Lc 19-24 (Darby)

   ¹ Et il entra dans Jéricho, et traversa [la ville]. ² Et voici, un homme, appelé du nom de Zachée : et il était chef de publicains, et il était riche ; ³ et il cherchait à voir Jésus, quel il était ; et il ne pouvait, à cause de la foule, car il était petit de taille. ⁴ Et, courant en avant, il monta sur un sycomore pour le voir ; car il allait passer là. ⁵ Et quand il fut venu à cet endroit, Jésus, regardant, le vit, et lui dit : Zachée, descends vite ; car il faut que je demeure aujourd'hui dans ta maison. ⁶ Et il descendit à la hâte, et le reçut avec joie. ⁷ Et voyant cela, tous murmuraient, disant qu'il était entré chez un pécheur pour y loger. ⁸ Et Zachée, se tenant là, dit au Seigneur : Voici, Seigneur, je donne la moitié de mes biens aux pauvres ; et si j'ai fait tort à quelqu'un par une fausse accusation, je lui rends le quadruple. ⁹ Et Jésus lui dit : Aujourd'hui [le] salut est venu* à cette maison, vu que lui aussi est fils d'Abraham ; ¹⁰ car le fils de l'homme est venu chercher et sauver ce qui était perdu.
   ¹¹ Et comme ils entendaient ces choses, il ajouta et [leur] dit une parabole, parce qu'il était près de Jérusalem, et qu'ils pensaient que le royaume de Dieu allait immédiatement paraître. ¹² Il dit donc : Un homme noble* s'en alla dans un pays éloigné, pour recevoir un royaume** et revenir. ¹³ Et ayant appelé dix de ses propres esclaves, il leur donna dix mines, et leur dit : Trafiquez jusqu'à ce que je vienne. ¹⁴ Or ses concitoyens* le haïssaient ; et ils envoyèrent après lui une ambassade, disant : Nous ne voulons pas que celui-ci règne sur nous. ¹⁵ Et il arriva, à son retour, après qu'il eut reçu le royaume*, qu'il commanda d'appeler auprès de lui ces esclaves auxquels il avait donné l'argent, afin qu'il sût combien chacun aurait gagné par son trafic. ¹⁶ Et le premier se présenta, disant : Maître*, ta mine a produit dix mines. ¹⁷ Et il lui dit : Bien, bon esclave, parce que tu as été fidèle en ce qui est très peu de chose, aie autorité sur dix villes. ¹⁸ Et le second vint, disant : Maître, ta mine a produit cinq mines. ¹⁹ Et il dit aussi à celui-ci : Et toi, sois [établi] sur cinq villes. ²⁰ Et un autre vint, disant : Maître, voici ta mine, que j'ai gardée déposée dans un linge ; ²¹ car je t'ai craint, parce que tu es un homme sévère : tu prends ce que tu n'as pas mis, et tu moissonnes ce que tu n'as pas semé. ²² Il lui dit : Je te jugerai par ta propre parole*, méchant esclave : tu savais que moi je suis un homme sévère, prenant ce que je n'ai pas mis et moissonnant ce que je n'ai pas semé ; ²³ et pourquoi n'as-tu pas mis mon argent à la banque, et quand je serais venu je l'eusse retiré avec l'intérêt ? ²⁴ Et il dit à ceux qui étaient présents : Ôtez-lui la mine et donnez-la à celui qui a les dix mines. ²⁵ - Et ils lui dirent : Seigneur, il a dix mines. ²⁶ - Car je vous dis qu'à quiconque a, il sera donné ; et à celui qui n'a pas, cela même qu'il a lui sera ôté. ²⁷ Mais ceux-là, mes ennemis, qui n'ont pas voulu que je régnasse sur eux, amenez-les ici et tuez-les devant moi.
   ²⁸ Et ayant dit ces choses, il allait devant eux, montant à Jérusalem. ²⁹ Et il arriva, comme il approchait de Bethphagé et de Béthanie, vers la montagne appelée des Oliviers, qu'il envoya deux de ses disciples, disant : ³⁰ Allez au village qui est vis-à-vis ; et y étant entrés, vous trouverez un ânon attaché, sur lequel jamais aucun homme* ne s'assit ; détachez-le, et amenez-le. ³¹ Et si quelqu'un vous demande pourquoi vous le détachez, vous lui direz ainsi : Le Seigneur en a besoin. ³² Et ceux qui étaient envoyés, s'en allant, trouvèrent [tout] comme il le leur avait dit. ³³ Et comme ils détachaient l'ânon, les maîtres de celui-ci leur dirent : Pourquoi détachez-vous l'ânon ? ³⁴ Et ils dirent : Parce que le Seigneur en a besoin. ³⁵ Et ils l'amenèrent à Jésus ; et ayant jeté leurs vêtements sur l'ânon, ils mirent Jésus dessus. ³⁶ Et comme il allait son chemin, ils étendaient leurs vêtements sur le chemin. ³⁷ Et comme il approchait déjà, à la descente de la montagne des Oliviers, toute la multitude des disciples, se réjouissant, se mit à louer Dieu à haute voix pour tous les miracles qu'ils avaient vus, disant : ³⁸ Béni soit le roi qui vient au nom du *Seigneur* ! Paix au ciel, et gloire dans les lieux très hauts ! ³⁹ Et quelques-uns des pharisiens lui dirent du milieu de la foule : Maître, reprends tes disciples. ⁴⁰ Et répondant, il leur dit : Je vous dis que si ceux-ci se taisent, les pierres crieront.
   ⁴¹ Et quand il fut proche, voyant la ville, il pleura sur elle, disant : ⁴² Si tu eusses connu, toi aussi, au moins en cette tienne journée, les choses qui appartiennent à ta paix ! mais maintenant elles sont cachées devant tes yeux. ⁴³ Car des jours viendront sur toi, où tes ennemis t'entoureront de tranchées, et t'environneront, et te serreront de tous côtés, ⁴⁴ et te renverseront par terre, toi et tes enfants au dedans de toi ; et ils ne laisseront pas en toi pierre sur pierre, parce que tu n'as point connu le temps de ta visitation*. ⁴⁵ Et il entra au temple, et se mit à chasser dehors ceux qui y vendaient et qui y achetaient, ⁴⁶ leur disant : Il est écrit : «Ma maison est une maison de prière» {Ésaïe 56:7} ; mais vous, vous en avez fait une caverne de voleurs*. ⁴⁷ Et il enseignait tous les jours dans le temple ; et les principaux sacrificateurs et les scribes, et les principaux du peuple, tâchaient de le faire mourir. ⁴⁸ Et ils ne trouvaient rien qu'ils pussent faire ; car tout le peuple se tenait suspendu à ses lèvres pour l'entendre.

Luc 20

   ¹ Et il arriva, l'un de ces jours*, comme il enseignait le peuple dans le temple et évangélisait, que les principaux sacrificateurs et les scribes survinrent avec les anciens. ² Et ils lui parlèrent, disant : Dis-nous par quelle autorité tu fais ces choses, ou qui est celui qui t'a donné cette autorité ? ³ Et répondant, il leur dit : Je vous demanderai, moi aussi, une chose, et dites-moi : ⁴ Le baptême de Jean était-il du ciel, ou des hommes ? ⁵ Et ils raisonnèrent entre eux, disant : Si nous disons : Du ciel, il dira : Pourquoi ne l'avez-vous pas cru ? ⁶ Et si nous disons : Des hommes, tout le peuple nous lapidera, car il est persuadé que Jean était un prophète. ⁷ Et ils répondirent qu'ils ne savaient pas d'où [il était]. ⁸ Et Jésus leur dit : Moi non plus, je ne vous dis pas par quelle autorité je fais ces choses.
   ⁹ Et il se mit à dire au peuple cette parabole : Un homme planta une vigne, et la loua à des cultivateurs, et s'en alla hors du pays pour longtemps. ¹⁰ Et en la saison, il envoya un esclave aux cultivateurs, afin qu'ils lui donnassent du fruit de la vigne ; mais les cultivateurs, l'ayant battu, le renvoyèrent à vide. ¹¹ Et il envoya encore un autre esclave ; mais l'ayant battu lui aussi, et l'ayant traité ignominieusement, ils le renvoyèrent à vide. ¹² Et il en envoya encore un troisième ; mais ils blessèrent aussi celui-ci, et le jetèrent dehors. ¹³ Et le maître de la vigne dit : Que ferai-je ? J'enverrai mon fils bien-aimé ; peut-être que, quand ils verront celui-ci, ils le respecteront. ¹⁴ Mais quand les cultivateurs le virent, ils raisonnèrent entre eux, disant : Celui-ci est l'héritier, tuons-le, afin que l'héritage soit à nous. ¹⁵ Et l'ayant jeté hors de la vigne, ils le tuèrent. Que leur fera donc le maître de la vigne ? ¹⁶ Il viendra et fera périr ces cultivateurs, et donnera la vigne à d'autres. Et l'ayant entendu, ils dirent : Qu'ainsi n'advienne ! ¹⁷ Et lui, les regardant, dit : Qu'est-ce donc que ceci qui est écrit : «La pierre que ceux qui bâtissaient ont rejetée, celle-là est devenue la maîtresse pierre du coin» ? {Psaume 118:22}. ¹⁸ Quiconque tombera sur cette pierre, sera brisé ; mais celui sur qui elle tombera, elle le broiera. ¹⁹ Et les principaux sacrificateurs et les scribes cherchèrent, en cette heure même, à mettre les mains sur lui ; et ils craignaient le peuple, car ils connurent qu'il avait dit cette parabole contre eux.
