KJV ¹ And the LORD said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh: for I have hardened his heart, and the heart of his servants, that I might shew these my signs before him:

S21 ¹ L'Eternel dit à Moïse: «Va trouver le pharaon, car j'ai moi-même rendu son cœur insensible, de même que celui de ses serviteurs, pour faire éclater mes signes miraculeux au milieu d'eux.

WLC ¹ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהוָה֙ אֶל־ מֹשֶׁ֔ה בֹּ֖א אֶל־ פַּרְעֹ֑ה כִּֽי־ אֲנִ֞י הִכְבַּ֤דְתִּי אֶת־ לִבּוֹ֙ וְאֶת־ לֵ֣ב עֲבָדָ֔יו לְמַ֗עַן שִׁתִ֛י אֹתֹתַ֥י אֵ֖לֶּה בְּקִרְבּֽוֹ׃

KJV ² And that thou mayest tell in the ears of thy son, and of thy son's son, what things I have wrought in Egypt, and my signs which I have done among them; that ye may know how that I am the LORD.

S21 ² C'est aussi pour que tu racontes à tes enfants et petits-enfants comment je suis intervenu contre les Egyptiens et quels signes miraculeux j'ai fait éclater au milieu d'eux. Vous saurez ainsi que je suis l'Eternel.»

WLC ² וּלְמַ֡עַן תְּסַפֵּר֩ בְּאָזְנֵ֨י בִנְךָ֜ וּבֶן־ בִּנְךָ֗ אֵ֣ת אֲשֶׁ֤ר הִתְעַלַּ֙לְתִּי֙ בְּמִצְרַ֔יִם וְאֶת־ אֹתֹתַ֖י אֲשֶׁר־ שַׂ֣מְתִּי בָ֑ם וִֽידַעְתֶּ֖ם כִּי־ אֲנִ֥י יְהוָֽה׃

KJV ³ And Moses and Aaron came in unto Pharaoh, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD God of the Hebrews, How long wilt thou refuse to humble thyself before me? let my people go, that they may serve me.

S21 ³ Moïse et Aaron allèrent trouver le pharaon et lui annoncèrent: «Voici ce que dit l'Eternel, le Dieu des Hébreux: Jusqu'à quand refuseras-tu de t'humilier devant moi? Laisse partir mon peuple, afin qu'il me serve.

WLC ³ וַיָּבֹ֨א מֹשֶׁ֣ה וְאַהֲרֹן֮ אֶל־ פַּרְעֹה֒ וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ אֵלָ֗יו כֹּֽה־ אָמַ֤ר יְהוָה֙ אֱלֹהֵ֣י הָֽעִבְרִ֔ים עַד־ מָתַ֣י מֵאַ֔נְתָּ לֵעָנֹ֖ת מִפָּנָ֑י שַׁלַּ֥ח עַמִּ֖י וְיַֽעַבְדֻֽנִי׃

KJV ⁴ Else, if thou refuse to let my people go, behold, to morrow will I bring the locusts into thy coast:

S21 ⁴ Si tu refuses de laisser partir mon peuple, je ferai venir demain des sauterelles sur tout ton territoire.

WLC ⁴ כִּ֛י אִם־ מָאֵ֥ן אַתָּ֖ה לְשַׁלֵּ֣חַ אֶת־ עַמִּ֑י הִנְנִ֨י מֵבִ֥יא מָחָ֛ר אַרְבֶּ֖ה בִּגְבֻלֶֽךָ׃

KJV ⁵ And they shall cover the face of the earth, that one cannot be able to see the earth: and they shall eat the residue of that which is escaped, which remaineth unto you from the hail, and shall eat every tree which groweth for you out of the field:

S21 ⁵ Elles recouvriront la surface du sol si bien que l'on ne pourra plus le voir. Elles dévoreront tout ce qui n'a pas encore été touché, ce que la grêle vous a laissé; elles dévoreront tous les arbres qui poussent dans vos campagnes.

WLC ⁵ וְכִסָּה֙ אֶת־ עֵ֣ין הָאָ֔רֶץ וְלֹ֥א יוּכַ֖ל לִרְאֹ֣ת אֶת־ הָאָ֑רֶץ וְאָכַ֣ל ׀ אֶת־ יֶ֣תֶר הַפְּלֵטָ֗ה הַנִּשְׁאֶ֤רֶת לָכֶם֙ מִן־ הַבָּרָ֔ד וְאָכַל֙ אֶת־ כָּל־ הָעֵ֔ץ הַצֹּמֵ֥חַ לָכֶ֖ם מִן־ הַשָּׂדֶֽה׃

KJV ⁶ And they shall fill thy houses, and the houses of all thy servants, and the houses of all the Egyptians; which neither thy fathers, nor thy fathers' fathers have seen, since the day that they were upon the earth unto this day. And he turned himself, and went out from Pharaoh.

