KJV ¹ If a man shall steal an ox, or a sheep, and kill it, or sell it; he shall restore five oxen for an ox, and four sheep for a sheep.

KJV ² If a thief be found breaking up, and be smitten that he die, there shall no blood be shed for him.

MAR ² Que si le larron est trouvé en fracture, et est frappé de sorte qu'il en meure, celui qui l'aura frappé ne sera point coupable de meurtre.

KJV ³ If the sun be risen upon him, there shall be blood shed for him; for he should make full restitution; if he have nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft.

MAR ³ [Mais] si le soleil est levé sur lui, il sera coupable de meurtre. Il fera donc une entière restitution ; [et] s'il n'a de quoi, il sera vendu pour son larcin.

WLC ³ אִֽם־ הִמָּצֵא֩ תִמָּצֵ֨א בְיָד֜וֹ הַגְּנֵבָ֗ה מִשּׁ֧וֹר עַד־ חֲמ֛וֹר עַד־ שֶׂ֖ה חַיִּ֑ים שְׁנַ֖יִם יְשַׁלֵּֽם׃

KJV ⁴ If the theft be certainly found in his hand alive, whether it be ox, or ass, or sheep; he shall restore double.

MAR ⁴ Si ce qui a été dérobé est trouvé vivant entre ses mains, soit boeuf, soit âne, soit brebis ou chèvre, il rendra le double.

KJV ⁵ If a man shall cause a field or vineyard to be eaten, and shall put in his beast, and shall feed in another man's field; of the best of his own field, and of the best of his own vineyard, shall he make restitution.

MAR ⁵ Si quelqu'un fait manger un champ ou une vigne, en lâchant son bétail, qui aille paître dans le champ d'autrui, il rendra du meilleur de son champ, et du meilleur de sa vigne.

WLC ⁵ כִּֽי־ תֵצֵ֨א אֵ֜שׁ וּמָצְאָ֤ה קֹצִים֙ וְנֶאֱכַ֣ל גָּדִ֔ישׁ א֥וֹ הַקָּמָ֖ה א֣וֹ הַשָּׂדֶ֑ה שַׁלֵּ֣ם יְשַׁלֵּ֔ם הַמַּבְעִ֖ר אֶת־ הַבְּעֵרָֽה׃

KJV ⁶ If fire break out, and catch in thorns, so that the stacks of corn, or the standing corn, or the field, be consumed therewith; he that kindled the fire shall surely make restitution.

MAR ⁶ Si le feu sort, et trouve des épines, et que le blé qui est en tas, ou sur pied, ou le champ, soit consumé, celui qui aura allumé le feu rendra entièrement ce qui en aura été brûlé.

WLC ⁶ כִּֽי־ יִתֵּן֩ אִ֨ישׁ אֶל־ רֵעֵ֜הוּ כֶּ֤סֶף אֽוֹ־ כֵלִים֙ לִשְׁמֹ֔ר וְגֻנַּ֖ב מִבֵּ֣ית הָאִ֑ישׁ אִם־ יִמָּצֵ֥א הַגַּנָּ֖ב יְשַׁלֵּ֥ם שְׁנָֽיִם׃

KJV ⁷ If a man shall deliver unto his neighbour money or stuff to keep, and it be stolen out of the man's house; if the thief be found, let him pay double.

MAR ⁷ Si quelqu'un donne à son prochain de l'argent ou des vases à garder, et qu'on le dérobe de sa maison, si l'on trouve le larron, il rendra le double.

KJV ⁸ If the thief be not found, then the master of the house shall be brought unto the judges, to see whether he have put his hand unto his neighbour's goods.

MAR ⁸ [Mais] si le larron ne se trouve point, on fera venir le maître de la maison devant les Juges [ pour jurer] s'il n'a point mis sa main sur le bien de son prochain.

WLC ⁸ עַֽל־ כָּל־ דְּבַר־ פֶּ֡שַׁע עַל־ שׁ֡וֹר עַל־ חֲ֠מוֹר עַל־ שֶׂ֨ה עַל־ שַׂלְמָ֜ה עַל־ כָּל־ אֲבֵדָ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֤ר יֹאמַר֙ כִּי־ ה֣וּא זֶ֔ה עַ֚ד הָֽאֱלֹהִ֔ים יָבֹ֖א דְּבַר־ שְׁנֵיהֶ֑ם אֲשֶׁ֤ר יַרְשִׁיעֻן֙ אֱלֹהִ֔ים יְשַׁלֵּ֥ם שְׁנַ֖יִם לְרֵעֵֽהוּ׃

KJV ⁹ For all manner of trespass, whether it be for ox, for ass, for sheep, for raiment, or for any manner of lost thing which another challengeth to be his, the cause of both parties shall come before the judges; and whom the judges shall condemn, he shall pay double unto his neighbour.

MAR ⁹ Quand il sera question de quelque chose où il y ait prévarication, touchant un boeuf, ou un âne, ou une brebis, ou une chèvre, ou un vêtement, même touchant toute chose perdue, dont [quelqu'un] dira qu'elle lui appartient, la cause des deux [parties] viendra devant les Juges ; et celui que les Juges auront condamné, rendra le double à son prochain.

