KJV ² Thus speaketh the LORD God of Israel, saying, Write thee all the words that I have spoken unto thee in a book.

NEG ² Ainsi parle l'Eternel, le Dieu d'Israël: Ecris dans un livre toutes les paroles que je t'ai dites.

VULC ² Hæc dicit Dominus Deus Israël, dicens : Scribe tibi omnia verba quæ locutus sum ad te, in libro.

KJV ³ For, lo, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will bring again the captivity of my people Israel and Judah, saith the LORD: and I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it.

NEG ³ Voici, les jours viennent, dit l'Eternel, où je ramènerai les captifs de mon peuple d'Israël et de Juda, dit l'Eternel; je les ramènerai dans le pays que j'ai donné à leurs pères, et ils le posséderont.

VULC ³ Ecce enim dies veniunt, dicit Dominus, et convertam conversionem populi mei Israël et Juda, ait Dominus : et convertam eos ad terram quam dedi patribus eorum, et possidebunt eam.

KJV ⁴ And these are the words that the LORD spake concerning Israel and concerning Judah.

NEG ⁴ Ce sont ici les paroles que l'Eternel a prononcées sur Israël et sur Juda.

KJV ⁵ For thus saith the LORD; We have heard a voice of trembling, of fear, and not of peace.

NEG ⁵ Ainsi parle l'Eternel: Nous entendons des cris d'effroi; C'est l'épouvante, ce n'est pas la paix.

VULC ⁵ [Quoniam hæc dicit Dominus :
Vocem terroris audivimus :
formido, et non est pax.

KJV ⁶ Ask ye now, and see whether a man doth travail with child? wherefore do I see every man with his hands on his loins, as a woman in travail, and all faces are turned into paleness?

NEG ⁶ Informez-vous, et regardez si un homme enfante! Pourquoi vois-je tous les hommes les mains sur leurs reins, Comme une femme en travail? Pourquoi tous les visages sont-ils devenus pâles?

VULC ⁶ Interrogate, et videte si generat masculus :
quare ergo vidi omnis viri manum
super lumbum suum, quasi parturientis,
et conversæ sunt universæ facies in auruginem ?

KJV ⁷ Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble, but he shall be saved out of it.

NEG ⁷ Malheur! car ce jour est grand; Il n'y en a point eu de semblable. C'est un temps d'angoisse pour Jacob; Mais il en sera délivré.

VULC ⁷ Væ ! quia magna dies illa,
nec est similis ejus :
tempusque tribulationis est Jacob,
et ex ipso salvabitur.

KJV ⁸ For it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off thy neck, and will burst thy bonds, and strangers shall no more serve themselves of him:

NEG ⁸ En ce jour-là, dit l'Eternel des armées, Je briserai son joug de dessus ton cou, Je romprai tes liens, Et des étrangers ne t'assujettiront plus.

VULC ⁸ Et erit in die illa, ait Dominus exercituum :
conteram jugum ejus de collo tuo,
et vincula ejus dirumpam,
et non dominabuntur ei amplius alieni :

KJV ⁹ But they shall serve the LORD their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up unto them.

NEG ⁹ Ils serviront l'Eternel, leur Dieu, Et David, leur roi, que je leur susciterai.

VULC ⁹ sed servient Domino Deo suo,
et David regi suo,
quem suscitabo eis.

KJV ¹⁰ Therefore fear thou not, O my servant Jacob, saith the LORD; neither be dismayed, O Israel: for, lo, I will save thee from afar, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and shall be in rest, and be quiet, and none shall make him afraid.

NEG ¹⁰ Et toi, mon serviteur Jacob, ne crains pas, dit l'Eternel; Ne t'effraie pas, Israël! Car je te délivrerai de la terre lointaine, Je délivrerai ta postérité du pays où elle est captive; Jacob reviendra, il jouira du repos et de la tranquillité, Et il n'y aura personne pour le troubler.

