KJV ¹ And he arose from thence, and cometh into the coasts of Judaea by the farther side of Jordan: and the people resort unto him again; and, as he was wont, he taught them again.

S21 ¹ Jésus partit de là et se rendit dans le territoire de la Judée, de l'autre côté du Jourdain. La foule se rassembla de nouveau près de lui et, conformément à son habitude, il se mit encore à l'enseigner.

KJV ² And the Pharisees came to him, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him.

S21 ² Les pharisiens l'abordèrent et, pour lui tendre un piège, ils lui demandèrent s'il est permis à un homme de divorcer de sa femme.

KJV ³ And he answered and said unto them, What did Moses command you?

S21 ³ Il leur répondit: «Que vous a prescrit Moïse?»

KJV ⁴ And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away.

S21 ⁴ «Moïse, dirent-ils, nous a permis d'écrire une lettre de divorce et de renvoyer notre femme.»

KJV ⁵ And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept.

S21 ⁵ Jésus leur dit: «C'est à cause de la dureté de votre cœur que Moïse vous a donné cette règle.

KJV ⁶ But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.

S21 ⁶ Mais au commencement de la création, Dieu a fait l'homme et la femme;

KJV ⁷ For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;

S21 ⁷ c'est pourquoi l'homme quittera son père et sa mère [et s'attachera à sa femme],

KJV ⁸ And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.

S21 ⁸ et les deux ne feront qu'un. Ainsi, ils ne sont plus deux mais ne font qu'un.

KJV ⁹ What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

S21 ⁹ Que l'homme ne sépare donc pas ce que Dieu a uni.»

KJV ¹⁰ And in the house his disciples asked him again of the same matter.

S21 ¹⁰ Lorsqu'ils furent dans la maison, les disciples l'interrogèrent encore là-dessus.

KJV ¹¹ And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her.

S21 ¹¹ Il leur dit: «Celui qui renvoie sa femme et qui en épouse une autre commet un adultère envers elle,

KJV ¹² And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.

S21 ¹² et si une femme divorce de son mari et en épouse un autre, elle commet un adultère.»