S21 ⁶ Elles rempliront tes maisons ainsi que celles de tous tes serviteurs et celles de tous les Egyptiens. Tes parents et tes grands-parents n'auront rien vu de pareil depuis qu'ils existent jusqu'à aujourd'hui.» Moïse se détourna du pharaon et sortit de chez lui.

WLC ⁶ וּמָלְא֨וּ בָתֶּ֜יךָ וּבָתֵּ֣י כָל־ עֲבָדֶיךָ֮ וּבָתֵּ֣י כָל־ מִצְרַיִם֒ אֲשֶׁ֨ר לֹֽא־ רָא֤וּ אֲבֹתֶ֙יךָ֙ וַאֲב֣וֹת אֲבֹתֶ֔יךָ מִיּ֗וֹם הֱיוֹתָם֙ עַל־ הָ֣אֲדָמָ֔ה עַ֖ד הַיּ֣וֹם הַזֶּ֑ה וַיִּ֥פֶן וַיֵּצֵ֖א מֵעִ֥ם פַּרְעֹֽה׃

KJV ⁷ And Pharaoh's servants said unto him, How long shall this man be a snare unto us? let the men go, that they may serve the LORD their God: knowest thou not yet that Egypt is destroyed?

S21 ⁷ Les serviteurs du pharaon lui dirent: «Jusqu'à quand cet homme sera-t-il un piège pour nous? Laisse partir ces gens et qu'ils servent l'Eternel, leur Dieu! Ne vois-tu pas encore que l'Egypte court à sa perte?»

WLC ⁷ וַיֹּאמְרוּ֩ עַבְדֵ֨י פַרְעֹ֜ה אֵלָ֗יו עַד־ מָתַי֙ יִהְיֶ֨ה זֶ֥ה לָ֙נוּ֙ לְמוֹקֵ֔שׁ שַׁלַּח֙ אֶת־ הָ֣אֲנָשִׁ֔ים וְיַֽעַבְד֖וּ אֶת־ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵיהֶ֑ם הֲטֶ֣רֶם תֵּדַ֔ע כִּ֥י אָבְדָ֖ה מִצְרָֽיִם׃

KJV ⁸ And Moses and Aaron were brought again unto Pharaoh: and he said unto them, Go, serve the LORD your God: but who are they that shall go?

S21 ⁸ On fit revenir Moïse et Aaron vers le pharaon: «Allez servir l'Eternel, votre Dieu, leur dit-il. Qui sont ceux qui partiront?»

WLC ⁸ וַיּוּשַׁ֞ב אֶת־ מֹשֶׁ֤ה וְאֶֽת־ אַהֲרֹן֙ אֶל־ פַּרְעֹ֔ה וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֲלֵהֶ֔ם לְכ֥וּ עִבְד֖וּ אֶת־ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֑ם מִ֥י וָמִ֖י הַהֹלְכִֽים׃

KJV ⁹ And Moses said, We will go with our young and with our old, with our sons and with our daughters, with our flocks and with our herds will we go; for we must hold a feast unto the LORD.

S21 ⁹ Moïse répondit: «Nous partirons avec nos enfants et nos vieillards, avec nos fils et nos filles, avec notre petit et notre gros bétail, car c'est pour nous une fête en l'honneur de l'Eternel.»

WLC ⁹ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר מֹשֶׁ֔ה בִּנְעָרֵ֥ינוּ וּבִזְקֵנֵ֖ינוּ נֵלֵ֑ךְ בְּבָנֵ֨ינוּ וּבִבְנוֹתֵ֜נוּ בְּצֹאנֵ֤נוּ וּבִבְקָרֵ֙נוּ֙ נֵלֵ֔ךְ כִּ֥י חַג־ יְהוָ֖ה לָֽנוּ׃

KJV ¹⁰ And he said unto them, Let the LORD be so with you, as I will let you go, and your little ones: look to it; for evil is before you.

S21 ¹⁰ Le pharaon leur dit: «Que l'Eternel soit avec vous aussi sûrement que je vais vous laisser partir, vous et vos enfants! Attention, car le malheur est devant vous!

