KJV ¹⁶ And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that was in the camp trembled.

DRB ¹⁷ Et Moïse fit sortir le peuple hors du camp à la rencontre de Dieu, et ils se tinrent au pied de la montagne.

KJV ¹⁷ And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with God; and they stood at the nether part of the mount.

VULC ¹⁷ Cumque eduxisset eos Moyses in occursum Dei de loco castrorum, steterunt ad radices montis.

DRB ¹⁸ Et toute la montagne de Sinaï fumait, parce que l'Éternel descendit en feu sur elle ; et sa fumée montait comme la fumée d'une fournaise, et toute la montagne tremblait fort.

KJV ¹⁸ And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly.

DRB ¹⁹ Et comme le son de la trompette se renforçait de plus en plus, Moïse parla, et Dieu lui répondit par une voix.

KJV ¹⁹ And when the voice of the trumpet sounded long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice.

DRB ²¹ Et l'Éternel dit à Moïse : Descends, avertis solennellement le peuple, de peur qu'ils ne rompent les barrières pour monter* vers l'Éternel pour voir, et qu'un grand nombre d'entre eux ne tombe.

KJV ²¹ And the LORD said unto Moses, Go down, charge the people, lest they break through unto the LORD to gaze, and many of them perish.

DRB ²² Et aussi, que les sacrificateurs qui s'approchent de l'Éternel se sanctifient, de peur que l'Éternel ne se jette sur eux*.

KJV ²² And let the priests also, which come near to the LORD, sanctify themselves, lest the LORD break forth upon them.

VULC ²² Sacerdotes quoque qui accedunt ad Dominum, sanctificentur, ne percutiat eos.

DRB ²³ Et Moïse dit à l'Éternel : Le peuple ne pourra pas monter sur la montagne de Sinaï, car tu nous as solennellement avertis, en disant : Mets des bornes autour de la montagne, et sanctifie-la.

KJV ²³ And Moses said unto the LORD, The people cannot come up to mount Sinai: for thou chargedst us, saying, Set bounds about the mount, and sanctify it.

DRB ²⁴ Et l'Éternel lui dit : Va, descends ; puis tu monteras, toi, et Aaron avec toi ; mais que les sacrificateurs et le peuple ne rompent point les barrières pour monter* vers l'Éternel de peur qu'il ne se jette sur eux**.

KJV ²⁴ And the LORD said unto him, Away, get thee down, and thou shalt come up, thou, and Aaron with thee: but let not the priests and the people break through to come up unto the LORD, lest he break forth upon them.

DRB ⁶ et qui use de bonté envers des milliers de ceux qui m'aiment et qui gardent mes commandements.

KJV ⁶ And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

KJV ¹⁹ And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die.

KJV ²⁰ And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not.

VULC ²⁰ Et ait Moyses ad populum : Nolite timere : ut enim probaret vos venit Deus, et ut terror illius esset in vobis, et non peccaretis.

DRB ²¹ Et le peuple se tint loin ; et Moïse s'approcha de l'obscurité profonde où Dieu était.

DRB ²³ Vous ne ferez point de dieux d'argent à côté de moi, et vous ne vous ferez pas des dieux d'or.

KJV ²³ Ye shall not make with me gods of silver, neither shall ye make unto you gods of gold.

VULC ²³ Non facietis deos argenteos, nec deos aureos facietis vobis.

WLC ²³ לֹ֥א תַעֲשׂ֖וּן אִתִּ֑י אֱלֹ֤הֵי כֶ֙סֶף֙ וֵאלֹהֵ֣י זָהָ֔ב לֹ֥א תַעֲשׂ֖וּ לָכֶֽם׃

DRB ²⁴ Tu me feras un autel de terre, et tu sacrifieras dessus tes holocaustes et tes sacrifices de prospérités, ton menu et ton gros bétail. En tout lieu où je mettrai la mémoire de mon nom, je viendrai à toi, et je te bénirai.