KJV ¹⁰ If a man deliver unto his neighbour an ass, or an ox, or a sheep, or any beast, to keep; and it die, or be hurt, or driven away, no man seeing it:

WLC ¹⁰ שְׁבֻעַ֣ת יְהוָ֗ה תִּהְיֶה֙ בֵּ֣ין שְׁנֵיהֶ֔ם אִם־ לֹ֥א שָׁלַ֛ח יָד֖וֹ בִּמְלֶ֣אכֶת רֵעֵ֑הוּ וְלָקַ֥ח בְּעָלָ֖יו וְלֹ֥א יְשַׁלֵּֽם׃

KJV ¹¹ Then shall an oath of the LORD be between them both, that he hath not put his hand unto his neighbour's goods; and the owner of it shall accept thereof, and he shall not make it good.

MAR ¹¹ Le jurement de l'Eternel interviendra entre les deux [parties, pour savoir] s'il n'a point mis sa main sur le bien de son prochain, et le maître [de la bête] se contentera [du serment], et [l'autre] ne [la] rendra point.

WLC ¹¹ וְאִם־ גָּנֹ֥ב יִגָּנֵ֖ב מֵעִמּ֑וֹ יְשַׁלֵּ֖ם לִבְעָלָֽיו׃

KJV ¹² And if it be stolen from him, he shall make restitution unto the owner thereof.

KJV ¹³ If it be torn in pieces, then let him bring it for witness, and he shall not make good that which was torn.

KJV ¹⁴ And if a man borrow ought of his neighbour, and it be hurt, or die, the owner thereof being not with it, he shall surely make it good.

MAR ¹⁴ Si quelqu'un a emprunté de son prochain quelque bête, et qu'elle se casse [quelque membre], ou qu'elle meure, son maître n'y étant point présent, il ne manquera pas de la rendre.

WLC ¹⁴ אִם־ בְּעָלָ֥יו עִמּ֖וֹ לֹ֣א יְשַׁלֵּ֑ם אִם־ שָׂכִ֣יר ה֔וּא בָּ֖א בִּשְׂכָרֽוֹ׃

KJV ¹⁵ But if the owner thereof be with it, he shall not make it good: if it be an hired thing, it came for his hire.

KJV ¹⁶ And if a man entice a maid that is not betrothed, and lie with her, he shall surely endow her to be his wife.

KJV ¹⁷ If her father utterly refuse to give her unto him, he shall pay money according to the dowry of virgins.

KJV ²⁰ He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the LORD only, he shall be utterly destroyed.

KJV ²¹ Thou shalt neither vex a stranger, nor oppress him: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.

KJV ²⁴ And my wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.

KJV ²⁵ If thou lend money to any of my people that is poor by thee, thou shalt not be to him as an usurer, neither shalt thou lay upon him usury.

KJV ²⁶ If thou at all take thy neighbour's raiment to pledge, thou shalt deliver it unto him by that the sun goeth down:

KJV ²⁷ For that is his covering only, it is his raiment for his skin: wherein shall he sleep? and it shall come to pass, when he crieth unto me, that I will hear; for I am gracious.

KJV ²⁹ Thou shalt not delay to offer the first of thy ripe fruits, and of thy liquors: the firstborn of thy sons shalt thou give unto me.

KJV ³⁰ Likewise shalt thou do with thine oxen, and with thy sheep: seven days it shall be with his dam; on the eighth day thou shalt give it me.

KJV ³¹ And ye shall be holy men unto me: neither shall ye eat any flesh that is torn of beasts in the field; ye shall cast it to the dogs.

MAR ³¹ Vous me serez saints ; et vous ne mangerez point de la chair déchirée aux champs, [mais] vous la jetterez aux chiens.

KJV ¹ Thou shalt not raise a false report: put not thine hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness.

KJV ² Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest judgment:

MAR ² Tu ne suivras point la multitude pour mal faire ; et tu ne répondras point dans un procès en sorte que tu te détournes après plusieurs pour pervertir [le droit].

WLC ² לֹֽא־ תִהְיֶ֥ה אַחֲרֵֽי־ רַבִּ֖ים לְרָעֹ֑ת וְלֹא־ תַעֲנֶ֣ה עַל־ רִ֗ב לִנְטֹ֛ת אַחֲרֵ֥י רַבִּ֖ים לְהַטֹּֽת׃

KJV ³ Neither shalt thou countenance a poor man in his cause.

MAR ³ Tu n'honoreras point le pauvre en son procès.

WLC ³ וְדָ֕ל לֹ֥א תֶהְדַּ֖ר בְּרִיבֽוֹ׃

KJV ⁴ If thou meet thine enemy's ox or his ass going astray, thou shalt surely bring it back to him again.

MAR ⁴ Si tu rencontres le boeuf de ton ennemi, ou son âne égaré, tu ne manqueras point de le lui ramener.