WLC ¹⁰ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֲלֵהֶ֗ם יְהִ֨י כֵ֤ן יְהוָה֙ עִמָּכֶ֔ם כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר אֲשַׁלַּ֥ח אֶתְכֶ֖ם וְאֶֽת־ טַפְּכֶ֑ם רְא֕וּ כִּ֥י רָעָ֖ה נֶ֥גֶד פְּנֵיכֶֽם׃

KJV ¹¹ Not so: go now ye that are men, and serve the LORD; for that ye did desire. And they were driven out from Pharaoh's presence.

S21 ¹¹ Non et non. Allez servir l'Eternel, mais seulement vous les hommes, puisque c'est ce que vous demandez.» Et on les chassa de chez le pharaon.

WLC ¹¹ לֹ֣א כֵ֗ן לְכֽוּ־ נָ֤א הַגְּבָרִים֙ וְעִבְד֣וּ אֶת־ יְהוָ֔ה כִּ֥י אֹתָ֖הּ אַתֶּ֣ם מְבַקְשִׁ֑ים וַיְגָ֣רֶשׁ אֹתָ֔ם מֵאֵ֖ת פְּנֵ֥י פַרְעֹֽה׃

KJV ¹² And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the land of Egypt for the locusts, that they may come up upon the land of Egypt, and eat every herb of the land, even all that the hail hath left.

S21 ¹² L'Eternel dit à Moïse: «Tends ta main sur l'Egypte et que les sauterelles montent sur le pays. Qu'elles dévorent toute la végétation du pays, tout ce que la grêle a laissé.»

WLC ¹² וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוָ֜ה אֶל־ מֹשֶׁ֗ה נְטֵ֨ה יָדְךָ֜ עַל־ אֶ֤רֶץ מִצְרַ֙יִם֙ בָּֽאַרְבֶּ֔ה וְיַ֖עַל עַל־ אֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרָ֑יִם וְיֹאכַל֙ אֶת־ כָּל־ עֵ֣שֶׂב הָאָ֔רֶץ אֵ֛ת כָּל־ אֲשֶׁ֥ר הִשְׁאִ֖יר הַבָּרָֽד׃

KJV ¹³ And Moses stretched forth his rod over the land of Egypt, and the LORD brought an east wind upon the land all that day, and all that night; and when it was morning, the east wind brought the locusts.

S21 ¹³ Moïse tendit son bâton sur l'Egypte et l'Eternel fit souffler un vent d'est sur le pays toute cette journée-là et toute la nuit. Quand ce fut le matin, le vent d'est avait amené les sauterelles.

WLC ¹³ וַיֵּ֨ט מֹשֶׁ֣ה אֶת־ מַטֵּהוּ֮ עַל־ אֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַיִם֒ וַֽיהוָ֗ה נִהַ֤ג ר֥וּחַ קָדִים֙ בָּאָ֔רֶץ כָּל־ הַיּ֥וֹם הַה֖וּא וְכָל־ הַלָּ֑יְלָה הַבֹּ֣קֶר הָיָ֔ה וְר֙וּחַ֙ הַקָּדִ֔ים נָשָׂ֖א אֶת־ הָאַרְבֶּֽה׃

KJV ¹⁴ And the locust went up over all the land of Egypt, and rested in all the coasts of Egypt: very grievous were they; before them there were no such locusts as they, neither after them shall be such.

S21 ¹⁴ Elles montèrent sur le pays et se posèrent sur tout le territoire de l'Egypte. Elles étaient en si grande quantité qu'il n'y avait jamais eu et qu'il n'y aura jamais rien de pareil.

WLC ¹⁴ וַיַּ֣עַל הָֽאַרְבֶּ֗ה עַ֚ל כָּל־ אֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַ֔יִם וַיָּ֕נַח בְּכֹ֖ל גְּב֣וּל מִצְרָ֑יִם כָּבֵ֣ד מְאֹ֔ד לְ֠פָנָיו לֹא־ הָ֨יָה כֵ֤ן אַרְבֶּה֙ כָּמֹ֔הוּ וְאַחֲרָ֖יו לֹ֥א יִֽהְיֶה־ כֵּֽן׃

KJV ¹⁵ For they covered the face of the whole earth, so that the land was darkened; and they did eat every herb of the land, and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left: and there remained not any green thing in the trees, or in the herbs of the field, through all the land of Egypt.

