KJV 1 My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.

WLC 1 בְּ֭נִי שְׁמֹ֣ר אֲמָרָ֑י וּ֝מִצְוֺתַ֗י תִּצְפֹּ֥ן אִתָּֽךְ׃

KJV 2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.

WLC 2 שְׁמֹ֣ר מִצְוֺתַ֣י וֶחְיֵ֑ה וְ֝תוֹרָתִ֗י כְּאִישׁ֥וֹן עֵינֶֽיךָ׃

KJV 3 Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.

WLC 3 קָשְׁרֵ֥ם עַל־ אֶצְבְּעֹתֶ֑יךָ כָּ֝תְבֵ֗ם עַל־ ל֥וּחַ לִבֶּֽךָ׃

KJV 4 Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister; and call understanding thy kinswoman:

WLC 4 אֱמֹ֣ר לַֽ֭חָכְמָה אֲחֹ֣תִי אָ֑תְּ וּ֝מֹדָ֗ע לַבִּינָ֥ה תִקְרָֽא׃

KJV 5 That they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger which flattereth with her words.

WLC 5 לִ֭שְׁמָרְךָ מֵאִשָּׁ֣ה זָרָ֑ה מִ֝נָּכְרִיָּ֗ה אֲמָרֶ֥יהָ הֶחֱלִֽיקָה׃

KJV 6 For at the window of my house I looked through my casement,

WLC 6 כִּ֭י בְּחַלּ֣וֹן בֵּיתִ֑י בְּעַ֖ד אֶשְׁנַבִּ֣י נִשְׁקָֽפְתִּי׃

KJV 7 And beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding,

WLC 7 וָאֵ֤רֶא בַפְּתָאיִ֗ם אָ֘בִ֤ינָה בַבָּנִ֗ים נַ֣עַר חֲסַר־ לֵֽב׃

KJV 8 Passing through the street near her corner; and he went the way to her house,

WLC 8 עֹבֵ֣ר בַּ֭שּׁוּק אֵ֣צֶל פִּנָּ֑הּ וְדֶ֖רֶךְ בֵּיתָ֣הּ יִצְעָֽד׃

KJV 9 In the twilight, in the evening, in the black and dark night:

WLC 9 בְּנֶֽשֶׁף־ בְּעֶ֥רֶב י֑וֹם בְּאִישׁ֥וֹן לַ֝֗יְלָה וַאֲפֵלָֽה׃

KJV 10 And, behold, there met him a woman with the attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart.

WLC 10 וְהִנֵּ֣ה אִ֭שָּׁה לִקְרָאת֑וֹ שִׁ֥ית ז֝וֹנָ֗ה וּנְצֻ֥רַת לֵֽב׃

KJV 11 (She is loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house:

WLC 11 הֹמִיָּ֣ה הִ֣יא וְסֹרָ֑רֶת בְּ֝בֵיתָ֗הּ לֹא־ יִשְׁכְּנ֥וּ רַגְלֶֽיהָ׃

KJV 12 Now is she without, now in the streets, and lieth in wait at every corner.)

WLC 12 פַּ֤עַם ׀ בַּח֗וּץ פַּ֥עַם בָּרְחֹב֑וֹת וְאֵ֖צֶל כָּל־ פִּנָּ֣ה תֶאֱרֹֽב׃

KJV 13 So she caught him, and kissed him, and with an impudent face said unto him,

WLC 13 וְהֶחֱזִ֣יקָה בּ֭וֹ וְנָ֣שְׁקָה־ לּ֑וֹ הֵעֵ֥זָה פָ֝נֶ֗יהָ וַתֹּ֣אמַר לֽוֹ׃

KJV 14 I have peace offerings with me; this day have I payed my vows.

WLC 14 זִבְחֵ֣י שְׁלָמִ֣ים עָלָ֑י הַ֝יּ֗וֹם שִׁלַּ֥מְתִּי נְדָרָֽי׃

KJV 15 Therefore came I forth to meet thee, diligently to seek thy face, and I have found thee.

WLC 15 עַל־ כֵּ֭ן יָצָ֣אתִי לִקְרָאתֶ֑ךָ לְשַׁחֵ֥ר פָּ֝נֶ֗יךָ וָאֶמְצָאֶֽךָּ׃

KJV 16 I have decked my bed with coverings of tapestry, with carved works, with fine linen of Egypt.

