BAN ¹⁴ Et l'Esprit de l'Eternel se retira d'avec Saül, et un mauvais esprit venu de l'Eternel le troublait.

KJV ¹⁴ But the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD troubled him.

WLC ¹⁴ וְר֧וּחַ יְהוָ֛ה סָ֖רָה מֵעִ֣ם שָׁא֑וּל וּבִֽעֲתַ֥תּוּ רֽוּחַ־ רָעָ֖ה מֵאֵ֥ת יְהוָֽה׃

BAN ¹⁵ Et les serviteurs de Saül lui dirent : Voici, un mauvais esprit de Dieu te trouble.

KJV ¹⁵ And Saul's servants said unto him, Behold now, an evil spirit from God troubleth thee.

WLC ¹⁵ וַיֹּאמְר֥וּ עַבְדֵֽי־ שָׁא֖וּל אֵלָ֑יו הִנֵּה־ נָ֧א רֽוּחַ־ אֱלֹהִ֛ים רָעָ֖ה מְבַעִתֶּֽךָ׃

BAN ¹⁶ Que notre Seigneur parle ! Tes serviteurs sont devant toi ; ils chercheront quelqu'un qui sache jouer de la harpe ; et quand le mauvais esprit de Dieu sera sur toi, il jouera de sa main, et cela te fera du bien.

KJV ¹⁶ Let our lord now command thy servants, which are before thee, to seek out a man, who is a cunning player on an harp: and it shall come to pass, when the evil spirit from God is upon thee, that he shall play with his hand, and thou shalt be well.

WLC ¹⁶ יֹאמַר־ נָ֤א אֲדֹנֵ֙נוּ֙ עֲבָדֶ֣יךָ לְפָנֶ֔יךָ יְבַקְשׁ֕וּ אִ֕ישׁ יֹדֵ֖עַ מְנַגֵּ֣ן בַּכִּנּ֑וֹר וְהָיָ֗ה בִּֽהְי֨וֹת עָלֶ֤יךָ רֽוּחַ־ אֱלֹהִים֙ רָעָ֔ה וְנִגֵּ֥ן בְּיָד֖וֹ וְט֥וֹב לָֽךְ׃

BAN ¹⁷ Et Saül dit à ses serviteurs : Cherchez-moi donc un homme qui soit bon musicien et amenez-le moi.

KJV ¹⁷ And Saul said unto his servants, Provide me now a man that can play well, and bring him to me.

WLC ¹⁷ וַיֹּ֥אמֶר שָׁא֖וּל אֶל־ עֲבָדָ֑יו רְאוּ־ נָ֣א לִ֗י אִ֚ישׁ מֵיטִ֣יב לְנַגֵּ֔ן וַהֲבִיאוֹתֶ֖ם אֵלָֽי׃

BAN ¹⁸ Et l'un des serviteurs répondit : Voici, j'ai vu un fils d'Isaï, Bethléémite, qui sait jouer ; c'est un homme vaillant, un guerrier, parlant bien, un bel homme, et l'Eternel est avec lui.

KJV ¹⁸ Then answered one of the servants, and said, Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, that is cunning in playing, and a mighty valiant man, and a man of war, and prudent in matters, and a comely person, and the LORD is with him.

WLC ¹⁸ וַיַּעַן֩ אֶחָ֨ד מֵהַנְּעָרִ֜ים וַיֹּ֗אמֶר הִנֵּ֨ה רָאִ֜יתִי בֵּ֣ן לְיִשַׁי֮ בֵּ֣ית הַלַּחְמִי֒ יֹדֵ֣עַ נַ֠גֵּן וְגִבּ֨וֹר חַ֜יִל וְאִ֧ישׁ מִלְחָמָ֛ה וּנְב֥וֹן דָּבָ֖ר וְאִ֣ישׁ תֹּ֑אַר וַיהוָ֖ה עִמּֽוֹ׃

BAN ¹⁹ Et Saül envoya des messagers à Isaï, pour lui dire : Envoie-moi David, ton fils, qui est avec les brebis !

KJV ¹⁹ Wherefore Saul sent messengers unto Jesse, and said, Send me David thy son, which is with the sheep.

WLC ¹⁹ וַיִּשְׁלַ֥ח שָׁא֛וּל מַלְאָכִ֖ים אֶל־ יִשָׁ֑י וַיֹּ֕אמֶר שִׁלְחָ֥ה אֵלַ֛י אֶת־ דָּוִ֥ד בִּנְךָ֖ אֲשֶׁ֥ר בַּצֹּֽאן׃

BAN ²⁰ Et Isaï prit un âne chargé de pain, une outre de vin et un chevreau, et l'envoya à Saül par David, son fils.

KJV ²⁰ And Jesse took an ass laden with bread, and a bottle of wine, and a kid, and sent them by David his son unto Saul.

WLC ²⁰ וַיִּקַּ֨ח יִשַׁ֜י חֲמ֥וֹר לֶ֙חֶם֙ וְנֹ֣אד יַ֔יִן וּגְדִ֥י עִזִּ֖ים אֶחָ֑ד וַיִּשְׁלַ֛ח בְּיַד־ דָּוִ֥ד בְּנ֖וֹ אֶל־ שָׁאֽוּל׃

BAN ²¹ Et David arriva chez Saül et se présenta devant lui ; et Saül le prit en affection et il devint son écuyer.

KJV ²¹ And David came to Saul, and stood before him: and he loved him greatly; and he became his armourbearer.

WLC ²¹ וַיָּבֹ֤א דָוִד֙ אֶל־ שָׁא֔וּל וַֽיַּעֲמֹ֖ד לְפָנָ֑יו וַיֶּאֱהָבֵ֣הֽוּ מְאֹ֔ד וַֽיְהִי־ ל֖וֹ נֹשֵׂ֥א כֵלִֽים׃

BAN ²² Et Saül fit dire à Isaï : Laisse David à mon service, car il a trouvé grâce à mes yeux !

KJV ²² And Saul sent to Jesse, saying, Let David, I pray thee, stand before me; for he hath found favour in my sight.

WLC ²² וַיִּשְׁלַ֣ח שָׁא֔וּל אֶל־ יִשַׁ֖י לֵאמֹ֑ר יַעֲמָד־ נָ֤א דָוִד֙ לְפָנַ֔י כִּֽי־ מָ֥צָא חֵ֖ן בְּעֵינָֽי׃

BAN ²³ Et quand un esprit [venu] de Dieu était sur Saül, David prenait sa harpe et jouait, et Saül se calmait et se trouvait bien et le mauvais esprit se retirait de lui.

KJV ²³ And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took an harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him.

WLC ²³ וְהָיָ֗ה בִּֽהְי֤וֹת רֽוּחַ־ אֱלֹהִים֙ אֶל־ שָׁא֔וּל וְלָקַ֥ח דָּוִ֛ד אֶת־ הַכִּנּ֖וֹר וְנִגֵּ֣ן בְּיָד֑וֹ וְרָוַ֤ח לְשָׁאוּל֙ וְט֣וֹב ל֔וֹ וְסָ֥רָה מֵעָלָ֖יו ר֥וּחַ הָרָעָֽה׃