S21 ¹⁵ Elles recouvrirent toute la surface du sol au point que celui-ci fut obscurci. Elles dévorèrent toute la végétation du pays et tous les fruits des arbres, tout ce que la grêle avait laissé, et dans toute l'Egypte il ne resta aucune verdure, ni aux arbres ni à la végétation.

WLC ¹⁵ וַיְכַ֞ס אֶת־ עֵ֣ין כָּל־ הָאָרֶץ֮ וַתֶּחְשַׁ֣ךְ הָאָרֶץ֒ וַיֹּ֜אכַל אֶת־ כָּל־ עֵ֣שֶׂב הָאָ֗רֶץ וְאֵת֙ כָּל־ פְּרִ֣י הָעֵ֔ץ אֲשֶׁ֥ר הוֹתִ֖יר הַבָּרָ֑ד וְלֹא־ נוֹתַ֨ר כָּל־ יֶ֧רֶק בָּעֵ֛ץ וּבְעֵ֥שֶׂב הַשָּׂדֶ֖ה בְּכָל־ אֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃

KJV ¹⁶ Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron in haste; and he said, I have sinned against the LORD your God, and against you.

S21 ¹⁶ Le pharaon se dépêcha d'appeler Moïse et Aaron et dit: «J'ai péché contre l'Eternel, votre Dieu, et contre vous.

WLC ¹⁶ וַיְמַהֵ֣ר פַּרְעֹ֔ה לִקְרֹ֖א לְמֹשֶׁ֣ה וּֽלְאַהֲרֹ֑ן וַיֹּ֗אמֶר חָטָ֛אתִי לַיהוָ֥ה אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶ֖ם וְלָכֶֽם׃

KJV ¹⁷ Now therefore forgive, I pray thee, my sin only this once, and intreat the LORD your God, that he may take away from me this death only.

S21 ¹⁷ Cependant, pardonne mon péché pour cette fois encore et priez l'Eternel, votre Dieu, afin qu'il éloigne ce fléau mortel de moi.»

WLC ¹⁷ וְעַתָּ֗ה שָׂ֣א נָ֤א חַטָּאתִי֙ אַ֣ךְ הַפַּ֔עַם וְהַעְתִּ֖ירוּ לַיהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֑ם וְיָסֵר֙ מֵֽעָלַ֔י רַ֖ק אֶת־ הַמָּ֥וֶת הַזֶּֽה׃

KJV ¹⁸ And he went out from Pharaoh, and intreated the LORD.

S21 ¹⁸ Moïse sortit de chez le pharaon et pria l'Eternel.

WLC ¹⁸ וַיֵּצֵ֖א מֵעִ֣ם פַּרְעֹ֑ה וַיֶּעְתַּ֖ר אֶל־ יְהוָֽה׃

KJV ¹⁹ And the LORD turned a mighty strong west wind, which took away the locusts, and cast them into the Red sea; there remained not one locust in all the coasts of Egypt.

S21 ¹⁹ L'Eternel fit souffler un vent d'ouest très fort qui emporta les sauterelles et les précipita dans la mer des Roseaux. Il ne resta pas une seule sauterelle sur tout le territoire de l'Egypte.

WLC ¹⁹ וַיַּהֲפֹ֨ךְ יְהוָ֤ה רֽוּחַ־ יָם֙ חָזָ֣ק מְאֹ֔ד וַיִּשָּׂא֙ אֶת־ הָ֣אַרְבֶּ֔ה וַיִּתְקָעֵ֖הוּ יָ֣מָּה סּ֑וּף לֹ֤א נִשְׁאַר֙ אַרְבֶּ֣ה אֶחָ֔ד בְּכֹ֖ל גְּב֥וּל מִצְרָֽיִם׃

KJV ²⁰ But the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, so that he would not let the children of Israel go.

S21 ²⁰ L'Eternel endurcit le cœur du pharaon et celui-ci ne laissa pas partir les Israélites.

WLC ²⁰ וַיְחַזֵּ֥ק יְהוָ֖ה אֶת־ לֵ֣ב פַּרְעֹ֑ה וְלֹ֥א שִׁלַּ֖ח אֶת־ בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

KJV ²¹ And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt.

S21 ²¹ L'Eternel dit à Moïse: «Tends ta main vers le ciel et qu'il y ait des ténèbres sur l'Egypte, si fortes qu'on puisse les toucher.»

