KJV ⁹ That every man should let his manservant, and every man his maidservant, being an Hebrew or an Hebrewess, go free; that none should serve himself of them, to wit, of a Jew his brother.

S21 ⁹ Chacun devait laisser partir libres son esclave et sa servante hébreux et ne plus contraindre à l'esclavage un Juif, un de ses frères.

KJV ¹⁰ Now when all the princes, and all the people, which had entered into the covenant, heard that every one should let his manservant, and every one his maidservant, go free, that none should serve themselves of them any more, then they obeyed, and let them go.

S21 ¹⁰ Tous les chefs et tout le peuple qui avaient accepté l'alliance furent attentifs à laisser partir libres chacun son esclave et sa servante et à ne plus les contraindre à l'esclavage. Ils tinrent parole et les renvoyèrent,

KJV ¹¹ But afterward they turned, and caused the servants and the handmaids, whom they had let go free, to return, and brought them into subjection for servants and for handmaids.

S21 ¹¹ mais ensuite ils changèrent d'avis: ils reprirent les esclaves et les servantes qu'ils avaient affranchis et les forcèrent à redevenir esclaves et servantes.

KJV ¹² Therefore the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,

KJV ¹³ Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; I made a covenant with your fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondmen, saying,

S21 ¹³ «Voici ce que dit l'Eternel, le Dieu d'Israël: J'ai moi-même conclu une alliance avec vos ancêtres, le jour où je les ai fait sortir d'Egypte, de la maison d'esclavage. Je leur ai dit:

KJV ¹⁴ At the end of seven years let ye go every man his brother an Hebrew, which hath been sold unto thee; and when he hath served thee six years, thou shalt let him go free from thee: but your fathers hearkened not unto me, neither inclined their ear.

S21 ¹⁴ ‘Au bout de sept ans, chacun de vous renverra libre son frère hébreu qui s'est vendu à lui; il te servira six ans, puis tu le laisseras partir libre de chez toi.' Cependant, vos ancêtres ne m'ont pas écouté, ils n'ont pas tendu l'oreille.

KJV ¹⁵ And ye were now turned, and had done right in my sight, in proclaiming liberty every man to his neighbour; and ye had made a covenant before me in the house which is called by my name:

S21 ¹⁵ Quant à vous, vous aviez changé d'attitude aujourd'hui, vous aviez fait ce qui est droit à mes yeux en proclamant chacun la libération pour son prochain. Vous aviez même conclu une alliance en ma présence, dans le temple auquel mon nom est associé.

KJV ¹⁶ But ye turned and polluted my name, and caused every man his servant, and every man his handmaid, whom he had set at liberty at their pleasure, to return, and brought them into subjection, to be unto you for servants and for handmaids.

S21 ¹⁶ Pourtant, vous vous êtes ravisés et vous avez déshonoré mon nom. Vous avez repris chacun les esclaves et les servantes que vous aviez affranchis pour qu'ils puissent disposer d'eux-mêmes, et vous les avez forcés à redevenir vos esclaves et vos servantes.

KJV ¹⁷ Therefore thus saith the LORD; Ye have not hearkened unto me, in proclaiming liberty, every one to his brother, and every man to his neighbour: behold, I proclaim a liberty for you, saith the LORD, to the sword, to the pestilence, and to the famine; and I will make you to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth.

S21 ¹⁷ »C'est pourquoi, voici ce que dit l'Eternel: Vous ne m'avez pas obéi en proclamant chacun une réelle libération pour son frère, pour son prochain. Je vais donc proclamer un décret de libération pour vous, et ce à l'intention de l'épée, de la peste et de la famine, déclare l'Eternel, et je ferai de vous une source de terreur pour tous les royaumes de la terre.

KJV ¹⁸ And I will give the men that have transgressed my covenant, which have not performed the words of the covenant which they had made before me, when they cut the calf in twain, and passed between the parts thereof,

S21 ¹⁸ Je livrerai les hommes qui ont violé mon alliance, qui n'ont pas respecté les termes de l'alliance qu'ils avaient conclue en ma présence en coupant un veau en deux et en passant entre ses morceaux.

KJV ¹⁹ The princes of Judah, and the princes of Jerusalem, the eunuchs, and the priests, and all the people of the land, which passed between the parts of the calf;

S21 ¹⁹ Je livrerai les chefs de Juda et ceux de Jérusalem, les eunuques, les prêtres et toute la population du pays qui est passée entre les morceaux du veau.

KJV ²⁰ I will even give them into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of them that seek their life: and their dead bodies shall be for meat unto the fowls of the heaven, and to the beasts of the earth.

S21 ²⁰ Je les livrerai entre les mains de leurs ennemis, de ceux qui en veulent à leur vie, et leurs cadavres serviront de nourriture aux oiseaux du ciel et aux bêtes de la terre.

KJV ²¹ And Zedekiah king of Judah and his princes will I give into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of them that seek their life, and into the hand of the king of Babylon's army, which are gone up from you.

S21 ²¹ Je livrerai Sédécias, roi de Juda, et ses chefs entre les mains de leurs ennemis, de ceux qui en veulent à leur vie, je les livrerai à l'armée du roi de Babylone qui était en train de s'éloigner de vous.

KJV ²² Behold, I will command, saith the LORD, and cause them to return to this city; and they shall fight against it, and take it, and burn it with fire: and I will make the cities of Judah a desolation without an inhabitant.

S21 ²² Je vais donner mes ordres, déclare l'Eternel, et les faire revenir vers cette ville. Ils l'attaqueront, s'en empareront et y mettront le feu. Je ferai des villes de Juda des ruines inhabitées.»
