Jb 4:1-6 (Catholique Crampon)

¹ Alors Éliphaz de Théman prit la parole et dit : ² Si nous risquons un mot, peut-être en seras-tu affligé ; mais qui pourrait retenir ses paroles ? ³ Voilà que tu en as instruit plusieurs, que tu as fortifié les mains débiles, ⁴ que tes paroles ont relevé ceux qui chancelaient, que tu as raffermi les genoux vacillants !... ⁵ Et maintenant que le malheur vient à toi, tu faiblis ; maintenant qu'il t'atteint, tu perds courage !... ⁶ Ta crainte de Dieu n'était-elle pas ton espoir ? Ta confiance n'était-elle pas dans la pureté de ta vie ?

   ¹ Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said, ² If we assay to commune with thee, wilt thou be grieved? but who can withhold himself from speaking? ³ Behold, thou hast instructed many, and thou hast strengthened the weak hands. ⁴ Thy words have upholden him that was falling, and thou hast strengthened the feeble knees. ⁵ But now it is come upon thee, and thou faintest; it toucheth thee, and thou art troubled. ⁶ Is not this thy fear, thy confidence, thy hope, and the uprightness of thy ways?
