BAN ¹ Mon fils, si tu accueilles mes paroles,
Si tu gardes soigneusement mes préceptes,

KJV ¹ My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;

BAN ² Prêtant l'oreille à la sagesse,
Inclinant ton coeur à l'intelligence ;

KJV ² So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;

BAN ³ Oui, si tu invoques le discernement,
Si tu adresses tes appels à l'intelligence ;

KJV ³ Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;

BAN ⁴ Si tu la cherches comme de l'argent,
Si tu la recherches comme des trésors cachés,

KJV ⁴ If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;

BAN ⁵ Alors tu comprendras la crainte de l'Eternel,
Et tu trouveras la connaissance de Dieu.

KJV ⁵ Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

BAN ⁶ Car l'Eternel donne la sagesse ;
De sa bouche viennent la connaissance et l'intelligence.

KJV ⁶ For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

BAN ⁷ Il réserve le salut aux hommes droits ;
Il est un bouclier pour ceux qui marchent dans l'intégrité,

KJV ⁷ He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.

BAN ⁸ Protégeant les sentiers de la droiture,
Veillant sur la voie de ses bien-aimés.

KJV ⁸ He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.

BAN ⁹ Alors tu discerneras la justice et la droiture
Et la probité, toute voie qui mène au bien.

KJV ⁹ Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.
