⁶ And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, ⁷ Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.

⁶ L'Eternel passa devant lui et s'écria: «L'Eternel, l'Eternel est un *Dieu de grâce et de compassion, lent à la colère, riche en bonté et en vérité. ⁷ Il garde son amour jusqu'à 1000 générations, il pardonne la faute, la révolte et le péché, mais il ne traite pas le coupable en innocent et il punit la faute des pères sur les enfants et les petits-enfants jusqu'à la troisième et à la quatrième génération!»