   ²⁰ Et l'observant, ils envoyèrent des agents secrets, qui feignaient d'être justes, pour le surprendre en [quelque] parole, de manière à le livrer au magistrat et au pouvoir du gouverneur. ²¹ Et ils l'interrogèrent, disant : Maître, nous savons que tu dis et que tu enseignes justement, et que tu n'as point égard à l'apparence des personnes, mais que tu enseignes la voie de Dieu avec vérité. ²² Nous est-il permis de payer le tribut à César*, ou non ? ²³ Et s'apercevant de leur perfidie, il leur dit : Pourquoi me tentez-vous ? ²⁴ Montrez-moi un denier ; de qui a-t-il l'image et l'inscription ? Et répondant, ils dirent : De César. ²⁵ Et il leur dit : Rendez donc les choses de César à César, et les choses de Dieu à Dieu. ²⁶ Et ils ne pouvaient le surprendre dans ses paroles devant le peuple ; et étonnés de sa réponse, ils se turent.
   ²⁷ Et quelques-uns des sadducéens, qui nient qu'il y ait une résurrection, s'approchèrent, et l'interrogèrent, ²⁸ disant : Maître, Moïse nous a écrit, que si le frère de quelqu'un meurt, ayant une femme, et qu'il meure sans enfants, son frère prenne la femme et suscite de la postérité* à son frère**. ²⁹ Il y avait donc sept frères ; et le premier, ayant pris une femme, mourut sans enfants ; ³⁰ et le second [prit la femme, et celui-ci aussi mourut sans enfants] ; ³¹ et le troisième la prit, et de même aussi les sept : ils ne laissèrent pas d'enfants et moururent ; ³² et après eux tous la femme aussi mourut. ³³ Dans la résurrection donc, duquel d'entre eux sera-t-elle la femme, car les sept l'ont eue pour femme ? ³⁴ Et Jésus leur dit : Les fils de ce siècle* se marient et sont donnés en mariage ; ³⁵ mais ceux qui seront estimés dignes d'avoir part à ce siècle-là et à la résurrection d'entre les morts, ne se marient ni ne sont donnés en mariage, ³⁶ car aussi ils ne peuvent plus mourir ; car ils sont semblables aux anges, et ils sont fils de Dieu, étant fils de la résurrection. ³⁷ Or que les morts ressuscitent, Moïse même l'a montré, au [titre] : «Du buisson», quand il appelle le *Seigneur : le Dieu d'Abraham, et le Dieu d'Isaac, et le Dieu de Jacob*. ³⁸ Or il n'est pas le Dieu des morts, mais des vivants ; car pour lui tous vivent.
   ³⁹ Et quelques-uns des scribes, répondant, dirent : Maître, tu as bien dit. ⁴⁰ Et ils n'osèrent plus l'interroger sur rien. ⁴¹ Et il leur dit : Comment dit-on que le Christ est fils de David ? ⁴² Et David lui-même dit, dans le livre des Psaumes : «Le *Seigneur a dit à mon seigneur : ⁴³ Assieds-toi à ma droite, jusqu'à ce que je mette tes ennemis pour marchepied de tes pieds» {Psaume 110:1}. ⁴⁴ David donc l'appelle seigneur ; et comment est-il son fils ? ⁴⁵ Et comme tout le peuple écoutait, il dit à ses disciples : ⁴⁶ Soyez en garde contre les scribes, qui se plaisent à se promener en longues robes, et qui aiment les salutations dans les places publiques, et les premiers sièges dans les synagogues, et les premières places dans les repas ; ⁴⁷ qui dévorent les maisons des veuves, et pour prétexte font de longues prières ; - ceux-ci recevront une sentence plus sévère.

Luc 21

   ¹ Et comme il regardait, il vit des riches qui jetaient leurs dons au trésor. ² Et il vit aussi une pauvre veuve qui y jetait deux pites*. ³ Et il dit : En vérité, je vous dis que cette pauvre veuve a jeté plus que tous [les autres] ; ⁴ car tous ceux-ci ont jeté aux offrandes [de Dieu] de leur superflu, mais celle-ci y a jeté de sa pénurie, tout ce qu'elle avait pour vivre.
   ⁵ Et comme quelques-uns parlaient du temple [et disaient] qu'il était orné de belles pierres et de dons*, il dit : ⁶ Quant à ces choses que vous regardez, les jours viendront où il ne sera laissé pierre sur pierre qui ne soit jetée à bas. ⁷ Et ils l'interrogèrent, disant : Maître, quand donc ces choses auront-elles lieu, et quel sera le signe quand ces choses devront arriver ? ⁸ Et il dit : Prenez garde que vous ne soyez séduits ; car plusieurs viendront en mon nom, disant : C'est moi, et le temps est proche ; n'allez point après eux. ⁹ Et quand vous entendrez parler de guerres et de séditions, ne vous épouvantez pas ; car il faut que ces choses arrivent premièrement ; mais la fin ne sera pas tout aussitôt. ¹⁰ Alors il leur dit : Nation s'élèvera contre nation, et royaume contre royaume ; ¹¹ et il y aura de grands tremblements de terre en divers lieux, et des famines, et des pestes ; et il y aura des sujets d'épouvantement et de grands signes du ciel. ¹² Mais, avant toutes ces choses, ils mettront les mains sur vous, et vous persécuteront, vous livrant aux synagogues et [vous mettant] en prison ; et vous serez menés devant les rois et les gouverneurs à cause de mon nom. ¹³ Et cela se tournera pour vous en témoignage. ¹⁴ Mettez donc dans vos cœurs de ne pas vous préoccuper à l'avance de votre défense, ¹⁵ car moi je vous donnerai une bouche et une sagesse, à laquelle tous vos adversaires ne pourront répondre ou résister. ¹⁶ Et vous serez aussi livrés par des parents et par des frères, et par des proches et par des amis, et on fera mourir [quelques-uns] d'entre vous ; ¹⁷ et vous serez haïs de tous, à cause de mon nom. ¹⁸ Et pas un cheveu de votre tête ne périra. ¹⁹ Possédez* vos âmes par votre patience.
   ²⁰ Et quand vous verrez Jérusalem environnée d'armées, sachez alors que sa désolation est proche. ²¹ Alors, que ceux qui sont en Judée s'enfuient dans les montagnes ; et que ceux qui sont au milieu de Jérusalem s'en retirent ; et que ceux qui sont dans les campagnes* n'entrent pas en elle. ²² Car ce sont là des jours de vengeance* ; afin que toutes les choses qui sont écrites soient accomplies. ²³ Mais malheur à celles qui sont enceintes et à celles qui allaitent en ces jours-là ! car il y aura une grande détresse sur le pays, et de la colère contre ce peuple. ²⁴ Et ils tomberont sous le tranchant de l'épée, et seront menés captifs parmi toutes les nations ; et Jérusalem sera foulée aux pieds par les nations jusqu'à ce que les temps des nations soient accomplis. ²⁵ Et il y aura des signes dans le soleil et la lune et les étoiles*, et sur la terre une angoisse des nations en perplexité devant le grand bruit de la mer et des flots, ²⁶ les hommes rendant l'âme de peur et à cause de l'attente des choses qui viennent sur la terre habitée, car les puissances des cieux seront ébranlées. ²⁷ Et alors on verra le fils de l'homme venant sur une nuée avec puissance et une grande gloire. ²⁸ Et quand ces choses commenceront à arriver, regardez en haut, et levez vos têtes, parce que votre rédemption* approche.