KJV ²⁴ An altar of earth thou shalt make unto me, and shalt sacrifice thereon thy burnt offerings, and thy peace offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen: in all places where I record my name I will come unto thee, and I will bless thee.

VULC ²⁴ Altare de terra facietis mihi, et offeretis super eo holocausta et pacifica vestra, oves vestras et boves in omni loco in quo memoria fuerit nominis mei : veniam ad te, et benedicam tibi.

WLC ²⁴ מִזְבַּ֣ח אֲדָמָה֮ תַּעֲשֶׂה־ לִּי֒ וְזָבַחְתָּ֣ עָלָ֗יו אֶת־ עֹלֹתֶ֙יךָ֙ וְאֶת־ שְׁלָמֶ֔יךָ אֶת־ צֹֽאנְךָ֖ וְאֶת־ בְּקָרֶ֑ךָ בְּכָל־ הַמָּקוֹם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר אַזְכִּ֣יר אֶת־ שְׁמִ֔י אָב֥וֹא אֵלֶ֖יךָ וּבֵרַכְתִּֽיךָ׃

DRB ²⁵ Et si tu me fais un autel de pierres, tu ne le bâtiras point de pierres taillées ; car si tu lèves ton ciseau dessus, tu le profaneras.

KJV ²⁵ And if thou wilt make me an altar of stone, thou shalt not build it of hewn stone: for if thou lift up thy tool upon it, thou hast polluted it.

VULC ²⁵ Quod si altare lapideum feceris mihi, non ædificabis illud de sectis lapidibus : si enim levaveris cultrum super eo, polluetur.

WLC ²⁵ וְאִם־ מִזְבַּ֤ח אֲבָנִים֙ תַּֽעֲשֶׂה־ לִּ֔י לֹֽא־ תִבְנֶ֥ה אֶתְהֶ֖ן גָּזִ֑ית כִּ֧י חַרְבְּךָ֛ הֵנַ֥פְתָּ עָלֶ֖יהָ וַתְּחַֽלְלֶֽהָ׃

DRB ²⁶ Et tu ne monteras point à mon autel par des degrés, afin que ta nudité n'y soit pas découverte.

KJV ²⁶ Neither shalt thou go up by steps unto mine altar, that thy nakedness be not discovered thereon.

VULC ²⁶ Non ascendes per gradus ad altare meum, ne reveletur turpitudo tua.

WLC ²⁶ וְלֹֽא־ תַעֲלֶ֥ה בְמַעֲלֹ֖ת עַֽל־ מִזְבְּחִ֑י אֲשֶׁ֛ר לֹֽא־ תִגָּלֶ֥ה עֶרְוָתְךָ֖ עָלָֽיו׃

DRB ¹ Ce sont ici les jugements* que tu placeras devant eux :

KJV ¹ Now these are the judgments which thou shalt set before them.

VULC ¹ Hæc sunt judicia quæ propones eis.

WLC ¹ וְאֵ֙לֶּה֙ הַמִּשְׁפָּטִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר תָּשִׂ֖ים לִפְנֵיהֶֽם׃

DRB ² Si tu achètes un serviteur hébreu, il servira six années, et, la septième, il sortira libre, gratuitement.

KJV ² If thou buy an Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing.

VULC ² Si emeris servum hebræum, sex annis serviet tibi : in septimo egredietur liber gratis.

WLC ² כִּ֤י תִקְנֶה֙ עֶ֣בֶד עִבְרִ֔י שֵׁ֥שׁ שָׁנִ֖ים יַעֲבֹ֑ד וּבַ֨שְּׁבִעִ֔ת יֵצֵ֥א לַֽחָפְשִׁ֖י חִנָּֽם׃

DRB ³ S'il est venu seul*, il sortira seul ; s'il avait une femme, sa femme sortira avec lui.

