KJV ¹ The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel;

WLC ¹ מִ֭שְׁלֵי שְׁלֹמֹ֣ה בֶן־ דָּוִ֑ד מֶ֝֗לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

BCC ² pour connaître la sagesse et l'instruction ; pour comprendre les discours sensés ;

KJV ² To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;

VULC ² ad sciendam sapientiam et disciplinam ;

WLC ² לָדַ֣עַת חָכְמָ֣ה וּמוּסָ֑ר לְ֝הָבִ֗ין אִמְרֵ֥י בִינָֽה׃

BCC ³ pour acquérir une instruction éclairée, la justice, l'équité et la droiture ;

KJV ³ To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;

VULC ³ ad intelligenda verba prudentiæ,
et suscipiendam eruditionem doctrinæ,
justitiam, et judicium, et æquitatem :

WLC ³ לָ֭קַחַת מוּסַ֣ר הַשְׂכֵּ֑ל צֶ֥דֶק וּ֝מִשְׁפָּ֗ט וּמֵישָׁרִֽים׃

BCC ⁴ pour donner aux simples le discernement ; au jeune homme la connaissance et la réflexion.

KJV ⁴ To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.

VULC ⁴ ut detur parvulis astutia,
adolescenti scientia et intellectus.

WLC ⁴ לָתֵ֣ת לִפְתָאיִ֣ם עָרְמָ֑ה לְ֝נַ֗עַר דַּ֣עַת וּמְזִמָּֽה׃

BCC ⁵ Que le sage écoute, et il gagnera en savoir ; l'homme intelligent connaîtra les conseils prudents,

KJV ⁵ A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:

VULC ⁵ Audiens sapiens, sapientior erit,
et intelligens gubernacula possidebit.

WLC ⁵ יִשְׁמַ֣ע חָ֭כָם וְי֣וֹסֶף לֶ֑קַח וְ֝נָב֗וֹן תַּחְבֻּל֥וֹת יִקְנֶֽה׃

BCC ⁶ il comprendra les proverbes et les sens mystérieux, les maximes des sages et leurs énigmes.

KJV ⁶ To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.

VULC ⁶ Animadvertet parabolam et interpretationem,
verba sapientum et ænigmata eorum.

WLC ⁶ לְהָבִ֣ין מָ֭שָׁל וּמְלִיצָ֑ה דִּבְרֵ֥י חֲ֝כָמִ֗ים וְחִידֹתָֽם׃
