² Or, à Jérusalem, près de la porte des Brebis, il y a une piscine qui s'appelle en hébreu Béthesda, et qui a cinq portiques.
³ Sous ces portiques étaient couchés un grand nombre de malades, d'aveugles, de boiteux et de paralytiques. Ils attendaient le bouillonnement de l'eau.
⁴ Car un ange du Seigneur descendait à certains temps dans la piscine, et agitait l'eau. Et celui qui y descendait le premier après l'agitation de l'eau, était guéri de son infirmité quelle qu'elle fut.
⁵ Là se trouvait un homme malade depuis trente huit ans.
⁶ Jésus l'ayant vu gisant et sachant qu'il était malade depuis longtemps, lui dit :
⁷ "Veux-tu être guéri ?" Le malade lui répondit : "Seigneur, je n'ai personne pour me jeter dans la piscine dès que l'eau est agitée, et pendant que j'y vais, un autre descend avant moi."
⁸ Jésus lui dit :"Lève-toi, prends ton grabat et marche."
⁹ Et à l'instant cet homme fut guéri ; il prit son grabat et se mit à marcher. C'était un jour de sabbat.

² Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.
³ In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.
⁴ For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.
⁵ And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.
⁶ When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?
⁷ The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.
⁸ Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.
⁹ And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.

² Or il y a à Jérusalem, au marché aux brebis, un lavoir appelé en Hébreu Béthesda ayant cinq portiques ;
³ Dans lesquels gisait un grand nombre de malades, d'aveugles, de boiteux, [et de gens] qui avaient les membres secs, attendant le mouvement de l'eau.
⁴ Car un Ange descendait en certains temps au lavoir, et troublait l'eau ; et alors le premier qui descendait au lavoir après que l'eau en avait été troublée, était guéri, de quelque maladie qu'il fût détenu.
⁵ Or il y avait là un homme malade depuis trente-huit ans.
⁶ [Et] Jésus le voyant couché par terre, et connaissant qu'il avait déjà été là longtemps, lui dit : veux-tu être guéri ?
⁷ Le malade lui répondit : Seigneur, je n'ai personne qui me jette au lavoir quand l'eau est troublée, et pendant que j'y viens, un autre y descend avant moi.
⁸ Jésus lui dit : lève-toi, charge ton petit lit, et marche.
⁹ Et sur-le-champ l'homme fut guéri, et chargea son petit lit, et il marchait. Or c'était [un jour] de Sabbat.
