Js 2:1-7 (Darby)

   ¹ Et Josué, fils de Nun, envoya secrètement de Sittim deux espions, disant : Allez, voyez le pays et Jéricho. Et ils s'en allèrent, et vinrent dans la maison d'une prostituée, nommée Rahab*, et y couchèrent. ² Et on parla au roi de Jéricho, disant : Voici, des hommes d'entre les fils d'Israël sont venus ici cette nuit pour examiner le pays. ³ Et le roi de Jéricho envoya vers Rahab, disant : Fais sortir les hommes qui sont venus chez toi, qui sont entrés dans ta maison ; car ils sont venus pour examiner tout le pays. ⁴ Et la femme prit les deux hommes et les cacha ; et elle dit : Il est vrai, les hommes sont venus chez moi, et je ne savais pas d'où ils étaient ; ⁵ et comme la porte allait être fermée, dans les ténèbres, les hommes sont sortis ; je ne sais pas où ces hommes sont allés ; poursuivez-les en hâte, car vous les atteindrez. ⁶ Or elle les avait fait monter sur le toit, et les avait cachés sous des tiges de lin qu'elle avait arrangées pour elle sur le toit. ⁷ Et les hommes les poursuivirent par le chemin du Jourdain, jusqu'aux gués ; et après que ceux qui les poursuivaient furent sortis, on ferma la porte.

   ¹ And Joshua the son of Nun sent out of Shittim two men to spy secretly, saying, Go view the land, even Jericho. And they went, and came into an harlot's house, named Rahab, and lodged there. ² And it was told the king of Jericho, saying, Behold, there came men in hither to night of the children of Israel to search out the country. ³ And the king of Jericho sent unto Rahab, saying, Bring forth the men that are come to thee, which are entered into thine house: for they be come to search out all the country. ⁴ And the woman took the two men, and hid them, and said thus, There came men unto me, but I wist not whence they were: ⁵ And it came to pass about the time of shutting of the gate, when it was dark, that the men went out: whither the men went I wot not: pursue after them quickly; for ye shall overtake them. ⁶ But she had brought them up to the roof of the house, and hid them with the stalks of flax, which she had laid in order upon the roof. ⁷ And the men pursued after them the way to Jordan unto the fords: and as soon as they which pursued after them were gone out, they shut the gate.

   ¹ Misit igitur Josue filius Nun de Setim duos viros exploratores in abscondito : et dixit eis : Ite, et considerate terram, urbemque Jericho. Qui pergentes ingressi sunt domum mulieris meretricis, nomine Rahab, et quieverunt apud eam.
   ² Nuntiatumque est regi Jericho, et dictum : Ecce viri ingressi sunt huc per noctem de filiis Israël, ut explorarent terram.
   ³ Misitque rex Jericho ad Rahab, dicens : Educ viros, qui venerunt ad te, et ingressi sunt domum tuam : exploratores quippe sunt, et omnem terram considerare venerunt.
   ⁴ Tollensque mulier viros, abscondit, et ait : Fateor, venerunt ad me, sed nesciebam unde essent :
   ⁵ cumque porta clauderetur in tenebris, et illi pariter exierunt ; nescio quo abierunt : persequimini cito, et comprehendetis eos.
   ⁶ Ipsa autem fecit ascendere viros in solarium domus suæ, operuitque eos stipula lini, quæ ibi erat.
   ⁷ Hi autem, qui missi fuerant, secuti sunt eos per viam, quæ ducit ad vadum Jordanis : illisque egressis statim porta clausa est.
