BCC ¹² Et Salomon s'assit sur le trône de David, son père, et son règne fut bien affermi.

KJV ¹² Then sat Solomon upon the throne of David his father; and his kingdom was established greatly.

VULC ¹² Salomon autem sedit super thronum David patris sui, et firmatum est regnum ejus nimis.

WLC ¹² וּשְׁלֹמֹ֕ה יָשַׁ֕ב עַל־ כִּסֵּ֖א דָּוִ֣ד אָבִ֑יו וַתִּכֹּ֥ן מַלְכֻת֖וֹ מְאֹֽד׃

BCC ¹³ Adonias, fils de Haggith, vint trouver Bethsabée, mère de Salomon. Elle lui dit : « Viens-tu dans une intention pacifique ? » Il répondit : « oui ! Dans une intention pacifique ; »

KJV ¹³ And Adonijah the son of Haggith came to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon. And she said, Comest thou peaceably? And he said, Peaceably.

VULC ¹³ Et ingressus est Adonias filius Haggith ad Bethsabee matrem Salomonis. Quæ dixit ei : Pacificusne est ingressus tuus ? Qui respondit : Pacificus.

WLC ¹³ וַיָּבֹ֞א אֲדֹנִיָּ֣הוּ בֶן־ חַגֵּ֗ית אֶל־ בַּת־ שֶׁ֙בַע֙ אֵם־ שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה וַתֹּ֖אמֶר הֲשָׁל֣וֹם בֹּאֶ֑ךָ וַיֹּ֖אמֶר שָׁלֽוֹם׃

BCC ¹⁴ et il ajouta : « J'ai un mot à te dire. » Elle dit : « Parle. »

KJV ¹⁴ He said moreover, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And she said, Say on.

WLC ¹⁴ וַיֹּ֕אמֶר דָּבָ֥ר לִ֖י אֵלָ֑יִךְ וַתֹּ֖אמֶר דַּבֵּֽר׃

BCC ¹⁵ Et il dit : « Tu sais que le royaume m'appartenait, et que tout Israël portait ses regards sur moi pour que je règne. Mais la royauté a été transférée, et elle a été donnée à mon frère, parce que Yahweh la lui avait destinée.

KJV ¹⁵ And he said, Thou knowest that the kingdom was mine, and that all Israel set their faces on me, that I should reign: howbeit the kingdom is turned about, and is become my brother's: for it was his from the LORD.

VULC ¹⁵ Tu, inquit, nosti, quia meum erat regnum, et me præposuerat omnis Israël sibi in regem : sed translatum est regnum, et factum est fratris mei : a Domino enim constitutum est ei.

WLC ¹⁵ וַיֹּ֗אמֶר אַ֤תְּ יָדַ֙עַתְּ֙ כִּי־ לִי֙ הָיְתָ֣ה הַמְּלוּכָ֔ה וְעָלַ֞י שָׂ֧מוּ כָֽל־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל פְּנֵיהֶ֖ם לִמְלֹ֑ךְ וַתִּסֹּ֤ב הַמְּלוּכָה֙ וַתְּהִ֣י לְאָחִ֔י כִּ֥י מֵיְהוָ֖ה הָ֥יְתָה לּֽוֹ׃

BCC ¹⁶ Maintenant, je te demande une seule chose ; ne me rejette pas. » Elle lui répondit : « Parle. »

KJV ¹⁶ And now I ask one petition of thee, deny me not. And she said unto him, Say on.

VULC ¹⁶ Nunc ergo petitionem unam precor a te : ne confundas faciem meam. Quæ dixit ad eum : Loquere.

WLC ¹⁶ וְעַתָּ֗ה שְׁאֵלָ֤ה אַחַת֙ אָֽנֹכִי֙ שֹׁאֵ֣ל מֵֽאִתָּ֔ךְ אַל־ תָּשִׁ֖בִי אֶת־ פָּנָ֑י וַתֹּ֥אמֶר אֵלָ֖יו דַּבֵּֽר׃

BCC ¹⁷ Et il dit : « Dis, je te prie, au roi Salomon ‒ car il ne te rejettera pas ‒ de me donner pour femme Abisag, la Sunamite. »

KJV ¹⁷ And he said, Speak, I pray thee, unto Solomon the king, (for he will not say thee nay,) that he give me Abishag the Shunammite to wife.

