KJV ¹⁸ Yea, I hated all my labour which I had taken under the sun: because I should leave it unto the man that shall be after me.

S21 ¹⁸ J'ai détesté tout le travail que j'ai accompli sous le soleil et dont je dois laisser la jouissance à l'homme qui me succédera.

KJV ¹⁹ And who knoweth whether he shall be a wise man or a fool? yet shall he have rule over all my labour wherein I have laboured, and wherein I have shewed myself wise under the sun. This is also vanity.

S21 ¹⁹ Et qui sait s'il sera sage ou fou? Pourtant, il sera maître de tout mon travail, de tout le fruit de ma sagesse sous le soleil. Cela aussi, c'est de la fumée.

KJV ²⁰ Therefore I went about to cause my heart to despair of all the labour which I took under the sun.

S21 ²⁰ J'en suis venu à désespérer à cause de toute la peine que je me suis donnée sous le soleil.

KJV ²¹ For there is a man whose labour is in wisdom, and in knowledge, and in equity; yet to a man that hath not laboured therein shall he leave it for his portion. This also is vanity and a great evil.

S21 ²¹ En effet, un homme peut travailler avec sagesse, savoir-faire et succès, et il doit laisser le produit de son travail à un homme qui ne s'est donné aucune peine pour cela. Cela aussi, c'est de la fumée et c'est un grand malheur.

KJV ²² For what hath man of all his labour, and of the vexation of his heart, wherein he hath laboured under the sun?

S21 ²² Oui, que retire l'homme de tout son travail et des préoccupations de son cœur, alors qu'il se donne tant de peine pour cela sous le soleil?

KJV ²³ For all his days are sorrows, and his travail grief; yea, his heart taketh not rest in the night. This is also vanity.

S21 ²³ Ses journées ne sont toutes que souffrance et son activité n'est que chagrin. Même la nuit, son cœur ne connaît pas le repos. Cela aussi, c'est de la fumée.

KJV ²⁴ There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God.

S21 ²⁴ Le seul bonheur, pour l'homme, consiste à manger, à boire et à se donner du plaisir dans son travail, mais cela aussi, je l'ai bien vu moi-même, dépend de Dieu.

KJV ²⁵ For who can eat, or who else can hasten hereunto, more than I?

KJV ²⁶ For God giveth to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he giveth travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to him that is good before God. This also is vanity and vexation of spirit.

S21 ²⁶ Oui, à l'homme qui lui est agréable il donne la sagesse, la connaissance et la joie, mais au pécheur il réserve la tâche de récolter et d'amasser des biens afin de les donner à celui qui est agréable à Dieu. Cela aussi, c'est de la fumée et cela revient à poursuivre le vent.