VULC ¹⁰ Tu ergo ne timeas, serve meus Jacob, ait Dominus,
neque paveas, Israël :
quia ecce ego salvabo te de terra longinqua,
et semen tuum de terra captivitatis eorum :
et revertetur Jacob, et quiescet,
et cunctis affluet bonis, et non erit quem formidet :

KJV ¹¹ For I am with thee, saith the LORD, to save thee: though I make a full end of all nations whither I have scattered thee, yet I will not make a full end of thee: but I will correct thee in measure, and will not leave thee altogether unpunished.

NEG ¹¹ Car je suis avec toi, dit l'Eternel, pour te délivrer; J'exterminerai toutes les nations parmi lesquelles je t'ai dispersé, Mais toi, je ne t'exterminerai pas; Je te châtierai avec équité, Je ne puis pas te laisser impuni.

VULC ¹¹ quoniam tecum ego sum, ait Dominus, ut salvem te.
Faciam enim consummationem in cunctis gentibus
in quibus dispersi te :
te autem non faciam in consummationem :
sed castigabo te in judicio,
ut non videaris tibi innoxius.

KJV ¹² For thus saith the LORD, Thy bruise is incurable, and thy wound is grievous.

NEG ¹² Ainsi parle l'Eternel: Ta blessure est grave, Ta plaie est douloureuse.

VULC ¹² Quia hæc dicit Dominus :
Insanabilis fractura tua ;
pessima plaga tua :

KJV ¹³ There is none to plead thy cause, that thou mayest be bound up: thou hast no healing medicines.

NEG ¹³ Nul ne défend ta cause, pour bander ta plaie; Tu n'as ni remède, ni moyen de guérison.

VULC ¹³ non est qui judicet judicium tuum ad alligandum :
curationum utilitas non est tibi.

KJV ¹⁴ All thy lovers have forgotten thee; they seek thee not; for I have wounded thee with the wound of an enemy, with the chastisement of a cruel one, for the multitude of thine iniquity; because thy sins were increased.

NEG ¹⁴ Tous ceux qui t'aimaient t'oublient, Aucun ne prend souci de toi; Car je t'ai frappée comme frappe un ennemi, Je t'ai châtiée avec violence, A cause de la multitude de tes iniquités, Du grand nombre de tes péchés.

VULC ¹⁴ Omnes amatores tui obliti sunt tui,
teque non quærent :
plaga enim inimici percussi te castigatione crudeli :
propter multitudinem iniquitatis tuæ dura facta sunt peccata tua.

KJV ¹⁵ Why criest thou for thine affliction? thy sorrow is incurable for the multitude of thine iniquity: because thy sins were increased, I have done these things unto thee.

NEG ¹⁵ Pourquoi te plaindre de ta blessure, De la douleur que cause ton mal? C'est à cause de la multitude de tes iniquités, Du grand nombre de tes péchés, Que je t'ai fait souffrir ces choses.

VULC ¹⁵ Quid clamas super contritione tua ?
insanabilis est dolor tuus :
propter multitudinem iniquitatis tuæ,
et propter dura peccata tua,
feci hæc tibi.

KJV ¹⁶ Therefore all they that devour thee shall be devoured; and all thine adversaries, every one of them, shall go into captivity; and they that spoil thee shall be a spoil, and all that prey upon thee will I give for a prey.

NEG ¹⁶ Cependant, tous ceux qui te dévorent seront dévorés, Et tous tes ennemis, tous, iront en captivité; Ceux qui te dépouillent seront dépouillés, Et j'abandonnerai au pillage tous ceux qui te pillent.

VULC ¹⁶ Propterea omnes qui comedunt te devorabuntur,
et universi hostes tui in captivitatem ducentur :
et qui te vastant vastabuntur,
cunctosque prædatores tuos dabo in prædam.

KJV ¹⁷ For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the LORD; because they called thee an Outcast, saying, This is Zion, whom no man seeketh after.