VULC ¹⁷ Et ille ait : Precor ut dicas Salomoni regi (neque enim negare tibi quidquam potest) ut det mihi Abisag Sunamitidem uxorem.

WLC ¹⁷ וַיֹּ֗אמֶר אִמְרִי־ נָא֙ לִשְׁלֹמֹ֣ה הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ כִּ֥י לֹֽא־ יָשִׁ֖יב אֶת־ פָּנָ֑יִךְ וְיִתֶּן־ לִ֛י אֶת־ אֲבִישַׁ֥ג הַשּׁוּנַמִּ֖ית לְאִשָּֽׁה׃

BCC ¹⁸ Bethsabée dit : « Bien ! Je parlerai au roi à ton sujet. »

KJV ¹⁸ And Bathsheba said, Well; I will speak for thee unto the king.

VULC ¹⁸ Et ait Bethsabee : Bene : ego loquar pro te regi.

WLC ¹⁸ וַתֹּ֥אמֶר בַּת־ שֶׁ֖בַע ט֑וֹב אָנֹכִ֕י אֲדַבֵּ֥ר עָלֶ֖יךָ אֶל־ הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃

BCC ¹⁹ Bethsabée se rendit auprès du roi Salomon pour lui parler au sujet d'Adonias. Et le roi se leva pour aller à sa rencontre et il se prosterna devant elle ; il s'assit sur son trône, et fit placer un trône pour la mère du roi, et elle s'assit à sa droite.

KJV ¹⁹ Bathsheba therefore went unto king Solomon, to speak unto him for Adonijah. And the king rose up to meet her, and bowed himself unto her, and sat down on his throne, and caused a seat to be set for the king's mother; and she sat on his right hand.

VULC ¹⁹ Venit ergo Bethsabee ad regem Salomonem ut loqueretur ei pro Adonia : et surrexit rex in occursum ejus, adoravitque eam, et sedit super thronum suum : positusque est thronus matri regis, quæ sedit ad dexteram ejus.

WLC ¹⁹ וַתָּבֹ֤א בַת־ שֶׁ֙בַע֙ אֶל־ הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה לְדַבֶּר־ ל֖וֹ עַל־ אֲדֹנִיָּ֑הוּ וַיָּקָם֩ הַמֶּ֨לֶךְ לִקְרָאתָ֜הּ וַיִּשְׁתַּ֣חוּ לָ֗הּ וַיֵּ֙שֶׁב֙ עַל־ כִּסְא֔וֹ וַיָּ֤שֶׂם כִּסֵּא֙ לְאֵ֣ם הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ וַתֵּ֖שֶׁב לִֽימִינֽוֹ׃

BCC ²⁰ Puis elle dit : « J'ai une petite demande à te faire : ne me rejette pas. » Le roi lui dit : « Demande, ma mère, car je ne te rejetterai pas. »

KJV ²⁰ Then she said, I desire one small petition of thee; I pray thee, say me not nay. And the king said unto her, Ask on, my mother: for I will not say thee nay.

VULC ²⁰ Dixitque ei : Petitionem unam parvulam ego deprecor a te : ne confundas faciem meam. Et dixit ei rex : Pete, mater mea : neque enim fas est ut avertam faciem tuam.

WLC ²⁰ וַתֹּ֗אמֶר שְׁאֵלָ֨ה אַחַ֤ת קְטַנָּה֙ אָֽנֹכִי֙ שֹׁאֶ֣לֶת מֵֽאִתָּ֔ךְ אַל־ תָּ֖שֶׁב אֶת־ פָּנָ֑י וַיֹּֽאמֶר־ לָ֤הּ הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ שַׁאֲלִ֣י אִמִּ֔י כִּ֥י לֹֽא־ אָשִׁ֖יב אֶת־ פָּנָֽיִךְ׃

BCC ²¹ Elle dit : « qu'Abisag, la Sunamite, soit donnée pour femme à Adonias, ton frère. »

KJV ²¹ And she said, Let Abishag the Shunammite be given to Adonijah thy brother to wife.

VULC ²¹ Quæ ait : Detur Abisag Sunamitis Adoniæ fratri tuo uxor.

