KJV ¹⁶ And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that was in the camp trembled.

KJV ¹⁷ And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with God; and they stood at the nether part of the mount.

KJV ¹⁸ And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly.

OST ¹⁸ Or, le mont Sinaï était tout en fumée, parce que l'Éternel y était descendu dans le feu; et sa fumée montait comme la fumée d'une fournaise, et toute la montagne tremblait fort.

KJV ¹⁹ And when the voice of the trumpet sounded long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice.

KJV ²⁰ And the LORD came down upon mount Sinai, on the top of the mount: and the LORD called Moses up to the top of the mount; and Moses went up.

KJV ²¹ And the LORD said unto Moses, Go down, charge the people, lest they break through unto the LORD to gaze, and many of them perish.

OST ²¹ Et l'Éternel dit à Moïse: Descends, somme le peuple de ne point faire irruption vers l'Éternel, pour voir; de peur qu'un grand nombre d'entre eux ne périsse.

VULC ²¹ dixit ad eum : Descende, et contestare populum : ne forte velit transcendere terminos ad videndum Dominum, et pereat ex eis plurima multitudo.

KJV ²² And let the priests also, which come near to the LORD, sanctify themselves, lest the LORD break forth upon them.

OST ²² Et même, que les sacrificateurs qui s'approchent de l'Éternel, se sanctifient, de peur que l'Éternel ne les frappe.

KJV ²³ And Moses said unto the LORD, The people cannot come up to mount Sinai: for thou chargedst us, saying, Set bounds about the mount, and sanctify it.

OST ²³ Et Moïse dit à l'Éternel: Le peuple ne peut monter vers le mont Sinaï, car tu nous en as fait sommation, en disant: Fixe des limites autour de la montagne, et sanctifie-la.

KJV ²⁴ And the LORD said unto him, Away, get thee down, and thou shalt come up, thou, and Aaron with thee: but let not the priests and the people break through to come up unto the LORD, lest he break forth upon them.

OST ²⁴ Et l'Éternel lui dit: Va, descends; puis tu monteras, toi et Aaron avec toi; mais que les sacrificateurs et le peuple ne fassent pas irruption pour monter vers l'Éternel, de peur qu'il ne les frappe.

KJV ¹⁹ And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die.

KJV ²⁰ And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not.

KJV ²¹ And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God was.

WLC ²² וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהוָה֙ אֶל־ מֹשֶׁ֔ה כֹּ֥ה תֹאמַ֖ר אֶל־ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל אַתֶּ֣ם רְאִיתֶ֔ם כִּ֚י מִן־ הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם דִּבַּ֖רְתִּי עִמָּכֶֽם׃

KJV ²³ Ye shall not make with me gods of silver, neither shall ye make unto you gods of gold.

OST ²³ Vous ne ferez point, à côté de moi, des dieux d'argent, et vous ne ferez point des dieux d'or.

VULC ²³ Non facietis deos argenteos, nec deos aureos facietis vobis.

WLC ²³ לֹ֥א תַעֲשׂ֖וּן אִתִּ֑י אֱלֹ֤הֵי כֶ֙סֶף֙ וֵאלֹהֵ֣י זָהָ֔ב לֹ֥א תַעֲשׂ֖וּ לָכֶֽם׃

KJV ²⁴ An altar of earth thou shalt make unto me, and shalt sacrifice thereon thy burnt offerings, and thy peace offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen: in all places where I record my name I will come unto thee, and I will bless thee.

OST ²⁴ Tu me feras un autel de terre, sur lequel tu sacrifieras tes holocaustes et tes sacrifices de prospérité, tes brebis et tes taureaux. En tout lieu où je ferai célébrer mon nom, je viendrai à toi et je te bénirai.

VULC ²⁴ Altare de terra facietis mihi, et offeretis super eo holocausta et pacifica vestra, oves vestras et boves in omni loco in quo memoria fuerit nominis mei : veniam ad te, et benedicam tibi.