NEG ¹⁷ Mais je te guérirai, je panserai tes plaies, Dit l'Eternel. Car ils t'appellent la repoussée, Cette Sion dont nul ne prend souci.

VULC ¹⁷ Obducam enim cicatricem tibi,
et a vulneribus tuis sanabo te, dicit Dominus.
Quia ejectam vocaverunt te, Sion :
hæc est, quæ non habebat requirentem.

KJV ¹⁸ Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will bring again the captivity of Jacob's tents, and have mercy on his dwellingplaces; and the city shall be builded upon her own heap, and the palace shall remain after the manner thereof.

NEG ¹⁸ Ainsi parle l'Eternel: Voici, je ramène les captifs des tentes de Jacob, J'ai compassion de ses demeures; La ville sera rebâtie sur ses ruines, Le palais sera rétabli comme il était.

VULC ¹⁸ Hæc dicit Dominus :
Ecce ego convertam conversionem tabernaculorum Jacob,
et tectis ejus miserebor :
et ædificabitur civitas in excelso suo,
et templum juxta ordinem suum fundabitur :

KJV ¹⁹ And out of them shall proceed thanksgiving and the voice of them that make merry: and I will multiply them, and they shall not be few; I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small.

NEG ¹⁹ Du milieu d'eux s'élèveront des actions de grâces Et des cris de réjouissance; Je les multiplierai, et ils ne diminueront pas; Je les honorerai, et ils ne seront pas méprisés.

VULC ¹⁹ et egredietur de eis laus,
voxque ludentium.
Et multiplicabo eos, et non minuentur :
et glorificabo eos, et non attenuabuntur.

KJV ²⁰ Their children also shall be as aforetime, and their congregation shall be established before me, and I will punish all that oppress them.

NEG ²⁰ Ses fils seront comme autrefois, Son assemblée subsistera devant moi, Et je châtierai tous ses oppresseurs.

VULC ²⁰ Et erunt filii ejus sicut a principio,
et cœtus ejus coram me permanebit,
et visitabo adversum omnes qui tribulant eum.

KJV ²¹ And their nobles shall be of themselves, and their governor shall proceed from the midst of them; and I will cause him to draw near, and he shall approach unto me: for who is this that engaged his heart to approach unto me? saith the LORD.

NEG ²¹ Son chef sera tiré de son sein, Son dominateur sortira du milieu de lui; Je le ferai approcher, et il viendra vers moi; Car qui oserait de lui-même s'approcher de moi? Dit l'Eternel.

VULC ²¹ Et erit dux ejus ex eo,
et princeps de medio ejus producetur :
et applicabo eum, et accedet ad me.
Quis enim iste est qui applicet cor suum
ut appropinquet mihi ? ait Dominus :

KJV ²² And ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.

NEG ²² Vous serez mon peuple, Et je serai votre Dieu.

VULC ²² et eritis mihi in populum, et ego ero vobis in Deum.

KJV ²³ Behold, the whirlwind of the LORD goeth forth with fury, a continuing whirlwind: it shall fall with pain upon the head of the wicked.

NEG ²³ Voici, la tempête de l'Eternel, la fureur éclate, L'orage se précipite, Il fond sur la tête des méchants.

VULC ²³ Ecce turbo Domini, furor egrediens, procella ruens :
in capite impiorum conquiescet.

KJV ²⁴ The fierce anger of the LORD shall not return, until he hath done it, and until he have performed the intents of his heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it.

NEG ²⁴ La colère ardente de l'Eternel ne se calmera pas, Jusqu'à ce qu'il ait accompli, exécuté les desseins de son cœur. Vous le comprendrez dans la suite des temps.

VULC ²⁴ Non avertet iram indignationis Dominus,
donec faciat et compleat cogitationem cordis sui :
in novissimo dierum intelligetis ea.]

KJV ¹ At the same time, saith the LORD, will I be the God of all the families of Israel, and they shall be my people.