WLC ²¹ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוָ֜ה אֶל־ מֹשֶׁ֗ה נְטֵ֤ה יָֽדְךָ֙ עַל־ הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם וִ֥יהִי חֹ֖שֶׁךְ עַל־ אֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרָ֑יִם וְיָמֵ֖שׁ חֹֽשֶׁךְ׃

KJV ²² And Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days:

S21 ²² Moïse tendit sa main vers le ciel et il y eut d'épaisses ténèbres dans toute l'Egypte pendant 3 jours.

WLC ²² וַיֵּ֥ט מֹשֶׁ֛ה אֶת־ יָד֖וֹ עַל־ הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם וַיְהִ֧י חֹֽשֶׁךְ־ אֲפֵלָ֛ה בְּכָל־ אֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרַ֖יִם שְׁלֹ֥שֶׁת יָמִֽים׃

KJV ²³ They saw not one another, neither rose any from his place for three days: but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.

S21 ²³ Les gens ne se voyaient pas les uns les autres et personne ne bougea de sa place pendant 3 jours. En revanche, il y avait de la lumière partout où habitaient les Israélites.

WLC ²³ לֹֽא־ רָא֞וּ אִ֣ישׁ אֶת־ אָחִ֗יו וְלֹא־ קָ֛מוּ אִ֥ישׁ מִתַּחְתָּ֖יו שְׁלֹ֣שֶׁת יָמִ֑ים וּֽלְכָל־ בְּנֵ֧י יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל הָ֥יָה א֖וֹר בְּמוֹשְׁבֹתָֽם׃

KJV ²⁴ And Pharaoh called unto Moses, and said, Go ye, serve the LORD; only let your flocks and your herds be stayed: let your little ones also go with you.

S21 ²⁴ Le pharaon appela Moïse et dit: «Allez servir l'Eternel. Seul votre petit et votre gros bétail restera, et même vos enfants pourront vous accompagner.»

WLC ²⁴ וַיִּקְרָ֨א פַרְעֹ֜ה אֶל־ מֹשֶׁ֗ה וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ לְכוּ֙ עִבְד֣וּ אֶת־ יְהוָ֔ה רַ֛ק צֹאנְכֶ֥ם וּבְקַרְכֶ֖ם יֻצָּ֑ג גַּֽם־ טַפְּכֶ֖ם יֵלֵ֥ךְ עִמָּכֶֽם׃

KJV ²⁵ And Moses said, Thou must give us also sacrifices and burnt offerings, that we may sacrifice unto the LORD our God.

S21 ²⁵ Moïse répondit: «Tu mettras toi-même entre nos mains de quoi faire les sacrifices et les holocaustes que nous offrirons à l'Eternel, notre Dieu.

WLC ²⁵ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר מֹשֶׁ֔ה גַּם־ אַתָּ֛ה תִּתֵּ֥ן בְּיָדֵ֖נוּ זְבָחִ֣ים וְעֹל֑וֹת וְעָשִׂ֖ינוּ לַיהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃

KJV ²⁶ Our cattle also shall go with us; there shall not an hoof be left behind; for thereof must we take to serve the LORD our God; and we know not with what we must serve the LORD, until we come thither.

S21 ²⁶ De plus, nos troupeaux partiront avec nous; pas un sabot ne restera. En effet, c'est parmi eux que nous prendrons de quoi servir l'Eternel, notre Dieu, et nous ne saurons pas avant d'être arrivés là-bas ce que nous choisirons pour le service de l'Eternel.»

WLC ²⁶ וְגַם־ מִקְנֵ֜נוּ יֵלֵ֣ךְ עִמָּ֗נוּ לֹ֤א תִשָּׁאֵר֙ פַּרְסָ֔ה כִּ֚י מִמֶּ֣נּוּ נִקַּ֔ח לַעֲבֹ֖ד אֶת־ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּ וַאֲנַ֣חְנוּ לֹֽא־ נֵדַ֗ע מַֽה־ נַּעֲבֹד֙ אֶת־ יְהוָ֔ה עַד־ בֹּאֵ֖נוּ שָֽׁמָּה׃

KJV ²⁷ But the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he would not let them go.

KJV ²⁸ And Pharaoh said unto him, Get thee from me, take heed to thyself, see my face no more; for in that day thou seest my face thou shalt die.

S21 ²⁸ Il dit même à Moïse: «Sors de chez moi! Veille bien à ne plus te présenter devant moi, car le jour où tu le feras, tu mourras.»