   ²⁹ Et il leur dit une parabole : Voyez le figuier et tous les arbres : ³⁰ quand ils ont déjà commencé à pousser, vous connaissez par vous-mêmes, en les voyant, que l'été est déjà proche. ³¹ De même aussi vous, quand vous verrez arriver ces choses, sachez que le royaume de Dieu est proche. ³² En vérité, je vous dis que cette génération ne passera point que tout ne soit arrivé. ³³ Le ciel et la terre passeront, mais mes paroles ne passeront point. ³⁴ Et prenez garde à vous-mêmes, de peur que vos cœurs ne soient appesantis par la gourmandise et l'ivrognerie, et par les soucis de la vie, et que ce jour-là ne vous surprenne inopinément ; ³⁵ car il viendra comme un filet sur tous ceux qui habitent sur la face de toute la terre. ³⁶ Veillez donc, priant en tout temps, afin que vous soyez estimés dignes d'échapper à toutes ces choses qui doivent arriver, et de vous tenir devant le fils de l'homme. ³⁷ Et il passait les jours dans le temple à enseigner ; et les nuits il sortait et demeurait dans la montagne qui est appelée des Oliviers. ³⁸ Et tout le peuple, dès le point du jour, venait à lui dans le temple, pour l'entendre.

Luc 22

   ¹ Or la fête des pains sans levain, qui est appelée la Pâque, approchait. ² Et les principaux sacrificateurs et les scribes cherchaient comment ils pourraient le faire mourir ; car ils craignaient le peuple. ³ Et Satan entra dans Judas, surnommé Iscariote, qui était du nombre des douze ; ⁴ et il s'en alla et parla avec les principaux sacrificateurs et [les] capitaines sur la manière dont il le leur livrerait. ⁵ Et ils se réjouirent, et convinrent de lui donner de l'argent. ⁶ Et il s'engagea ; et il cherchait une bonne occasion pour le leur livrer sans que la foule y fût.
   ⁷ Et le jour des pains sans levain, dans lequel il fallait sacrifier la pâque, arriva. ⁸ Et il envoya Pierre et Jean, disant : Allez, et apprêtez-nous la pâque, afin que nous la mangions. ⁹ Et ils lui dirent : Où veux-tu que nous l'apprêtions ? ¹⁰ Et il leur dit : Voici, quand vous entrerez dans la ville, un homme portant une cruche d'eau viendra à votre rencontre ; suivez-le dans la maison où il entrera. ¹¹ Et vous direz au maître* de la maison : Le maître** te dit : Où est le logis où je mangerai la pâque avec mes disciples ? ¹² Et lui vous montrera une grande chambre* garnie ; apprêtez là [la pâque]. ¹³ Et s'en étant allés, ils trouvèrent [tout] comme il leur avait dit ; et ils apprêtèrent la pâque. ¹⁴ Et quand l'heure fut venue, il se mit à table, et les [douze] apôtres avec lui. ¹⁵ Et il leur dit : J'ai fort désiré* de manger cette pâque avec vous, avant que je souffre ; ¹⁶ car je vous dis que je n'en mangerai plus jusqu'à ce qu'elle soit accomplie dans le royaume de Dieu. ¹⁷ Et ayant reçu une coupe, il rendit grâces et dit : Prenez ceci et le distribuez entre vous, ¹⁸ car je vous dis que je ne boirai plus du fruit de la vigne, jusqu'à ce que le royaume de Dieu soit venu. ¹⁹ Et ayant pris un pain, [et] ayant rendu grâces, il le rompit, et le leur donna, en disant : Ceci est mon corps, qui est donné pour vous ; faites ceci en mémoire de moi ; ²⁰ - de même la coupe aussi, après le souper, en disant : Cette coupe est la nouvelle alliance en mon sang, qui est versé pour vous ;
   ²¹ mais voici, la main de celui qui me livre est avec moi à table. ²² Et le fils de l'homme s'en va bien, selon ce qui est déterminé ; mais malheur à cet homme par qui il est livré ! ²³ Et ils se mirent à s'entre-demander l'un à l'autre, qui donc serait celui d'entre eux qui allait faire cela. ²⁴ Et il arriva aussi une contestation entre eux [pour savoir] lequel d'entre eux serait estimé le plus grand. ²⁵ Et il leur dit : Les rois des nations les dominent, et ceux qui exercent l'autorité sur elles sont appelés bienfaiteurs ; ²⁶ mais il n'en sera pas ainsi de vous ; mais que le plus grand parmi vous soit comme le plus jeune, et celui qui conduit comme celui qui sert. ²⁷ Car lequel est le plus grand, celui qui est à table ou celui qui sert ? N'est-ce pas celui qui est à table ? Or moi, je suis au milieu de vous comme celui qui sert. ²⁸ Mais vous, vous êtes ceux qui avez persévéré avec moi dans mes tentations*. ²⁹ Et moi, je vous confère un royaume comme mon Père m'en a conféré un, ³⁰ afin que vous mangiez et que vous buviez à ma table dans mon royaume ; et que vous soyez assis sur des trônes, jugeant les douze tribus d'Israël. ³¹ Et le Seigneur dit : Simon, Simon, voici, Satan a demandé à vous avoir pour vous cribler comme le blé ; ³² mais moi, j'ai prié pour toi, afin que ta foi ne défaille pas ; et toi, quand une fois tu seras revenu, fortifie tes frères. ³³ - Et il lui dit : Seigneur, avec toi, je suis prêt à aller et en prison et à la mort. ³⁴ - Et il dit : Pierre, je te dis : le coq ne chantera point aujourd'hui, que premièrement tu n'aies nié trois fois de me connaître. ³⁵ Et il leur dit : Quand je vous ai envoyés sans bourse, sans sac et sans sandales, avez-vous manqué de quelque chose ? Et ils dirent : De rien. ³⁶ Il leur dit donc : Mais maintenant, que celui qui a une bourse la prenne, et de même [celui qui a] un sac, et que celui qui n'a pas [d'épée] vende son vêtement et achète une épée. ³⁷ Car je vous dis, qu'il faut encore que ceci qui est écrit, soit accompli en moi : «Et il a été compté parmi les iniques» {Ésaïe 53:12}. Car aussi les choses qui me concernent vont avoir leur fin. ³⁸ Et ils dirent : Seigneur, voici ici deux épées. Et il leur dit : C'est assez.
   ³⁹ Et sortant, il s'en alla, selon sa coutume, à la montagne des Oliviers, et les disciples aussi le suivirent. ⁴⁰ Et quand il fut en ce lieu-là, il leur dit : Priez que vous n'entriez pas en tentation. ⁴¹ Et il s'éloigna d'eux lui-même environ d'un jet de pierre, et s'étant mis à genoux, il priait, ⁴² disant : Père, si tu voulais faire passer cette coupe loin de moi ! Toutefois, que ce ne soit pas ma volonté mais la tienne qui soit faite. ⁴³ Et un ange du ciel lui apparut, le fortifiant. ⁴⁴ Et étant dans [l'angoisse du] combat, il priait plus instamment ; et sa sueur devint comme des grumeaux de sang découlant sur la terre. ⁴⁵ Et s'étant levé de sa* prière, il vint vers les disciples, qu'il trouva endormis de tristesse ; ⁴⁶ et il leur dit : Pourquoi dormez-vous ? Levez-vous, et priez afin que vous n'entriez pas en tentation.
   ⁴⁷ Comme il parlait encore, voici une foule, et celui qui avait nom Judas, l'un des douze, les précédait ; et il s'approcha de Jésus, pour le baiser. ⁴⁸ Et Jésus lui dit : Judas, tu livres le fils de l'homme par un baiser ? ⁴⁹ Et ceux qui étaient autour de lui, voyant ce qui allait arriver, lui dirent : Seigneur, frapperons-nous de l'épée ? ⁵⁰ Et l'un d'entre eux frappa l'esclave du souverain sacrificateur et lui emporta l'oreille droite. ⁵¹ Mais Jésus, répondant, dit : Laissez [faire] jusqu'ici ; et lui ayant touché l'oreille, il le guérit. ⁵² Et Jésus dit aux principaux sacrificateurs et aux capitaines du temple et aux anciens qui étaient venus contre lui : Êtes-vous sortis comme contre un brigand avec des épées et des bâtons ? ⁵³ Lorsque j'étais tous les jours avec vous, dans le temple, vous n'avez pas étendu vos mains contre moi ; mais c'est ici votre heure, et le pouvoir des ténèbres.
   ⁵⁴ Et se saisissant de lui, ils l'emmenèrent, et le conduisirent dans la maison du souverain sacrificateur.    ¹ And it came to pass, that on one of those days, as he taught the people in the temple, and preached the gospel, the chief priests and the scribes came upon him with the elders, ² And spake unto him, saying, Tell us, by what authority doest thou these things? or who is he that gave thee this authority? ³ And he answered and said unto them, I will also ask you one thing; and answer me: ⁴ The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men? ⁵ And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then believed ye him not? ⁶ But and if we say, Of men; all the people will stone us: for they be persuaded that John was a prophet. ⁷ And they answered, that they could not tell whence it was. ⁸ And Jesus said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.

