KJV ¹ Ephraim feedeth on wind, and followeth after the east wind: he daily increaseth lies and desolation; and they do make a covenant with the Assyrians, and oil is carried into Egypt.

et la communauté d'Israël de tromperie.
Juda est encore sans frein vis-à-vis de Dieu,
vis-à-vis du Saint fidèle.

VULC ¹ [Ephraim pascit ventum,
et sequitur æstum ;
tota die mendacium et vastitatem multiplicat :
et fœdus cum Assyriis iniit,
et oleum in Ægyptum ferebat.

WLC ¹ סְבָבֻ֤נִי בְכַ֙חַשׁ֙ אֶפְרַ֔יִם וּבְמִרְמָ֖ה בֵּ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וִֽיהוּדָ֗ה עֹ֥ד רָד֙ עִם־ אֵ֔ל וְעִם־ קְדוֹשִׁ֖ים נֶאֱמָֽן׃

KJV ² The LORD hath also a controversy with Judah, and will punish Jacob according to his ways; according to his doings will he recompense him.

S21 ² Ephraïm se nourrit de vent et poursuit le vent d'est;
chaque jour il multiplie le mensonge et la violence.
Il fait alliance avec l'Assyrie
et on porte de l'huile en Egypte.

VULC ² Judicium ergo Domini cum Juda,
et visitatio super Jacob :
juxta vias ejus, et juxta adinventiones ejus reddet ei.

WLC ² אֶפְרַ֜יִם רֹעֶ֥ה ר֙וּחַ֙ וְרֹדֵ֣ף קָדִ֔ים כָּל־ הַיּ֕וֹם כָּזָ֥ב וָשֹׁ֖ד יַרְבֶּ֑ה וּבְרִית֙ עִם־ אַשּׁ֣וּר יִכְרֹ֔תוּ וְשֶׁ֖מֶן לְמִצְרַ֥יִם יוּבָֽל׃

KJV ³ He took his brother by the heel in the womb, and by his strength he had power with God:

S21 ³ L'Eternel est aussi en procès avec Juda,
et il interviendra contre Jacob en fonction de sa conduite,
il lui paiera un salaire conforme à ses agissements.

VULC ³ In utero supplantavit fratrem suum,
et in fortitudine sua directus est cum angelo.

WLC ³ וְרִ֥יב לַֽיהוָ֖ה עִם־ יְהוּדָ֑ה וְלִפְקֹ֤ד עַֽל־ יַעֲקֹב֙ כִּדְרָכָ֔יו כְּמַעֲלָלָ֖יו יָשִׁ֥יב לֽוֹ׃

KJV ⁴ Yea, he had power over the angel, and prevailed: he wept, and made supplication unto him: he found him in Bethel, and there he spake with us;

S21 ⁴ Dans le ventre maternel, Jacob a attrapé son frère par le talon
et, devenu homme, il a lutté avec Dieu.

VULC ⁴ Et invaluit ad angelum, et confortatus est ;
flevit, et rogavit eum.
In Bethel invenit eum,
et ibi locutus est nobiscum.

WLC ⁴ בַּבֶּ֖טֶן עָקַ֣ב אֶת־ אָחִ֑יו וּבְאוֹנ֖וֹ שָׂרָ֥ה אֶת־ אֱלֹהִֽים׃

KJV ⁵ Even the LORD God of hosts; the LORD is his memorial.

S21 ⁵ Il a lutté avec l'ange, et il a été vainqueur,
il a pleuré et lui a adressé des supplications.
Jacob l'avait trouvé à Béthel,
et c'est là que Dieu nous a parlé.

VULC ⁵ Et Dominus Deus exercituum,
Dominus memoriale ejus.

WLC ⁵ וָיָּ֤שַׂר אֶל־ מַלְאָךְ֙ וַיֻּכָ֔ל בָּכָ֖ה וַיִּתְחַנֶּן־ ל֑וֹ בֵּֽית־ אֵל֙ יִמְצָאֶ֔נּוּ וְשָׁ֖ם יְדַבֵּ֥ר עִמָּֽנוּ׃

KJV ⁶ Therefore turn thou to thy God: keep mercy and judgment and wait on thy God continually.

S21 ⁶ L'Eternel est le Dieu de l'univers;
son nom est l'Eternel.

VULC ⁶ Et tu ad Deum tuum converteris ;
misericordiam et judicium custodi,
et spera in Deo tuo semper.

WLC ⁶ וַֽיהוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵ֣י הַצְּבָא֑וֹת יְהוָ֖ה זִכְרֽוֹ׃
