WLC ¹ מַשָּׂ֥א דְבַר־ יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל בְּיַ֖ד מַלְאָכִֽי׃

KJV ² I have loved you, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, Wherein hast thou loved us? Was not Esau Jacob's brother? saith the LORD: yet I loved Jacob,

VULC ² Dilexi vos, dicit Dominus, et dixistis : In quo dilexisti nos ? Nonne frater erat Esau Jacob ? dicit Dominus : et dilexi Jacob,

WLC ² אָהַ֤בְתִּי אֶתְכֶם֙ אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה וַאֲמַרְתֶּ֖ם בַּמָּ֣ה אֲהַבְתָּ֑נוּ הֲלוֹא־ אָ֨ח עֵשָׂ֤ו לְיַֽעֲקֹב֙ נְאֻם־ יְהוָ֔ה וָאֹהַ֖ב אֶֽת־ יַעֲקֹֽב׃

KJV ³ And I hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for the dragons of the wilderness.

VULC ³ Esau autem odio habui, et posui montes ejus in solitudinem, et hæreditatem ejus in dracones deserti.

WLC ³ וְאֶת־ עֵשָׂ֖ו שָׂנֵ֑אתִי וָאָשִׂ֤ים אֶת־ הָרָיו֙ שְׁמָמָ֔ה וְאֶת־ נַחֲלָת֖וֹ לְתַנּ֥וֹת מִדְבָּֽר׃

KJV ⁴ Whereas Edom saith, We are impoverished, but we will return and build the desolate places; thus saith the LORD of hosts, They shall build, but I will throw down; and they shall call them, The border of wickedness, and, The people against whom the LORD hath indignation for ever.

VULC ⁴ Quod si dixerit Idumæa : Destructi sumus, sed revertentes ædificabimus quæ destructa sunt : hæc dicit Dominus exercituum : Isti ædificabunt, et ego destruam : et vocabuntur termini impietatis, et populus cui iratus est Dominus usque in æternum.

WLC ⁴ כִּֽי־ תֹאמַ֨ר אֱד֜וֹם רֻשַּׁ֗שְׁנוּ וְנָשׁוּב֙ וְנִבְנֶ֣ה חֳרָב֔וֹת כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֔וֹת הֵ֥מָּה יִבְנ֖וּ וַאֲנִ֣י אֶהֱר֑וֹס וְקָרְא֤וּ לָהֶם֙ גְּב֣וּל רִשְׁעָ֔ה וְהָעָ֛ם אֲשֶׁר־ זָעַ֥ם יְהוָ֖ה עַד־ עוֹלָֽם׃

KJV ⁵ And your eyes shall see, and ye shall say, The LORD will be magnified from the border of Israel.

VULC ⁵ Et oculi vestri videbunt, et vos dicetis : Magnificetur Dominus super terminum Israël.

WLC ⁵ וְעֵינֵיכֶ֖ם תִּרְאֶ֑ינָה וְאַתֶּ֤ם תֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ יִגְדַּ֣ל יְהוָ֔ה מֵעַ֖ל לִגְב֥וּל יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