   ³⁹ Then certain of the scribes answering said, Master, thou hast well said. ⁴⁰ And after that they durst not ask him any question at all. ⁴¹ And he said unto them, How say they that Christ is David's son? ⁴² And David himself saith in the book of Psalms, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, ⁴³ Till I make thine enemies thy footstool. ⁴⁴ David therefore calleth him Lord, how is he then his son? ⁴⁵ Then in the audience of all the people he said unto his disciples, ⁴⁶ Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts; ⁴⁷ Which devour widows' houses, and for a shew make long prayers: the same shall receive greater damnation.

   ¹ And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury. ² And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites. ³ And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all: ⁴ For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.

   ¹ Now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh, which is called the Passover. ² And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people. ³ Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve. ⁴ And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him unto them. ⁵ And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money. ⁶ And he promised, and sought opportunity to betray him unto them in the absence of the multitude.

   ¹ καὶ εἰσελθὼν διήρχετο τὴν ἰεριχώ ² καὶ ἰδού, ἀνὴρ ὀνόματι καλούμενος ξακχαῖος καὶ αὐτὸς ἦν ἀρχιτελώνης καὶ οὗτος ἦν πλούσιος ³ καὶ ἐζήτει ἰδεῖν τὸν ἰησοῦν τίς ἐστιν καὶ οὐκ ἠδύνατο ἀπὸ τοῦ ὄχλου ὅτι τῇ ἡλικίᾳ μικρὸς ἦν ⁴ καὶ προδραμὼν ἔμπροσθεν ἀνέβη ἐπὶ συκομωραίαν, ἵνα ἴδῃ αὐτόν ὅτι δι᾽ ἐκείνης ἤμελλεν διέρχεσθαι ⁵ καὶ ὡς ἦλθεν ἐπὶ τὸν τόπον ἀναβλέψας ὁ ἰησοῦς εἶδεν αὐτόν καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτόν, ξακχαῖε σπεύσας κατάβηθι σήμερον γὰρ ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ σου δεῖ με μεῖναι ⁶ καὶ σπεύσας κατέβη καὶ ὑπεδέξατο αὐτὸν χαίρων ⁷ καὶ ἰδόντες ἅπαντες διεγόγγυζον λέγοντες ὅτι παρὰ ἁμαρτωλῷ ἀνδρὶ εἰσῆλθεν καταλῦσαι ⁸ σταθεὶς δὲ ξακχαῖος εἶπεν πρὸς τὸν κύριον ἰδού, τὰ ἡμίση τῶν ὑπαρχόντων μου κύριε δίδωμι τοῖς πτωχοῖς καὶ εἴ τινός τι ἐσυκοφάντησα ἀποδίδωμι τετραπλοῦν ⁹ εἶπεν δὲ πρὸς αὐτὸν ὁ ἰησοῦς ὅτι σήμερον σωτηρία τῷ οἴκῳ τούτῳ ἐγένετο καθότι καὶ αὐτὸς υἱὸς ἀβραάμ ἐστιν ¹⁰ ἦλθεν γὰρ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ζητῆσαι καὶ σῶσαι τὸ ἀπολωλός ¹¹ ἀκουόντων δὲ αὐτῶν ταῦτα προσθεὶς εἶπεν παραβολὴν διὰ τὸ ἐγγὺς αὐτὸν εἶναι ἰερουσαλὴμ καὶ δοκεῖν αὐτοὺς ὅτι παραχρῆμα μέλλει ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ θεοῦ ἀναφαίνεσθαι ¹² εἶπεν οὖν ἄνθρωπός τις εὐγενὴς ἐπορεύθη εἰς χώραν μακρὰν λαβεῖν ἑαυτῷ βασιλείαν καὶ ὑποστρέψαι ¹³ καλέσας δὲ δέκα δούλους ἑαυτοῦ ἔδωκεν αὐτοῖς δέκα μνᾶς καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς πραγματεύσασθε ἕως ἔρχομαι ¹⁴ οἱ δὲ πολῖται αὐτοῦ ἐμίσουν αὐτόν καὶ ἀπέστειλαν πρεσβείαν ὀπίσω αὐτοῦ λέγοντες οὐ θέλομεν τοῦτον βασιλεῦσαι ἐφ᾽ ἡμᾶς ¹⁵ καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ ἐπανελθεῖν αὐτὸν λαβόντα τὴν βασιλείαν καὶ εἶπεν φωνηθῆναι αὐτῷ τοὺς δούλους τούτους οἷς ἔδωκεν τὸ ἀργύριον ἵνα γνῷ τίς τί διεπραγματεύσατο ¹⁶ παρεγένετο δὲ ὁ πρῶτος λέγων, κύριε ἡ μνᾶ σου προσειργάσατο δέκα μνᾶς ¹⁷ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ εὖ, ἀγαθὲ δοῦλε ὅτι ἐν ἐλαχίστῳ πιστὸς ἐγένου ἴσθι ἐξουσίαν ἔχων ἐπάνω δέκα πόλεων ¹⁸ καὶ ἦλθεν ὁ δεύτερος λέγων, κύριε ἡ μνᾶ σου ἐποίησεν πέντε μνᾶς ¹⁹ εἶπεν δὲ καὶ τούτῳ καὶ σὺ γίνου ἐπάνω πέντε πόλεων ²⁰ καὶ ἕτερος ἦλθεν λέγων, κύριε ἰδού, ἡ μνᾶ σου ἣν εἶχον ἀποκειμένην ἐν σουδαρίῳ ²¹ ἐφοβούμην γάρ σε ὅτι ἄνθρωπος αὐστηρὸς εἶ αἴρεις ὃ οὐκ ἔθηκας καὶ θερίζεις ὃ οὐκ ἔσπειρας ²² λέγει δὲ αὐτῷ ἐκ τοῦ στόματός σου κρινῶ σε πονηρὲ δοῦλε ᾔδεις ὅτι ἐγὼ ἄνθρωπος αὐστηρός εἰμι αἴρων ὃ οὐκ ἔθηκα καὶ θερίζων ὃ οὐκ ἔσπειρα ²³ καὶ διατί οὐκ ἔδωκάς τὸ ἀργύριον μου ἐπὶ τὴν τράπεζαν καὶ ἐγὼ ἐλθὼν σὺν τόκῳ ἂν ἔπραξα αὐτὸ ²⁴ καὶ τοῖς παρεστῶσιν εἶπεν ἄρατε ἀπ᾽ αὐτοῦ τὴν μνᾶν καὶ δότε τῷ τὰς δέκα μνᾶς ἔχοντι ²⁵ καὶ εἶπον αὐτῷ κύριε ἔχει δέκα μνᾶς ²⁶ λέγω γὰρ ὑμῖν ὅτι παντὶ τῷ ἔχοντι δοθήσεται ἀπὸ δὲ τοῦ μὴ ἔχοντος καὶ ὃ ἔχει ἀρθήσεται ἀπ᾽ αὐτοῦ ²⁷ πλὴν τοὺς ἐχθρούς μου ἐκείνους, τοὺς μὴ θελήσαντάς με βασιλεῦσαι ἐπ᾽ αὐτοὺς ἀγάγετε ὧδε καὶ κατασφάξατε ἔμπροσθέν μου ²⁸ καὶ εἰπὼν ταῦτα ἐπορεύετο