WLC ²⁴ מִזְבַּ֣ח אֲדָמָה֮ תַּעֲשֶׂה־ לִּי֒ וְזָבַחְתָּ֣ עָלָ֗יו אֶת־ עֹלֹתֶ֙יךָ֙ וְאֶת־ שְׁלָמֶ֔יךָ אֶת־ צֹֽאנְךָ֖ וְאֶת־ בְּקָרֶ֑ךָ בְּכָל־ הַמָּקוֹם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר אַזְכִּ֣יר אֶת־ שְׁמִ֔י אָב֥וֹא אֵלֶ֖יךָ וּבֵרַכְתִּֽיךָ׃

KJV ²⁵ And if thou wilt make me an altar of stone, thou shalt not build it of hewn stone: for if thou lift up thy tool upon it, thou hast polluted it.

OST ²⁵ Que si tu me fais un autel de pierres, tu ne les emploieras point taillées; car si tu levais sur elles ton fer, tu les souillerais.

VULC ²⁵ Quod si altare lapideum feceris mihi, non ædificabis illud de sectis lapidibus : si enim levaveris cultrum super eo, polluetur.

WLC ²⁵ וְאִם־ מִזְבַּ֤ח אֲבָנִים֙ תַּֽעֲשֶׂה־ לִּ֔י לֹֽא־ תִבְנֶ֥ה אֶתְהֶ֖ן גָּזִ֑ית כִּ֧י חַרְבְּךָ֛ הֵנַ֥פְתָּ עָלֶ֖יהָ וַתְּחַֽלְלֶֽהָ׃

KJV ²⁶ Neither shalt thou go up by steps unto mine altar, that thy nakedness be not discovered thereon.

OST ²⁶ Et tu ne monteras point à mon autel par des degrés, afin que ta nudité n'y soit pas découverte.

VULC ²⁶ Non ascendes per gradus ad altare meum, ne reveletur turpitudo tua.

WLC ²⁶ וְלֹֽא־ תַעֲלֶ֥ה בְמַעֲלֹ֖ת עַֽל־ מִזְבְּחִ֑י אֲשֶׁ֛ר לֹֽא־ תִגָּלֶ֥ה עֶרְוָתְךָ֖ עָלָֽיו׃

KJV ¹ Now these are the judgments which thou shalt set before them.

VULC ¹ Hæc sunt judicia quæ propones eis.

WLC ¹ וְאֵ֙לֶּה֙ הַמִּשְׁפָּטִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר תָּשִׂ֖ים לִפְנֵיהֶֽם׃

KJV ² If thou buy an Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing.

OST ² Si tu achètes un esclave hébreu, il servira six années, mais la septième il sortira libre, sans rien payer.

VULC ² Si emeris servum hebræum, sex annis serviet tibi : in septimo egredietur liber gratis.

WLC ² כִּ֤י תִקְנֶה֙ עֶ֣בֶד עִבְרִ֔י שֵׁ֥שׁ שָׁנִ֖ים יַעֲבֹ֑ד וּבַ֨שְּׁבִעִ֔ת יֵצֵ֥א לַֽחָפְשִׁ֖י חִנָּֽם׃

KJV ³ If he came in by himself, he shall go out by himself: if he were married, then his wife shall go out with him.

OST ³ S'il est venu seul, il sortira seul; s'il avait une femme, sa femme sortira avec lui.

VULC ³ Cum quali veste intraverit, cum tali exeat : si habens uxorem, et uxor egredietur simul.

WLC ³ אִם־ בְּגַפּ֥וֹ יָבֹ֖א בְּגַפּ֣וֹ יֵצֵ֑א אִם־ בַּ֤עַל אִשָּׁה֙ ה֔וּא וְיָצְאָ֥ה אִשְׁתּ֖וֹ עִמּֽוֹ׃

KJV ⁴ If his master have given him a wife, and she have born him sons or daughters; the wife and her children shall be her master's, and he shall go out by himself.

OST ⁴ Si son maître lui donne une femme, et qu'elle lui enfante des fils ou des filles, la femme et ses enfants seront au maître, et il sortira seul.

VULC ⁴ Sin autem dominus dederit illi uxorem, et pepererit filios et filias : mulier et liberi ejus erunt domini sui, ipse vero exibit cum vestitu suo.