NEG ¹ En ce temps-là, dit l'Eternel, Je serai le Dieu de toutes les familles d'Israël, Et ils seront mon peuple.

VULC ¹ [In tempore illo, dicit Dominus,
ero Deus universis cognationibus Israël,
et ipsi erunt mihi in populum.

KJV ² Thus saith the LORD, The people which were left of the sword found grace in the wilderness; even Israel, when I went to cause him to rest.

NEG ² Ainsi parle l'Eternel: Il a trouvé grâce dans le désert, Le peuple de ceux qui ont échappé au glaive; Israël marche vers son lieu de repos.

VULC ² Hæc dicit Dominus :
Invenit gratiam in deserto populus qui remanserat a gladio :
vadet ad requiem suam Israël.

KJV ³ The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.

NEG ³ De loin l'Eternel se montre à moi: Je t'aime d'un amour éternel; C'est pourquoi je te conserve ma bonté.

VULC ³ Longe Dominus apparuit mihi.
Et in caritate perpetua dilexi te :
ideo attraxi te, miserans.

KJV ⁴ Again I will build thee, and thou shalt be built, O virgin of Israel: thou shalt again be adorned with thy tabrets, and shalt go forth in the dances of them that make merry.

NEG ⁴ Je te rétablirai encore, et tu seras rétablie, Vierge d'Israël! Tu auras encore tes tambourins pour parure, Et tu sortiras au milieu des danses joyeuses.

VULC ⁴ Rursumque ædificabo te, et ædificaberis, virgo Israël :
adhuc ornaberis tympanis tuis,
et egredieris in choro ludentium.

KJV ⁵ Thou shalt yet plant vines upon the mountains of Samaria: the planters shall plant, and shall eat them as common things.

NEG ⁵ Tu planteras encore des vignes sur les montagnes de Samarie; Les planteurs planteront, et cueilleront les fruits.

VULC ⁵ Adhuc plantabis vineas in montibus Samariæ :
plantabunt plantantes,
et donec tempus veniat, non vindemiabunt.

KJV ⁶ For there shall be a day, that the watchmen upon the mount Ephraim shall cry, Arise ye, and let us go up to Zion unto the LORD our God.

NEG ⁶ Car le jour vient où les gardes crieront sur la montagne d'Ephraïm:

VULC ⁶ Quia erit dies in qua clamabunt custodes in monte Ephraim :
Surgite, et ascendamus in Sion ad Dominum Deum nostrum.

KJV ⁷ For thus saith the LORD; Sing with gladness for Jacob, and shout among the chief of the nations: publish ye, praise ye, and say, O LORD, save thy people, the remnant of Israel.

NEG ⁷ Levez-vous, montons à Sion, vers l'Eternel, notre Dieu! Car ainsi parle l'Eternel: Poussez des cris de joie sur Jacob, Eclatez d'allégresse à la tête des nations! Elevez vos voix, chantez des louanges, et dites: Eternel, délivre ton peuple, le reste d'Israël!

VULC ⁷ Quia hæc dicit Dominus :
Exsultate in lætitia, Jacob,
et hinnite contra caput gentium :
personate, et canite, et dicite :
Salva, Domine, populum tuum, reliquias Israël.

KJV ⁸ Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the coasts of the earth, and with them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her that travaileth with child together: a great company shall return thither.

NEG ⁸ Voici, je les ramène du pays du septentrion, Je les rassemble des extrémités de la terre; Parmi eux sont l'aveugle et le boiteux, La femme enceinte et celle en travail; C'est une grande multitude, qui revient ici.

VULC ⁸ Ecce ego adducam eos de terra aquilonis,
et congregabo eos ab extremis terræ :
inter quos erunt cæcus et claudus,
prægnans et pariens simul,
cœtus magnus revertentium huc.

KJV ⁹ They shall come with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble: for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn.