ἔμπροσθεν ἀναβαίνων εἰς ἱεροσόλυμα ²⁹ καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς ἤγγισεν εἰς βηθφαγὴ καὶ βηθανίαν πρὸς τὸ ὄρος τὸ καλούμενον ἐλαιῶν ἀπέστειλεν δύο τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ, ³⁰ εἰπὼν, ὑπάγετε εἰς τὴν κατέναντι κώμην ἐν ᾗ εἰσπορευόμενοι εὑρήσετε πῶλον δεδεμένον ἐφ᾽ ὃν οὐδεὶς πώποτε ἀνθρώπων ἐκάθισεν λύσαντες αὐτὸν ἀγάγετε ³¹ καὶ ἐάν τις ὑμᾶς ἐρωτᾷ διατί λύετε οὕτως ἐρεῖτε αὐτῷ, ὅτι ὁ κύριος αὐτοῦ χρείαν ἔχει ³² ἀπελθόντες δὲ οἱ ἀπεσταλμένοι εὗρον καθὼς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς ³³ λυόντων δὲ αὐτῶν τὸν πῶλον εἶπον οἱ κύριοι αὐτοῦ πρὸς αὐτούς τί λύετε τὸν πῶλον ³⁴ οἱ δὲ εἶπον ὁ κύριος αὐτοῦ χρείαν ἔχει ³⁵ καὶ ἤγαγον αὐτὸν πρὸς τὸν ἰησοῦν καὶ ἐπιῤῥίψαντες ἑαυτῶν τὰ ἱμάτια ἐπὶ τὸν πῶλον ἐπεβίβασαν τὸν ἰησοῦν ³⁶ πορευομένου δὲ αὐτοῦ ὑπεστρώννυον τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτῶν ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ ³⁷ ἐγγίζοντος δὲ αὐτοῦ ἤδη πρὸς τῇ καταβάσει τοῦ ὄρους τῶν ἐλαιῶν ἤρξαντο ἅπαν τὸ πλῆθος τῶν μαθητῶν χαίροντες αἰνεῖν τὸν θεὸν φωνῇ μεγάλῃ περὶ πασῶν ὧν εἶδον δυνάμεων ³⁸ λέγοντες εὐλογημένος ὁ ἐρχόμενος βασιλεὺς ἐν ὀνόματι κυρίου εἰρήνη ἐν οὐρανῷ καὶ δόξα ἐν ὑψίστοις ³⁹ καί τινες τῶν φαρισαίων ἀπὸ τοῦ ὄχλου εἶπον πρὸς αὐτόν διδάσκαλε ἐπιτίμησον τοῖς μαθηταῖς σου ⁴⁰ καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι, ἐὰν οὗτοι σιωπήσωσιν, οἱ λίθοι κεκράξονται ⁴¹ καὶ ὡς ἤγγισεν ἰδὼν τὴν πόλιν ἔκλαυσεν ἐπ᾽ αὐτή, ⁴² λέγων ὅτι εἰ ἔγνως καὶ σὺ καὶ γε ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ σου ταύτῃ τὰ πρὸς εἰρήνην σου νῦν δὲ ἐκρύβη ἀπὸ ὀφθαλμῶν σου ⁴³ ὅτι ἥξουσιν ἡμέραι ἐπὶ σὲ καὶ περιβαλοῦσιν οἱ ἐχθροί σου χάρακά σοι καὶ περικυκλώσουσίν σε καὶ συνέξουσίν σε πάντοθεν ⁴⁴ καὶ ἐδαφιοῦσίν σε καὶ τὰ τέκνα σου ἐν σοί καὶ οὐκ ἀφήσουσιν ἐν σοί λίθον ἐπὶ λίθῳ ἀνθ ὧν οὐκ ἔγνως τὸν καιρὸν τῆς ἐπισκοπῆς σου ⁴⁵ καὶ εἰσελθὼν εἰς τὸ ἱερὸν ἤρξατο ἐκβάλλειν τοὺς πωλοῦντας ἐν αὐτῷ καὶ ἀγοράζοντας, ⁴⁶ λέγων αὐτοῖς, γέγραπται ὁ οἰκός μου οἰκος προσευχῆς ἐστίν, ὑμεῖς δὲ αὐτὸν ἐποιήσατε σπήλαιον λῃστῶν ⁴⁷ καὶ ἦν διδάσκων τὸ καθ᾽ ἡμέραν ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ οἱ δὲ ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ οἱ γραμματεῖς ἐζήτουν αὐτὸν ἀπολέσαι καὶ οἱ πρῶτοι τοῦ λαοῦ ⁴⁸ καὶ οὐχ εὕρισκον τὸ τί ποιήσωσιν ὁ λαὸς γὰρ ἅπας ἐξεκρέματο αὐτοῦ ἀκούων

   ¹ καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν μιᾷ τῶν ἡμερῶν ἐκείνων, διδάσκοντος αὐτοῦ τὸν λαὸν ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ καὶ εὐαγγελιζομένου ἐπέστησαν οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ οἱ γραμματεῖς σὺν τοῖς πρεσβυτέροις ² καὶ εἰπὸν πρὸς αὐτόν λέγοντες εἰπε ἡμῖν ἐν ποίᾳ ἐξουσίᾳ ταῦτα ποιεῖς ἢ τίς ἐστιν ὁ δούς σοι τὴν ἐξουσίαν ταύτην ³ ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς ἐρωτήσω ὑμᾶς κἀγὼ ἕνα λόγον καὶ εἴπατέ μοι ⁴ τὸ βάπτισμα ἰωάννου ἐξ οὐρανοῦ ἦν ἢ ἐξ ἀνθρώπων ⁵ οἱ δὲ συνελογίσαντο πρὸς ἑαυτοὺς λέγοντες ὅτι ἐὰν εἴπωμεν ἐξ οὐρανοῦ ἐρεῖ διατί οὖν οὐκ ἐπιστεύσατε αὐτῷ ⁶ ἐὰν δὲ εἴπωμεν ἐξ ἀνθρώπων πᾶς ὁ λαὸς καταλιθάσει ἡμᾶς πεπεισμένος γάρ ἐστιν ἰωάννην προφήτην εἶναι ⁷ καὶ ἀπεκρίθησαν μὴ εἰδέναι πόθεν ⁸ καὶ ὁ ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς οὐδὲ ἐγὼ λέγω ὑμῖν ἐν ποίᾳ ἐξουσίᾳ ταῦτα ποιῶ ⁹ ἤρξατο δὲ πρὸς τὸν λαὸν λέγειν τὴν παραβολὴν ταύτην ἄνθρωπός τις ἐφύτευσεν ἀμπελῶνα καὶ ἐξέδοτο αὐτὸν γεωργοῖς καὶ ἀπεδήμησεν χρόνους ἱκανούς ¹⁰ καὶ ἐν καιρῷ ἀπέστειλεν πρὸς τοὺς γεωργοὺς δοῦλον ἵνα ἀπὸ τοῦ καρποῦ τοῦ ἀμπελῶνος δῶσιν αὐτῷ οἱ δὲ γεωργοὶ δείραντες αὐτὸν ἐξαπέστειλαν κενόν ¹¹ καὶ προσέθετο πέμψαι ἕτερον δοῦλον οἱ δὲ κἀκεῖνον δείραντες καὶ ἀτιμάσαντες ἐξαπέστειλαν κενόν ¹² καὶ προσέθετο πέμψαι τρίτον οἱ δὲ καὶ τοῦτον τραυματίσαντες ἐξέβαλον ¹³ εἶπεν δὲ ὁ κύριος τοῦ ἀμπελῶνος τί ποιήσω πέμψω τὸν υἱόν μου τὸν ἀγαπητόν ἴσως τοῦτον ἰδόντες ἐντραπήσονται ¹⁴ ἰδόντες δὲ αὐτὸν οἱ γεωργοὶ διελογίζοντο πρὸς ἑαυτοὺς, λέγοντες οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ κληρονόμος δεῦτε ἀποκτείνωμεν αὐτόν ἵνα ἡμῶν γένηται ἡ κληρονομία ¹⁵ καὶ ἐκβαλόντες αὐτὸν ἔξω τοῦ ἀμπελῶνος ἀπέκτειναν τί οὖν ποιήσει αὐτοῖς ὁ κύριος τοῦ ἀμπελῶνος ¹⁶ ἐλεύσεται καὶ ἀπολέσει τοὺς γεωργοὺς τούτους καὶ δώσει τὸν ἀμπελῶνα ἄλλοις ἀκούσαντες δὲ εἶπον, μὴ γένοιτο ¹⁷ ὁ δὲ ἐμβλέψας αὐτοῖς εἶπεν τί οὖν ἐστιν τὸ γεγραμμένον τοῦτο λίθον