KJV ¹ For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard.

OST ¹ Car le royaume des cieux est semblable à un père de famille, qui sortit dès la pointe du jour, afin de louer des ouvriers pour sa vigne.

KJV ² And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard.

OST ² Et étant convenu avec les ouvriers d'un denier par jour, il les envoya à sa vigne.

KJV ³ And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace,

OST ³ Il sortit encore vers la troisième heure, et il en vit d'autres qui étaient sur la place sans rien faire,

KJV ⁴ And said unto them; Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way.

OST ⁴ Et il leur dit: Allez, vous aussi, à ma vigne, et je vous donnerai ce qui sera raisonnable.

KJV ⁵ Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise.

OST ⁵ Et ils y allèrent. Il sortit encore vers la sixième et la neuvième heure, et fit la même chose.

KJV ⁶ And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle?

OST ⁶ Et vers la onzième heure, il sortit et en trouva d'autres qui étaient sans rien faire, et il leur dit: Pourquoi vous tenez-vous ici tout le jour sans rien faire?

KJV ⁷ They say unto him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive.

OST ⁷ Ils lui répondirent: Parce que personne ne nous a loués. Il leur dit: Allez, vous aussi, à ma vigne, et vous recevrez ce qui sera raisonnable.

KJV ⁸ So when even was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, Call the labourers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first.

OST ⁸ Quand le soir fut venu, le maître de la vigne dit à son intendant: Appelle les ouvriers, et leur paye leur salaire, en allant des derniers jusqu'aux premiers.

KJV ⁹ And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny.

OST ⁹ Et ceux de la onzième heure, étant venus, reçurent chacun un denier.

KJV ¹⁰ But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received every man a penny.

OST ¹⁰ Les premiers, étant aussi venus, s'attendaient à recevoir davantage; mais ils reçurent aussi chacun un denier.

KJV ¹¹ And when they had received it, they murmured against the goodman of the house,

OST ¹¹ Et l'ayant reçu, ils murmuraient contre le père de famille,

KJV ¹² Saying, These last have wrought but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day.

OST ¹² En disant: Ces derniers n'ont travaillé qu'une heure, et tu les as égalés à nous qui avons supporté le poids du jour et la chaleur.

KJV ¹³ But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny?

OST ¹³ Mais il répondit et dit à l'un d'eux: Mon ami, je ne te fais point de tort; n'es-tu pas convenu avec moi d'un denier?

KJV ¹⁴ Take that thine is, and go thy way: I will give unto this last, even as unto thee.

OST ¹⁴ Prends ce qui est à toi, et t'en va. Je veux donner à ce dernier autant qu'à toi.

KJV ¹⁵ Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good?

OST ¹⁵ Ne m'est-il pas permis de faire ce que je veux de ce qui est à moi? Ton oeil est-il méchant parce que je suis bon?

KJV ¹⁶ So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen.

OST ¹⁶ Ainsi les derniers seront les premiers, et les premiers seront les derniers; car il y en a beaucoup d'appelés, mais peu d'élus.
