¹⁴ Jésus retourna avec la puissance de l'Esprit en Galilée, et sa renommée se répandit dans toute la région. ¹⁵ Et il enseignait dans leurs synagogues, et tous publiaient ses louanges. ¹⁶ Il vint à Nazareth, où il avait été élevé, et il entra, selon sa coutume le jour du sabbat, dans la synagogue, et il se leva pour faire la lecture. ¹⁷ On lui remit le livre du prophète Isaïe ; et ayant déroulé le livre, il trouva l'endroit où il était écrit : ¹⁸ L'Esprit du Seigneur est sur moi, parce qu'il m'a oint pour annoncer la bonne nouvelle aux pauvres ; il m'a envoyé publier aux captifs la délivrance, aux aveugles le retour à la vue, renvoyer libres les opprimés, ¹⁹ publier l'année favorable du Seigneur. ²⁰ Ayant roulé le livre, il le rendit à l'employé et s'assit ; et tous, dans la synagogue, avaient les yeux attachés sur lui. ²¹ Il se mit à dire à leur adresse : "aujourd'hui cette Écriture est accomplie devant vous." ²² Et tous lui rendaient témoignage et admiraient les paroles toutes de grâce qui sortaient de sa bouche, et ils disaient : " N'est-ce pas là le fils de Joseph ?" ²³ Et il leur dit : " Sans doute, vous me direz cet adage : Médecin, guéris-toi toi-même. Tout ce que nous avons ouï dire que vous avez fait pour Capharnaüm, faites-le ici aussi, dans votre patrie." ²⁴ Et il dit : " En vérité, je vous le dis, aucun prophète n'est en faveur dans sa patrie. ²⁵ Je vous le dis, en vérité, il y avait beaucoup de veuves en Israël aux jours d'Élie, lorsque le ciel fut fermé pendant trois ans et six mois, quand il y eu une grande famine sur toute la terre ; ²⁶ et Élie ne fut envoyé vers aucune d'elles, mais à Sarepta de Sidon, vers une femme veuve. ²⁷ Et il y avait beaucoup de lépreux en Israël au temps du prophète Élisée ; et aucun d'eux ne fut guéri, mais Naaman le Syrien." ²⁸ En entendant cela, ils furent tous remplis de colère dans la synagogue, ²⁹ et s'étant levés, ils le poussèrent hors de la ville, et le menèrent jusqu'au sommet de la montagne, sur laquelle leur ville était bâtie, pour le précipiter. ³⁰ Mais lui, passant au milieu d'eux, s'en alla.

   ¹⁴ And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about. ¹⁵ And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all. ¹⁶ And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read. ¹⁷ And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, ¹⁸ The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, ¹⁹ To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. ²⁰ And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. ²¹ And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears. ²² And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph's son? ²³ And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country. ²⁴ And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country. ²⁵ But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land; ²⁶ But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow. ²⁷ And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian. ²⁸ And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath, ²⁹ And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong. ³⁰ But he passing through the midst of them went his way,

   ¹⁴ Et regressus est Jesus in virtute Spiritus in Galilæam, et fama exiit per universam regionem de illo.
   ¹⁵ Et ipse docebat in synagogis eorum, et magnificabatur ab omnibus.
   ¹⁶ Et venit Nazareth, ubi erat nutritus, et intravit secundum consuetudinem suam die sabbati in synagogam, et surrexit legere.
   ¹⁷ Et traditus est illi liber Isaiæ prophetæ. Et ut revolvit librum, invenit locum ubi scriptum erat :
   ¹⁸ Spiritus Domini super me : propter quod unxit me, evangelizare pauperibus misit me, sanare contritos corde,
   ¹⁹ prædicare captivis remissionem, et cæcis visum, dimittere confractos in remissionem, prædicare annum Domini acceptum et diem retributionis.
   ²⁰ Et cum plicuisset librum, reddidit ministro, et sedit. Et omnium in synagoga oculi erant intendentes in eum.
   ²¹ Cœpit autem dicere ad illos : Quia hodie impleta est hæc scriptura in auribus vestris.
   ²² Et omnes testimonium illi dabant : et mirabantur in verbis gratiæ, quæ procedebant de ore ipsius, et dicebant : Nonne hic est filius Joseph ?
   ²³ Et ait illis : Utique dicetis mihi hanc similitudinem : Medice cura teipsum : quanta audivimus facta in Capharnaum, fac et hic in patria tua.
   ²⁴ Ait autem : Amen dico vobis, quia nemo propheta acceptus est in patria sua.
   ²⁵ In veritate dico vobis, multæ viduæ erant in diebus Eliæ in Israël, quando clausum est cælum annis tribus et mensibus sex, cum facta esset fames magna in omni terra :
   ²⁶ et ad nullam illarum missus est Elias, nisi in Sarepta Sidoniæ, ad mulierem viduam.
   ²⁷ Et multi leprosi erant in Israël sub Eliseo propheta : et nemo eorum mundatus est nisi Naaman Syrus.
   ²⁸ Et repleti sunt omnes in synagoga ira, hæc audientes.
   ²⁹ Et surrexerunt, et ejecerunt illum extra civitatem : et duxerunt illum usque ad supercilium montis, super quem civitas illorum erat ædificata, ut præcipitarent eum.
   ³⁰ Ipse autem transiens per medium illorum, ibat.
