BAN ⁹ Et après qu'on eut mangé et bu à Silo, elle se leva ; et Eli, le sacrificateur, était assis sur un siège auprès de la porte du temple de l'Eternel.

KJV ⁹ So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk. Now Eli the priest sat upon a seat by a post of the temple of the LORD.

VULC ⁹ Surrexit autem Anna postquam comederat et biberat in Silo. Et Heli sacerdote sedente super sellam ante postes templi Domini,

BAN ¹⁰ Et elle avait l'amertume dans l'âme et elle pria l'Eternel et pleura beaucoup ;

KJV ¹⁰ And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the LORD, and wept sore.

VULC ¹⁰ cum esset Anna amaro animo, oravit ad Dominum, flens largiter,

BAN ¹¹ et elle fit un voeu et dit : Eternel des armées, si tu prends garde à l'affliction de ta servante et si tu te souviens de moi, si tu n'oublies point ta servante et si tu donnes un enfant mâle à ta servante, je le donnerai à l'Eternel pour tous les jours de sa vie et le rasoir ne passera pas sur sa tête.

KJV ¹¹ And she vowed a vow, and said, O LORD of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the LORD all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.

VULC ¹¹ et votum vovit, dicens : Domine exercituum, si respiciens videris afflictionem famulæ tuæ, et recordatus mei fueris, nec oblitus ancillæ tuæ, dederisque servæ tuæ sexum virilem : dabo eum Domino omnibus diebus vitæ ejus, et novacula non ascendet super caput ejus.

BAN ¹² Et comme elle prolongeait sa prière devant l'Eternel, Eli observa sa bouche.

KJV ¹² And it came to pass, as she continued praying before the LORD, that Eli marked her mouth.

VULC ¹² Factum est autem, cum illa multiplicaret preces coram Domino, ut Heli observaret os ejus.

BAN ¹³ Et Anne parlait en son coeur, remuant seulement ses lèvres, et sa voix ne se faisait point entendre. Et Eli crut qu'elle était ivre.

KJV ¹³ Now Hannah, she spake in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard: therefore Eli thought she had been drunken.

VULC ¹³ Porro Anna loquebatur in corde suo, tantumque labia illius movebantur, et vox penitus non audiebatur. Æstimavit ergo eam Heli temulentam,

BAN ¹⁴ Et Eli lui dit : Jusqu'à quand seras-tu ivre ? Va dissiper ton ivresse !

KJV ¹⁴ And Eli said unto her, How long wilt thou be drunken? put away thy wine from thee.

VULC ¹⁴ dixitque ei : Usquequo ebria eris ? digere paulisper vinum, quo mades.

BAN ¹⁵ Et Anne répondit et dit : Non, mon seigneur ! Je suis une femme affligée en son esprit ; je n'ai bu ni vin ni cervoise, mais j'épanchais mon coeur devant l'Eternel.

KJV ¹⁵ And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before the LORD.

VULC ¹⁵ Respondens Anna : Nequaquam, inquit, domine mi : nam mulier infelix nimis ego sum : vinumque et omne quod inebriare potest, non bibi, sed effudi animam meam in conspectu Domini.

BAN ¹⁶ Ne prends pas ta servante pour une femme de rien, car c'est dans l'excès de ma douleur et de mon affliction que j'ai parlé jusqu'ici.

KJV ¹⁶ Count not thine handmaid for a daughter of Belial: for out of the abundance of my complaint and grief have I spoken hitherto.

VULC ¹⁶ Ne reputes ancillam tuam quasi unam de filiabus Belial : quia ex multitudine doloris et mœroris mei locuta sum usque in præsens.

BAN ¹⁷ Et Eli répondit et dit : Va en paix, et que le Dieu d'Israël t'accorde la demande que tu lui as faite !

KJV ¹⁷ Then Eli answered and said, Go in peace: and the God of Israel grant thee thy petition that thou hast asked of him.

VULC ¹⁷ Tunc Heli ait ei : Vade in pace : et Deus Israël det tibi petitionem tuam quam rogasti eum.

BAN ¹⁸ Et elle dit : Que ta servante trouve grâce à tes yeux ! Et cette femme alla son chemin et mangea, et son visage n'était plus le même.

KJV ¹⁸ And she said, Let thine handmaid find grace in thy sight. So the woman went her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more sad.

VULC ¹⁸ Et illa dixit : Utinam inveniat ancilla tua gratiam in oculis tuis. Et abiit mulier in viam suam, et comedit, vultusque illius non sunt amplius in diversa mutati.
