BCC ¹ La parole qui fut adressée à Jérémie de la part de Jéhovah, disant :

KJV ¹ The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,

VULC ¹ Verbum quod factum est ad Jeremiam a Domino, dicens :

WLC ¹ הַדָּבָר֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר הָיָ֣ה אֶֽל־ יִרְמְיָ֔הוּ מֵאֵ֥ת יְהוָ֖ה לֵאמֹֽר׃

BCC ² Lève-toi et descends à la maison du potier, et là je te ferai entendre ma parole.

KJV ² Arise, and go down to the potter's house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words.

VULC ² Surge, et descende in domum figuli, et ibi audies verba mea.

WLC ² ק֥וּם וְיָרַדְתָּ֖ בֵּ֣ית הַיּוֹצֵ֑ר וְשָׁ֖מָּה אַשְׁמִֽיעֲךָ֥ אֶת־ דְּבָרָֽי׃

BCC ³ Je descendis à la maison du potier ; or il faisait son ouvrage sur des roues.

KJV ³ Then I went down to the potter's house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels.

VULC ³ Et descendi in domum figuli, et ecce ipse faciebat opus super rotam.

WLC ³ וָאֵרֵ֖ד בֵּ֣ית הַיּוֹצֵ֑ר עֹשֶׂ֥ה מְלָאכָ֖ה עַל־ הָאָבְנָֽיִם׃

BCC ⁴ Et le vase qu'il faisait manqua, comme il arrive à l'argile dans la main du potier, et il refit un autre vase, comme il plut au potier de le faire.

KJV ⁴ And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.

VULC ⁴ Et dissipatum est vas quod ipse faciebat e luto manibus suis : conversusque fecit illud vas alterum, sicut placuerat in oculis ejus ut faceret.

WLC ⁴ וְנִשְׁחַ֣ת הַכְּלִ֗י אֲשֶׁ֨ר ה֥וּא עֹשֶׂ֛ה בַּחֹ֖מֶר בְּיַ֣ד הַיּוֹצֵ֑ר וְשָׁ֗ב וַֽיַּעֲשֵׂ֙הוּ֙ כְּלִ֣י אַחֵ֔ר כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר יָשַׁ֛ר בְּעֵינֵ֥י הַיּוֹצֵ֖ר לַעֲשֽׂוֹת׃

BCC ⁵ Et la parole de Jéhovah me fut adressée en ces termes :

KJV ⁵ Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

VULC ⁵ Et factum est verbum Domini ad me, dicens :

WLC ⁵ וַיְהִ֥י דְבַר־ יְהוָ֖ה אֵלַ֥י לֵאמֽוֹר׃

BCC ⁶ Est-ce que je ne puis pas vous faire comme a fait ce potier, maison d'Israël ? Ce que l'argile est dans la main du potier, vous l'êtes dans ma main, maison d'Israël.

KJV ⁶ O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.

VULC ⁶ [Numquid sicut figulus iste,
non potero vobis facere, domus Israël ? ait Dominus :
ecce sicut lutum in manu figuli,
sic vos in manu mea, domus Israël.

WLC ⁶ הֲכַיּוֹצֵ֨ר הַזֶּ֜ה לֹא־ אוּכַ֨ל לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת לָכֶ֛ם בֵּ֥ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל נְאֻם־ יְהוָ֑ה הִנֵּ֤ה כַחֹ֙מֶר֙ בְּיַ֣ד הַיּוֹצֵ֔ר כֵּן־ אַתֶּ֥ם בְּיָדִ֖י בֵּ֥ית יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

BCC ⁷ Tantôt je parle, touchant une nation et touchant un royaume, d'arracher, d'abattre et de détruire.

KJV ⁷ At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it;

VULC ⁷ Repente loquar adversum gentem et adversus regnum,
ut eradicem, et destruam, et disperdam illud :

WLC ⁷ רֶ֣גַע אֲדַבֵּ֔ר עַל־ גּ֖וֹי וְעַל־ מַמְלָכָ֑ה לִנְת֥וֹשׁ וְלִנְת֖וֹץ וּֽלְהַאֲבִֽיד׃

BCC ⁸ Mais cette nation, contre laquelle j'ai parlé, revient-elle de sa méchanceté, alors je me repens du mal que j'avais voulu lui faire.

KJV ⁸ If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them.

VULC ⁸ si pœnitentiam egerit gens illa a malo suo
quod locutus sum adversus eam,
agam et ego pœnitentiam super malo
quod cogitavi ut facerem ei.

WLC ⁸ וְשָׁב֙ הַגּ֣וֹי הַה֔וּא מֵרָ֣עָת֔וֹ אֲשֶׁ֥ר דִּבַּ֖רְתִּי עָלָ֑יו וְנִֽחַמְתִּי֙ עַל־ הָ֣רָעָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר חָשַׁ֖בְתִּי לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת לֽוֹ׃

BCC ⁹ Tantôt je parle, touchant une nation et touchant un royaume, de bâtir et de planter,

KJV ⁹ And at what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it;

VULC ⁹ Et subito loquar de gente et de regno,
ut ædificem et plantem illud.

WLC ⁹ וְרֶ֣גַע אֲדַבֵּ֔ר עַל־ גּ֖וֹי וְעַל־ מַמְלָכָ֑ה לִבְנֹ֖ת וְלִנְטֹֽעַ׃

BCC ¹⁰ Mais cette nation fait-elle ce qui est mal à mes yeux, en n'écoutant pas ma voix, alors je me repens du bien que j'avais dit que je lui ferais.

KJV ¹⁰ If it do evil in my sight, that it obey not my voice, then I will repent of the good, wherewith I said I would benefit them.

VULC ¹⁰ Si fecerit malum in oculis meis,
ut non audiat vocem meam,
pœnitentiam agam super bono quod locutus sum ut facerem ei.

WLC ¹⁰ וְעָשָׂ֤ה בְּעֵינַ֔י לְבִלְתִּ֖י שְׁמֹ֣עַ בְּקוֹלִ֑י וְנִֽחַמְתִּי֙ עַל־ הַטּוֹבָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר אָמַ֖רְתִּי לְהֵיטִ֥יב אוֹתֽוֹ׃