WLC 16 מַ֭רְבַדִּים רָבַ֣דְתִּי עַרְשִׂ֑י חֲ֝טֻב֗וֹת אֵט֥וּן מִצְרָֽיִם׃

KJV 17 I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.

WLC 17 נַ֥פְתִּי מִשְׁכָּבִ֑י מֹ֥ר אֲ֝הָלִ֗ים וְקִנָּמֽוֹן׃

KJV 18 Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning: let us solace ourselves with loves.

WLC 18 לְכָ֤ה נִרְוֶ֣ה דֹ֭דִים עַד־ הַבֹּ֑קֶר נִ֝תְעַלְּסָ֗ה בָּאֳהָבִֽים׃

KJV 19 For the goodman is not at home, he is gone a long journey:

WLC 19 כִּ֤י אֵ֣ין הָאִ֣ישׁ בְּבֵית֑וֹ הָ֝לַ֗ךְ בְּדֶ֣רֶךְ מֵרָחֽוֹק׃

KJV 20 He hath taken a bag of money with him, and will come home at the day appointed.

WLC 20 צְֽרוֹר־ הַ֭כֶּסֶף לָקַ֣ח בְּיָד֑וֹ לְי֥וֹם הַ֝כֵּ֗סֶא יָבֹ֥א בֵיתֽוֹ׃

KJV 21 With her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she forced him.

WLC 21 הִ֭טַּתּוּ בְּרֹ֣ב לִקְחָ֑הּ בְּחֵ֥לֶק שְׂ֝פָתֶ֗יהָ תַּדִּיחֶֽנּוּ׃

KJV 22 He goeth after her straightway, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks;

WLC 22 ה֤וֹלֵ֥ךְ אַחֲרֶ֗יהָ פִּ֫תְאֹ֥ם כְּ֭שׁוֹר אֶל־ טָ֣בַח יָב֑וֹא וּ֝כְעֶ֗כֶס אֶל־ מוּסַ֥ר אֱוִֽיל׃

KJV 23 Till a dart strike through his liver; as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it is for his life.

WLC 23 עַ֤ד יְפַלַּ֪ח חֵ֡ץ כְּֽבֵד֗וֹ כְּמַהֵ֣ר צִפּ֣וֹר אֶל־ פָּ֑ח וְלֹֽא־ יָ֝דַ֗ע כִּֽי־ בְנַפְשׁ֥וֹ הֽוּא׃

KJV 24 Hearken unto me now therefore, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth.

WLC 24 וְעַתָּ֣ה בָ֭נִים שִׁמְעוּ־ לִ֑י וְ֝הַקְשִׁ֗יבוּ לְאִמְרֵי־ פִֽי׃

KJV 25 Let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths.

WLC 25 אַל־ יֵ֣שְׂטְ אֶל־ דְּרָכֶ֣יהָ לִבֶּ֑ךָ אַל־ תֵּ֝תַע בִּנְתִיבוֹתֶֽיהָ׃

KJV 26 For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong men have been slain by her.

WLC 26 כִּֽי־ רַבִּ֣ים חֲלָלִ֣ים הִפִּ֑ילָה וַ֝עֲצֻמִ֗ים כָּל־ הֲרֻגֶֽיהָ׃

KJV 27 Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.

WLC 27 דַּרְכֵ֣י שְׁא֣וֹל בֵּיתָ֑הּ יֹ֝רְד֗וֹת אֶל־ חַדְרֵי־ מָֽוֶת׃

KJV 1 Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice?

WLC 1 הֲלֹֽא־ חָכְמָ֥ה תִקְרָ֑א וּ֝תְבוּנָ֗ה תִּתֵּ֥ן קוֹלָֽהּ׃

KJV 2 She standeth in the top of high places, by the way in the places of the paths.

WLC 2 בְּרֹאשׁ־ מְרוֹמִ֥ים עֲלֵי־ דָ֑רֶךְ בֵּ֖ית נְתִיב֣וֹת נִצָּֽבָה׃

KJV 3 She crieth at the gates, at the entry of the city, at the coming in at the doors.

WLC 3 לְיַד־ שְׁעָרִ֥ים לְפִי־ קָ֑רֶת מְב֖וֹא פְתָחִ֣ים תָּרֹֽנָּה׃

KJV 4 Unto you, O men, I call; and my voice is to the sons of man.

