KJV 1 The word of the LORD that came to Micah the Morasthite in the days of Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, which he saw concerning Samaria and Jerusalem.

WLC 1 דְּבַר־ יְהוָ֣ה ׀ אֲשֶׁ֣ר הָיָ֗ה אֶל־ מִיכָה֙ הַמֹּ֣רַשְׁתִּ֔י בִּימֵ֥י יוֹתָ֛ם אָחָ֥ז יְחִזְקִיָּ֖ה מַלְכֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֑ה אֲשֶׁר־ חָזָ֥ה עַל־ שֹׁמְר֖וֹן וִירֽוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

KJV 2 Hear, all ye people; hearken, O earth, and all that therein is: and let the Lord GOD be witness against you, the LORD from his holy temple.

VULC 2 [Audite, populi omnes,
et attendat terra, et plenitudo ejus :
et sit Dominus Deus vobis in testem,
Dominus de templo sancto suo.

KJV 3 For, behold, the LORD cometh forth out of his place, and will come down, and tread upon the high places of the earth.

VULC 3 Quia ecce Dominus egredietur de loco suo,
et descendet, et calcabit super excelsa terræ.

WLC 3 כִּֽי־ הִנֵּ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה יֹצֵ֣א מִמְּקוֹמ֑וֹ וְיָרַ֥ד וְדָרַ֖ךְ עַל־ אָֽרֶץ׃

KJV 4 And the mountains shall be molten under him, and the valleys shall be cleft, as wax before the fire, and as the waters that are poured down a steep place.

VULC 4 Et consumentur montes subtus eum,
et valles scindentur sicut cera a facie ignis,
et sicut aquæ quæ decurrunt in præceps.

WLC 4 וְנָמַ֤סּוּ הֶֽהָרִים֙ תַּחְתָּ֔יו וְהָעֲמָקִ֖ים יִתְבַּקָּ֑עוּ כַּדּוֹנַג֙ מִפְּנֵ֣י הָאֵ֔שׁ כְּמַ֖יִם מֻגָּרִ֥ים בְּמוֹרָֽד׃

KJV 5 For the transgression of Jacob is all this, and for the sins of the house of Israel. What is the transgression of Jacob? is it not Samaria? and what are the high places of Judah? are they not Jerusalem?

VULC 5 In scelere Jacob omne istud,
et in peccatis domus Israël.
Quod scelus Jacob ? nonne Samaria ?
et quæ excelsa Judæ ? nonne Jerusalem ?

WLC 5 בְּפֶ֤שַׁע יַֽעֲקֹב֙ כָּל־ זֹ֔את וּבְחַטֹּ֖אות בֵּ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל מִֽי־ פֶ֣שַׁע יַעֲקֹ֗ב הֲלוֹא֙ שֹֽׁמְר֔וֹן וּמִי֙ בָּמ֣וֹת יְהוּדָ֔ה הֲל֖וֹא יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

KJV 6 Therefore I will make Samaria as an heap of the field, and as plantings of a vineyard: and I will pour down the stones thereof into the valley, and I will discover the foundations thereof.

VULC 6 Et ponam Samariam quasi acervum lapidum in agro,
cum plantatur vinea ;
et detraham in vallem lapides ejus,
et fundamenta ejus revelabo.

WLC 6 וְשַׂמְתִּ֥י שֹׁמְר֛וֹן לְעִ֥י הַשָּׂדֶ֖ה לְמַטָּ֣עֵי כָ֑רֶם וְהִגַּרְתִּ֤י לַגַּי֙ אֲבָנֶ֔יהָ וִיסֹדֶ֖יהָ אֲגַלֶּֽה׃

KJV 7 And all the graven images thereof shall be beaten to pieces, and all the hires thereof shall be burned with the fire, and all the idols thereof will I lay desolate: for she gathered it of the hire of an harlot, and they shall return to the hire of an harlot.

VULC 7 Et omnia sculptilia ejus concidentur,
et omnes mercedes ejus comburentur igne,
et omnia idola ejus ponam in perditionem,
quia de mercedibus meretricis congregata sunt,
et usque ad mercedem meretricis revertentur.

