KJV ¹ For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard.

KJV ² And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard.

KJV ³ And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace,

KJV ⁴ And said unto them; Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way.

S21 ⁴ Il leur dit: ‘Allez aussi à ma vigne et je vous donnerai ce qui sera juste.'

KJV ⁵ Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise.

S21 ⁵ Et ils y allèrent. Il sortit de nouveau vers midi et vers trois heures de l'après-midi et il fit de même.

TR1550 ⁵ πάλιν ἐξελθὼν περὶ ἕκτην καὶ ἐννάτην ὥραν ἐποίησεν ὡσαύτως

KJV ⁶ And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle?

S21 ⁶ Il sortit enfin vers cinq heures de l'après-midi et en trouva d'autres qui étaient là, [sans travail]. Il leur dit: ‘Pourquoi vous tenez-vous ici toute la journée sans travailler?'

TR1550 ⁶ περὶ δὲ τὴν ἑνδεκάτην ὥραν ἐξελθὼν εὗρεν ἄλλους ἑστῶτας ἀργούς καὶ λέγει αὖτοῖς τί ὧδε ἑστήκατε ὅλην τὴν ἡμέραν ἀργοί

KJV ⁷ They say unto him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive.

S21 ⁷ Ils lui répondirent: ‘C'est que personne ne nous a embauchés.' ‘Allez aussi à ma vigne, leur dit-il, [et vous recevrez ce qui sera juste].'

TR1550 ⁷ λέγουσιν αὐτῷ ὅτι οὐδεὶς ἡμᾶς ἐμισθώσατο λέγει αὐτοῖς ὑπάγετε καὶ ὑμεῖς εἰς τὸν ἀμπελῶνα καὶ ὁ ἐὰν ᾖ δίκαιον λήψεσθε

KJV ⁸ So when even was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, Call the labourers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first.

S21 ⁸ Le soir venu, le maître de la vigne dit à son intendant: ‘Appelle les ouvriers et paie-leur le salaire, en allant des derniers aux premiers.'

TR1550 ⁸ ὀψίας δὲ γενομένης λέγει ὁ κύριος τοῦ ἀμπελῶνος τῷ ἐπιτρόπῳ αὐτοῦ κάλεσον τοὺς ἐργάτας καὶ ἀπόδος αὐτοῖς τὸν μισθὸν ἀρξάμενος ἀπὸ τῶν ἐσχάτων ἕως τῶν πρώτων

KJV ⁹ And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny.

S21 ⁹ Ceux de cinq heures de l'après-midi vinrent et reçurent chacun une pièce d'argent.

TR1550 ⁹ καὶ ἐλθόντες οἱ περὶ τὴν ἑνδεκάτην ὥραν ἔλαβον ἀνὰ δηνάριον

KJV ¹⁰ But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received every man a penny.

S21 ¹⁰ Quand les premiers vinrent à leur tour, ils pensèrent recevoir davantage, mais ils reçurent aussi chacun une pièce d'argent.

TR1550 ¹⁰ ἐλθόντες δὲ οἱ πρῶτοι ἐνόμισαν ὅτι πλεῖονα λήψονται καὶ ἔλαβον καὶ αὐτοί ἀνὰ δηνάριον

KJV ¹¹ And when they had received it, they murmured against the goodman of the house,

TR1550 ¹¹ λαβόντες δὲ ἐγόγγυζον κατὰ τοῦ οἰκοδεσπότου

KJV ¹² Saying, These last have wrought but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day.

S21 ¹² en disant: ‘Ces derniers arrivés n'ont travaillé qu'une heure et tu les as traités comme nous, qui avons supporté la fatigue du jour et de la chaleur!'

TR1550 ¹² λέγοντες ὅτι οὗτοι οἱ ἔσχατοι μίαν ὥραν ἐποίησαν καὶ ἴσους ἡμῖν αὐτοὺς ἐποίησας τοῖς βαστάσασιν τὸ βάρος τῆς ἡμέρας καὶ τὸν καύσωνα

KJV ¹³ But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny?

S21 ¹³ Il répondit à l'un d'eux: ‘Mon ami, je ne te fais pas de tort. N'as-tu pas été d'accord avec moi pour un salaire d'une pièce d'argent?

TR1550 ¹³ ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν ἑνὶ αὐτῶν ἑταῖρε οὐκ ἀδικῶ σε οὐχὶ δηναρίου συνεφώνησάς μοι

KJV ¹⁴ Take that thine is, and go thy way: I will give unto this last, even as unto thee.

S21 ¹⁴ Prends ce qui te revient et va-t'en. Je veux donner à ce dernier arrivé autant qu'à toi.

TR1550 ¹⁴ ἆρον τὸ σὸν καὶ ὕπαγε θέλω δὲ τούτῳ τῷ ἐσχάτῳ δοῦναι ὡς καὶ σοί

KJV ¹⁵ Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good?

S21 ¹⁵ Ne m'est-il pas permis de faire ce que je veux de mes biens? Ou vois-tu d'un mauvais œil que je sois bon?'

TR1550 ¹⁵ ἢ οὐκ ἔξεστίν μοι ποιῆσαι ὃ θέλω ἐν τοῖς ἐμοῖς εἰ ὁ ὀφθαλμός σου πονηρός ἐστιν ὅτι ἐγὼ ἀγαθός εἰμι

KJV ¹⁶ So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen.