WLC 4 אֲלֵיכֶ֣ם אִישִׁ֣ים אֶקְרָ֑א וְ֝קוֹלִ֗י אֶל־ בְּנֵ֥י אָדָֽם׃

KJV 5 O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart.

WLC 5 הָבִ֣ינוּ פְתָאיִ֣ם עָרְמָ֑ה וּ֝כְסִילִ֗ים הָבִ֥ינוּ לֵֽב׃

KJV 6 Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things.

WLC 6 שִׁ֭מְעוּ כִּֽי־ נְגִידִ֣ים אֲדַבֵּ֑ר וּמִפְתַּ֥ח שְׂ֝פָתַ֗י מֵישָׁרִֽים׃

KJV 7 For my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips.

WLC 7 כִּֽי־ אֱ֭מֶת יֶהְגֶּ֣ה חִכִּ֑י וְתוֹעֲבַ֖ת שְׂפָתַ֣י רֶֽשַׁע׃

KJV 8 All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them.

WLC 8 בְּצֶ֥דֶק כָּל־ אִמְרֵי־ פִ֑י אֵ֥ין בָּ֝הֶ֗ם נִפְתָּ֥ל וְעִקֵּֽשׁ׃

KJV 9 They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge.

WLC 9 כֻּלָּ֣ם נְ֭כֹחִים לַמֵּבִ֑ין וִֽ֝ישָׁרִ֗ים לְמֹ֣צְאֵי דָֽעַת׃

KJV 10 Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold.

WLC 10 קְחֽוּ־ מוּסָרִ֥י וְאַל־ כָּ֑סֶף וְ֝דַ֗עַת מֵחָר֥וּץ נִבְחָֽר׃

KJV 11 For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.

WLC 11 כִּֽי־ טוֹבָ֣ה חָ֭כְמָה מִפְּנִינִ֑ים וְכָל־ חֲ֝פָצִ֗ים לֹ֣א יִֽשְׁווּ־ בָֽהּ׃

KJV 12 I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions.

WLC 12 אֲ‍ֽנִי־ חָ֭כְמָה שָׁכַ֣נְתִּי עָרְמָ֑ה וְדַ֖עַת מְזִמּ֣וֹת אֶמְצָֽא׃

KJV 13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.

WLC 13 יִֽרְאַ֣ת יְהוָה֮ שְֽׂנֹ֫את רָ֥ע גֵּ֘אָ֤ה וְגָא֨וֹן ׀ וְדֶ֣רֶךְ רָ֭ע וּפִ֨י תַהְפֻּכ֬וֹת שָׂנֵֽאתִי׃

KJV 14 Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength.

WLC 14 לִֽי־ עֵ֭צָה וְתוּשִׁיָּ֑ה אֲנִ֥י בִ֝ינָ֗ה לִ֣י גְבוּרָֽה׃

KJV 15 By me kings reign, and princes decree justice.

WLC 15 בִּ֭י מְלָכִ֣ים יִמְלֹ֑כוּ וְ֝רוֹזְנִ֗ים יְחֹ֣קְקוּ צֶֽדֶק׃

KJV 16 By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth.

WLC 16 בִּ֭י שָׂרִ֣ים יָשֹׂ֑רוּ וּ֝נְדִיבִ֗ים כָּל־ שֹׁ֥פְטֵי צֶֽדֶק׃

KJV 17 I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.

WLC 17 אֲ֭נִי אֵהָ֑ב וּ֝מְשַׁחֲרַ֗י יִמְצָאֻֽנְנִי׃

KJV 18 Riches and honour are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness.

WLC 18 עֹֽשֶׁר־ וְכָב֥וֹד אִתִּ֑י ה֥וֹן עָ֝תֵ֗ק וּצְדָקָֽה׃

KJV 19 My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver.

WLC 19 ט֣וֹב פִּ֭רְיִי מֵחָר֣וּץ וּמִפָּ֑ז וּ֝תְבוּאָתִ֗י מִכֶּ֥סֶף נִבְחָֽר׃

KJV 20 I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment:

WLC 20 בְּאֹֽרַח־ צְדָקָ֥ה אֲהַלֵּ֑ך בְּ֝ת֗וֹךְ נְתִיב֥וֹת מִשְׁפָּֽט׃

KJV 21 That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures.

WLC 21 לְהַנְחִ֖יל אֹהֲבַ֥י ׀ יֵ֑שׁ וְאֹצְרֹ֖תֵיהֶ֣ם אֲמַלֵּֽא׃

KJV 22 The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.

