KJV ¹ Thus saith the LORD; Go down to the house of the king of Judah, and speak there this word,

S21 ¹ Voici ce qu'a dit l'Eternel: «Descends au palais du roi de Juda, et là tu prononceras cette parole:

VULC ¹ Hæc dicit Dominus : Descende in domum regis Juda, et loqueris ibi verbum hoc,

KJV ² And say, Hear the word of the LORD, O king of Judah, that sittest upon the throne of David, thou, and thy servants, and thy people that enter in by these gates:

S21 ² ‘Ecoute la parole de l'Eternel, roi de Juda, toi qui occupes le trône de David, ainsi que tes serviteurs et ton peuple qui entre par ces portes!

VULC ² et dices : [Audi verbum Domini, rex Juda,
qui sedes super solium David :
tu et servi tui, et populus tuus,
qui ingredimini per portas istas.

KJV ³ Thus saith the LORD; Execute ye judgment and righteousness, and deliver the spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor: and do no wrong, do no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, nor the widow, neither shed innocent blood in this place.

S21 ³ Voici ce que dit l'Eternel: Pratiquez le droit et la justice, délivrez celui qui est maltraité de son exploiteur, n'opprimez pas l'étranger, l'orphelin et la veuve, ne recourez pas à la violence et ne versez pas de sang innocent dans cet endroit!

VULC ³ Hæc dicit Dominus :
Facite judicium et justitiam,
et liberate vi oppressum de manu calumniatoris :
et advenam, et pupillum, et viduam
nolite contristare, neque opprimatis inique,
et sanguinem innocentem ne effundatis in loco isto.

KJV ⁴ For if ye do this thing indeed, then shall there enter in by the gates of this house kings sitting upon the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, he, and his servants, and his people.

S21 ⁴ En effet, si vous mettez fidèlement cette parole en pratique, les rois assis sur le trône de David continueront d'entrer par les portes de ce palais, montés sur des chars et sur des chevaux, eux, leurs serviteurs et leur peuple.

VULC ⁴ Si enim facientes feceritis verbum istud,
ingredientur per portas domus hujus
reges sedentes de genere David super thronum ejus,
et ascendentes currus et equos,
ipsi, et servi, et populus eorum.

KJV ⁵ But if ye will not hear these words, I swear by myself, saith the LORD, that this house shall become a desolation.

S21 ⁵ En revanche, si vous n'écoutez pas ces paroles, je le jure par moi-même, déclare l'Eternel, ce palais deviendra une ruine.'

VULC ⁵ Quod si non audieritis verba hæc :
in memetipso juravi, dicit Dominus,
quia in solitudinem erit domus hæc.

KJV ⁶ For thus saith the LORD unto the king's house of Judah; Thou art Gilead unto me, and the head of Lebanon: yet surely I will make thee a wilderness, and cities which are not inhabited.

S21 ⁶ »En effet, voici ce que dit l'Eternel au sujet du palais du roi de Juda:
Tu es pour moi pareil à Galaad,
aux sommets du Liban,
mais je ferai de toi un désert,
une ville inhabitée.

VULC ⁶ Quia hæc dicit Dominus super domum regis Juda :
Galaad, tu mihi caput Libani,
si non posuero te solitudinem, urbes inhabitabiles !

KJV ⁷ And I will prepare destroyers against thee, every one with his weapons: and they shall cut down thy choice cedars, and cast them into the fire.

S21 ⁷ Je prépare contre toi des destructeurs,
chacun avec ses armes.
Ils abattront tes plus beaux cèdres
et les jetteront au feu.

VULC ⁷ Et sanctificabo super te, interficientem virum et arma ejus :
et succident electas cedros tuas,
et præcipitabunt in ignem.

KJV ⁸ And many nations shall pass by this city, and they shall say every man to his neighbour, Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this great city?

S21 ⁸ »Des nations nombreuses passeront près de cette ville, et elles se demanderont l'une à l'autre: ‘Pourquoi l'Eternel a-t-il agi de cette manière envers cette grande ville?'

VULC ⁸ Et pertransibunt gentes multæ per civitatem hanc,
et dicet unusquisque proximo suo :
Quare fecit Dominus sic civitati huic grandi ?

KJV ⁹ Then they shall answer, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD their God, and worshipped other gods, and served them.

S21 ⁹ On répondra: ‘Parce qu'ils ont abandonné l'alliance de l'Eternel, leur Dieu, et qu'ils se sont prosternés devant d'autres dieux et les ont servis.'»

VULC ⁹ Et respondebunt :
Eo quod dereliquerint pactum Domini Dei sui,
et adoraverint deos alienos, et servierint eis.