WLC 7 וְכָל־ פְּסִילֶ֣יהָ יֻכַּ֗תּוּ וְכָל־ אֶתְנַנֶּ֙יהָ֙ יִשָּׂרְפ֣וּ בָאֵ֔שׁ וְכָל־ עֲצַבֶּ֖יהָ אָשִׂ֣ים שְׁמָמָ֑ה כִּ֠י מֵאֶתְנַ֤ן זוֹנָה֙ קִבָּ֔צָה וְעַד־ אֶתְנַ֥ן זוֹנָ֖ה יָשֽׁוּבוּ׃

KJV 8 Therefore I will wail and howl, I will go stripped and naked: I will make a wailing like the dragons, and mourning as the owls.

VULC 8 Super hoc plangam, et ululabo ;
vadam spoliatus, et nudus ;
faciam planctum velut draconum,
et luctum quasi struthionum :

WLC 8 עַל־ זֹאת֙ אֶסְפְּדָ֣ה וְאֵילִ֔ילָה אֵילְכָ֥ה וְעָר֑וֹם אֶעֱשֶׂ֤ה מִסְפֵּד֙ כַּתַּנִּ֔ים וְאֵ֖בֶל כִּבְנ֥וֹת יַעֲנָֽה׃

KJV 9 For her wound is incurable; for it is come unto Judah; he is come unto the gate of my people, even to Jerusalem.

VULC 9 quia desperata est plaga ejus,
quia venit usque ad Judam ;
tetigit portam populi mei usque ad Jerusalem.

WLC 9 כִּ֥י אֲנוּשָׁ֖ה מַכּוֹתֶ֑יהָ כִּי־ בָ֙אָה֙ עַד־ יְהוּדָ֔ה נָגַ֛ע עַד־ שַׁ֥עַר עַמִּ֖י עַד־ יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

KJV 10 Declare ye it not at Gath, weep ye not at all: in the house of Aphrah roll thyself in the dust.

VULC 10 In Geth nolite annuntiare ;
lacrimis ne ploretis ;
in domo pulveris pulvere vos conspergite.

WLC 10 בְּגַת֙ אַל־ תַּגִּ֔ידוּ בָּכ֖וֹ אַל־ תִּבְכּ֑וּ בְּבֵ֣ית לְעַפְרָ֔ה עָפָ֖ר

KJV 11 Pass ye away, thou inhabitant of Saphir, having thy shame naked: the inhabitant of Zaanan came not forth in the mourning of Bethezel; he shall receive of you his standing.

VULC 11 Et transite vobis, habitatio pulchra, confusa ignominia :
non est egressa quæ habitat in exitu :
planctum domus vicina accipiet ex vobis, quæ stetit sibimet.

WLC 11 עִבְרִ֥י לָכֶ֛ם יוֹשֶׁ֥בֶת שָׁפִ֖יר עֶרְיָה־ בֹ֑שֶׁת לֹ֤א יָֽצְאָה֙ יוֹשֶׁ֣בֶת צַֽאֲנָ֔ן מִסְפַּד֙ בֵּ֣ית הָאֵ֔צֶל יִקַּ֥ח מִכֶּ֖ם עֶמְדָּתֽוֹ׃

KJV 12 For the inhabitant of Maroth waited carefully for good: but evil came down from the LORD unto the gate of Jerusalem.

VULC 12 Quia infirmata est in bonum,
quæ habitat in amaritudinibus ;
quia descendit malum a Domino in portam Jerusalem.

WLC 12 כִּֽי־ חָ֥לָֽה לְט֖וֹב יוֹשֶׁ֣בֶת מָר֑וֹת כִּֽי־ יָ֤רַד רָע֙ מֵאֵ֣ת יְהוָ֔ה לְשַׁ֖עַר יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

KJV 13 O thou inhabitant of Lachish, bind the chariot to the swift beast: she is the beginning of the sin to the daughter of Zion: for the transgressions of Israel were found in thee.

VULC 13 Tumultus quadrigæ stuporis habitanti Lachis :
principium peccati est filiæ Sion,
quia in te inventa sunt scelera Israël.