WLC 22 יְֽהוָ֗ה קָ֭נָנִי רֵאשִׁ֣ית דַּרְכּ֑וֹ קֶ֖דֶם מִפְעָלָ֣יו מֵאָֽז׃

KJV 23 I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.

WLC 23 מֵ֭עוֹלָם נִסַּ֥כְתִּי מֵרֹ֗אשׁ מִקַּדְמֵי־ אָֽרֶץ׃

KJV 24 When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water.

WLC 24 בְּאֵין־ תְּהֹמ֥וֹת חוֹלָ֑לְתִּי בְּאֵ֥ין מַ֝עְיָנ֗וֹת נִכְבַּדֵּי־ מָֽיִם׃

KJV 25 Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth:

WLC 25 בְּטֶ֣רֶם הָרִ֣ים הָטְבָּ֑עוּ לִפְנֵ֖י גְבָע֣וֹת חוֹלָֽלְתִּי׃

KJV 26 While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world.

WLC 26 עַד־ לֹ֣א עָ֭שָׂה אֶ֣רֶץ וְחוּצ֑וֹת וְ֝רֹ֗אשׁ עָפְר֥וֹת תֵּבֵֽל׃

KJV 27 When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth:

WLC 27 בַּהֲכִינ֣וֹ שָׁ֭מַיִם שָׁ֣ם אָ֑נִי בְּח֥וּקוֹ ח֝֗וּג עַל־ פְּנֵ֥י תְהֽוֹם׃

KJV 28 When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep:

WLC 28 בְּאַמְּצ֣וֹ שְׁחָקִ֣ים מִמָּ֑עַל בַּ֝עֲז֗וֹז עִינ֥וֹת תְּהוֹם׃

KJV 29 When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth:

WLC 29 בְּשׂ֘וּמ֤וֹ לַיָּ֨ם ׀ חֻקּ֗וֹ וּ֭מַיִם לֹ֣א יַֽעַבְרוּ־ פִ֑יו בְּ֝חוּק֗וֹ מ֣וֹסְדֵי אָֽרֶץ׃

KJV 30 Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him;

WLC 30 וָֽאֶהְיֶ֥ה אֶצְל֗וֹ אָ֫מ֥וֹן וָֽאֶהְיֶ֣ה שַׁ֭עֲשֻׁעִים י֤וֹם ׀ י֑וֹם מְשַׂחֶ֖קֶת לְפָנָ֣יו בְּכָל־ עֵֽת׃

KJV 31 Rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth; and my delights were with the sons of men.

WLC 31 מְ֭שַׂחֶקֶת בְּתֵבֵ֣ל אַרְצ֑וֹ וְ֝שַׁעֲשֻׁעַ֗י אֶת־ בְּנֵ֥י אָדָֽם׃

KJV 32 Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they that keep my ways.

WLC 32 וְעַתָּ֣ה בָ֭נִים שִׁמְעוּ־ לִ֑י וְ֝אַשְׁרֵ֗י דְּרָכַ֥י יִשְׁמֹֽרוּ׃

KJV 33 Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.

WLC 33 שִׁמְע֖וּ מוּסָ֥ר וַחֲכָ֗מוּ וְאַל־ תִּפְרָֽעוּ׃

KJV 34 Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.

WLC 34 אַ֥שְֽׁרֵי אָדָם֮ שֹׁמֵ֪עַֽ֫ לִ֥י לִשְׁקֹ֣ד עַל־ דַּ֭לְתֹתַי י֤וֹם ׀ י֑וֹם לִ֝שְׁמֹ֗ר מְזוּזֹ֥ת פְּתָחָֽי׃

KJV 35 For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD.

WLC 35 כִּ֣י מֹ֭צְאִי חַיִּ֑ים וַיָּ֥פֶק רָ֝צ֗וֹן מֵיְהוָֽה׃

KJV 36 But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.

WLC 36 וְֽ֭חֹטְאִי חֹמֵ֣ס נַפְשׁ֑וֹ כָּל־ מְ֝שַׂנְאַ֗י אָ֣הֲבוּ מָֽוֶת׃

KJV 1 Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:

WLC 1 חָ֭כְמוֹת בָּנְתָ֣ה בֵיתָ֑הּ חָצְבָ֖ה עַמּוּדֶ֣יהָ שִׁבְעָֽה׃

KJV 2 She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table.

