¹ Or nous devons, nous qui sommes forts, supporter les infirmités des faibles et ne pas nous complaire en nous-mêmes.
² Que chacun de nous cherche à complaire au prochain pour le bien, en vue de l'édification.
³ Car aussi le Christ ne s'est point complu en lui-même ; mais, selon qu'il est écrit : Les outrages de ceux qui t'outragent sont tombés sur moi.
⁴ Car tout ce qui a été écrit auparavant a été écrit pour notre instruction ; afin que, par la constance et par la consolation des Ecritures, nous ayons l'espérance.

¹ We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.
² Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification.
³ For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me.
⁴ For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

¹ ὀφείλομεν δὲ ἡμεῖς οἱ δυνατοὶ τὰ ἀσθενήματα τῶν ἀδυνάτων βαστάζειν καὶ μὴ ἑαυτοῖς ἀρέσκειν
² ἕκαστος γάρ ἡμῶν τῷ πλησίον ἀρεσκέτω εἰς τὸ ἀγαθὸν πρὸς οἰκοδομήν
³ καὶ γὰρ ὁ χριστὸς οὐχ ἑαυτῷ ἤρεσεν ἀλλὰ καθὼς γέγραπται οἱ ὀνειδισμοὶ τῶν ὀνειδιζόντων σε ἐπέπεσον ἐπ᾽ ἐμέ
⁴ ὅσα γὰρ προεγράφη εἰς τὴν ἡμετέραν διδασκαλίαν προεγράφη, ἵνα διὰ τῆς ὑπομονῆς καὶ τῆς παρακλήσεως τῶν γραφῶν τὴν ἐλπίδα ἔχωμεν
