Mt 3:7-4:11 (Catholique Crampon)

⁷ Voyant un grand nombre de Pharisiens et de Sadducéens venir à son baptême, il leur dit : "race de vipères, qui vous a appris à fuir la colère qui vient ? ⁸ Faites donc de dignes fruits de repentir. ⁹ Et ne vous avisez pas de dire en vous-mêmes : nous avons Abraham pour père ; car je vous dis que de ces pierres mêmes Dieu peut faire naître des enfants à Abraham. ¹⁰ Déjà la cognée est à la racine des arbres : tout arbre donc qui ne porte pas de bon fruit sera coupé et jeté au feu. ¹¹ Moi, je vous baptise dans l'eau pour le repentir ; mais celui qui vient après moi est plus puissant que moi, et je ne suis pas digne de porter ses sandales ; lui, il vous baptisera dans l'Esprit-Saint et le feu. ¹² Dans sa main est le van : il nettoiera son aire, il amassera son froment dans le grenier, et il brûlera la paille dans un feu qui ne s'éteint point." ¹³ Alors parut Jésus, venant de Galilée au Jourdain vers Jean, pour être baptisé par lui. ¹⁴ Jean s'en défendait en disant : "c'est moi qui ai besoin d'être baptisé par vous, et vous venez à moi !" ¹⁵ Jésus lui répondit : "laisse faire maintenant, car il convient que nous accomplissions ainsi toute justice. "alors Jean le laissa faire. ¹⁶ Jésus ayant été baptisé sortit aussitôt de l'eau, et voilà que les cieux s'ouvrirent pour lui, et il vit l'Esprit de Dieu descendre comme une colombe et venir sur lui. ¹⁷ Et voilà que ces cieux une voix disait : "Celui-ci est mon Fils bien-aimé, en qui j'ai mis mes complaisances. "

Matthieu 4

¹ Alors Jésus fut conduit par l'Esprit dans le désert pour être tenté par le diable. ² Après avoir jeûné quarante jours et quarante nuits, il eut faim. ³ Et le tentateur, s'approchant, lui dit : "si vous êtes fils de Dieu, dites que ces pierres deviennent des pains." ⁴ Il lui répondit : "il est écrit : l'homme ne vit pas seulement de pain, mais de toute parole qui sort de la bouche de Dieu." ⁵ Alors le diable l'emmena dans la ville sainte, et, l'ayant posé sur le pinacle du temple, ⁶ il lui dit : "si vous êtes fils de Dieu, jetez-vous en bas ; car il est écrit : Il donnera pour vous des ordres à ses anges, et ils vous prendront sur leurs mains, de peur que votre pied ne heurte contre une pierre." ⁷ Jésus lui dit : "l est écrit aussi : Tu ne tenteras point le Seigneur, ton Dieu." ⁸ Le diable, de nouveau, l'emmena sur une montagne très élevée, et lui montrant tous les royaumes du monde, avec leur gloire, ⁹ il lui dit : "je vous donnerai tout cela, si, tombant à mes pieds, vous vous prosternez devant moi. ¹⁰ Alors Jésus lui dit : "retire-toi, Satan ; car il est écrit : Tu adoreras le Seigneur, ton Dieu, et tu ne serviras que lui seul. " ¹¹ Alors le diable le laissa, et voilà que des anges s'approchèrent pour le servir.

   ⁷ But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? ⁸ Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance: ⁹ And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. ¹⁰ And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. ¹¹ I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: ¹² Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.
   ¹³ Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. ¹⁴ But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? ¹⁵ And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him. ¹⁶ And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: ¹⁷ And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

Matthieu 4

   ¹ Then was Jesus led up of the spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. ² And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred. ³ And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. ⁴ But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. ⁵ Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, ⁶ And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. ⁷ Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. ⁸ Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; ⁹ And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. ¹⁰ Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. ¹¹ Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.