WLC 2 טָבְחָ֣ה טִ֭בְחָהּ מָסְכָ֣ה יֵינָ֑הּ אַ֝֗ף עָֽרְכָ֥ה שֻׁלְחָנָֽהּ׃

KJV 3 She hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth upon the highest places of the city,

WLC 3 שָֽׁלְחָ֣ה נַעֲרֹתֶ֣יהָ תִקְרָ֑א עַל־ גַּ֝פֵּ֗י מְרֹ֣מֵי קָֽרֶת׃

KJV 4 Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,

WLC 4 מִי־ פֶ֭תִי יָסֻ֣ר הֵ֑נָּה חֲסַר־ לֵ֝֗ב אָ֣מְרָה לּֽוֹ׃

KJV 5 Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled.

WLC 5 לְ֭כוּ לַחֲמ֣וּ בְֽלַחֲמִ֑י וּ֝שְׁת֗וּ בְּיַ֣יִן מָסָֽכְתִּי׃

KJV 6 Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.

WLC 6 עִזְב֣וּ פְתָאיִ֣ם וִֽחְי֑וּ וְ֝אִשְׁר֗וּ בְּדֶ֣רֶךְ בִּינָֽה׃

KJV 7 He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot.

WLC 7 יֹ֤סֵ֨ר ׀ לֵ֗ץ לֹקֵ֣חַֽ ל֣וֹ קָל֑וֹן וּמוֹכִ֖יחַ לְרָשָׁ֣ע מוּמֽוֹ׃

KJV 8 Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.

WLC 8 אַל־ תּ֣וֹכַח לֵ֭ץ פֶּן־ יִשְׂנָאֶ֑ךָּ הוֹכַ֥ח לְ֝חָכָ֗ם וְיֶאֱהָבֶֽךָּ׃

KJV 9 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.

WLC 9 תֵּ֣ן לְ֭חָכָם וְיֶחְכַּם־ ע֑וֹד הוֹדַ֥ע לְ֝צַדִּ֗יק וְי֣וֹסֶף לֶֽקַח׃

KJV 10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

WLC 10 תְּחִלַּ֣ת חָ֭כְמָה יִרְאַ֣ת יְהוָ֑ה וְדַ֖עַת קְדֹשִׁ֣ים בִּינָֽה׃

KJV 11 For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased.

WLC 11 כִּי־ בִ֭י יִרְבּ֣וּ יָמֶ֑יךָ וְיוֹסִ֥יפוּ לְּ֝ךָ֗ שְׁנ֣וֹת חַיִּֽים׃

KJV 12 If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.

WLC 12 אִם־ חָ֭כַמְתָּ חָכַ֣מְתָּ לָּ֑ךְ וְ֝לַ֗צְתָּ לְֽבַדְּךָ֥ תִשָּֽׂא׃

KJV 13 A foolish woman is clamorous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing.

WLC 13 אֵ֣שֶׁת כְּ֭סִילוּת הֹֽמִיָּ֑ה פְּ֝תַיּ֗וּת וּבַל־ יָ֥דְעָה מָּֽה׃

KJV 14 For she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,

WLC 14 וְֽ֭יָשְׁבָה לְפֶ֣תַח בֵּיתָ֑הּ עַל־ כִּ֝סֵּ֗א מְרֹ֣מֵי קָֽרֶת׃

KJV 15 To call passengers who go right on their ways:

WLC 15 לִקְרֹ֥א לְעֹֽבְרֵי־ דָ֑רֶךְ הַֽ֝מְיַשְּׁרִ֗ים אֹֽרְחוֹתָֽם׃

KJV 16 Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: and as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,

WLC 16 מִי־ פֶ֭תִי יָסֻ֣ר הֵ֑נָּה וַחֲסַר־ לֵ֝֗ב וְאָ֣מְרָה לּֽוֹ׃

KJV 17 Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.

WLC 17 מַֽיִם־ גְּנוּבִ֥ים יִמְתָּ֑קוּ וְלֶ֖חֶם סְתָרִ֣ים יִנְעָֽם׃

KJV 18 But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell.

WLC 18 וְֽלֹא־ יָ֭דַע כִּֽי־ רְפָאִ֣ים שָׁ֑ם בְּעִמְקֵ֖י שְׁא֣וֹל קְרֻאֶֽיהָ׃
