BAN ¹⁸ Et il y avait là les trois fils de Tséruja, Joab, Abisaï et Asaël. Et Asaël avait les pieds légers comme une gazelle dans les champs.

KJV ¹⁸ And there were three sons of Zeruiah there, Joab, and Abishai, and Asahel: and Asahel was as light of foot as a wild roe.

LSG ¹⁸ Là se trouvaient les trois fils de Tseruja: Joab, Abischaï et Asaël. Asaël avait les pieds légers comme une gazelle des champs:

VULC ¹⁸ Erant autem ibi tres filii Sarviæ, Joab, et Abisai, et Asaël : porro Asaël cursor velocissimus fuit, quasi unus de capreis quæ morantur in silvis.

WLC ¹⁸ וַיִּֽהְיוּ־ שָׁ֗ם שְׁלֹשָׁה֙ בְּנֵ֣י צְרוּיָ֔ה יוֹאָ֥ב וַאֲבִישַׁ֖י וַעֲשָׂהאֵ֑ל וַעֲשָׂהאֵל֙ קַ֣ל בְּרַגְלָ֔יו כְּאַחַ֥ד הַצְּבָיִ֖ם אֲשֶׁ֥ר בַּשָּׂדֶֽה׃

BAN ¹⁹ Et Asaël poursuivit Abner, sans se détourner de lui ni à droite ni à gauche.

KJV ¹⁹ And Asahel pursued after Abner; and in going he turned not to the right hand nor to the left from following Abner.

LSG ¹⁹ il poursuivit Abner, sans se détourner de lui pour aller à droite ou à gauche.

VULC ¹⁹ Persequebatur autem Asaël Abner, et non declinavit ad dextram neque ad sinistram omittens persequi Abner.

WLC ¹⁹ וַיִּרְדֹּ֥ף עֲשָׂהאֵ֖ל אַחֲרֵ֣י אַבְנֵ֑ר וְלֹֽא־ נָטָ֣ה לָלֶ֗כֶת עַל־ הַיָּמִין֙ וְעַֽל־ הַשְּׂמֹ֔אול מֵאַחֲרֵ֖י אַבְנֵֽר׃

BAN ²⁰ Et Abner se tourna et dit : Est-ce toi, Asaël ? Et il dit : C'est moi.

KJV ²⁰ Then Abner looked behind him, and said, Art thou Asahel? And he answered, I am.

LSG ²⁰ Abner regarda derrière lui, et dit: Est-ce toi, Asaël ? Et il répondit: C'est moi.

VULC ²⁰ Respexit itaque Abner post tergum suum, et ait : Tune es Asaël ? Qui respondit : Ego sum.

WLC ²⁰ וַיִּ֤פֶן אַבְנֵר֙ אַֽחֲרָ֔יו וַיֹּ֕אמֶר הַאַתָּ֥ה זֶ֖ה עֲשָׂהאֵ֑ל וַיֹּ֖אמֶר אָנֹֽכִי׃

BAN ²¹ Et Abner lui dit : Passe à droite ou à gauche, saisis-toi de l'un de ces jeunes gens et prends sa dépouille ! Et Asaël ne voulut pas se détourner de lui.

KJV ²¹ And Abner said to him, Turn thee aside to thy right hand or to thy left, and lay thee hold on one of the young men, and take thee his armour. But Asahel would not turn aside from following of him.

LSG ²¹ Abner lui dit: Tire à droite ou à gauche ; saisis-toi de l'un de ces jeunes gens, et prends sa dépouille. Mais Asaël ne voulut point se détourner de lui.

VULC ²¹ Dixitque ei Abner : Vade ad dextram, sive ad sinistram, et apprehende unum de adolescentibus, et tolle tibi spolia ejus. Noluit autem Asaël omittere quin urgeret eum.

WLC ²¹ וַיֹּ֧אמֶר ל֣וֹ אַבְנֵ֗ר נְטֵ֤ה לְךָ֙ עַל־ יְמִֽינְךָ֙ א֣וֹ עַל־ שְׂמֹאלֶ֔ךָ וֶאֱחֹ֣ז לְךָ֗ אֶחָד֙ מֵֽהַנְּעָרִ֔ים וְקַח־ לְךָ֖ אֶת־ חֲלִצָת֑וֹ וְלֹֽא־ אָבָ֣ה עֲשָׂהאֵ֔ל לָס֖וּר מֵאַחֲרָֽיו׃

BAN ²² Et Abner dit encore à Asaël : Détourne-toi de moi. Pourquoi t'abattrais-je ? Comment pourrais-je regarder Joab ton frère ?

