KJV ¹ Thus saith the LORD unto me, Go and get thee a linen girdle, and put it upon thy loins, and put it not in water.

S21 ¹ Voici ce que m'a dit l'Eternel: «Va t'acheter une ceinture de lin et mets-la autour de ta taille, mais ne la trempe pas dans l'eau.»

KJV ² So I got a girdle according to the word of the LORD, and put it on my loins.

S21 ² J'ai acheté la ceinture, conformément à la parole de l'Eternel, et je l'ai mise autour de ma taille.

KJV ³ And the word of the LORD came unto me the second time, saying,

S21 ³ La parole de l'Eternel m'a été adressée une deuxième fois:

KJV ⁴ Take the girdle that thou hast got, which is upon thy loins, and arise, go to Euphrates, and hide it there in a hole of the rock.

S21 ⁴ «Prends la ceinture que tu as achetée, qui est autour de ta taille, puis lève-toi, va vers l'Euphrate et là-bas cache-la dans la fente d'un rocher.»

KJV ⁵ So I went, and hid it by Euphrates, as the LORD commanded me.

S21 ⁵ J'y suis allé et l'ai cachée près de l'Euphrate, comme l'Eternel me l'avait ordonné.

KJV ⁶ And it came to pass after many days, that the LORD said unto me, Arise, go to Euphrates, and take the girdle from thence, which I commanded thee to hide there.

S21 ⁶ Après bien des jours, l'Eternel m'a dit: «Lève-toi, va vers l'Euphrate et là-bas reprends la ceinture que je t'avais ordonné de cacher.»

KJV ⁷ Then I went to Euphrates, and digged, and took the girdle from the place where I had hid it: and, behold, the girdle was marred, it was profitable for nothing.

S21 ⁷ Je suis retourné vers l'Euphrate, j'ai fouillé et j'ai repris la ceinture à l'endroit où je l'avais cachée, mais voici que la ceinture était abîmée, elle n'était plus bonne à rien.

KJV ⁸ Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

S21 ⁸ Alors la parole de l'Eternel m'a été adressée:

KJV ⁹ Thus saith the LORD, After this manner will I mar the pride of Judah, and the great pride of Jerusalem.

S21 ⁹ «Voici ce que dit l'Eternel: C'est ainsi que je détruirai l'orgueil de Juda et l'orgueil immense de Jérusalem.

KJV ¹⁰ This evil people, which refuse to hear my words, which walk in the imagination of their heart, and walk after other gods, to serve them, and to worship them, shall even be as this girdle, which is good for nothing.

S21 ¹⁰ Ce méchant peuple refuse d'écouter mes paroles, il persévère dans les penchants de son cœur et suit d'autres dieux pour les servir et se prosterner devant eux. Il deviendra pareil à cette ceinture, qui n'est plus bonne à rien.

KJV ¹¹ For as the girdle cleaveth to the loins of a man, so have I caused to cleave unto me the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah, saith the LORD; that they might be unto me for a people, and for a name, and for a praise, and for a glory: but they would not hear.

S21 ¹¹ En effet, de même qu'une ceinture est attachée à la taille d'un homme, de même je m'étais attaché toute la communauté d'Israël et toute celle de Juda, déclare l'Eternel, afin qu'elles soient mon peuple, ma réputation, ma gloire et mon honneur, mais elles ne m'ont pas écouté.