ὃν ἀπεδοκίμασαν οἱ οἰκοδομοῦντες οὗτος ἐγενήθη εἰς κεφαλὴν γωνίας ¹⁸ πᾶς ὁ πεσὼν ἐπ᾽ ἐκεῖνον τὸν λίθον συνθλασθήσεται ἐφ᾽ ὃν δ᾽ ἂν πέσῃ λικμήσει αὐτόν ¹⁹ καὶ ἐζήτησαν οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ οἱ γραμματεῖς ἐπιβαλεῖν ἐπ᾽ αὐτὸν τὰς χεῖρας ἐν αὐτῇ τῇ ὥρᾳ καὶ ἐφοβήθησαν τὸν λαόν ἔγνωσαν γὰρ ὅτι πρὸς αὐτοὺς τὴν παραβολὴν ταύτην εἶπεν ²⁰ καὶ παρατηρήσαντες ἀπέστειλαν ἐγκαθέτους ὑποκρινομένους ἑαυτοὺς δικαίους εἶναι ἵνα ἐπιλάβωνται αὐτοῦ λόγου εἰς τὸ παραδοῦναι αὐτὸν τῇ ἀρχῇ καὶ τῇ ἐξουσίᾳ τοῦ ἡγεμόνος ²¹ καὶ ἐπηρώτησαν αὐτὸν λέγοντες διδάσκαλε οἴδαμεν ὅτι ὀρθῶς λέγεις καὶ διδάσκεις καὶ οὐ λαμβάνεις πρόσωπον ἀλλ᾽ ἐπ᾽ ἀληθείας τὴν ὁδὸν τοῦ θεοῦ διδάσκεις ²² ἔξεστιν ἡμῖν καίσαρι φόρον δοῦναι ἢ οὔ ²³ κατανοήσας δὲ αὐτῶν τὴν πανουργίαν εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς τί μέ πειράζετε ²⁴ ἐπιδείξατέ μοι δηνάριον τίνος ἔχει εἰκόνα καὶ ἐπιγραφήν ἀποκριθέντες δὲ εἶπον, καίσαρος ²⁵ ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, ἀπόδοτε τοίνυν τὰ καίσαρος καίσαρι καὶ τὰ τοῦ θεοῦ τῷ θεῷ ²⁶ καὶ οὐκ ἴσχυσαν ἐπιλαβέσθαι αὐτοῦ ῥήματος ἐναντίον τοῦ λαοῦ καὶ θαυμάσαντες ἐπὶ τῇ ἀποκρίσει αὐτοῦ ἐσίγησαν ²⁷ προσελθόντες δέ τινες τῶν σαδδουκαίων οἱ ἀντιλέγοντες ἀνάστασιν μὴ εἶναι ἐπηρώτησαν αὐτὸν ²⁸ λέγοντες διδάσκαλε μωσῆς ἔγραψεν ἡμῖν ἐάν τινος ἀδελφὸς ἀποθάνῃ ἔχων γυναῖκα καὶ οὗτος ἄτεκνος ἀποθάνῃ ἵνα λάβῃ ὁ ἀδελφὸς αὐτοῦ τὴν γυναῖκα καὶ ἐξαναστήσῃ σπέρμα τῷ ἀδελφῷ αὐτοῦ ²⁹ ἑπτὰ οὖν ἀδελφοὶ ἦσαν καὶ ὁ πρῶτος λαβὼν γυναῖκα ἀπέθανεν ἄτεκνος ³⁰ καὶ ἔλαβεν ὁ δεύτερος τὴν γυναῖκα, καὶ οὑτὸς απέθανεν ἄτεκνος ³¹ καὶ ὁ τρίτος ἔλαβεν αὐτήν ὡσαύτως δὲ καὶ οἱ ἑπτὰ οὐ κατέλιπον τέκνα καὶ ἀπέθανον ³² ὕστερον δὲ πάντων ἀπέθανεν καὶ ἡ γυνὴ ³³ ἐν τῇ οὖν ἀναστάσει τίνος αὐτῶν γίνεται γυνὴ οἱ γὰρ ἑπτὰ ἔσχον αὐτὴν γυναῖκα ³⁴ καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς ὁ ἰησοῦς οἱ υἱοὶ τοῦ αἰῶνος τούτου γαμοῦσιν καὶ ἐκγαμίσκονται, ³⁵ οἱ δὲ καταξιωθέντες τοῦ αἰῶνος ἐκείνου τυχεῖν καὶ τῆς ἀναστάσεως τῆς ἐκ νεκρῶν οὔτε γαμοῦσιν οὔτε ἐκγαμίσκονται ³⁶ οὔτε γὰρ ἀποθανεῖν ἔτι δύνανται ἰσάγγελοι γάρ εἰσιν καὶ υἱοί εἰσιν τοῦ θεοῦ τῆς ἀναστάσεως υἱοὶ ὄντες ³⁷ ὅτι δὲ ἐγείρονται οἱ νεκροὶ καὶ μωσῆς ἐμήνυσεν ἐπὶ τῆς βάτου ὡς λέγει κύριον τὸν θεὸν ἀβραὰμ καὶ τὸν θεὸν ἰσαὰκ καὶ τόν θεὸν ἰακώβ ³⁸ θεὸς δὲ οὐκ ἔστιν νεκρῶν ἀλλὰ ζώντων πάντες γὰρ αὐτῷ ζῶσιν ³⁹ ἀποκριθέντες δέ τινες τῶν γραμματέων εἶπον, διδάσκαλε καλῶς εἶπας ⁴⁰ οὐκέτι δὲ ἐτόλμων ἐπερωτᾶν αὐτὸν οὐδέν ⁴¹ εἶπεν δὲ πρὸς αὐτούς πῶς λέγουσιν τὸν χριστὸν υἱόν δαβὶδ εἶναι ⁴² καὶ αὐτὸς δαβὶδ λέγει ἐν βίβλῳ ψαλμῶν εἶπεν ὁ κύριος τῷ κυρίῳ μου κάθου ἐκ δεξιῶν μου ⁴³ ἕως ἂν θῶ τοὺς ἐχθρούς σου ὑποπόδιον τῶν ποδῶν σου ⁴⁴ δαβὶδ οὖν κύριον αὐτὸν καλεῖ καὶ πῶς υἱός αὐτοῦ ἐστιν ⁴⁵ ἀκούοντος δὲ παντὸς τοῦ λαοῦ εἶπεν τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ ⁴⁶ προσέχετε ἀπὸ τῶν γραμματέων τῶν θελόντων περιπατεῖν ἐν στολαῖς καὶ φιλούντων ἀσπασμοὺς ἐν ταῖς ἀγοραῖς καὶ πρωτοκαθεδρίας ἐν ταῖς συναγωγαῖς καὶ πρωτοκλισίας ἐν τοῖς δείπνοις ⁴⁷ οἳ κατεσθίουσιν τὰς οἰκίας τῶν χηρῶν καὶ προφάσει μακρὰ προσεύχονται οὗτοι λήψονται περισσότερον κρίμα

   ¹ ἀναβλέψας δὲ εἶδεν τοὺς βάλλοντας τὰ δῶρα αὐτῶν εἰς τὸ γαζοφυλάκιον πλουσίους ² εἶδεν δέ καὶ τινα χήραν πενιχρὰν βάλλουσαν ἐκεῖ δύο λεπτὰ ³ καὶ εἶπεν ἀληθῶς λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι ἡ χήρα ἡ πτωχὴ αὕτη πλεῖον πάντων ἔβαλεν ⁴ ἅπαντες γὰρ οὗτοι ἐκ τοῦ περισσεύοντος αὐτοῖς ἔβαλον εἰς τὰ δῶρα τοῦ φεοῦ, αὕτη δὲ ἐκ τοῦ ὑστερήματος αὐτῆς ἅπαντα τὸν βίον ὃν εἶχεν ἔβαλεν ⁵ καί τινων λεγόντων περὶ τοῦ ἱεροῦ ὅτι λίθοις καλοῖς καὶ ἀναθήμασιν κεκόσμηται εἶπεν ⁶ ταῦτα ἃ θεωρεῖτε ἐλεύσονται ἡμέραι ἐν αἷς οὐκ ἀφεθήσεται λίθος ἐπὶ λίθῳ ὃς οὐ καταλυθήσεται ⁷ ἐπηρώτησαν δὲ αὐτὸν λέγοντες διδάσκαλε πότε οὖν ταῦτα ἔσται καὶ τί τὸ σημεῖον ὅταν μέλλῃ ταῦτα γίνεσθαι ⁸ ὁ δὲ εἶπεν βλέπετε μὴ πλανηθῆτε πολλοὶ γὰρ ἐλεύσονται ἐπὶ τῷ ὀνόματί μου λέγοντες ὃτι ἐγώ εἰμι καί ὁ καιρὸς ἤγγικεν μὴ οὖν πορευθῆτε ὀπίσω αὐτῶν ⁹ ὅταν δὲ ἀκούσητε πολέμους καὶ ἀκαταστασίας μὴ πτοηθῆτε δεῖ γὰρ ταῦτα γενέσθαι πρῶτον ἀλλ᾽ οὐκ εὐθέως τὸ τέλος ¹⁰ τότε ἔλεγεν αὐτοῖς ἐγερθήσεται ἔθνος ἐπὶ ἔθνος καὶ βασιλεία ἐπὶ βασιλείαν ¹¹ σεισμοί τε μεγάλοι κατὰ τόπους καὶ λιμοὶ καὶ λοιμοὶ ἔσονται φόβητρά τε καὶ σημεῖα ἀπ᾽ οὐρανοῦ μεγάλα ἔσται ¹² πρὸ δὲ τούτων ἅπαντων ἐπιβαλοῦσιν ἐφ᾽ ὑμᾶς τὰς χεῖρας αὐτῶν καὶ διώξουσιν παραδιδόντες