⁴¹ Ésaü conçut de la haine contre Jacob à cause de la bénédiction que son père lui avait donnée, et Ésaü dit en son coeur : « Les jours où je ferai le deuil de mon père approchent ; alors je tuerai Jacob, mon frère. » ⁴² On rapporta à Rebecca les paroles d'Ésaü, son fils aîné. Elle fit appeler Jacob, son fils cadet, et lui dit :

   ⁴¹ And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing wherewith his father blessed him: and Esau said in his heart, The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then will I slay my brother Jacob. ⁴² And these words of Esau her elder son were told to Rebekah: and she sent and called Jacob her younger son, and said unto him, Behold, thy brother Esau, as touching thee, doth comfort himself, purposing to kill thee.

Il disait dans son cœur: «Le moment où l'on mènera le deuil sur mon père va approcher et je tuerai mon frère Jacob.» ⁴² Rebecca fut informée des paroles de son fils aîné Esaü. Elle fit alors appeler son fils cadet Jacob et lui dit: «Ton frère Esaü veut se venger de toi en te tuant.