WLC ²¹ וַתֹּ֕אמֶר יֻתַּ֖ן אֶת־ אֲבִישַׁ֣ג הַשֻּׁנַמִּ֑ית לַאֲדֹנִיָּ֥הוּ אָחִ֖יךָ לְאִשָּֽׁה׃

BCC ²² Le roi Salomon répondit et dit à sa mère : « Pourquoi demandes-tu Abisag, la Sunamite, pour Adonias ? Demande donc la royauté pour lui, ‒ car il est mon frère aîné, ‒ pour lui, pour le prêtre Abiathar, et pour Joab, fils de Sarvia ! »

KJV ²² And king Solomon answered and said unto his mother, And why dost thou ask Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? ask for him the kingdom also; for he is mine elder brother; even for him, and for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab the son of Zeruiah.

VULC ²² Responditque rex Salomon, et dixit matri suæ : Quare postulas Abisag Sunamitidem Adoniæ ? postula ei et regnum : ipse est enim frater meus major me, et habet Abiathar sacerdotem, et Joab filium Sarviæ.

WLC ²² וַיַּעַן֩ הַמֶּ֨לֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹ֜ה וַיֹּ֣אמֶר לְאִמּ֗וֹ וְלָמָה֩ אַ֨תְּ שֹׁאֶ֜לֶת אֶת־ אֲבִישַׁ֤ג הַשֻּׁנַמִּית֙ לַאֲדֹ֣נִיָּ֔הוּ וְשַֽׁאֲלִי־ לוֹ֙ אֶת־ הַמְּלוּכָ֔ה כִּ֛י ה֥וּא אָחִ֖י הַגָּד֣וֹל מִמֶּ֑נִּי וְלוֹ֙ וּלְאֶבְיָתָ֣ר הַכֹּהֵ֔ן וּלְיוֹאָ֖ב בֶּן־ צְרוּיָֽה׃

BCC ²³ Le roi Salomon jura par Yahweh, en disant : « Que Dieu me traite dans toute sa rigueur si ce n'est pas pour sa perte qu'Adonias a prononcé cette parole !

KJV ²³ Then king Solomon sware by the LORD, saying, God do so to me, and more also, if Adonijah have not spoken this word against his own life.

VULC ²³ Juravit itaque rex Salomon per Dominum, dicens : Hæc faciat mihi Deus, et hæc addat, quia contra animam suam locutus est Adonias verbum hoc.

WLC ²³ וַיִּשָּׁבַע֙ הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה בַּֽיהוָ֖ה לֵאמֹ֑ר כֹּ֣ה יַֽעֲשֶׂה־ לִּ֤י אֱלֹהִים֙ וְכֹ֣ה יוֹסִ֔יף כִּ֣י בְנַפְשׁ֔וֹ דִּבֶּר֙ אֲדֹ֣נִיָּ֔הוּ אֶת־ הַדָּבָ֖ר הַזֶּֽה׃

BCC ²⁴ Et maintenant, Yahweh est vivant ! ‒ lui qui m'a affermi et m'a fait asseoir sur le trône de David, mon père, et qui m'a édifié une maison selon qu'il l'avait dit, ‒ aujourd'hui même, Adonias sera mis à mort ! »

KJV ²⁴ Now therefore, as the LORD liveth, which hath established me, and set me on the throne of David my father, and who hath made me an house, as he promised, Adonijah shall be put to death this day.

VULC ²⁴ Et nunc vivit Dominus, qui firmavit me, et collocavit me super solium David patris mei, et qui fecit mihi domum, sicut locutus est, quia hodie occidetur Adonias.

WLC ²⁴ וְעַתָּ֗ה חַי־ יְהוָה֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר הֱכִינַ֗נִי עַל־ כִּסֵּא֙ דָּוִ֣ד אָבִ֔י וַאֲשֶׁ֧ר עָֽשָׂה־ לִ֛י בַּ֖יִת כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר דִּבֵּ֑ר כִּ֣י הַיּ֔וֹם יוּמַ֖ת אֲדֹנִיָּֽהוּ׃

BCC ²⁵ Et le roi Salomon députa Banaïas, fils de Joïadas ; il frappa Adonias, qui mourut.

KJV ²⁵ And king Solomon sent by the hand of Benaiah the son of Jehoiada; and he fell upon him that he died.

VULC ²⁵ Misitque rex Salomon per manum Banaiæ filii Jojadæ, qui interfecit eum, et mortuus est.

WLC ²⁵ וַיִּשְׁלַח֙ הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה בְּיַ֖ד בְּנָיָ֣הוּ בֶן־ יְהוֹיָדָ֑ע וַיִּפְגַּע־ בּ֖וֹ וַיָּמֹֽת׃