WLC ²⁸ וַיֹּֽאמֶר־ ל֥וֹ פַרְעֹ֖ה לֵ֣ךְ מֵעָלָ֑י הִשָּׁ֣מֶר לְךָ֗ אֶל־ תֹּ֙סֶף֙ רְא֣וֹת פָּנַ֔י כִּ֗י בְּי֛וֹם רְאֹתְךָ֥ פָנַ֖י תָּמֽוּת׃

KJV ²⁹ And Moses said, Thou hast spoken well, I will see thy face again no more.

S21 ²⁹ «Tu l'as dit, répliqua Moïse, je ne me présenterai plus devant toi.»

WLC ²⁹ וַיֹּ֥אמֶר מֹשֶׁ֖ה כֵּ֣ן דִּבַּ֑רְתָּ לֹא־ אֹסִ֥ף ע֖וֹד רְא֥וֹת פָּנֶֽיךָ׃

KJV ¹ And the LORD said unto Moses, Yet will I bring one plague more upon Pharaoh, and upon Egypt; afterwards he will let you go hence: when he shall let you go, he shall surely thrust you out hence altogether.

S21 ¹ L'Eternel dit à Moïse: «Je vais faire venir encore un fléau sur le pharaon et sur l'Egypte. Après cela, il vous laissera partir d'ici. Lorsqu'il vous laissera enfin partir, il vous chassera même d'ici.

KJV ² Speak now in the ears of the people, and let every man borrow of his neighbour, and every woman of her neighbour, jewels of silver and jewels of gold.

S21 ² Dis au peuple de demander chacun à son voisin – et chacune à sa voisine – des objets en argent et en or.»

WLC ² דַּבֶּר־ נָ֖א בְּאָזְנֵ֣י הָעָ֑ם וְיִשְׁאֲל֞וּ אִ֣ישׁ ׀ מֵאֵ֣ת רֵעֵ֗הוּ וְאִשָּׁה֙ מֵאֵ֣ת רְעוּתָ֔הּ כְּלֵי־ כֶ֖סֶף וּכְלֵ֥י זָהָֽב׃

KJV ³ And the LORD gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh's servants, and in the sight of the people.

S21 ³ L'Eternel gagna la faveur des Egyptiens au peuple. Du reste, Moïse lui-même était un homme très important en Egypte aux yeux des serviteurs du pharaon et du peuple.

WLC ³ וַיִּתֵּ֧ן יְהוָ֛ה אֶת־ חֵ֥ן הָעָ֖ם בְּעֵינֵ֣י מִצְרָ֑יִם גַּ֣ם ׀ הָאִ֣ישׁ מֹשֶׁ֗ה גָּד֤וֹל מְאֹד֙ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַ֔יִם בְּעֵינֵ֥י עַבְדֵֽי־ פַרְעֹ֖ה וּבְעֵינֵ֥י הָעָֽם׃

KJV ⁴ And Moses said, Thus saith the LORD, About midnight will I go out into the midst of Egypt:

S21 ⁴ Moïse annonça: «Voici ce que dit l'Eternel: Vers le milieu de la nuit, je parcourrai l'Egypte

WLC ⁴ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר מֹשֶׁ֔ה כֹּ֖ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֑ה כַּחֲצֹ֣ת הַלַּ֔יְלָה אֲנִ֥י יוֹצֵ֖א בְּת֥וֹךְ מִצְרָֽיִם׃

KJV ⁵ And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the first born of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne, even unto the firstborn of the maidservant that is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of beasts.

S21 ⁵ et tous les premiers-nés mourront en Egypte, depuis le fils aîné du pharaon qui siège sur son trône jusqu'au fils aîné de la servante qui travaille à la meule et jusqu'à tous les premiers-nés des animaux.

WLC ⁵ וּמֵ֣ת כָּל־ בְּכוֹר֮ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַיִם֒ מִבְּכ֤וֹר פַּרְעֹה֙ הַיֹּשֵׁ֣ב עַל־ כִּסְא֔וֹ עַ֚ד בְּכ֣וֹר הַשִּׁפְחָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֖ר אַחַ֣ר הָרֵחָ֑יִם וְכֹ֖ל בְּכ֥וֹר בְּהֵמָֽה׃

KJV ⁶ And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there was none like it, nor shall be like it any more.

S21 ⁶ Il y aura dans toute l'Egypte de si grands cris qu'il n'y en a pas eu et qu'il n'y en aura plus de pareils.

