KJV ²⁶ And as they led him away, they laid hold upon one Simon, a Cyrenian, coming out of the country, and on him they laid the cross, that he might bear it after Jesus.

S21 ²⁶ Comme ils l'emmenaient, ils s'emparèrent d'un certain Simon de Cyrène, qui revenait des champs, et ils le chargèrent de la croix pour qu'il la porte derrière Jésus.

KJV ²⁷ And there followed him a great company of people, and of women, which also bewailed and lamented him.

S21 ²⁷ Il était suivi par une grande foule composée de membres du peuple et de femmes qui se frappaient la poitrine et se lamentaient sur lui.

KJV ²⁸ But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children.

S21 ²⁸ Jésus se tourna vers elles et dit: «Femmes de Jérusalem, ne pleurez pas sur moi, mais pleurez sur vous et sur vos enfants.

KJV ²⁹ For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the paps which never gave suck.

S21 ²⁹ En effet, voici que viennent des jours où l'on dira: ‘Heureuses celles qui sont stériles, heureuses celles qui n'ont pas eu d'enfant et celles qui n'ont pas allaité!'

KJV ³⁰ Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us.

S21 ³⁰ Alors on se mettra à dire aux montagnes: ‘Tombez sur nous!' et aux collines: ‘Couvrez-nous!' 

KJV ³¹ For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?

S21 ³¹ En effet, si l'on traite ainsi le bois vert, qu'arrivera-t-il au bois sec?»

KJV ³² And there were also two other, malefactors, led with him to be put to death.

S21 ³² On conduisait aussi deux malfaiteurs qui devaient être mis à mort avec lui.

KJV ³³ And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.

S21 ³³ Lorsqu'ils furent arrivés à l'endroit appelé «le Crâne», ils le crucifièrent là ainsi que les deux malfaiteurs, l'un à droite, l'autre à gauche.

KJV ³⁴ Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

Ils se partagèrent ses vêtements en tirant au sort.

KJV ³⁵ And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God.

S21 ³⁵ Le peuple se tenait là et regardait. Les magistrats eux-mêmes se moquaient de Jésus [avec eux] en disant: «Il en a sauvé d'autres; qu'il se sauve lui-même, s'il est le Messie choisi par Dieu!»

KJV ³⁶ And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar,

S21 ³⁶ Les soldats aussi se moquaient de lui; ils s'approchaient pour lui présenter du vinaigre

KJV ³⁷ And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.

S21 ³⁷ en disant: «Si tu es le roi des Juifs, sauve-toi toi-même!»

KJV ³⁸ And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

S21 ³⁸ Il y avait au-dessus de lui cette inscription [écrite en grec, en latin et en hébreu]: «Celui-ci est le roi des Juifs.»

KJV ³⁹ And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.

S21 ³⁹ L'un des malfaiteurs crucifiés avec lui l'insultait en disant: «Si tu es le Messie, sauve-toi toi-même, et nous avec toi!»

KJV ⁴⁰ But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?

S21 ⁴⁰ Mais l'autre le reprenait et disait: «N'as-tu aucune crainte de Dieu, toi qui subis la même condamnation?

KJV ⁴¹ And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.

S21 ⁴¹ Pour nous, ce n'est que justice, puisque nous recevons ce qu'ont mérité nos actes, mais celui-ci n'a rien fait de mal.»

KJV ⁴² And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.

S21 ⁴² Et il dit à Jésus: «[Seigneur,] souviens-toi de moi quand tu viendras régner.»

KJV ⁴³ And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.

S21 ⁴³ Jésus lui répondit: «Je te le dis en vérité, aujourd'hui tu seras avec moi dans le paradis.»