KJV ²² And Abner said again to Asahel, Turn thee aside from following me: wherefore should I smite thee to the ground? how then should I hold up my face to Joab thy brother?

LSG ²² Abner dit encore à Asaël: Détourne-toi de moi ; pourquoi te frapperais-je et t'abattrais-je en terre ? comment ensuite lèverais-je le visage devant ton frère Joab ?

VULC ²² Rursumque locutus est Abner ad Asaël : Recede, noli me sequi, ne compellar confodere te in terram, et levare non potero faciem meam ad Joab fratrem tuum.

WLC ²² וַיֹּ֧סֶף ע֣וֹד אַבְנֵ֗ר לֵאמֹר֙ אֶל־ עֲשָׂהאֵ֔ל ס֥וּר לְךָ֖ מֵאַֽחֲרָ֑י לָ֤מָּה אַכֶּ֙כָּה֙ אַ֔רְצָה וְאֵיךְ֙ אֶשָּׂ֣א פָנַ֔י אֶל־ יוֹאָ֖ב אָחִֽיךָ׃

BAN ²³ Et il refusa de se retirer. Et Abner le frappa dans le ventre avec le bout de la hampe de sa lance, et la lance sortit par derrière. Et il tomba là et mourut sur place. Et tous ceux qui arrivaient au lieu où Asaël était tombé mort, s'y arrêtaient.

KJV ²³ Howbeit he refused to turn aside: wherefore Abner with the hinder end of the spear smote him under the fifth rib, that the spear came out behind him; and he fell down there, and died in the same place: and it came to pass, that as many as came to the place where Asahel fell down and died stood still.

LSG ²³ Et Asaël refusa de se détourner. Sur quoi Abner le frappa au ventre avec l'extrémité inférieure de sa lance, et la lance sortit par derrière. Il tomba et mourut sur place. Tous ceux qui arrivaient au lieu où Asaël était tombé mort, s'y arrêtaient.

VULC ²³ Qui audire contempsit, et noluit declinare : percussit ergo eum Abner aversa hasta in inguine, et transfodit, et mortuus est in eodem loco : omnesque qui transibant per locum illum, in quo ceciderat Asaël et mortuus erat, subsistebant.

WLC ²³ וַיְמָאֵ֣ן לָס֗וּר וַיַּכֵּ֣הוּ אַבְנֵר֩ בְּאַחֲרֵ֨י הַחֲנִ֜ית אֶל־ הַחֹ֗מֶשׁ וַתֵּצֵ֤א הַֽחֲנִית֙ מֵאַחֲרָ֔יו וַיִּפָּל־ שָׁ֖ם וַיָּ֣מָת וַיְהִ֡י כָּל־ הַבָּ֣א אֶֽל־ הַמָּקוֹם֩ אֲשֶׁר־ נָ֨פַל שָׁ֧ם עֲשָׂהאֵ֛ל וַיָּמֹ֖ת וַֽיַּעֲמֹֽדוּ׃

BAN ²⁴ Et Joab et Abisaï poursuivirent Abner, et le soleil se couchait quand ils arrivèrent à Guibéath-Amma, qui est en face de Guiah, du côté du désert de Gabaon.

KJV ²⁴ Joab also and Abishai pursued after Abner: and the sun went down when they were come to the hill of Ammah, that lieth before Giah by the way of the wilderness of Gibeon.

LSG ²⁴ Joab et Abischaï poursuivirent Abner, et le soleil se couchait quand ils arrivèrent au coteau d'Amma, qui est en face de Guiach, sur le chemin du désert de Gabaon.

VULC ²⁴ Persequentibus autem Joab et Abisai fugientem Abner, sol occubuit : et venerunt usque ad collem aquæductus, qui est ex adverso vallis itineris deserti in Gabaon.

WLC ²⁴ וַֽיִּרְדְּפ֛וּ יוֹאָ֥ב וַאֲבִישַׁ֖י אַחֲרֵ֣י אַבְנֵ֑ר וְהַשֶּׁ֣מֶשׁ בָּ֔אָה וְהֵ֗מָּה בָּ֚אוּ עַד־ גִּבְעַ֣ת אַמָּ֔ה אֲשֶׁר֙ עַל־ פְּנֵי־ גִ֔יחַ דֶּ֖רֶךְ מִדְבַּ֥ר גִּבְעֽוֹן׃