KJV ⁵ And if the servant shall plainly say, I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free:

OST ⁵ Que si l'esclave dit: J'aime mon maître, ma femme et mes enfants; je ne veux pas sortir pour être libre;

VULC ⁵ Quod si dixerit servus : Diligo dominum meum et uxorem ac liberos ; non egrediar liber :

WLC ⁵ וְאִם־ אָמֹ֤ר יֹאמַר֙ הָעֶ֔בֶד אָהַ֙בְתִּי֙ אֶת־ אֲדֹנִ֔י אֶת־ אִשְׁתִּ֖י וְאֶת־ בָּנָ֑י לֹ֥א אֵצֵ֖א חָפְשִֽׁי׃

KJV ⁶ Then his master shall bring him unto the judges; he shall also bring him to the door, or unto the door post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an aul; and he shall serve him for ever.

OST ⁶ Alors son maître l'amènera devant Dieu et le fera approcher de la porte ou du poteau, et son maître lui percera l'oreille avec un poinçon, et il le servira toujours.

VULC ⁶ offeret eum dominus diis, et applicabitur ad ostium et postes, perforabitque aurem ejus subula : et erit ei servus in sæculum.

WLC ⁶ וְהִגִּישׁ֤וֹ אֲדֹנָיו֙ אֶל־ הָ֣אֱלֹהִ֔ים וְהִגִּישׁוֹ֙ אֶל־ הַדֶּ֔לֶת א֖וֹ אֶל־ הַמְּזוּזָ֑ה וְרָצַ֨ע אֲדֹנָ֤יו אֶת־ אָזְנוֹ֙ בַּמַּרְצֵ֔עַ וַעֲבָד֖וֹ לְעֹלָֽם׃

KJV ⁷ And if a man sell his daughter to be a maidservant, she shall not go out as the menservants do.

OST ⁷ Si quelqu'un vend sa fille pour être esclave, elle ne sortira point comme sortent les esclaves.

VULC ⁷ Si quis vendiderit filiam suam in famulam, non egredietur sicut ancillæ exire consueverunt.

WLC ⁷ וְכִֽי־ יִמְכֹּ֥ר אִ֛ישׁ אֶת־ בִּתּ֖וֹ לְאָמָ֑ה לֹ֥א תֵצֵ֖א כְּצֵ֥את הָעֲבָדִֽים׃

KJV ⁸ If she please not her master, who hath betrothed her to himself, then shall he let her be redeemed: to sell her unto a strange nation he shall have no power, seeing he hath dealt deceitfully with her.

OST ⁸ Si elle déplaît à son maître, qui se l'était destinée, il la fera racheter; il n'aura point le pouvoir de la vendre à un peuple étranger, après l'avoir trompée.

VULC ⁸ Si displicuerit oculis domini sui cui tradita fuerat, dimittet eam : populo autem alieno vendendi non habebit potestatem, si spreverit eam.

WLC ⁸ אִם־ רָעָ֞ה בְּעֵינֵ֧י אֲדֹנֶ֛יהָ אֲשֶׁר־ יְעָדָ֖הּ וְהֶפְדָּ֑הּ לְעַ֥ם נָכְרִ֛י לֹא־ יִמְשֹׁ֥ל לְמָכְרָ֖הּ בְּבִגְדוֹ־ בָֽהּ׃

KJV ⁹ And if he have betrothed her unto his son, he shall deal with her after the manner of daughters.

OST ⁹ Mais s'il la destine à son fils, il fera pour elle selon le droit des filles.

VULC ⁹ Sin autem filio suo desponderit eam, juxta morem filiarum faciet illi.

WLC ⁹ וְאִם־ לִבְנ֖וֹ יִֽיעָדֶ֑נָּה כְּמִשְׁפַּ֥ט הַבָּנ֖וֹת יַעֲשֶׂה־ לָּֽהּ׃

KJV ¹⁰ If he take him another wife; her food, her raiment, and her duty of marriage, shall he not diminish.

OST ¹⁰ S'il en prend une autre, il ne retranchera rien pour la première à la nourriture, au vêtement, ni à la cohabitation.

VULC ¹⁰ Quod si alteram ei acceperit, providebit puellæ nuptias, et vestimenta, et pretium pudicitiæ non negabit.

WLC ¹⁰ אִם־ אַחֶ֖רֶת יִֽקַּֽח־ ל֑וֹ שְׁאֵרָ֛הּ כְּסוּתָ֥הּ וְעֹנָתָ֖הּ לֹ֥א יִגְרָֽע׃

KJV ¹¹ And if he do not these three unto her, then shall she go out free without money.

OST ¹¹ Et s'il ne lui fait pas ces trois choses, elle sortira gratuitement, sans argent.