KJV ³ If he came in by himself, he shall go out by himself: if he were married, then his wife shall go out with him.

VULC ³ Cum quali veste intraverit, cum tali exeat : si habens uxorem, et uxor egredietur simul.

WLC ³ אִם־ בְּגַפּ֥וֹ יָבֹ֖א בְּגַפּ֣וֹ יֵצֵ֑א אִם־ בַּ֤עַל אִשָּׁה֙ ה֔וּא וְיָצְאָ֥ה אִשְׁתּ֖וֹ עִמּֽוֹ׃

DRB ⁴ Si son maître lui a donné une femme, et qu'elle lui ait enfanté des fils ou des filles, la femme et ses enfants seront à son* maître, et lui, il sortira seul**.

KJV ⁴ If his master have given him a wife, and she have born him sons or daughters; the wife and her children shall be her master's, and he shall go out by himself.

VULC ⁴ Sin autem dominus dederit illi uxorem, et pepererit filios et filias : mulier et liberi ejus erunt domini sui, ipse vero exibit cum vestitu suo.

DRB ⁵ Mais si le serviteur dit positivement : J'aime mon maître, ma femme et mes enfants, je ne veux pas sortir libre ;

KJV ⁵ And if the servant shall plainly say, I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free:

VULC ⁵ Quod si dixerit servus : Diligo dominum meum et uxorem ac liberos ; non egrediar liber :

WLC ⁵ וְאִם־ אָמֹ֤ר יֹאמַר֙ הָעֶ֔בֶד אָהַ֙בְתִּי֙ אֶת־ אֲדֹנִ֔י אֶת־ אִשְׁתִּ֖י וְאֶת־ בָּנָ֑י לֹ֥א אֵצֵ֖א חָפְשִֽׁי׃

DRB ⁶ alors son maître le fera venir devant les juges*, et le fera approcher de la porte ou du poteau, et son maître lui percera l'oreille avec un poinçon ; et il le servira à toujours.

KJV ⁶ Then his master shall bring him unto the judges; he shall also bring him to the door, or unto the door post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an aul; and he shall serve him for ever.

VULC ⁶ offeret eum dominus diis, et applicabitur ad ostium et postes, perforabitque aurem ejus subula : et erit ei servus in sæculum.

WLC ⁶ וְהִגִּישׁ֤וֹ אֲדֹנָיו֙ אֶל־ הָ֣אֱלֹהִ֔ים וְהִגִּישׁוֹ֙ אֶל־ הַדֶּ֔לֶת א֖וֹ אֶל־ הַמְּזוּזָ֑ה וְרָצַ֨ע אֲדֹנָ֤יו אֶת־ אָזְנוֹ֙ בַּמַּרְצֵ֔עַ וַעֲבָד֖וֹ לְעֹלָֽם׃

DRB ⁷ Et si un homme vend sa fille pour être servante, elle ne sortira point comme sortent les serviteurs.

KJV ⁷ And if a man sell his daughter to be a maidservant, she shall not go out as the menservants do.

VULC ⁷ Si quis vendiderit filiam suam in famulam, non egredietur sicut ancillæ exire consueverunt.

WLC ⁷ וְכִֽי־ יִמְכֹּ֥ר אִ֛ישׁ אֶת־ בִּתּ֖וֹ לְאָמָ֑ה לֹ֥א תֵצֵ֖א כְּצֵ֥את הָעֲבָדִֽים׃

DRB ⁸ Si elle déplaît aux yeux de son maître qui se l'était fiancée, il la fera racheter ; il n'aura pas le pouvoir de la vendre à un peuple étranger, après l'avoir trompée.

KJV ⁸ If she please not her master, who hath betrothed her to himself, then shall he let her be redeemed: to sell her unto a strange nation he shall have no power, seeing he hath dealt deceitfully with her.

VULC ⁸ Si displicuerit oculis domini sui cui tradita fuerat, dimittet eam : populo autem alieno vendendi non habebit potestatem, si spreverit eam.

