KJV ¹ When I would have healed Israel, then the iniquity of Ephraim was discovered, and the wickedness of Samaria: for they commit falsehood; and the thief cometh in, and the troop of robbers spoileth without.

WLC ² וּבַל־ יֹֽאמְרוּ֙ לִלְבָבָ֔ם כָּל־ רָעָתָ֖ם זָכָ֑רְתִּי עַתָּה֙ סְבָב֣וּם מַֽעַלְלֵיהֶ֔ם נֶ֥גֶד פָּנַ֖י הָיֽוּ׃

KJV ³ They make the king glad with their wickedness, and the princes with their lies.

WLC ³ בְּרָעָתָ֖ם יְשַׂמְּחוּ־ מֶ֑לֶךְ וּבְכַחֲשֵׁיהֶ֖ם שָׂרִֽים׃

KJV ⁴ They are all adulterers, as an oven heated by the baker, who ceaseth from raising after he hath kneaded the dough, until it be leavened.

NEG ⁴ Ils sont tous adultères, Semblables à un four chauffé par le boulanger: Il cesse d'attiser le feu Depuis qu'il a pétri la pâte jusqu'à ce qu'elle soit levée.

WLC ⁴ כֻּלָּם֙ מְנָ֣אֲפִ֔ים כְּמ֣וֹ תַנּ֔וּר בֹּעֵ֖רָה מֵֽאֹפֶ֑ה יִשְׁבּ֣וֹת מֵעִ֔יר מִלּ֥וּשׁ בָּצֵ֖ק עַד־ חֻמְצָתֽוֹ׃

KJV ⁵ In the day of our king the princes have made him sick with bottles of wine; he stretched out his hand with scorners.

KJV ⁶ For they have made ready their heart like an oven, whiles they lie in wait: their baker sleepeth all the night; in the morning it burneth as a flaming fire.

KJV ⁷ They are all hot as an oven, and have devoured their judges; all their kings are fallen: there is none among them that calleth unto me.

KJV ⁸ Ephraim, he hath mixed himself among the people; Ephraim is a cake not turned.

KJV ⁹ Strangers have devoured his strength, and he knoweth it not: yea, gray hairs are here and there upon him, yet he knoweth not.

KJV ¹⁰ And the pride of Israel testifieth to his face: and they do not return to the LORD their God, nor seek him for all this.

KJV ¹¹ Ephraim also is like a silly dove without heart: they call to Egypt, they go to Assyria.

KJV ¹² When they shall go, I will spread my net upon them; I will bring them down as the fowls of the heaven; I will chastise them, as their congregation hath heard.

KJV ¹⁴ And they have not cried unto me with their heart, when they howled upon their beds: they assemble themselves for corn and wine, and they rebel against me.

KJV ¹⁵ Though I have bound and strengthened their arms, yet do they imagine mischief against me.

KJV ¹⁶ They return, but not to the most High: they are like a deceitful bow: their princes shall fall by the sword for the rage of their tongue: this shall be their derision in the land of Egypt.

NEG ¹⁶ Ce n'est pas au Très-Haut qu'ils retournent; Ils sont comme un arc trompeur. Leurs chefs tomberont par l'épée, A cause de l'insolence de leur langue. C'est ce qui les rendra un objet de risée dans le pays d'Egypte.

KJV ¹ Set the trumpet to thy mouth. He shall come as an eagle against the house of the LORD, because they have transgressed my covenant, and trespassed against my law.

KJV ² Israel shall cry unto me, My God, we know thee.

KJV ⁴ They have set up kings, but not by me: they have made princes, and I knew it not: of their silver and their gold have they made them idols, that they may be cut off.

KJV ⁵ Thy calf, O Samaria, hath cast thee off; mine anger is kindled against them: how long will it be ere they attain to innocency?

NEG ⁵ L'Eternel a rejeté ton veau, Samarie! Ma colère s'est enflammée contre eux. Jusqu'à quand refuseront-ils de se purifier?

WLC ⁵ זָנַח֙ עֶגְלֵ֣ךְ שֹֽׁמְר֔וֹן חָרָ֥ה אַפִּ֖י בָּ֑ם עַד־ מָתַ֕י לֹ֥א יוּכְל֖וּ נִקָּיֹֽן׃

KJV ⁶ For from Israel was it also: the workman made it; therefore it is not God: but the calf of Samaria shall be broken in pieces.

KJV ⁷ For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: it hath no stalk; the bud shall yield no meal: if so be it yield, the strangers shall swallow it up.

KJV ⁸ Israel is swallowed up: now shall they be among the Gentiles as a vessel wherein is no pleasure.

KJV ⁹ For they are gone up to Assyria, a wild ass alone by himself: Ephraim hath hired lovers.

KJV ¹⁰ Yea, though they have hired among the nations, now will I gather them, and they shall sorrow a little for the burden of the king of princes.

KJV ¹¹ Because Ephraim hath made many altars to sin, altars shall be unto him to sin.

KJV ¹² I have written to him the great things of my law, but they were counted as a strange thing.

KJV ¹⁴ For Israel hath forgotten his Maker, and buildeth temples; and Judah hath multiplied fenced cities: but I will send a fire upon his cities, and it shall devour the palaces thereof.

NEG ¹⁴ Israël a oublié celui qui l'a fait, Et a bâti des palais, Et Juda a multiplié les villes fortes; Mais j'enverrai le feu dans leurs villes, Et il en dévorera les palais.

KJV ¹ Rejoice not, O Israel, for joy, as other people: for thou hast gone a whoring from thy God, thou hast loved a reward upon every cornfloor.