εἰς συναγωγὰς καὶ φυλακάς ἀγομένους ἐπὶ βασιλεῖς καὶ ἡγεμόνας ἕνεκεν τοῦ ὀνόματός μου ¹³ ἀποβήσεται δὲ ὑμῖν εἰς μαρτύριον ¹⁴ θέσθε οὖν εἴς τὰς καρδίας ὑμῶν μὴ προμελετᾶν ἀπολογηθῆναι ¹⁵ ἐγὼ γὰρ δώσω ὑμῖν στόμα καὶ σοφίαν ᾗ οὐ δυνήσονται ἀντειπεῖν οὐδὲ ἀντιστῆναι πάντες οἱ ἀντικείμενοι ὑμῖν ¹⁶ παραδοθήσεσθε δὲ καὶ ὑπὸ γονέων καὶ ἀδελφῶν καὶ συγγενῶν καὶ φίλων καὶ θανατώσουσιν ἐξ ὑμῶν ¹⁷ καὶ ἔσεσθε μισούμενοι ὑπὸ πάντων διὰ τὸ ὄνομά μου ¹⁸ καὶ θρὶξ ἐκ τῆς κεφαλῆς ὑμῶν οὐ μὴ ἀπόληται ¹⁹ ἐν τῇ ὑπομονῇ ὑμῶν κτήσασθε τὰς ψυχὰς ὑμῶν ²⁰ ὅταν δὲ ἴδητε κυκλουμένην ὑπὸ στρατοπέδων τήν ἰερουσαλήμ τότε γνῶτε ὅτι ἤγγικεν ἡ ἐρήμωσις αὐτῆς ²¹ τότε οἱ ἐν τῇ ἰουδαίᾳ φευγέτωσαν εἰς τὰ ὄρη καὶ οἱ ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῆς ἐκχωρείτωσαν καὶ οἱ ἐν ταῖς χώραις μὴ εἰσερχέσθωσαν εἰς αὐτήν ²² ὅτι ἡμέραι ἐκδικήσεως αὗταί εἰσιν τοῦ πληρωθῆναι πάντα τὰ γεγραμμένα ²³ οὐαὶ δὲ ταῖς ἐν γαστρὶ ἐχούσαις καὶ ταῖς θηλαζούσαις ἐν ἐκείναις ταῖς ἡμέραις ἔσται γὰρ ἀνάγκη μεγάλη ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς καὶ ὀργὴ ἐν τῷ λαῷ τούτῳ ²⁴ καὶ πεσοῦνται στόματι μαχαίρας καὶ αἰχμαλωτισθήσονται εἰς πάντα τὰ ἔθνη καὶ ἰερουσαλὴμ ἔσται πατουμένη ὑπὸ ἐθνῶν ἄχρι πληρωθῶσιν καιροὶ ἐθνῶν ²⁵ καὶ ἔσται σημεῖα ἐν ἡλίῳ καὶ σελήνῃ καὶ ἄστροις καὶ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς συνοχὴ ἐθνῶν ἐν ἀπορίᾳ ἠχούσης θαλάσσης καὶ σάλου ²⁶ ἀποψυχόντων ἀνθρώπων ἀπὸ φόβου καὶ προσδοκίας τῶν ἐπερχομένων τῇ οἰκουμένῃ αἱ γὰρ δυνάμεις τῶν οὐρανῶν σαλευθήσονται ²⁷ καὶ τότε ὄψονται τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἐρχόμενον ἐν νεφέλῃ μετὰ δυνάμεως καὶ δόξης πολλῆς ²⁸ ἀρχομένων δὲ τούτων γίνεσθαι ἀνακύψατε καὶ ἐπάρατε τὰς κεφαλὰς ὑμῶν διότι ἐγγίζει ἡ ἀπολύτρωσις ὑμῶν ²⁹ καὶ εἶπεν παραβολὴν αὐτοῖς Ἴδετε τὴν συκῆν καὶ πάντα τὰ δένδρα ³⁰ ὅταν προβάλωσιν ἤδη βλέποντες ἀφ᾽ ἑαυτῶν γινώσκετε ὅτι ἤδη ἐγγὺς τὸ θέρος ἐστίν ³¹ οὕτως καὶ ὑμεῖς ὅταν ἴδητε ταῦτα γινόμενα γινώσκετε ὅτι ἐγγύς ἐστιν ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ θεοῦ ³² ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι οὐ μὴ παρέλθῃ ἡ γενεὰ αὕτη ἕως ἂν πάντα γένηται ³³ ὁ οὐρανὸς καὶ ἡ γῆ παρελεύσονται οἱ δὲ λόγοι μου οὐ μὴ παρέλθωσιν ³⁴ προσέχετε δὲ ἑαυτοῖς μήποτε βαρυνθῶσιν ὑμῶν αἱ καρδίαι ἐν κραιπάλῃ καὶ μέθῃ καὶ μερίμναις βιωτικαῖς καὶ αἰφνίδιος ἐφ᾽ ὑμᾶς ἐπιστῇ ἡ ἡμέρα ἐκείνη ³⁵ ὡς παγίς γὰρ ἐπελεύσεται ἐπὶ πάντας τοὺς καθημένους ἐπὶ πρόσωπον πάσης τῆς γῆς ³⁶ ἀγρυπνεῖτε οὖν ἐν παντὶ καιρῷ δεόμενοι ἵνα καταξιωθῆτε ἐκφυγεῖν ταῦτα πάντα τὰ μέλλοντα γίνεσθαι καὶ σταθῆναι ἔμπροσθεν τοῦ υἱοῦ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ³⁷ ἦν δὲ τὰς ἡμέρας ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ διδάσκων τὰς δὲ νύκτας ἐξερχόμενος ηὐλίζετο εἰς τὸ ὄρος τὸ καλούμενον ἐλαιῶν ³⁸ καὶ πᾶς ὁ λαὸς ὤρθριζεν πρὸς αὐτὸν ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ ἀκούειν αὐτοῦ

   ¹ ἤγγιζεν δὲ ἡ ἑορτὴ τῶν ἀζύμων ἡ λεγομένη πάσχα ² καὶ ἐζήτουν οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ οἱ γραμματεῖς τὸ πῶς ἀνέλωσιν αὐτόν ἐφοβοῦντο γὰρ τὸν λαόν ³ εἰσῆλθεν δὲ ὁ σατανᾶς εἰς ἰούδαν τὸν ἐπικαλούμενον ἰσκαριώτην ὄντα ἐκ τοῦ ἀριθμοῦ τῶν δώδεκα ⁴ καὶ ἀπελθὼν συνελάλησεν τοῖς ἀρχιερεῦσιν καὶ τοῖς στρατηγοῖς τὸ πῶς αὐτόν παραδῷ αὐτοῖς ⁵ καὶ ἐχάρησαν καὶ συνέθεντο αὐτῷ ἀργύριον δοῦναι ⁶ καὶ ἐξωμολόγησεν εἰσπορεύεται ¹¹ καὶ ἐρεῖτε τῷ οἰκοδεσπότῃ τῆς οἰκίας λέγει σοι ὁ διδάσκαλος ποῦ ἐστιν τὸ κατάλυμα ὅπου τὸ πάσχα μετὰ τῶν μαθητῶν μου φάγω ¹² κἀκεῖνος ὑμῖν δείξει ἀνώγεον μέγα ἐστρωμένον ἐκεῖ ἑτοιμάσατε ¹³ ἀπελθόντες δὲ εὗρον καθὼς εἰρήκεν αὐτοῖς καὶ ἡτοίμασαν τὸ πάσχα ¹⁴ καὶ ὅτε ἐγένετο ἡ ὥρα ἀνέπεσεν καὶ οἱ δώδεκα ἀπόστολοι σὺν αὐτῷ ¹⁵ καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς ἐπιθυμίᾳ ἐπεθύμησα τοῦτο τὸ πάσχα φαγεῖν μεθ᾽ ὑμῶν πρὸ τοῦ με παθεῖν ¹⁶ λέγω γὰρ ὑμῖν ὅτι οὐκέτι οὐ μὴ φάγω ἐξ αὐτοῦ, ἕως ὅτου πληρωθῇ ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ τοῦ θεοῦ ¹⁷ καὶ δεξάμενος ποτήριον εὐχαριστήσας εἶπεν λάβετε τοῦτο καὶ διαμερίσατε ἑαυτοῖς ¹⁸ λέγω γὰρ ὑμῖν ὅτι οὐ μὴ πίω ἀπὸ τοῦ γεννήματος τῆς ἀμπέλου ἕως ὅτου ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ θεοῦ ἔλθῃ ¹⁹ καὶ λαβὼν ἄρτον εὐχαριστήσας ἔκλασεν καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτοῖς λέγων, τοῦτό ἐστιν τὸ σῶμά μου τὸ ὑπὲρ ὑμῶν διδόμενον τοῦτο ποιεῖτε εἰς τὴν ἐμὴν ἀνάμνησιν ²⁰ ὡσαύτως