Ex 22:7-15 (Darby)

⁷ Si quelqu'un donne à son prochain de l'argent ou des objets à garder, et qu'ils soient volés de la maison de cet homme, si le voleur est trouvé, il fera compensation au double.
⁸ Si le voleur n'est pas trouvé, le maître de la maison sera amené devant les juges*, [pour jurer] s'il n'a pas mis sa main sur le bien de son prochain.
⁹ Dans toute affaire d'infidélité touchant un bœuf, touchant un âne, touchant un mouton, touchant un vêtement, touchant toute chose perdue dont on dira : C'est cela, - l'affaire des deux [parties] viendra devant les juges* ; celui que les juges* condamneront fera compensation au double à son prochain.
¹⁰ Si un homme donne à garder à son prochain un âne, ou un bœuf, ou un mouton, ou une bête quelconque, et que la bête meure, ou qu'elle se soit fait une fracture, ou qu'on l'ait emmenée, sans que personne l'ait vu,
¹¹ le serment de l'Éternel interviendra entre les deux [parties], [pour jurer] s'il n'a pas mis sa main sur le bien de son prochain ; et le maître de la [bête] l'acceptera, et celui-là ne fera pas compensation ;
¹² mais, si réellement elle lui a été volée, il fera compensation au maître :
¹³ si elle a été déchirée, il l'apportera en témoignage ; il ne compensera pas ce qui a été déchiré.
¹⁴ Et si un homme a emprunté [une bête] à son prochain, et qu'elle se fasse une fracture, ou qu'elle meure, et que son maître n'ait pas été avec elle, il fera certainement compensation.
¹⁵ Si son maître était avec elle, il ne fera pas compensation ; si elle a été louée elle sera venue pour son louage.

⁷ If a man shall deliver unto his neighbour money or stuff to keep, and it be stolen out of the man's house; if the thief be found, let him pay double.
⁸ If the thief be not found, then the master of the house shall be brought unto the judges, to see whether he have put his hand unto his neighbour's goods.
⁹ For all manner of trespass, whether it be for ox, for ass, for sheep, for raiment, or for any manner of lost thing which another challengeth to be his, the cause of both parties shall come before the judges; and whom the judges shall condemn, he shall pay double unto his neighbour.
¹⁰ If a man deliver unto his neighbour an ass, or an ox, or a sheep, or any beast, to keep; and it die, or be hurt, or driven away, no man seeing it:
¹¹ Then shall an oath of the LORD be between them both, that he hath not put his hand unto his neighbour's goods; and the owner of it shall accept thereof, and he shall not make it good.
¹² And if it be stolen from him, he shall make restitution unto the owner thereof.
¹³ If it be torn in pieces, then let him bring it for witness, and he shall not make good that which was torn.
¹⁴ And if a man borrow ought of his neighbour, and it be hurt, or die, the owner thereof being not with it, he shall surely make it good.
¹⁵ But if the owner thereof be with it, he shall not make it good: if it be an hired thing, it came for his hire.