WLC ⁶ וְהָֽיְתָ֛ה צְעָקָ֥ה גְדֹלָ֖ה בְּכָל־ אֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרָ֑יִם אֲשֶׁ֤ר כָּמֹ֙הוּ֙ לֹ֣א נִהְיָ֔תָה וְכָמֹ֖הוּ לֹ֥א תֹסִֽף׃

KJV ⁷ But against any of the children of Israel shall not a dog move his tongue, against man or beast: that ye may know how that the LORD doth put a difference between the Egyptians and Israel.

S21 ⁷ En revanche, chez les Israélites, pas même un chien ne grognera, ni contre un homme ni contre un animal. Vous saurez ainsi quelle différence l'Eternel fait entre l'Egypte et Israël.

WLC ⁷ וּלְכֹ֣ל ׀ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל לֹ֤א יֶֽחֱרַץ־ כֶּ֙לֶב֙ לְשֹׁנ֔וֹ לְמֵאִ֖ישׁ וְעַד־ בְּהֵמָ֑ה לְמַ֙עַן֙ תֵּֽדְע֔וּן אֲשֶׁר֙ יַפְלֶ֣ה יְהוָ֔ה בֵּ֥ין מִצְרַ֖יִם וּבֵ֥ין יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

KJV ⁸ And all these thy servants shall come down unto me, and bow down themselves unto me, saying, Get thee out, and all the people that follow thee: and after that I will go out. And he went out from Pharaoh in a great anger.

S21 ⁸ Alors tous tes serviteurs ici présents descendront vers moi et se prosterneront devant moi en disant: ‘Sors, toi et tout le peuple qui marche à ta suite!' Après cela, je sortirai.» Moïse sortit de chez le pharaon dans une ardente colère.

KJV ⁹ And the LORD said unto Moses, Pharaoh shall not hearken unto you; that my wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt.

S21 ⁹ L'Eternel avait dit à Moïse: «Le pharaon ne vous écoutera pas afin que mes miracles soient nombreux en Egypte.»

WLC ⁹ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהוָה֙ אֶל־ מֹשֶׁ֔ה לֹא־ יִשְׁמַ֥ע אֲלֵיכֶ֖ם פַּרְעֹ֑ה לְמַ֛עַן רְב֥וֹת מוֹפְתַ֖י בְּאֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃

KJV ¹⁰ And Moses and Aaron did all these wonders before Pharaoh: and the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, so that he would not let the children of Israel go out of his land.

S21 ¹⁰ Moïse et Aaron firent tous ces miracles devant le pharaon, et l'Eternel endurcit le cœur du pharaon et celui-ci ne laissa pas les Israélites partir de son pays.

KJV ¹ And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt saying,

KJV ² This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.

S21 ² «Ce mois-ci sera pour vous le premier des mois, vous le considérerez comme le premier des mois de l'année.

WLC ² הַחֹ֧דֶשׁ הַזֶּ֛ה לָכֶ֖ם רֹ֣אשׁ חֳדָשִׁ֑ים רִאשׁ֥וֹן הוּא֙ לָכֶ֔ם לְחָדְשֵׁ֖י הַשָּׁנָֽה׃

KJV ³ Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house:

S21 ³ Transmettez ces instructions à toute l'assemblée d'Israël: Le dixième jour de ce mois, on prendra un agneau pour chaque famille, un agneau pour chaque maison.

WLC ³ דַּבְּר֗וּ אֶֽל־ כָּל־ עֲדַ֤ת יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר בֶּעָשֹׂ֖ר לַחֹ֣דֶשׁ הַזֶּ֑ה וְיִקְח֣וּ לָהֶ֗ם אִ֛ישׁ שֶׂ֥ה לְבֵית־ אָבֹ֖ת שֶׂ֥ה לַבָּֽיִת׃

KJV ⁴ And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take it according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb.

S21 ⁴ Si la maison est trop peu nombreuse pour un agneau, on le partagera avec le plus proche voisin, en fonction du nombre de personnes. Vous estimerez le nombre de personnes pour l'agneau d'après la part que chacun peut manger.

WLC ⁴ וְאִם־ יִמְעַ֣ט הַבַּיִת֮ מִהְיֹ֣ת מִשֶּׂה֒ וְלָקַ֣ח ה֗וּא וּשְׁכֵנ֛וֹ הַקָּרֹ֥ב אֶל־ בֵּית֖וֹ בְּמִכְסַ֣ת נְפָשֹׁ֑ת אִ֚ישׁ לְפִ֣י אָכְל֔וֹ תָּכֹ֖סּוּ עַל־ הַשֶּֽׂה׃

KJV ⁵ Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:

S21 ⁵ Ce sera un agneau sans défaut, mâle, âgé d'un an. Vous pourrez prendre un agneau ou un chevreau.