NEG ⁹ Ils viennent en pleurant, et je les conduis au milieu de leurs supplications; Je les mène vers des torrents d'eau, Par un chemin uni où ils ne chancellent pas; Car je suis un père pour Israël, Et Ephraïm est mon premier-né.

VULC ⁹ In fletu venient,
et in misericordia reducam eos :
et adducam eos per torrentes aquarum in via recta,
et non impingent in ea,
quia factus sum Israëli pater,
et Ephraim primogenitus meus est.

KJV ¹⁰ Hear the word of the LORD, O ye nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd doth his flock.

et annuntiate in insulis quæ procul sunt,

et custodiet eum sicut pastor gregem suum.

KJV ¹¹ For the LORD hath redeemed Jacob, and ransomed him from the hand of him that was stronger than he.

VULC ¹¹ Redemit enim Dominus Jacob,
et liberavit eum de manu potentioris.

KJV ¹² Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of the LORD, for wheat, and for wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the herd: and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all.

NEG ¹² Ils viendront, et pousseront des cris de joie sur les hauteurs de Sion; Ils accourront vers les biens de l'Eternel, Le blé, le moût, l'huile, Les brebis et les bœufs; Leur âme sera comme un jardin arrosé, Et ils ne seront plus dans la souffrance.

VULC ¹² Et venient, et laudabunt in monte Sion :
et confluent ad bona Domini,
super frumento, et vino, et oleo,
et fœtu pecorum et armentorum :
eritque anima eorum quasi hortus irriguus,
et ultra non esurient.

KJV ¹³ Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together: for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow.

NEG ¹³ Alors les jeunes filles se réjouiront à la danse, Les jeunes hommes et les vieillards se réjouiront aussi; Je changerai leur deuil en allégresse, et je les consolerai; Je leur donnerai de la joie après leurs chagrins.

VULC ¹³ Tunc lætabitur virgo in choro,
juvenes et senes simul :
et convertam luctum eorum in gaudium,
et consolabor eos, et lætificabo a dolore suo.

KJV ¹⁴ And I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, saith the LORD.

NEG ¹⁴ Je rassasierai de graisse l'âme des sacrificateurs, Et mon peuple se rassasiera de mes biens, dit l'Eternel.

VULC ¹⁴ Et inebriabo animam sacerdotum pinguedine,
et populus meus bonis meis adimplebitur, ait Dominus.

KJV ¹⁵ Thus saith the LORD; A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rahel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not.

NEG ¹⁵ Ainsi parle l'Eternel: On entend des cris à Rama, Des lamentations, des larmes amères; Rachel pleure ses enfants; Elle refuse d'être consolée sur ses enfants, Car ils ne sont plus.

VULC ¹⁵ Hæc dicit Dominus :
Vox in excelso audita est lamentationis :
luctus, et fletus Rachel plorantis filios suos,
et nolentis consolari super eis,
quia non sunt.

KJV ¹⁶ Thus saith the LORD; Refrain thy voice from weeping, and thine eyes from tears: for thy work shall be rewarded, saith the LORD; and they shall come again from the land of the enemy.

NEG ¹⁶ Ainsi parle l'Eternel: Retiens tes pleurs, Retiens les larmes de tes yeux; Car il y aura un salaire pour tes œuvres, dit l'Eternel; Ils reviendront du pays de l'ennemi.

VULC ¹⁶ Hæc dicit Dominus :
Quiescat vox tua a ploratu,
et oculi tui a lacrimis,
quia est merces operi tuo, ait Dominus,
et revertentur de terra inimici :

KJV ¹⁷ And there is hope in thine end, saith the LORD, that thy children shall come again to their own border.

NEG ¹⁷ Il y a de l'espérance pour ton avenir, dit l'Eternel; Tes enfants reviendront dans leur territoire.

VULC ¹⁷ et est spes novissimis tuis, ait Dominus,
et revertentur filii ad terminos suos.

