⁶ Et l'Eternel passa devant lui et prononça [ces paroles] : L'Eternel, l'Eternel, Dieu compatissant et miséricordieux, lent à la colère et abondant en grâce et en vérité ; ⁷ qui conserve sa grâce à mille générations ; qui pardonne le crime, la défection et le péché ; mais il ne les laisse pas impunis, poursuivant l'iniquité des pères sur les fils et sur les fils des fils, sur la troisième et la quatrième génération.

⁶ And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, ⁷ Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.
