²⁸ Car quel est celui d'entre vous qui, voulant bâtir une tour, ne s'asseye premièrement et ne calcule la dépense, [pour voir] s'il a de quoi l'achever ? ²⁹ de peur que, en ayant jeté le fondement et n'ayant pu l'achever, tous ceux qui le voient ne se mettent à se moquer de lui, ³⁰ disant : Cet homme a commencé à bâtir, et il n'a pu achever.

²⁸ For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? ²⁹ Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him, ³⁰ Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.

²⁸ En effet, si l'un de vous veut construire une tour, il s'assied d'abord pour calculer la dépense et voir s'il a de quoi la terminer. ²⁹ Autrement, si après avoir posé les fondations il ne peut pas la terminer, tous ceux qui le verront se mettront à se moquer de lui ³⁰ en disant: ‘Cet homme a commencé à construire, et il n'a pas pu finir.'

   ³⁰ dicentes : Quia hic homo cœpit ædificare, et non potuit consummare ?
