KJV ⁸ This is the word that came unto Jeremiah from the LORD, after that the king Zedekiah had made a covenant with all the people which were at Jerusalem, to proclaim liberty unto them;

WLC ⁸ הַדָּבָ֛ר אֲשֶׁר־ הָיָ֥ה אֶֽל־ יִרְמְיָ֖הוּ מֵאֵ֣ת יְהוָ֑ה אַחֲרֵ֡י כְּרֹת֩ הַמֶּ֨לֶךְ צִדְקִיָּ֜הוּ בְּרִ֗ית אֶת־ כָּל־ הָעָם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בִּירֽוּשָׁלִַ֔ם לִקְרֹ֥א לָהֶ֖ם דְּרֽוֹר׃

KJV ⁹ That every man should let his manservant, and every man his maidservant, being an Hebrew or an Hebrewess, go free; that none should serve himself of them, to wit, of a Jew his brother.

MAR ⁹ Afin que chacun renvoyât libre son serviteur, et chacun sa servante, Hébreu ou Hébreue, et qu'aucun Juif ne fût l'esclave de son frère.

VULC ⁹ ut dimitteret unusquisque servum suum et unusquisque ancillam suam, Hebræum et Hebræam, liberos, et nequaquam dominarentur eis, id est, in Judæo et fratre suo.

WLC ⁹ לְ֠שַׁלַּח אִ֣ישׁ אֶת־ עַבְדּ֞וֹ וְאִ֧ישׁ אֶת־ שִׁפְחָת֛וֹ הָעִבְרִ֥י וְהָעִבְרִיָּ֖ה חָפְשִׁ֑ים לְבִלְתִּ֧י עֲבָד־ בָּ֛ם בִּיהוּדִ֥י אָחִ֖יהוּ אִֽישׁ׃

KJV ¹⁰ Now when all the princes, and all the people, which had entered into the covenant, heard that every one should let his manservant, and every one his maidservant, go free, that none should serve themselves of them any more, then they obeyed, and let them go.

MAR ¹⁰ Tous les principaux donc, et tout le peuple qui étaient entrés dans cette alliance, entendirent que chacun devait renvoyer libre son serviteur, et chacun sa servante, sans plus les asservir ; et ils obéirent, et les renvoyèrent.

VULC ¹⁰ Audierunt ergo omnes principes et universus populus qui inierant pactum ut dimitteret unusquisque servum suum et unusquisque ancillam suam liberos, et ultra non dominarentur eis : audierunt igitur, et dimiserunt.

WLC ¹⁰ וַיִּשְׁמְעוּ֩ כָל־ הַשָּׂרִ֨ים וְכָל־ הָעָ֜ם אֲשֶׁר־ בָּ֣אוּ בַבְּרִ֗ית לְ֠שַׁלַּח אִ֣ישׁ אֶת־ עַבְדּ֞וֹ וְאִ֤ישׁ אֶת־ שִׁפְחָתוֹ֙ חָפְשִׁ֔ים לְבִלְתִּ֥י עֲבָד־ בָּ֖ם ע֑וֹד וַֽיִּשְׁמְע֖וּ וַיְשַׁלֵּֽחוּ׃

KJV ¹¹ But afterward they turned, and caused the servants and the handmaids, whom they had let go free, to return, and brought them into subjection for servants and for handmaids.

MAR ¹¹ Mais ensuite ils changèrent d'avis, et firent revenir leurs serviteurs et leurs servantes, qu'ils avaient renvoyés libres, et les assujettirent pour leur être serviteurs et servantes.

VULC ¹¹ Et conversi sunt deinceps : et retraxerunt servos et ancillas suas quos dimiserant liberos, et subjugaverunt in famulos et famulas.

