Ec 7:7-10 (King James)

   ⁷ Surely oppression maketh a wise man mad; and a gift destroyeth the heart. ⁸ Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit. ⁹ Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools. ¹⁰ Say not thou, What is the cause that the former days were better than these? for thou dost not enquire wisely concerning this.

⁷ L'oppression peut rendre fou le sage et les cadeaux provoquer la perte du cœur.
⁸ Mieux vaut l'aboutissement d'une affaire que son début. Mieux vaut un esprit patient qu'un esprit arrogant. ⁹ Ne t'irrite pas trop vite intérieurement, car l'irritation est le propre des hommes stupides. ¹⁰ Ne dis pas: «Comment se fait-il que les jours passés aient été meilleurs que ceux-ci?» car ce n'est pas la sagesse qui te pousse à demander cela.