WLC 13 רְתֹ֧ם הַמֶּרְכָּבָ֛ה לָרֶ֖כֶשׁ יוֹשֶׁ֣בֶת לָכִ֑ישׁ רֵאשִׁ֨ית חַטָּ֥את הִיא֙ לְבַת־ צִיּ֔וֹן כִּי־ בָ֥ךְ נִמְצְא֖וּ פִּשְׁעֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

KJV 14 Therefore shalt thou give presents to Moreshethgath: the houses of Achzib shall be a lie to the kings of Israel.

VULC 14 Propterea dabit emissarios super hæreditatem Geth,
domus mendacii in deceptionem regibus Israël.

WLC 14 לָכֵן֙ תִּתְּנִ֣י שִׁלּוּחִ֔ים עַ֖ל מוֹרֶ֣שֶׁת גַּ֑ת בָּתֵּ֤י אַכְזִיב֙ לְאַכְזָ֔ב לְמַלְכֵ֖י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

KJV 15 Yet will I bring an heir unto thee, O inhabitant of Mareshah: he shall come unto Adullam the glory of Israel.

VULC 15 Adhuc hæredem adducam tibi quæ habitas in Maresa ;
usque ad Odollam veniet gloria Israël.

WLC 15 עֹ֗ד הַיֹּרֵשׁ֙ אָ֣בִי לָ֔ךְ יוֹשֶׁ֖בֶת מָֽרֵשָׁ֑ה עַד־ עֲדֻּלָּ֥ם יָב֖וֹא כְּב֥וֹד יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

KJV 16 Make thee bald, and poll thee for thy delicate children; enlarge thy baldness as the eagle; for they are gone into captivity from thee.

VULC 16 Decalvare, et tondere super filios deliciarum tuarum ;
dilata calvitium tuum sicut aquila,
quoniam captivi ducti sunt ex te.]

WLC 16 קָרְחִ֣י וָגֹ֔זִּי עַל־ בְּנֵ֖י תַּעֲנוּגָ֑יִךְ הַרְחִ֤בִי קָרְחָתֵךְ֙ כַּנֶּ֔שֶׁר כִּ֥י גָל֖וּ מִמֵּֽךְ׃

KJV 1 Woe to them that devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! when the morning is light, they practise it, because it is in the power of their hand.

VULC 1 [Væ qui cogitatis inutile,
et operamini malum in cubilibus vestris !
In luce matutina faciunt illud,
quoniam contra Deum est manus eorum.

WLC 1 ה֧וֹי חֹֽשְׁבֵי־ אָ֛וֶן וּפֹ֥עֲלֵי רָ֖ע עַל־ מִשְׁכְּבוֹתָ֑ם בְּא֤וֹר הַבֹּ֙קֶר֙ יַעֲשׂ֔וּהָ כִּ֥י יֶשׁ־ לְאֵ֖ל יָדָֽם׃

KJV 2 And they covet fields, and take them by violence; and houses, and take them away: so they oppress a man and his house, even a man and his heritage.

VULC 2 Et concupierunt agros, et violenter tulerunt :
et rapuerunt domos,
et calumniabantur virum, et domum ejus :
virum, et hæreditatem ejus.

WLC 2 וְחָמְד֤וּ שָׂדוֹת֙ וְגָזָ֔לוּ וּבָתִּ֖ים וְנָשָׂ֑אוּ וְעָֽשְׁקוּ֙ גֶּ֣בֶר וּבֵית֔וֹ וְאִ֖ישׁ וְנַחֲלָתֽוֹ׃

KJV 3 Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, against this family do I devise an evil, from which ye shall not remove your necks; neither shall ye go haughtily: for this time is evil.

VULC 3 Idcirco hæc dicit Dominus :
Ecce ego cogito super familiam istam malum,
unde non auferetis colla vestra,
et non ambulabitis superbi :
quoniam tempus pessimum est.

WLC 3 לָכֵ֗ן כֹּ֚ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה הִנְנִ֥י חֹשֵׁ֛ב עַל־ הַמִּשְׁפָּחָ֥ה הַזֹּ֖את רָעָ֑ה אֲ֠שֶׁר לֹֽא־ תָמִ֨ישׁוּ מִשָּׁ֜ם צַוְּארֹֽתֵיכֶ֗ם וְלֹ֤א תֵֽלְכוּ֙ רוֹמָ֔ה כִּ֛י עֵ֥ת רָעָ֖ה הִֽיא׃

KJV 4 In that day shall one take up a parable against you, and lament with a doleful lamentation, and say, We be utterly spoiled: he hath changed the portion of my people: how hath he removed it from me! turning away he hath divided our fields.