KJV ¹⁸ I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself thus; Thou hast chastised me, and I was chastised, as a bullock unaccustomed to the yoke: turn thou me, and I shall be turned; for thou art the LORD my God.

NEG ¹⁸ J'entends Ephraïm qui se lamente: Tu m'as châtié, et j'ai été châtié Comme un veau qui n'est pas dompté; Fais-moi revenir, et je reviendrai, Car tu es l'Eternel, mon Dieu.

VULC ¹⁸ Audiens audivi Ephraim transmigrantem :
Castigasti me, et eruditus sum,
quasi juvenculus indomitus :
converte me, et convertar,
quia tu Dominus Deus meus.

KJV ¹⁹ Surely after that I was turned, I repented; and after that I was instructed, I smote upon my thigh: I was ashamed, yea, even confounded, because I did bear the reproach of my youth.

NEG ¹⁹ Après m'être détourné, j'éprouve du repentir; Et après avoir reconnu mes fautes, je frappe sur ma cuisse; Je suis honteux et confus, Car je porte l'opprobre de ma jeunesse.

VULC ¹⁹ Postquam enim convertisti me, egi pœnitentiam :
et postquam ostendisti mihi, percussi femur meum.
Confusus sum, et erubui,
quoniam sustinui opprobrium adolescentiæ meæ.

KJV ²⁰ Is Ephraim my dear son? is he a pleasant child? for since I spake against him, I do earnestly remember him still: therefore my bowels are troubled for him; I will surely have mercy upon him, saith the LORD.

NEG ²⁰ Ephraïm est-il donc pour moi un fils chéri, Un enfant qui fait mes délices? Car plus je parle de lui, plus encore son souvenir est en moi; Aussi mes entrailles sont émues en sa faveur: J'aurai pitié de lui, dit l'Eternel.

VULC ²⁰ Si filius honorabilis mihi Ephraim,
si puer delicatus !
quia ex quo locutus sum de eo,
adhuc recordabor ejus.
Idcirco conturbata sunt viscera mea super eum :
miserans miserebor ejus, ait Dominus.

KJV ²¹ Set thee up waymarks, make thee high heaps: set thine heart toward the highway, even the way which thou wentest: turn again, O virgin of Israel, turn again to these thy cities.

NEG ²¹ Dresse des signes, place des poteaux, Prends garde à la route, au chemin que tu as suivi… Reviens, vierge d'Israël, Reviens dans ces villes qui sont à toi!

VULC ²¹ Statue tibi speculam ;
pone tibi amaritudines ;
dirige cor tuum in viam rectam in qua ambulasti :
revertere, virgo Israël,
revertere ad civitates tuas istas.

KJV ²² How long wilt thou go about, O thou backsliding daughter? for the LORD hath created a new thing in the earth, A woman shall compass a man.

NEG ²² Jusqu'à quand seras-tu errante, Fille égarée? Car l'Eternel crée une chose nouvelle sur la terre: La femme recherchera l'homme.

VULC ²² Usquequo deliciis dissolveris, filia vaga ?
quia creavit Dominus novum super terram :
femina circumdabit virum.

KJV ²³ Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; As yet they shall use this speech in the land of Judah and in the cities thereof, when I shall bring again their captivity; The LORD bless thee, O habitation of justice, and mountain of holiness.

NEG ²³ Ainsi parle l'Eternel des armées, le Dieu d'Israël: Voici encore ce que l'on dira dans le pays de Juda et dans ses villes, Quand j'aurai ramené leurs captifs: Que l'Eternel te bénisse, demeure de la justice, Montagne sainte!

VULC ²³ Hæc dicit Dominus exercituum, Deus Israël :
Adhuc dicent verbum istud
in terra Juda et in urbibus ejus,
cum convertero captivitatem eorum :
Benedicat tibi Dominus, pulchritudo justitiæ, mons sanctus :

KJV ³⁰ But every one shall die for his own iniquity: every man that eateth the sour grape, his teeth shall be set on edge.