WLC ⁸ אִם־ רָעָ֞ה בְּעֵינֵ֧י אֲדֹנֶ֛יהָ אֲשֶׁר־ יְעָדָ֖הּ וְהֶפְדָּ֑הּ לְעַ֥ם נָכְרִ֛י לֹא־ יִמְשֹׁ֥ל לְמָכְרָ֖הּ בְּבִגְדוֹ־ בָֽהּ׃

DRB ⁹ Et s'il l'a fiancée à son fils, il agira envers elle selon le droit des filles.

KJV ⁹ And if he have betrothed her unto his son, he shall deal with her after the manner of daughters.

VULC ⁹ Sin autem filio suo desponderit eam, juxta morem filiarum faciet illi.

WLC ⁹ וְאִם־ לִבְנ֖וֹ יִֽיעָדֶ֑נָּה כְּמִשְׁפַּ֥ט הַבָּנ֖וֹת יַעֲשֶׂה־ לָּֽהּ׃

DRB ¹⁰ S'il en prend une autre, il ne retranchera rien pour elle à sa nourriture, à son vêtement, et à son droit conjugal.

KJV ¹⁰ If he take him another wife; her food, her raiment, and her duty of marriage, shall he not diminish.

VULC ¹⁰ Quod si alteram ei acceperit, providebit puellæ nuptias, et vestimenta, et pretium pudicitiæ non negabit.

WLC ¹⁰ אִם־ אַחֶ֖רֶת יִֽקַּֽח־ ל֑וֹ שְׁאֵרָ֛הּ כְּסוּתָ֥הּ וְעֹנָתָ֖הּ לֹ֥א יִגְרָֽע׃

DRB ¹¹ Et s'il ne fait pas pour elle ces trois choses-là, elle sortira gratuitement, sans [payer aucun] argent.

KJV ¹¹ And if he do not these three unto her, then shall she go out free without money.

WLC ¹¹ וְאִם־ שְׁלָ֨שׁ־ אֵ֔לֶּה לֹ֥א יַעֲשֶׂ֖ה לָ֑הּ וְיָצְאָ֥ה חִנָּ֖ם אֵ֥ין כָּֽסֶף׃

DRB ¹² Si quelqu'un frappe un homme, et qu'il en meure, il sera certainement mis à mort.

KJV ¹² He that smiteth a man, so that he die, shall be surely put to death.

VULC ¹² Qui percusserit hominem volens occidere, morte moriatur.

WLC ¹² מַכֵּ֥ה אִ֛ישׁ וָמֵ֖ת מ֥וֹת יוּמָֽת׃

DRB ¹³ Mais s'il ne lui a pas dressé d'embûche, et que Dieu l'ait fait tomber sous ses mains, je t'établirai un lieu où il s'enfuira.

KJV ¹³ And if a man lie not in wait, but God deliver him into his hand; then I will appoint thee a place whither he shall flee.

VULC ¹³ Qui autem non est insidiatus, sed Deus illum tradidit in manus ejus, constituam tibi locum in quem fugere debeat.

DRB ¹⁴ Et si un homme s'élève de propos délibéré contre son prochain, pour le tuer par ruse, tu l'arracheras de mon autel, pour qu'il meure.

KJV ¹⁴ But if a man come presumptuously upon his neighbour, to slay him with guile; thou shalt take him from mine altar, that he may die.

VULC ¹⁴ Si quis per industriam occiderit proximum suum, et per insidias : ab altari meo evelles eum, ut moriatur.

DRB ¹⁵ Et celui qui frappera son père ou sa mère sera certainement mis à mort.

KJV ¹⁵ And he that smiteth his father, or his mother, shall be surely put to death.

WLC ¹⁵ וּמַכֵּ֥ה אָבִ֛יו וְאִמּ֖וֹ מ֥וֹת יוּמָֽת׃

DRB ¹⁶ Et si quelqu'un vole un homme et qu'il le vende, ou qu'il soit trouvé en sa main, il sera certainement mis à mort.