WLC ¹¹ וַיָּשׁ֙וּבוּ֙ אַחֲרֵי־ כֵ֔ן וַיָּשִׁ֗בוּ אֶת־ הָֽעֲבָדִים֙ וְאֶת־ הַשְּׁפָח֔וֹת אֲשֶׁ֥ר שִׁלְּח֖וּ חָפְשִׁ֑ים לַעֲבָדִ֖ים וְלִשְׁפָחֽוֹת׃

KJV ¹² Therefore the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,

WLC ¹² וַיְהִ֤י דְבַר־ יְהוָה֙ אֶֽל־ יִרְמְיָ֔הוּ מֵאֵ֥ת יְהוָ֖ה לֵאמֹֽר׃

KJV ¹³ Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; I made a covenant with your fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondmen, saying,

MAR ¹³ Ainsi a dit l'Eternel, le Dieu d'Israël : je traitai alliance avec vos pères, le jour que je les tirai hors du pays d'Egypte, de la maison de servitude, en disant :

VULC ¹³ Hæc dicit Dominus Deus Israël : Ego percussi fœdus cum patribus vestris in die qua eduxi eos de terra Ægypti, de domo servitutis, dicens :

WLC ¹³ כֹּֽה־ אָמַ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל אָנֹכִ֗י כָּרַ֤תִּֽי בְרִית֙ אֶת־ אֲב֣וֹתֵיכֶ֔ם בְּי֨וֹם הוֹצִאִ֤י אוֹתָם֙ מֵאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַ֔יִם מִבֵּ֥ית עֲבָדִ֖ים לֵאמֹֽר׃

KJV ¹⁴ At the end of seven years let ye go every man his brother an Hebrew, which hath been sold unto thee; and when he hath served thee six years, thou shalt let him go free from thee: but your fathers hearkened not unto me, neither inclined their ear.

MAR ¹⁴ Dans la septième année vous renverrez chacun votre frère Hébreu, qui vous aura été vendu ; il te servira six ans, puis tu le renverras libre d'avec toi ; mais vos pères ne m'ont point écouté, et n'ont point incliné leur oreille.

VULC ¹⁴ Cum completi fuerint septem anni, dimittat unusquisque fratrem suum Hebræum, qui venditus est ei : et serviet tibi sex annis, et dimittes eum a te liberum : et non audierunt patres vestri me, nec inclinaverunt aurem suam.

KJV ¹⁵ And ye were now turned, and had done right in my sight, in proclaiming liberty every man to his neighbour; and ye had made a covenant before me in the house which is called by my name:

MAR ¹⁵ Et vous vous étiez convertis aujourd'hui, et vous aviez fait ce qui [était] juste devant moi, en publiant la liberté chacun à son prochain, et vous aviez traité alliance en ma présence, dans la maison sur laquelle mon Nom est réclamé ;

VULC ¹⁵ Et conversi estis vos hodie, et fecistis quod rectum est in oculis meis, ut prædicaretis libertatem unusquisque ad amicum suum : et inistis pactum in conspectu meo, in domo in qua invocatum est nomen meum super eam :

WLC ¹⁵ וַתָּשֻׁ֨בוּ אַתֶּ֜ם הַיּ֗וֹם וַתַּעֲשׂ֤וּ אֶת־ הַיָּשָׁר֙ בְּעֵינַ֔י לִקְרֹ֥א דְר֖וֹר אִ֣ישׁ לְרֵעֵ֑הוּ וַתִּכְרְת֤וּ בְרִית֙ לְפָנַ֔י בַּבַּ֕יִת אֲשֶׁר־ נִקְרָ֥א שְׁמִ֖י עָלָֽיו׃

KJV ¹⁶ But ye turned and polluted my name, and caused every man his servant, and every man his handmaid, whom he had set at liberty at their pleasure, to return, and brought them into subjection, to be unto you for servants and for handmaids.

MAR ¹⁶ Mais vous avez changé d'avis, et avez souillé mon Nom ; car vous avez fait revenir chacun son serviteur, et chacun sa servante, que vous aviez renvoyés libres pour être à eux-mêmes, et vous les avez assujettis, afin qu'ils vous soient serviteurs et servantes.

VULC ¹⁶ et reversi estis, et commaculastis nomen meum, et reduxistis unusquisque servum suum et unusquisque ancillam suam quos dimiseratis ut essent liberi et suæ potestatis, et subjugastis eos ut sint vobis servi et ancillæ.