WLC ⁵ שֶׂ֥ה תָמִ֛ים זָכָ֥ר בֶּן־ שָׁנָ֖ה יִהְיֶ֣ה לָכֶ֑ם מִן־ הַכְּבָשִׂ֥ים וּמִן־ הָעִזִּ֖ים תִּקָּֽחוּ׃

KJV ⁶ And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.

S21 ⁶ Vous le garderez jusqu'au quatorzième jour de ce mois, où toute l'assemblée d'Israël le sacrifiera au coucher du soleil.

WLC ⁶ וְהָיָ֤ה לָכֶם֙ לְמִשְׁמֶ֔רֶת עַ֣ד אַרְבָּעָ֥ה עָשָׂ֛ר י֖וֹם לַחֹ֣דֶשׁ הַזֶּ֑ה וְשָׁחֲט֣וּ אֹת֗וֹ כֹּ֛ל קְהַ֥ל עֲדַֽת־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל בֵּ֥ין הָעַרְבָּֽיִם׃

KJV ⁷ And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.

S21 ⁷ On prendra de son sang et on en mettra sur les deux poteaux et sur le linteau de la porte des maisons où on le mangera.

WLC ⁷ וְלָֽקְחוּ֙ מִן־ הַדָּ֔ם וְנָֽתְנ֛וּ עַל־ שְׁתֵּ֥י הַמְּזוּזֹ֖ת וְעַל־ הַמַּשְׁק֑וֹף עַ֚ל הַבָּ֣תִּ֔ים אֲשֶׁר־ יֹאכְל֥וּ אֹת֖וֹ בָּהֶֽם׃

KJV ⁸ And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it.

S21 ⁸ Cette même nuit, on mangera sa viande rôtie au feu; on la mangera avec des pains sans levain et des herbes amères.

WLC ⁸ וְאָכְל֥וּ אֶת־ הַבָּשָׂ֖ר בַּלַּ֣יְלָה הַזֶּ֑ה צְלִי־ אֵ֣שׁ וּמַצּ֔וֹת עַל־ מְרֹרִ֖ים יֹאכְלֻֽהוּ׃

KJV ⁹ Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire; his head with his legs, and with the purtenance thereof.

S21 ⁹ Vous ne le mangerez pas à moitié cuit et bouilli dans l'eau; au contraire, il sera rôti au feu avec la tête, les pattes et l'intérieur.

WLC ⁹ אַל־ תֹּאכְל֤וּ מִמֶּ֙נּוּ֙ נָ֔א וּבָשֵׁ֥ל מְבֻשָּׁ֖ל בַּמָּ֑יִם כִּ֣י אִם־ צְלִי־ אֵ֔שׁ רֹאשׁ֥וֹ עַל־ כְּרָעָ֖יו וְעַל־ קִרְבּֽוֹ׃

KJV ¹⁰ And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire.

S21 ¹⁰ Vous n'en laisserez rien pour le matin; si toutefois il en reste quelque chose le matin, vous le brûlerez au feu.

WLC ¹⁰ וְלֹא־ תוֹתִ֥ירוּ מִמֶּ֖נּוּ עַד־ בֹּ֑קֶר וְהַנֹּתָ֥ר מִמֶּ֛נּוּ עַד־ בֹּ֖קֶר בָּאֵ֥שׁ תִּשְׂרֹֽפוּ׃

KJV ¹¹ And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD's passover.

S21 ¹¹ Quand vous le mangerez, vous aurez une ceinture à la taille, vos sandales aux pieds et votre bâton à la main. Vous le mangerez rapidement. C'est la Pâque de l'Eternel.

WLC ¹¹ וְכָכָה֮ תֹּאכְל֣וּ אֹתוֹ֒ מָתְנֵיכֶ֣ם חֲגֻרִ֔ים נַֽעֲלֵיכֶם֙ בְּרַגְלֵיכֶ֔ם וּמַקֶּלְכֶ֖ם בְּיֶדְכֶ֑ם וַאֲכַלְתֶּ֤ם אֹתוֹ֙ בְּחִפָּז֔וֹן פֶּ֥סַח ה֖וּא לַיהוָֽה׃
