BCC ² Et David dit à Joab et aux chefs du peuple : « Allez, comptez Israël depuis Bersabée jusqu'à Dan, et faites-moi un rapport, afin que je sache leur nombre. »

KJV ² And David said to Joab and to the rulers of the people, Go, number Israel from Beersheba even to Dan; and bring the number of them to me, that I may know it.

LSG ² Et David dit à Joab et aux chefs du peuple: Allez, faites le dénombrement d'Israël, depuis Beer Schéba jusqu'à Dan, et rapportez-le-moi, afin que je sache à combien il s'élève.

WLC ² וַיֹּ֨אמֶר דָּוִ֤יד אֶל־ יוֹאָב֙ וְאֶל־ שָׂרֵ֣י הָעָ֔ם לְכ֗וּ סִפְרוּ֙ אֶת־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל מִבְּאֵ֥ר שֶׁ֖בַע וְעַד־ דָּ֑ן וְהָבִ֣יאוּ אֵלַ֔י וְאֵדְעָ֖ה אֶת־ מִסְפָּרָֽם׃

BCC ³ Joab répondit : « Que Yahweh ajoute à son peuple cent fois ce qu'il y en a ! O roi, monseigneur, ne sont-ils pas tous esclaves de mon seigneur ? Pourquoi donc mon seigneur demande-t-il cela ? Pourquoi faire venir le péché sur Israël ? »

KJV ³ And Joab answered, The LORD make his people an hundred times so many more as they be: but, my lord the king, are they not all my lord's servants? why then doth my lord require this thing? why will he be a cause of trespass to Israel?

LSG ³ Joab répondit: Que l'Éternel rende son peuple cent fois plus nombreux ! O roi mon seigneur, ne sont-ils pas tous serviteurs de mon seigneur ? Mais pourquoi mon seigneur demande-t-il cela ? Pourquoi faire ainsi pécher Israël ?

WLC ³ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר יוֹאָ֗ב יוֹסֵף֩ יְהוָ֨ה עַל־ עַמּ֤וֹ ׀ כָּהֵם֙ מֵאָ֣ה פְעָמִ֔ים הֲלֹא֙ אֲדֹנִ֣י הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ כֻּלָּ֥ם לַאדֹנִ֖י לַעֲבָדִ֑ים לָ֣מָּה יְבַקֵּ֥שׁ זֹאת֙ אֲדֹנִ֔י לָ֛מָּה יִהְיֶ֥ה לְאַשְׁמָ֖ה לְיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

BCC ⁴ Mais la parole du roi prévalut contre Joab. Joab partit et parcourut tout Israël, et il revint à Jérusalem.

KJV ⁴ Nevertheless the king's word prevailed against Joab. Wherefore Joab departed, and went throughout all Israel, and came to Jerusalem.

LSG ⁴ Le roi persista dans l'ordre qu'il donnait à Joab. Et Joab partit, et parcourut tout Israël ; puis il revint à Jérusalem.

BCC ⁵ Et Joab remit à David le rôle du dénombrement du peuple : il y avait dans tout Israël onze cent mille hommes tirant l'épée, et en Juda quatre cent soixante-dix mille hommes tirant l'épée.

KJV ⁵ And Joab gave the sum of the number of the people unto David. And all they of Israel were a thousand thousand and an hundred thousand men that drew sword: and Judah was four hundred threescore and ten thousand men that drew sword.