KJV ¹⁶ And he that stealeth a man, and selleth him, or if he be found in his hand, he shall surely be put to death.

DRB ¹⁷ Et celui qui maudit son père ou sa mère sera certainement mis à mort.

KJV ¹⁷ And he that curseth his father, or his mother, shall surely be put to death.

WLC ¹⁷ וּמְקַלֵּ֥ל אָבִ֛יו וְאִמּ֖וֹ מ֥וֹת יוּמָֽת׃

DRB ¹⁸ Et si des hommes contestent entre eux, et que l'un frappe l'autre avec une pierre ou avec le poing, et qu'il ne meure pas, mais tienne le lit :

KJV ¹⁸ And if men strive together, and one smite another with a stone, or with his fist, and he die not, but keepeth his bed:

VULC ¹⁸ Si rixati fuerint viri, et percusserit alter proximum suum lapide vel pugno, et ille mortuus non fuerit, sed jacuerit in lectulo :

WLC ¹⁸ וְכִֽי־ יְרִיבֻ֣ן אֲנָשִׁ֔ים וְהִכָּה־ אִישׁ֙ אֶת־ רֵעֵ֔הוּ בְּאֶ֖בֶן א֣וֹ בְאֶגְרֹ֑ף וְלֹ֥א יָמ֖וּת וְנָפַ֥ל לְמִשְׁכָּֽב׃

DRB ¹⁹ s'il se lève et marche dehors sur son bâton, celui qui l'a frappé sera tenu pour quitte ; seulement, il payera son chômage, et le fera guérir complètement.

KJV ¹⁹ If he rise again, and walk abroad upon his staff, then shall he that smote him be quit: only he shall pay for the loss of his time, and shall cause him to be thoroughly healed.

VULC ¹⁹ si surrexerit, et ambulaverit foris super baculum suum, innocens erit qui percusserit, ita tamen ut operas ejus et impensas in medicos restituat.

WLC ¹⁹ אִם־ יָק֞וּם וְהִתְהַלֵּ֥ךְ בַּח֛וּץ עַל־ מִשְׁעַנְתּ֖וֹ וְנִקָּ֣ה הַמַּכֶּ֑ה רַ֥ק שִׁבְתּ֛וֹ יִתֵּ֖ן וְרַפֹּ֥א יְרַפֵּֽא׃

DRB ²⁰ Et si quelqu'un frappe du bâton son serviteur ou sa servante, et qu'il meure sous sa main, il sera certainement vengé ;

KJV ²⁰ And if a man smite his servant, or his maid, with a rod, and he die under his hand; he shall be surely punished.

VULC ²⁰ Qui percusserit servum suum, vel ancillam virga, et mortui fuerint in manibus ejus, criminis reus erit.

WLC ²⁰ וְכִֽי־ יַכֶּה֩ אִ֨ישׁ אֶת־ עַבְדּ֜וֹ א֤וֹ אֶת־ אֲמָתוֹ֙ בַּשֵּׁ֔בֶט וּמֵ֖ת תַּ֣חַת יָד֑וֹ נָקֹ֖ם יִנָּקֵֽם׃

DRB ²¹ seulement, s'il reste debout un jour ou deux jours, il ne sera pas vengé, car il est son argent.

KJV ²¹ Notwithstanding, if he continue a day or two, he shall not be punished: for he is his money.

VULC ²¹ Sin autem uno die vel duobus supervixerit, non subjacebit pœnæ, quia pecunia illius est.

WLC ²¹ אַ֥ךְ אִם־ י֛וֹם א֥וֹ יוֹמַ֖יִם יַעֲמֹ֑ד לֹ֣א יֻקַּ֔ם כִּ֥י כַסְפּ֖וֹ הֽוּא׃
