DRB ⁵ Pourquoi ce peuple de Jérusalem s'est-il détourné d'un égarement continuel ? Ils tiennent ferme à la tromperie, ils refusent de revenir.

KJV ⁵ Why then is this people of Jerusalem slidden back by a perpetual backsliding? they hold fast deceit, they refuse to return.

VULC ⁵ Quare ergo aversus est populus iste in Jerusalem
aversione contentiosa ?
Apprehenderunt mendacium,
et noluerunt reverti.

WLC ⁵ מַדּ֨וּעַ שׁוֹבְבָ֜ה הָעָ֥ם הַזֶּ֛ה יְרוּשָׁלִַ֖ם מְשֻׁבָ֣ה נִצַּ֑חַת הֶחֱזִ֙יקוּ֙ בַּתַּרְמִ֔ית מֵאֲנ֖וּ לָשֽׁוּב׃

DRB ⁶ J'ai fait attention, et j'ai écouté : ils ne parlent pas droitement, il n'y a personne qui se repente de son iniquité, disant : Qu'ai-je fait ? Tous ils retournent à leur course*, comme le cheval qui se précipite dans la bataille.

KJV ⁶ I hearkened and heard, but they spake not aright: no man repented him of his wickedness, saying, What have I done? every one turned to his course, as the horse rusheth into the battle.

nemo quod bonum est loquitur ;

Omnes conversi sunt ad cursum suum,

DRB ⁷ Même la cigogne dans les cieux connaît sa saison ; et la tourterelle, et l'hirondelle, et la grue, prennent garde au temps où elles doivent venir, mais mon peuple ne connaît pas le jugement de l'Éternel.

KJV ⁷ Yea, the stork in the heaven knoweth her appointed times; and the turtle and the crane and the swallow observe the time of their coming; but my people know not the judgment of the LORD.

VULC ⁷ Milvus in cælo cognovit tempus suum :
turtur, et hirundo, et ciconia custodierunt tempus adventus sui :
populus autem meus non cognovit judicium Domini.

DRB ⁸ Comment dites-vous : Nous sommes sages, et la loi de l'Éternel est avec nous ? - Mais voici, la plume menteuse des scribes [en] a fait une fausseté.

KJV ⁸ How do ye say, We are wise, and the law of the LORD is with us? Lo, certainly in vain made he it; the pen of the scribes is in vain.

VULC ⁸ Quomodo dicitis : Sapientes nos sumus,
et lex Domini nobiscum est ?
vere mendacium operatus est stylus mendax scribarum !

WLC ⁸ אֵיכָ֤ה תֹֽאמְרוּ֙ חֲכָמִ֣ים אֲנַ֔חְנוּ וְתוֹרַ֥ת יְהוָ֖ה אִתָּ֑נוּ אָכֵן֙ הִנֵּ֣ה לַשֶּׁ֣קֶר עָשָׂ֔ה עֵ֖ט שֶׁ֥קֶר סֹפְרִֽים׃

DRB ⁹ Les sages sont couverts de honte, ils ont peur, et sont pris ; voici, ils ont méprisé la parole de l'Éternel, et quelle sagesse ont-ils ?

KJV ⁹ The wise men are ashamed, they are dismayed and taken: lo, they have rejected the word of the LORD; and what wisdom is in them?

VULC ⁹ Confusi sunt sapientes ;
perterriti et capti sunt :
verbum enim Domini projecerunt,
et sapientia nulla est in eis.

WLC ⁹ הֹבִ֣ישׁוּ חֲכָמִ֔ים חַ֖תּוּ וַיִּלָּכֵ֑דוּ הִנֵּ֤ה בִדְבַר־ יְהוָה֙ מָאָ֔סוּ וְחָכְמַֽת־ מֶ֖ה לָהֶֽם׃

DRB ¹⁰ C'est pourquoi je donnerai leurs femmes à d'autres, leurs champs à ceux qui les posséderont ; car depuis le petit jusqu'au grand, ils sont tous adonnés au gain déshonnête ; depuis le prophète jusqu'au sacrificateur, tous usent de fausseté.

KJV ¹⁰ Therefore will I give their wives unto others, and their fields to them that shall inherit them: for every one from the least even unto the greatest is given to covetousness, from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely.

DRB ¹¹ Et ils ont pansé la plaie de la fille de mon peuple légèrement, disant : Paix, paix ! et il n'y avait point de paix.

KJV ¹¹ For they have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.

VULC ¹¹ Et sanabant contritionem filiæ populi mei ad ignominiam,

DRB ¹² Avaient-ils honte, parce qu'ils avaient commis l'abomination ? Ils n'ont eu même aucune honte, et ils ne savent pas ce que c'est que d'être confus ; c'est pourquoi ils tomberont parmi ceux qui tombent ; au temps de leur visitation ils trébucheront, dit l'Éternel.

KJV ¹² Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore shall they fall among them that fall: in the time of their visitation they shall be cast down, saith the LORD.

quinimmo confusione non sunt confusi,
et erubescere nescierunt.

DRB ¹³ Je les ôterai entièrement, dit l'Éternel. Il n'y a pas de raisins sur la vigne, et pas de figues sur le figuier, et la feuille est flétrie ; et je les livrerai à ceux qui passeront sur eux.

KJV ¹³ I will surely consume them, saith the LORD: there shall be no grapes on the vine, nor figs on the fig tree, and the leaf shall fade; and the things that I have given them shall pass away from them.

VULC ¹³ Congregans congregabo eos, ait Dominus.
Non est uva in vitibus, et non sunt ficus in ficulnea :
folium defluxit,