NEG ¹ Israël, ne te livre pas à la joie, à l'allégresse, comme les peuples, De ce que tu t'es prostitué en abandonnant l'Eternel, De ce que tu as aimé un salaire impur dans toutes les aires à blé!

WLC ¹ אַל־ תִּשְׂמַ֨ח יִשְׂרָאֵ֤ל ׀ אֶל־ גִּיל֙ כָּֽעַמִּ֔ים כִּ֥י זָנִ֖יתָ מֵעַ֣ל אֱלֹהֶ֑יךָ אָהַ֣בְתָּ אֶתְנָ֔ן עַ֖ל כָּל־ גָּרְנ֥וֹת דָּגָֽן׃

KJV ² The floor and the winepress shall not feed them, and the new wine shall fail in her.

NEG ² L'aire et le pressoir ne les nourriront pas, Et le moût leur fera défaut.

WLC ² גֹּ֥רֶן וָיֶ֖קֶב לֹ֣א יִרְעֵ֑ם וְתִיר֖וֹשׁ יְכַ֥חֶשׁ בָּֽהּ׃

KJV ³ They shall not dwell in the LORD's land; but Ephraim shall return to Egypt, and they shall eat unclean things in Assyria.

NEG ³ Ils ne resteront pas dans le pays de l'Eternel; Ephraïm retournera en Egypte, Et ils mangeront en Assyrie des aliments impurs.

WLC ³ לֹ֥א יֵשְׁב֖וּ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ יְהוָ֑ה וְשָׁ֤ב אֶפְרַ֙יִם֙ מִצְרַ֔יִם וּבְאַשּׁ֖וּר טָמֵ֥א יֹאכֵֽלוּ׃

KJV ⁴ They shall not offer wine offerings to the LORD, neither shall they be pleasing unto him: their sacrifices shall be unto them as the bread of mourners; all that eat thereof shall be polluted: for their bread for their soul shall not come into the house of the LORD.

NEG ⁴ Ils ne feront pas à l'Eternel des libations de vin: Elles ne lui seraient point agréables. Leurs sacrifices seront pour eux comme un pain de deuil; Tous ceux qui en mangeront se rendront impurs; Car leur pain ne sera que pour eux, Il n'entrera point dans la maison de l'Eternel.

WLC ⁴ לֹא־ יִסְּכ֨וּ לַיהוָ֥ה ׀ יַיִן֮ וְלֹ֣א יֶֽעֶרְבוּ־ לוֹ֒ זִבְחֵיהֶ֗ם כְּלֶ֤חֶם אוֹנִים֙ לָהֶ֔ם כָּל־ אֹכְלָ֖יו יִטַמָּ֑אוּ כִּֽי־ לַחְמָ֣ם לְנַפְשָׁ֔ם לֹ֥א יָב֖וֹא בֵּ֥ית יְהוָֽה׃

KJV ⁵ What will ye do in the solemn day, and in the day of the feast of the LORD?

WLC ⁵ מַֽה־ תַּעֲשׂ֖וּ לְי֣וֹם מוֹעֵ֑ד וּלְי֖וֹם חַג־ יְהוָֽה׃

KJV ⁶ For, lo, they are gone because of destruction: Egypt shall gather them up, Memphis shall bury them: the pleasant places for their silver, nettles shall possess them: thorns shall be in their tabernacles.

KJV ⁷ The days of visitation are come, the days of recompence are come; Israel shall know it: the prophet is a fool, the spiritual man is mad, for the multitude of thine iniquity, and the great hatred.

KJV ⁸ The watchman of Ephraim was with my God: but the prophet is a snare of a fowler in all his ways, and hatred in the house of his God.

KJV ¹⁰ I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers as the firstripe in the fig tree at her first time: but they went to Baalpeor, and separated themselves unto that shame; and their abominations were according as they loved.

KJV ¹¹ As for Ephraim, their glory shall fly away like a bird, from the birth, and from the womb, and from the conception.

NEG ¹¹ La gloire d'Ephraïm s'envolera comme un oiseau: Plus de naissance, plus de grossesse, plus de conception.

KJV ¹³ Ephraim, as I saw Tyrus, is planted in a pleasant place: but Ephraim shall bring forth his children to the murderer.

NEG ¹³ Ephraïm, aussi loin que portent mes regards du côté de Tyr, Est planté dans un lieu agréable; Mais Ephraïm mènera ses enfants vers celui qui les tuera.

KJV ¹⁴ Give them, O LORD: what wilt thou give? give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts.

KJV ¹⁵ All their wickedness is in Gilgal: for there I hated them: for the wickedness of their doings I will drive them out of mine house, I will love them no more: all their princes are revolters.

NEG ¹⁵ Toute leur méchanceté se montre à Guilgal; C'est là que je les ai pris en aversion. A cause de la malice de leurs œuvres, Je les chasserai de ma maison. Je ne les aimerai plus; Tous leurs chefs sont des rebelles.

WLC ¹⁵ כָּל־ רָעָתָ֤ם בַּגִּלְגָּל֙ כִּֽי־ שָׁ֣ם שְׂנֵאתִ֔ים עַ֚ל רֹ֣עַ מַֽעַלְלֵיהֶ֔ם מִבֵּיתִ֖י אֲגָרְשֵׁ֑ם לֹ֤א אוֹסֵף֙ אַהֲבָתָ֔ם כָּל־ שָׂרֵיהֶ֖ם סֹרְרִֽים׃

KJV ¹⁶ Ephraim is smitten, their root is dried up, they shall bear no fruit: yea, though they bring forth, yet will I slay even the beloved fruit of their womb.

NEG ¹⁶ Ephraïm est frappé, sa racine est devenue sèche; Ils ne porteront plus de fruit; Et s'ils ont des enfants, Je ferai périr les objets de leur tendresse.
