KJV ¹³ And I gave my heart to seek and search out by wisdom concerning all things that are done under heaven: this sore travail hath God given to the sons of man to be exercised therewith.

LSG ¹³ J'ai appliqué mon coeur à rechercher et à sonder par la sagesse tout ce qui se fait sous les cieux: c'est là une occupation pénible, à laquelle Dieu soumet les fils de l'homme.

KJV ¹⁴ I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit.

LSG ¹⁴ J'ai vu tout ce qui se fait sous le soleil ; et voici, tout est vanité et poursuite du vent.

WLC ¹⁴ רָאִ֙יתִי֙ אֶת־ כָּל־ הַֽמַּעֲשִׂ֔ים שֶֽׁנַּעֲשׂ֖וּ תַּ֣חַת הַשָּׁ֑מֶשׁ וְהִנֵּ֥ה הַכֹּ֛ל הֶ֖בֶל וּרְע֥וּת רֽוּחַ׃

KJV ¹⁵ That which is crooked cannot be made straight: and that which is wanting cannot be numbered.

LSG ¹⁵ Ce qui est courbé ne peut se redresser, et ce qui manque ne peut être compté.

WLC ¹⁵ מְעֻוָּ֖ת לֹא־ יוּכַ֣ל לִתְקֹ֑ן וְחֶסְר֖וֹן לֹא־ יוּכַ֥ל לְהִמָּנֽוֹת׃

KJV ¹⁶ I communed with mine own heart, saying, Lo, I am come to great estate, and have gotten more wisdom than all they that have been before me in Jerusalem: yea, my heart had great experience of wisdom and knowledge.

LSG ¹⁶ J'ai dit en mon coeur: Voici, j'ai grandi et surpassé en sagesse tous ceux qui ont dominé avant moi sur Jérusalem, et mon coeur a vu beaucoup de sagesse et de science.

KJV ¹⁷ And I gave my heart to know wisdom, and to know madness and folly: I perceived that this also is vexation of spirit.

LSG ¹⁷ J'ai appliqué mon coeur à connaître la sagesse, et à connaître la sottise et la folie ; j'ai compris que cela aussi c'est la poursuite du vent.

WLC ¹⁷ וָאֶתְּנָ֤ה לִבִּי֙ לָדַ֣עַת חָכְמָ֔ה וְדַ֥עַת הוֹלֵל֖וֹת וְשִׂכְל֑וּת יָדַ֕עְתִּי שֶׁגַּם־ זֶ֥ה ה֖וּא רַעְי֥וֹן רֽוּחַ׃
