KJV ¹ And the child Samuel ministered unto the LORD before Eli. And the word of the LORD was precious in those days; there was no open vision.

NEG ¹ Le jeune Samuel était au service de l'Eternel devant Eli. La parole de l'Eternel était rare en ce temps-là, les visions n'étaient pas fréquentes.

VULC ¹ Puer autem Samuel ministrabat Domino coram Heli, et sermo Domini erat pretiosus in diebus illis : non erat visio manifesta.

WLC ¹ וְהַנַּ֧עַר שְׁמוּאֵ֛ל מְשָׁרֵ֥ת אֶת־ יְהוָ֖ה לִפְנֵ֣י עֵלִ֑י וּדְבַר־ יְהוָ֗ה הָיָ֤ה יָקָר֙ בַּיָּמִ֣ים הָהֵ֔ם אֵ֥ין חָז֖וֹן נִפְרָֽץ׃

KJV ² And it came to pass at that time, when Eli was laid down in his place, and his eyes began to wax dim, that he could not see;

NEG ² En ce même temps, Eli qui commençait à avoir les yeux troubles et ne pouvait plus voir, était couché à sa place.

VULC ² Factum est ergo in die quadam, Heli jacebat in loco suo, et oculi ejus caligaverant, nec poterat videre :

WLC ² וַֽיְהִי֙ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֔וּא וְעֵלִ֖י שֹׁכֵ֣ב בִּמְקֹמ֑וֹ הֵחֵ֣לּוּ כֵה֔וֹת לֹ֥א יוּכַ֖ל לִרְאֽוֹת׃

KJV ³ And ere the lamp of God went out in the temple of the LORD, where the ark of God was, and Samuel was laid down to sleep;

NEG ³ La lampe de Dieu n'était pas encore éteinte, et Samuel était couché dans le temple de l'Eternel, où était l'arche de Dieu.

VULC ³ lucerna Dei antequam extingueretur, Samuel dormiebat in templo Domini, ubi erat arca Dei.

WLC ³ וְנֵ֤ר אֱלֹהִים֙ טֶ֣רֶם יִכְבֶּ֔ה וּשְׁמוּאֵ֖ל שֹׁכֵ֑ב בְּהֵיכַ֣ל יְהוָ֔ה אֲשֶׁר־ שָׁ֖ם אֲר֥וֹן אֱלֹהִֽים׃

KJV ⁴ That the LORD called Samuel: and he answered, Here am I.

NEG ⁴ Alors l'Eternel appela Samuel. Il répondit: Me voici!

VULC ⁴ Et vocavit Dominus Samuel. Qui respondens, ait : Ecce ego.

WLC ⁴ וַיִּקְרָ֧א יְהוָ֛ה אֶל־ שְׁמוּאֵ֖ל וַיֹּ֥אמֶר הִנֵּֽנִי׃

KJV ⁵ And he ran unto Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou calledst me. And he said, I called not; lie down again. And he went and lay down.

NEG ⁵ Et il courut vers Eli, et dit: Me voici, car tu m'as appelé. Eli répondit: Je n'ai point appelé; retourne te coucher. Et il alla se coucher.

VULC ⁵ Et cucurrit ad Heli, et dixit : Ecce ego : vocasti enim me. Qui dixit : Non vocavi : revertere, et dormi. Et abiit, et dormivit.

WLC ⁵ וַיָּ֣רָץ אֶל־ עֵלִ֗י וַיֹּ֤אמֶר הִנְנִי֙ כִּֽי־ קָרָ֣אתָ לִּ֔י וַיֹּ֥אמֶר לֹֽא־ קָרָ֖אתִי שׁ֣וּב שְׁכָ֑ב וַיֵּ֖לֶךְ וַיִּשְׁכָּֽב׃

KJV ⁶ And the LORD called yet again, Samuel. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And he answered, I called not, my son; lie down again.

NEG ⁶ L'Eternel appela de nouveau Samuel. Et Samuel se leva, alla vers Eli, et dit: Me voici, car tu m'as appelé. Eli répondit: Je n'ai point appelé, mon fils, retourne te coucher.

VULC ⁶ Et adjecit Dominus rursum vocare Samuelem. Consurgensque Samuel, abiit ad Heli, et dixit : Ecce ego, quia vocasti me. Qui respondit : Non vocavi te, fili mi : revertere et dormi.