VULC 4 In die illa sumetur super vos parabola,
et cantabitur canticum cum suavitate, dicentium :
Depopulatione vastati sumus ;
pars populi mei commutata est :
quomodo recedet a me, cum revertatur,
qui regiones nostras dividat ?

WLC 4 בַּיּ֨וֹם הַה֜וּא יִשָּׂ֧א עֲלֵיכֶ֣ם מָשָׁ֗ל וְנָהָ֨ה נְהִ֤י נִֽהְיָה֙ אָמַר֙ שָׁד֣וֹד נְשַׁדֻּ֔נוּ חֵ֥לֶק עַמִּ֖י יָמִ֑יר אֵ֚יךְ יָמִ֣ישׁ לִ֔י לְשׁוֹבֵ֥ב שָׂדֵ֖ינוּ יְחַלֵּֽק׃

KJV 5 Therefore thou shalt have none that shall cast a cord by lot in the congregation of the LORD.

VULC 5 Propter hoc non erit tibi mittens funiculum sortis in cœtu Domini.

WLC 5 לָכֵן֙ לֹֽא־ יִֽהְיֶ֣ה לְךָ֔ מַשְׁלִ֥יךְ חֶ֖בֶל בְּגוֹרָ֑ל בִּקְהַ֖ל יְהוָֽה׃

KJV 6 Prophesy ye not, say they to them that prophesy: they shall not prophesy to them, that they shall not take shame.

VULC 6 Ne loquamini loquentes ;
non stillabit super istos, non comprehendet confusio.

KJV 7 O thou that art named the house of Jacob, is the spirit of the LORD straitened? are these his doings? do not my words do good to him that walketh uprightly?

Numquid abbreviatus est spiritus Domini,
aut tales sunt cogitationes ejus ?
nonne verba mea bona sunt cum eo qui recte graditur ?

KJV 8 Even of late my people is risen up as an enemy: ye pull off the robe with the garment from them that pass by securely as men averse from war.

VULC 8 et e contrario populus meus in adversarium consurrexit.
Desuper tunica pallium sustulistis :
et eos qui transibant simpliciter convertistis in bellum.

WLC 8 וְאֶתְמ֗וּל עַמִּי֙ לְאוֹיֵ֣ב יְקוֹמֵ֔ם מִמּ֣וּל שַׂלְמָ֔ה אֶ֖דֶר תַּפְשִׁט֑וּן מֵעֹבְרִ֣ים בֶּ֔טַח שׁוּבֵ֖י מִלְחָמָֽה׃

KJV 9 The women of my people have ye cast out from their pleasant houses; from their children have ye taken away my glory for ever.

VULC 9 Mulieres populi mei ejecistis de domo deliciarum suarum ;
a parvulis earum tulistis laudem meam in perpetuum.

KJV 10 Arise ye, and depart; for this is not your rest: because it is polluted, it shall destroy you, even with a sore destruction.

KJV 11 If a man walking in the spirit and falsehood do lie, saying, I will prophesy unto thee of wine and of strong drink; he shall even be the prophet of this people.

VULC 11 Utinam non essem vir habens spiritum,
et mendacium potius loquerer !
Stillabo tibi in vinum et in ebrietatem ;
et erit super quem stillatur populus iste.

KJV 12 I will surely assemble, O Jacob, all of thee; I will surely gather the remnant of Israel; I will put them together as the sheep of Bozrah, as the flock in the midst of their fold: they shall make great noise by reason of the multitude of men.

VULC 12 Congregatione congregabo, Jacob, totum te ;
in unum conducam reliquias Israël :
pariter ponam illum quasi gregem in ovili,
quasi pecus in medio caularum :
tumultuabuntur a multitudine hominum.

KJV 13 The breaker is come up before them: they have broken up, and have passed through the gate, and are gone out by it: and their king shall pass before them, and the LORD on the head of them.