KJV ¹² He that smiteth a man, so that he die, shall be surely put to death.

OST ¹² Celui qui frappe un homme à mort, sera puni de mort.

VULC ¹² Qui percusserit hominem volens occidere, morte moriatur.

WLC ¹² מַכֵּ֥ה אִ֛ישׁ וָמֵ֖ת מ֥וֹת יוּמָֽת׃

KJV ¹³ And if a man lie not in wait, but God deliver him into his hand; then I will appoint thee a place whither he shall flee.

OST ¹³ Que s'il ne lui a point dressé d'embûches, mais que Dieu l'ait fait se rencontrer sous sa main, je t'établirai un lieu où il se réfugiera.

VULC ¹³ Qui autem non est insidiatus, sed Deus illum tradidit in manus ejus, constituam tibi locum in quem fugere debeat.

WLC ¹³ וַאֲשֶׁר֙ לֹ֣א צָדָ֔ה וְהָאֱלֹהִ֖ים אִנָּ֣ה לְיָד֑וֹ וְשַׂמְתִּ֤י לְךָ֙ מָק֔וֹם אֲשֶׁ֥ר יָנ֖וּס שָֽׁמָּה׃

KJV ¹⁴ But if a man come presumptuously upon his neighbour, to slay him with guile; thou shalt take him from mine altar, that he may die.

OST ¹⁴ Mais si quelqu'un s'est élevé contre son prochain, pour le tuer par ruse, tu le prendras même d'auprès de mon autel, afin qu'il meure.

KJV ¹⁵ And he that smiteth his father, or his mother, shall be surely put to death.

KJV ¹⁸ And if men strive together, and one smite another with a stone, or with his fist, and he die not, but keepeth his bed:

OST ¹⁸ Quand des hommes se querelleront, et que l'un frappera l'autre d'une pierre, ou du poing, de telle sorte qu'il n'en meure pas, mais qu'il soit obligé de se mettre au lit;

WLC ¹⁸ וְכִֽי־ יְרִיבֻ֣ן אֲנָשִׁ֔ים וְהִכָּה־ אִישׁ֙ אֶת־ רֵעֵ֔הוּ בְּאֶ֖בֶן א֣וֹ בְאֶגְרֹ֑ף וְלֹ֥א יָמ֖וּת וְנָפַ֥ל לְמִשְׁכָּֽב׃

KJV ¹⁹ If he rise again, and walk abroad upon his staff, then shall he that smote him be quit: only he shall pay for the loss of his time, and shall cause him to be thoroughly healed.

OST ¹⁹ S'il se lève, et marche dehors, appuyé sur son bâton, celui qui l'aura frappé sera absous; seulement il paiera son chômage, et le fera guérir entièrement.

WLC ¹⁹ אִם־ יָק֞וּם וְהִתְהַלֵּ֥ךְ בַּח֛וּץ עַל־ מִשְׁעַנְתּ֖וֹ וְנִקָּ֣ה הַמַּכֶּ֑ה רַ֥ק שִׁבְתּ֛וֹ יִתֵּ֖ן וְרַפֹּ֥א יְרַפֵּֽא׃

KJV ²⁰ And if a man smite his servant, or his maid, with a rod, and he die under his hand; he shall be surely punished.

OST ²⁰ Quand un homme frappera son serviteur, ou sa servante, avec le bâton, et qu'ils mourront sous sa main, il ne manquera pas d'être puni.

VULC ²⁰ Qui percusserit servum suum, vel ancillam virga, et mortui fuerint in manibus ejus, criminis reus erit.

WLC ²⁰ וְכִֽי־ יַכֶּה֩ אִ֨ישׁ אֶת־ עַבְדּ֜וֹ א֤וֹ אֶת־ אֲמָתוֹ֙ בַּשֵּׁ֔בֶט וּמֵ֖ת תַּ֣חַת יָד֑וֹ נָקֹ֖ם יִנָּקֵֽם׃

KJV ²¹ Notwithstanding, if he continue a day or two, he shall not be punished: for he is his money.

OST ²¹ Mais s'ils survivent un jour ou deux, il ne sera pas puni, car c'est son argent.

VULC ²¹ Sin autem uno die vel duobus supervixerit, non subjacebit pœnæ, quia pecunia illius est.