WLC ¹⁶ וַתָּשֻׁ֙בוּ֙ וַתְּחַלְּל֣וּ אֶת־ שְׁמִ֔י וַתָּשִׁ֗בוּ אִ֤ישׁ אֶת־ עַבְדּוֹ֙ וְאִ֣ישׁ אֶת־ שִׁפְחָת֔וֹ אֲשֶׁר־ שִׁלַּחְתֶּ֥ם חָפְשִׁ֖ים לְנַפְשָׁ֑ם וַתִּכְבְּשׁ֣וּ אֹתָ֔ם לִֽהְי֣וֹת לָכֶ֔ם לַעֲבָדִ֖ים וְלִשְׁפָחֽוֹת׃

KJV ¹⁷ Therefore thus saith the LORD; Ye have not hearkened unto me, in proclaiming liberty, every one to his brother, and every man to his neighbour: behold, I proclaim a liberty for you, saith the LORD, to the sword, to the pestilence, and to the famine; and I will make you to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth.

MAR ¹⁷ C'est pourquoi ainsi a dit l'Eternel : vous ne m'avez point écouté pour publier la liberté chacun à son frère, et chacun à son prochain ; voici, je m'en vais publier, dit l'Eternel, la liberté contre vous à l'épée, à la peste, et à la famine ; et je vous livrerai pour être transportés par tous les Royaumes de la terre.

VULC ¹⁷ Propterea hæc dicit Dominus : Vos non audistis me, ut prædicaretis libertatem unusquisque fratri suo et unusquisque amico suo : ecce ego prædico vobis libertatem, ait Dominus, ad gladium, ad pestem, et ad famem, et dabo vos in commotionem cunctis regnis terræ.

WLC ¹⁷ לָכֵן֮ כֹּה־ אָמַ֣ר יְהוָה֒ אַתֶּם֙ לֹֽא־ שְׁמַעְתֶּ֣ם אֵלַ֔י לִקְרֹ֣א דְר֔וֹר אִ֥ישׁ לְאָחִ֖יו וְאִ֣ישׁ לְרֵעֵ֑הוּ הִנְנִ֣י קֹרֵא֩ לָכֶ֨ם דְּר֜וֹר נְאֻם־ יְהוָ֗ה אֶל־ הַחֶ֙רֶב֙ אֶל־ הַדֶּ֣בֶר וְאֶל־ הָרָעָ֔ב וְנָתַתִּ֤י אֶתְכֶם֙ לְכֹ֖ל מַמְלְכ֥וֹת הָאָֽרֶץ׃

KJV ¹⁸ And I will give the men that have transgressed my covenant, which have not performed the words of the covenant which they had made before me, when they cut the calf in twain, and passed between the parts thereof,

MAR ¹⁸ Et je livrerai les hommes qui ont transgressé mon alliance, et qui n'ont point effectué les paroles de l'alliance qu'ils ont traitée devant moi, lorsqu'ils sont passés entre les deux moitiés du veau qu'ils ont coupé en deux ;

VULC ¹⁸ Et dabo viros qui prævaricantur fœdus meum, et non observaverunt verba fœderis quibus assensi sunt in conspectu meo, vitulum quem conciderunt in duas partes, et transierunt inter divisiones ejus,

WLC ¹⁸ וְנָתַתִּ֣י אֶת־ הָאֲנָשִׁ֗ים הָעֹֽבְרִים֙ אֶת־ בְּרִתִ֔י אֲשֶׁ֤ר לֹֽא־ הֵקִ֙ימוּ֙ אֶת־ דִּבְרֵ֣י הַבְּרִ֔ית אֲשֶׁ֥ר כָּרְת֖וּ לְפָנָ֑י הָעֵ֙גֶל֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר כָּרְת֣וּ לִשְׁנַ֔יִם וַיַּעַבְר֖וּ בֵּ֥ין בְּתָרָֽיו׃

KJV ¹⁹ The princes of Judah, and the princes of Jerusalem, the eunuchs, and the priests, and all the people of the land, which passed between the parts of the calf;

MAR ¹⁹ Les principaux de Juda, et les principaux de Jérusalem, les Eunuques, et les Sacrificateurs et tout le peuple du pays, qui ont passé entre les deux moitiés du veau ;