WLC ⁶ וַיֹּ֣סֶף יְהוָ֗ה קְרֹ֣א עוֹד֮ שְׁמוּאֵל֒ וַיָּ֤קָם שְׁמוּאֵל֙ וַיֵּ֣לֶךְ אֶל־ עֵלִ֔י וַיֹּ֣אמֶר הִנְנִ֔י כִּ֥י קָרָ֖אתָ לִ֑י וַיֹּ֛אמֶר לֹֽא־ קָרָ֥אתִי בְנִ֖י שׁ֥וּב שְׁכָֽב׃

KJV ⁷ Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD, neither was the word of the LORD yet revealed unto him.

NEG ⁷ Samuel ne connaissait pas encore l'Eternel, et la parole de l'Eternel ne lui avait pas encore été révélée.

VULC ⁷ Porro Samuel necdum sciebat Dominum, neque revelatus fuerat ei sermo Domini.

WLC ⁷ וּשְׁמוּאֵ֕ל טֶ֖רֶם יָדַ֣ע אֶת־ יְהוָ֑ה וְטֶ֛רֶם יִגָּלֶ֥ה אֵלָ֖יו דְּבַר־ יְהוָֽה׃

KJV ⁸ And the LORD called Samuel again the third time. And he arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And Eli perceived that the LORD had called the child.

NEG ⁸ L'Eternel appela de nouveau Samuel, pour la troisième fois. Et Samuel se leva, alla vers Eli, et dit: Me voici, car tu m'as appelé. Eli comprit que c'était l'Eternel qui appelait l'enfant,

VULC ⁸ Et adjecit Dominus, et vocavit adhuc Samuelem tertio. Qui consurgens abiit ad Heli,

WLC ⁸ וַיֹּ֨סֶף יְהוָ֥ה קְרֹא־ שְׁמוּאֵל֮ בַּשְּׁלִשִׁית֒ וַיָּ֙קָם֙ וַיֵּ֣לֶךְ אֶל־ עֵלִ֔י וַיֹּ֣אמֶר הִנְנִ֔י כִּ֥י קָרָ֖אתָ לִ֑י וַיָּ֣בֶן עֵלִ֔י כִּ֥י יְהוָ֖ה קֹרֵ֥א לַנָּֽעַר׃

KJV ⁹ Therefore Eli said unto Samuel, Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he call thee, that thou shalt say, Speak, LORD; for thy servant heareth. So Samuel went and lay down in his place.

NEG ⁹ et il dit à Samuel: Va, couche-toi; et si l'on t'appelle, tu diras: Parle, Eternel, car ton serviteur écoute. Et Samuel alla se coucher à sa place.

VULC ⁹ et ait : Ecce ego, quia vocasti me. Intellexit ergo Heli quia Dominus vocaret puerum : et ait ad Samuelem : Vade, et dormi : et si deinceps vocaverit te, dices : Loquere, Domine, quia audit servus tuus. Abiit ergo Samuel, et dormivit in loco suo.

WLC ⁹ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר עֵלִ֣י לִשְׁמוּאֵל֮ לֵ֣ךְ שְׁכָב֒ וְהָיָה֙ אִם־ יִקְרָ֣א אֵלֶ֔יךָ וְאָֽמַרְתָּ֙ דַּבֵּ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה כִּ֥י שֹׁמֵ֖עַ עַבְדֶּ֑ךָ וַיֵּ֣לֶךְ שְׁמוּאֵ֔ל וַיִּשְׁכַּ֖ב בִּמְקוֹמֽוֹ׃

KJV ¹⁰ And the LORD came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth.

NEG ¹⁰ L'Eternel vint et se présenta, et il appela comme les autres fois: Samuel, Samuel! Et Samuel répondit: Parle, car ton serviteur écoute.

VULC ¹⁰ Et venit Dominus, et stetit : et vocavit, sicut vocaverat secundo : Samuel, Samuel. Et ait Samuel : Loquere, Domine, quia audit servus tuus.

WLC ¹⁰ וַיָּבֹ֤א יְהוָה֙ וַיִּתְיַצַּ֔ב וַיִּקְרָ֥א כְפַֽעַם־ בְּפַ֖עַם שְׁמוּאֵ֣ל ׀ שְׁמוּאֵ֑ל וַיֹּ֤אמֶר שְׁמוּאֵל֙ דַּבֵּ֔ר כִּ֥י שֹׁמֵ֖עַ עַבְדֶּֽךָ׃
