DRB ¹¹ Et ils lui dirent : Que te ferons-nous, afin que la mer s'apaise pour nous ? car la mer allait grossissant toujours.

KJV ¹¹ Then said they unto him, What shall we do unto thee, that the sea may be calm unto us? for the sea wrought, and was tempestuous.

MAR ¹¹ Et ils lui dirent : Que te ferons-nous afin que la mer se calme, nous laissant en paix ? Car la mer se tourmentait de plus en plus.

VULC ¹¹ Et dixerunt ad eum : Quid faciemus tibi, et cessabit mare a nobis ? quia mare ibat, et intumescebat.

WLC ¹¹ וַיֹּאמְר֤וּ אֵלָיו֙ מַה־ נַּ֣עֲשֶׂה לָּ֔ךְ וְיִשְׁתֹּ֥ק הַיָּ֖ם מֵֽעָלֵ֑ינוּ כִּ֥י הַיָּ֖ם הוֹלֵ֥ךְ וְסֹעֵֽר׃

DRB ¹² Et il leur dit : Prenez-moi et jetez-moi à la mer, et la mer s'apaisera pour vous ; car je sais que c'est à cause de moi que cette grosse tempête est [venue] sur vous.

KJV ¹² And he said unto them, Take me up, and cast me forth into the sea; so shall the sea be calm unto you: for I know that for my sake this great tempest is upon you.

MAR ¹² Et il leur répondit : Prenez-moi, et me jetez dans la mer, et la mer s'apaisera, vous laissant en paix ; car je connais que cette grande tourmente est venue sur vous à cause de moi.

VULC ¹² Et dixit ad eos : Tollite me, et mittite in mare, et cessabit mare a vobis : scio enim ego quoniam propter me tempestas hæc grandis venit super vos.

WLC ¹² וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֲלֵיהֶ֗ם שָׂא֙וּנִי֙ וַהֲטִילֻ֣נִי אֶל־ הַיָּ֔ם וְיִשְׁתֹּ֥ק הַיָּ֖ם מֵֽעֲלֵיכֶ֑ם כִּ֚י יוֹדֵ֣עַ אָ֔נִי כִּ֣י בְשֶׁלִּ֔י הַסַּ֧עַר הַגָּד֛וֹל הַזֶּ֖ה עֲלֵיכֶֽם׃

DRB ¹³ Mais les hommes ramèrent* pour regagner la terre ; et ils ne purent pas, car la mer allait toujours grossissant contre eux.

KJV ¹³ Nevertheless the men rowed hard to bring it to the land; but they could not: for the sea wrought, and was tempestuous against them.

MAR ¹³ Et ces hommes voguaient pour relâcher à terre, mais ils ne pouvaient, parce que la mer s'agitait de plus en plus.

VULC ¹³ Et remigabant viri ut reverterentur ad aridam, et non valebant, quia mare ibat, et intumescebat super eos.

WLC ¹³ וַיַּחְתְּר֣וּ הָאֲנָשִׁ֗ים לְהָשִׁ֛יב אֶל־ הַיַּבָּשָׁ֖ה וְלֹ֣א יָכֹ֑לוּ כִּ֣י הַיָּ֔ם הוֹלֵ֥ךְ וְסֹעֵ֖ר עֲלֵיהֶֽם׃

DRB ¹⁴ Et ils crièrent à l'Éternel, et dirent : Ah, Éternel ! que nous ne périssions pas, nous t'en prions, à cause de la vie de cet homme ; et ne mets pas sur nous du sang innocent ; car toi, Éternel, tu as fait comme il t'a plu.

KJV ¹⁴ Wherefore they cried unto the LORD, and said, We beseech thee, O LORD, we beseech thee, let us not perish for this man's life, and lay not upon us innocent blood: for thou, O LORD, hast done as it pleased thee.

MAR ¹⁴ Ils crièrent donc à l'Eternel, et dirent : Eternel, nous te prions que nous ne périssions point maintenant à cause de l'âme de cet homme-ci, et ne mets point sur nous le sang innocent ; car tu es l'Eternel, tu en as fait comme il t'a plu.

VULC ¹⁴ Et clamaverunt ad Dominum, et dixerunt : Quæsumus, Domine, ne pereamus in anima viri istius, et ne des super nos sanguinem innocentem : quia tu, Domine, sicut voluisti, fecisti.

DRB ¹⁵ Et ils prirent Jonas et le jetèrent à la mer ; et la fureur de la mer s'arrêta.

KJV ¹⁵ So they look up Jonah, and cast him forth into the sea: and the sea ceased from her raging.

MAR ¹⁵ Alors ils prirent Jonas, et le jetèrent dans la mer, et la tourmente de la mer s'arrêta.

VULC ¹⁵ Et tulerunt Jonam, et miserunt in mare : et stetit mare a fervore suo.

DRB ¹⁶ Et les hommes craignirent beaucoup* l'Éternel, et offrirent** un sacrifice à l'Éternel, et firent des vœux.

KJV ¹⁶ Then the men feared the LORD exceedingly, and offered a sacrifice unto the LORD, and made vows.

MAR ¹⁶ Et ces gens-là craignirent l'Eternel d'une grande crainte, et ils offrirent des sacrifices à l'Eternel, et vouèrent des voeux.

VULC ¹⁶ Et timuerunt viri timore magno Dominum : et immolaverunt hostias Domino, et voverunt vota.

WLC ¹⁶ וַיִּֽירְא֧וּ הָאֲנָשִׁ֛ים יִרְאָ֥ה גְדוֹלָ֖ה אֶת־ יְהוָ֑ה וַיִּֽזְבְּחוּ־ זֶ֙בַח֙ לַֽיהוָ֔ה וַֽיִּדְּר֖וּ נְדָרִֽים׃

KJV ¹⁷ Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.