VULC ¹⁹ principes Juda et principes Jerusalem, eunuchi et sacerdotes, et omnis populus terræ, qui transierunt inter divisiones vituli :

WLC ¹⁹ שָׂרֵ֨י יְהוּדָ֜ה וְשָׂרֵ֣י יְרוּשָׁלִַ֗ם הַסָּֽרִסִים֙ וְהַכֹּ֣הֲנִ֔ים וְכֹ֖ל עַ֣ם הָאָ֑רֶץ הָעֹ֣בְרִ֔ים בֵּ֖ין בִּתְרֵ֥י הָעֵֽגֶל׃

KJV ²⁰ I will even give them into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of them that seek their life: and their dead bodies shall be for meat unto the fowls of the heaven, and to the beasts of the earth.

MAR ²⁰ Je les livrerai, dis-je, entre les mains de leurs ennemis, et entre les mains de ceux qui cherchent leur vie ; et leurs corps morts seront pour viande aux oiseaux des cieux, et aux bêtes de la terre.

VULC ²⁰ et dabo eos in manus inimicorum suorum, et in manus quærentium animam eorum, et erit morticinum eorum in escam volatilibus cæli et bestiis terræ.

WLC ²⁰ וְנָתַתִּ֤י אוֹתָם֙ בְּיַ֣ד אֹֽיְבֵיהֶ֔ם וּבְיַ֖ד מְבַקְשֵׁ֣י נַפְשָׁ֑ם וְהָיְתָ֤ה נִבְלָתָם֙ לְמַֽאֲכָ֔ל לְע֥וֹף הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם וּלְבֶהֱמַ֥ת הָאָֽרֶץ׃

KJV ²¹ And Zedekiah king of Judah and his princes will I give into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of them that seek their life, and into the hand of the king of Babylon's army, which are gone up from you.

MAR ²¹ Je livrerai aussi Sédécias Roi de Juda, et les principaux de sa Cour entre les mains de leurs ennemis, et entre les mains de ceux qui cherchent leur vie ; savoir entre les mains de l'armée du Roi de Babylone, qui s'est retiré de devant vous.

VULC ²¹ Et Sedeciam regem Juda, et principes ejus, dabo in manus inimicorum suorum, et in manus quærentium animas eorum, et in manus exercituum regis Babylonis, qui recesserunt a vobis.

WLC ²¹ וְאֶת־ צִדְקִיָּ֨הוּ מֶֽלֶךְ־ יְהוּדָ֜ה וְאֶת־ שָׂרָ֗יו אֶתֵּן֙ בְּיַ֣ד אֹֽיְבֵיהֶ֔ם וּבְיַ֖ד מְבַקְשֵׁ֣י נַפְשָׁ֑ם וּבְיַד חֵ֚יל מֶ֣לֶךְ בָּבֶ֔ל הָעֹלִ֖ים מֵעֲלֵיכֶֽם׃

KJV ²² Behold, I will command, saith the LORD, and cause them to return to this city; and they shall fight against it, and take it, and burn it with fire: and I will make the cities of Judah a desolation without an inhabitant.

MAR ²² Voici, je m'en vais leur donner ordre, dit l'Eternel, et je les ferai retourner vers cette ville-ci, et ils combattront contre elle, et la prendront, et la brûleront au feu, et je mettrai les villes de Juda en désolation, tellement qu'il n'y aura personne qui y habite.

VULC ²² Ecce ego præcipio, dicit Dominus, et reducam eos in civitatem hanc, et præliabuntur adversus eam, et capient eam, et incendent igni : et civitates Juda dabo in solitudinem, eo quod non sit habitator.

WLC ²² הִנְנִ֨י מְצַוֶּ֜ה נְאֻם־ יְהוָ֗ה וַהֲשִׁ֨בֹתִ֜ים אֶל־ הָעִ֤יר הַזֹּאת֙ וְנִלְחֲמ֣וּ עָלֶ֔יהָ וּלְכָד֖וּהָ וּשְׂרָפֻ֣הָ בָאֵ֑שׁ וְאֶת־ עָרֵ֧י יְהוּדָ֛ה אֶתֵּ֥ן שְׁמָמָ֖ה מֵאֵ֥ין יֹשֵֽׁב׃
