Os 7:8-16 (Darby)

   ⁸ Éphraïm s'est mêlé avec les peuples ; Éphraïm est un gâteau qu'on n'a pas retourné. ⁹ Des étrangers ont consumé sa force, et il ne le sait pas. Des cheveux gris sont aussi parsemés sur lui, et il ne le sait pas. ¹⁰ Et l'orgueil d'Israël témoigne en face contre lui, et ils ne se tournent pas vers l'Éternel, leur Dieu, et ils ne le recherchent pas malgré tout cela. ¹¹ Éphraïm est devenu comme une colombe niaise, sans intelligence ; ils appellent l'Égypte, ils vont vers l'Assyrie. ¹² Dès qu'ils iront, j'étendrai sur eux mon filet, je les ferai descendre comme les oiseaux des cieux. Je les châtierai selon que leur assemblée l'a entendu. ¹³ Malheur à eux, car ils se sont enfuis loin de moi ! Ruine sur eux, car ils se sont rebellés contre moi ! Et moi, je voulais les racheter, mais ils disent* des mensonges contre moi ; ¹⁴ et ils n'ont pas crié à moi dans leur cœur, quand ils ont hurlé sur leurs lits. Ils se rassemblent pour du froment et du moût ; ils se sont retirés de moi. ¹⁵ Et moi, j'ai châtié ; j'ai fortifié leurs bras : et ils ont médité le mal contre moi ; ¹⁶ ils retournent, [mais] non au [Très]-Haut ; ils sont comme un arc trompeur. Leurs princes tomberont par l'épée, à cause de l'insolence de leur langue : cela fera d'eux un objet de risée dans le pays d'Égypte.

   ⁸ Ephraim, he hath mixed himself among the people; Ephraim is a cake not turned. ⁹ Strangers have devoured his strength, and he knoweth it not: yea, gray hairs are here and there upon him, yet he knoweth not. ¹⁰ And the pride of Israel testifieth to his face: and they do not return to the LORD their God, nor seek him for all this. ¹¹ Ephraim also is like a silly dove without heart: they call to Egypt, they go to Assyria. ¹² When they shall go, I will spread my net upon them; I will bring them down as the fowls of the heaven; I will chastise them, as their congregation hath heard. ¹³ Woe unto them! for they have fled from me: destruction unto them! because they have transgressed against me: though I have redeemed them, yet they have spoken lies against me. ¹⁴ And they have not cried unto me with their heart, when they howled upon their beds: they assemble themselves for corn and wine, and they rebel against me. ¹⁵ Though I have bound and strengthened their arms, yet do they imagine mischief against me. ¹⁶ They return, but not to the most High: they are like a deceitful bow: their princes shall fall by the sword for the rage of their tongue: this shall be their derision in the land of Egypt.

   ⁸ Ephraim in populis ipse commiscebatur ;
Ephraim factus est subcinericius panis, qui non reversatur.
   ⁹ Comederunt alieni robur ejus, et ipse nescivit ;
sed et cani effusi sunt in eo, et ipse ignoravit.
   ¹⁰ Et humiliabitur superbia Israël in facie ejus ;
nec reversi sunt ad Dominum Deum suum,
et non quæsierunt eum in omnibus his.
   ¹¹ Et factus est Ephraim quasi columba seducta non habens cor.
Ægyptum invocabant ; ad Assyrios abierunt.
   ¹² Et cum profecti fuerint,
expandam super eos rete meum :
quasi volucrem cæli detraham eos ;
cædam eos secundum auditionem cœtus eorum.
   ¹³ Væ eis, quoniam recesserunt a me !
vastabuntur, quia prævaricati sunt in me,
et ego redemi eos,
et ipsi locuti sunt contra me mendacia.
   ¹⁴ Et non clamaverunt ad me in corde suo,
sed ululabant in cubilibus suis :
super triticum et vinum ruminabant ;
recesserunt a me.
   ¹⁵ Et ego erudivi eos, et confortavi brachia eorum,
et in me cogitaverunt malitiam.
   ¹⁶ Reversi sunt ut essent absque jugo ;
facti sunt quasi arcus dolosus :
cadent in gladio principes eorum, a furore linguæ suæ.
Ista subsannatio eorum in terra Ægypti.]
