Mt 6:1-7 (Catholique Crampon)

¹ Gardez-vous de pratiquer votre justice aux regards des hommes pour être vus d'eux ; autrement, vous n'avez pas de récompense auprès de votre Père qui est dans les cieux. ² Quand donc tu fais l'aumône, ne fais pas sonner de la trompette devant toi, comme font les hypocrites dans les synagogues et dans les rues, afin d'être glorifiés par les hommes ; en vérité, je vous le dis, ils ont reçu leur récompense. ³ Pour toi, quand tu fais l'aumône, que ta main gauche ne sache pas ce que fait ta main droite, ⁴ afin que ton aumône soit dans le secret ; et ton Père, qui voit dans le secret, te le rendra. ⁵ Et lorsque vous priez, ne soyez pas comme les hypocrites, qui aiment à prier debout dans les synagogues et au coin des rues, afin d'être vus des hommes ; en vérité, je vous le dis, ils ont reçu leur récompense. ⁶ Pour toi, quand tu veux prier, entre dans ta chambre et, ayant fermé ta porte, prie ton Père qui est présent dans le secret ; et ton Père, qui voit dans le secret, te le rendra. ⁷ Dans vos prières, ne multipliez pas les paroles, comme font les païens, qui s'imaginent devoir être exaucés à force de paroles.

   ¹ Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. ² Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. ³ But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: ⁴ That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.
   ⁵ And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. ⁶ But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. ⁷ But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

   ¹ Attendite ne justitiam vestram faciatis coram hominibus, ut videamini ab eis : alioquin mercedem non habebitis apud Patrem vestrum qui in cælis est.
   ² Cum ergo facis eleemosynam, noli tuba canere ante te, sicut hypocritæ faciunt in synagogis, et in vicis, ut honorificentur ab hominibus. Amen dico vobis, receperunt mercedem suam.
   ³ Te autem faciente eleemosynam, nesciat sinistra tua quid faciat dextera tua :
   ⁴ ut sit eleemosyna tua in abscondito, et Pater tuus, qui videt in abscondito, reddet tibi.
   ⁵ Et cum oratis, non eritis sicut hypocritæ qui amant in synagogis et in angulis platearum stantes orare, ut videantur ab hominibus : amen dico vobis, receperunt mercedem suam.
   ⁶ Tu autem cum oraveris, intra in cubiculum tuum, et clauso ostio, ora Patrem tuum in abscondito : et Pater tuus, qui videt in abscondito, reddet tibi.
   ⁷ Orantes autem, nolite multum loqui, sicut ethnici, putant enim quod in multiloquio suo exaudiantur.