καὶ τὸ ποτήριον μετὰ τὸ δειπνῆσαι λέγων, τοῦτο τὸ ποτήριον ἡ καινὴ διαθήκη ἐν τῷ αἵματί μου τὸ ὑπὲρ ὑμῶν ἐκχυνόμενον ²¹ πλὴν ἰδού, ἡ χεὶρ τοῦ παραδιδόντος με μετ᾽ ἐμοῦ ἐπὶ τῆς τραπέζης ²² καὶ ὁ μὲν υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου πορεύεται κατὰ τὸ ὡρισμένον πλὴν οὐαὶ τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ ἐκείνῳ δι᾽ οὗ παραδίδοται ²³ καὶ αὐτοὶ ἤρξαντο συζητεῖν πρὸς ἑαυτοὺς τὸ τίς ἄρα εἴη ἐξ αὐτῶν ὁ τοῦτο μέλλων πράσσειν ²⁴ ἐγένετο δὲ καὶ φιλονεικία ἐν αὐτοῖς τὸ τίς αὐτῶν δοκεῖ εἶναι μείζων ²⁵ ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς οἱ βασιλεῖς τῶν ἐθνῶν κυριεύουσιν αὐτῶν καὶ οἱ ἐξουσιάζοντες αὐτῶν εὐεργέται καλοῦνται ²⁶ ὑμεῖς δὲ οὐχ οὕτως ἀλλ᾽ ὁ μείζων ἐν ὑμῖν γενέσθω ὡς ὁ νεώτερος καὶ ὁ ἡγούμενος ὡς ὁ διακονῶν ²⁷ τίς γὰρ μείζων ὁ ἀνακείμενος ἢ ὁ διακονῶν οὐχὶ ὁ ἀνακείμενος ἐγὼ δὲ εἰμι ἐν μέσῳ ὑμῶν ὡς ὁ διακονῶν ²⁸ ὑμεῖς δέ ἐστε οἱ διαμεμενηκότες μετ᾽ ἐμοῦ ἐν τοῖς πειρασμοῖς μου ²⁹ κἀγὼ διατίθεμαι ὑμῖν καθὼς διέθετό μοι ὁ πατήρ μου βασιλείαν ³⁰ ἵνα ἐσθίητε καὶ πίνητε ἐπὶ τῆς τραπέζης μου ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ μου καὶ καθίσησθε ἐπὶ θρόνων κρίνοντες τὰς δώδεκα φυλὰς τοῦ ἰσραήλ ³¹ εἶπεν δὲ ὁ κύριος, σίμων σίμων ἰδού, ὁ σατανᾶς ἐξῃτήσατο ὑμᾶς τοῦ σινιάσαι ὡς τὸν σῖτον ³² ἐγὼ δὲ ἐδεήθην περὶ σοῦ ἵνα μὴ ἐκλείπῃ ἡ πίστις σου καὶ σύ ποτε ἐπιστρέψας στήριξον τοὺς ἀδελφούς σου ³³ ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτῷ κύριε μετὰ σοῦ ἕτοιμός εἰμι καὶ εἰς φυλακὴν καὶ εἰς θάνατον πορεύεσθαι ³⁴ ὁ δὲ εἶπεν λέγω σοι πέτρε οὐ μή φωνήσει σήμερον ἀλέκτωρ πρὶν ἢ τρίς ἀπαρνήσῃ μή εἰδέναι με ³⁵ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς ὅτε ἀπέστειλα ὑμᾶς ἄτερ βαλαντίου καὶ πήρας καὶ ὑποδημάτων μή τινος ὑστερήσατε οἱ δὲ εἶπον, οὐδενός ³⁶ εἶπεν οὖν αὐτοῖς ἀλλὰ νῦν ὁ ἔχων βαλάντιον ἀράτω ὁμοίως καὶ πήραν καὶ ὁ μὴ ἔχων πωλησάτω τὸ ἱμάτιον αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀγορασάτω μάχαιραν ³⁷ λέγω γὰρ ὑμῖν ὅτι ἔτι τοῦτο τὸ γεγραμμένον δεῖ τελεσθῆναι ἐν ἐμοί ἠκολούθησαν δὲ αὐτῷ καὶ οἱ μαθηταί αὐτοῦ ⁴⁰ γενόμενος δὲ ἐπὶ τοῦ τόπου εἶπεν αὐτοῖς προσεύχεσθε μὴ εἰσελθεῖν εἰς πειρασμόν ⁴¹ καὶ αὐτὸς ἀπεσπάσθη ἀπ᾽ αὐτῶν ὡσεὶ λίθου βολήν καὶ θεὶς τὰ γόνατα προσηύχετο ⁴² λέγων, πάτερ εἰ βούλει παρενεγκεῖν τὸ ποτήριον τοῦτο ἀπ᾽ ἐμοῦ πλὴν μὴ τὸ θέλημά μου ἀλλὰ τὸ σὸν γενέσθω ⁴³ ὤφθη δὲ αὐτῷ ἄγγελος ἀπ᾽ οὐρανοῦ ἐνισχύων αὐτόν ⁴⁴ καὶ γενόμενος ἐν ἀγωνίᾳ ἐκτενέστερον προσηύχετο ἐγένετο δὲ ὁ ἱδρὼς αὐτοῦ ὡσεὶ θρόμβοι αἵματος καταβαίνοντες ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν ⁴⁵ καὶ ἀναστὰς ἀπὸ τῆς προσευχῆς ἐλθὼν πρὸς τοὺς μαθητὰς εὗρεν αὐτοὺς κοιμωμένους ἀπὸ τῆς λύπης ⁴⁶ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς τί καθεύδετε ἀναστάντες προσεύχεσθε ἵνα μὴ εἰσέλθητε εἰς πειρασμόν ⁴⁷ ἕτι δέ αὐτοῦ λαλοῦντος ἰδού, ὄχλος καὶ ὁ λεγόμενος ἰούδας εἷς τῶν δώδεκα προήρχετο αὐτῶν, καὶ ἤγγισεν τῷ ἰησοῦ φιλῆσαι αὐτόν ⁴⁸ ὁ δὲ ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτῷ ἰούδα φιλήματι τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ ἀνθρώπου παραδίδως ⁴⁹ ἰδόντες δὲ οἱ περὶ αὐτὸν τὸ ἐσόμενον εἶπον αὐτῷ, κύριε εἰ πατάξομεν ἐν μαχαίρᾳ ⁵⁰ καὶ ἐπάταξεν εἷς τις ἐξ αὐτῶν τὸν δοῦλον τοῦ ἀρχιερέως καὶ ἀφεῖλεν αὐτοῦ τὸ οὖς τὸ δεξιόν ⁵¹ ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ ὁ ἰησοῦς εἶπεν ἐᾶτε ἕως τούτου καὶ ἁψάμενος τοῦ ὠτίου αὐτοῦ ἰάσατο αὐτόν ⁵² εἶπεν δὲ ὁ ἰησοῦς πρὸς τοὺς παραγενομένους ἐπ᾽ αὐτὸν ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ στρατηγοὺς τοῦ ἱεροῦ καὶ πρεσβυτέρους ης ἐπὶ λῃστὴν ἐξεληλύθατε μετὰ μαχαιρῶν καὶ ξύλων ⁵³ καθ᾽ ἡμέραν ὄντος μου μεθ᾽ ὑμῶν ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ οὐκ ἐξετείνατε τὰς χεῖρας ἐπ᾽ ἐμέ ἀλλ᾽ αὕτη ὑμῶν ἐστὶν ἡ ὥρα καὶ ἡ ἐξουσία τοῦ σκότους ⁵⁴ συλλαβόντες δὲ αὐτὸν ἤγαγον καὶ εἰσήγαγον αὐτὸν εἰς τὸν οἶκον τοῦ ἀρχιερέως ὁ δὲ πέτρος ἠκολούθει μακρόθεν ⁵⁵ ἀψάντων δὲ πῦρ ἐν μέσῳ τῆς αὐλῆς καὶ συγκαθισάντων αὐτῶν ἐκάθητο ὁ πέτρος ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῶν, ⁵⁶ ἰδοῦσα δὲ αὐτὸν παιδίσκη τις καθήμενον πρὸς τὸ φῶς καὶ ἀτενίσασα αὐτῷ εἶπεν καὶ οὗτος σὺν αὖτῷ ἦν ⁵⁷ ὁ δὲ ἠρνήσατο αὐτόν λέγων, γύναι, οὐκ οἶδα αὐτὸν ⁵⁸ καὶ μετὰ βραχὺ ἕτερος ἰδὼν αὐτὸν ἔφη καὶ σὺ ἐξ αὐτῶν εἶ ὁ δὲ πέτρος εἴπεν, ἄνθρωπε οὐκ εἰμί ⁵⁹ καὶ διαστάσης ὡσεὶ ὥρας μιᾶς ἄλλος τις διϊσχυρίζετο λέγων, ἐπ ἀληθείας καὶ οὗτος μετ᾽