KJV ⁵ If thou see the ass of him that hateth thee lying under his burden, and wouldest forbear to help him, thou shalt surely help with him.

KJV ⁶ Thou shalt not wrest the judgment of thy poor in his cause.

WLC ⁶ לֹ֥א תַטֶּ֛ה מִשְׁפַּ֥ט אֶבְיֹנְךָ֖ בְּרִיבֽוֹ׃

KJV ⁷ Keep thee far from a false matter; and the innocent and righteous slay thou not: for I will not justify the wicked.

MAR ⁷ Tu t'éloigneras de [toute] parole fausse, et tu ne feras point mourir l'innocent et le juste ; car je ne justifierai point le méchant.

KJV ⁸ And thou shalt take no gift: for the gift blindeth the wise, and perverteth the words of the righteous.

KJV ⁹ Also thou shalt not oppress a stranger: for ye know the heart of a stranger, seeing ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.

KJV ¹⁰ And six years thou shalt sow thy land, and shalt gather in the fruits thereof:

MAR ¹⁰ Pendant six ans tu sèmeras ta terre, et en recueilleras le revenu.

WLC ¹⁰ וְשֵׁ֥שׁ שָׁנִ֖ים תִּזְרַ֣ע אֶת־ אַרְצֶ֑ךָ וְאָסַפְתָּ֖ אֶת־ תְּבוּאָתָֽהּ׃

KJV ¹¹ But the seventh year thou shalt let it rest and lie still; that the poor of thy people may eat: and what they leave the beasts of the field shall eat. In like manner thou shalt deal with thy vineyard, and with thy oliveyard.

KJV ¹² Six days thou shalt do thy work, and on the seventh day thou shalt rest: that thine ox and thine ass may rest, and the son of thy handmaid, and the stranger, may be refreshed.

KJV ¹⁶ And the feast of harvest, the firstfruits of thy labours, which thou hast sown in the field: and the feast of ingathering, which is in the end of the year, when thou hast gathered in thy labours out of the field.

KJV ²² But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries.

KJV ²⁵ And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.

KJV ²⁶ There shall nothing cast their young, nor be barren, in thy land: the number of thy days I will fulfil.

KJV ²⁷ I will send my fear before thee, and will destroy all the people to whom thou shalt come, and I will make all thine enemies turn their backs unto thee.

KJV ²⁸ And I will send hornets before thee, which shall drive out the Hivite, the Canaanite, and the Hittite, from before thee.

KJV ²⁹ I will not drive them out from before thee in one year; lest the land become desolate, and the beast of the field multiply against thee.

KJV ³⁰ By little and little I will drive them out from before thee, until thou be increased, and inherit the land.

KJV ³¹ And I will set thy bounds from the Red sea even unto the sea of the Philistines, and from the desert unto the river: for I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand; and thou shalt drive them out before thee.

KJV ³² Thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor with their gods.

KJV ³ And Moses came and told the people all the words of the LORD, and all the judgments: and all the people answered with one voice, and said, All the words which the LORD hath said will we do.

KJV ⁴ And Moses wrote all the words of the LORD, and rose up early in the morning, and builded an altar under the hill, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel.

KJV ⁵ And he sent young men of the children of Israel, which offered burnt offerings, and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen unto the LORD.

KJV ⁶ And Moses took half of the blood, and put it in basons; and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar.

KJV ⁷ And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that the LORD hath said will we do, and be obedient.

KJV ⁸ And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the LORD hath made with you concerning all these words.

KJV ¹⁰ And they saw the God of Israel: and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone, and as it were the body of heaven in his clearness.

KJV ¹¹ And upon the nobles of the children of Israel he laid not his hand: also they saw God, and did eat and drink.

WLC ¹¹ וְאֶל־ אֲצִילֵי֙ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל לֹ֥א שָׁלַ֖ח יָד֑וֹ וַֽיֶּחֱזוּ֙ אֶת־ הָ֣אֱלֹהִ֔ים וַיֹּאכְל֖וּ וַיִּשְׁתּֽוּ׃

KJV ¹² And the LORD said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law, and commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them.

MAR ¹² Et l'Eternel dit à Moïse : monte vers moi sur la montagne, et demeure là ; et je te donnerai des tables de pierre, et la loi et les commandements que j'ai écrits, pour les enseigner.

WLC ¹² וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוָ֜ה אֶל־ מֹשֶׁ֗ה עֲלֵ֥ה אֵלַ֛י הָהָ֖רָה וֶהְיֵה־ שָׁ֑ם וְאֶתְּנָ֨ה לְךָ֜ אֶת־ לֻחֹ֣ת הָאֶ֗בֶן וְהַתּוֹרָה֙ וְהַמִּצְוָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר כָּתַ֖בְתִּי לְהוֹרֹתָֽם׃

KJV ¹³ And Moses rose up, and his minister Joshua: and Moses went up into the mount of God.

MAR ¹³ Alors Moïse se leva avec Josué qui le servait ; et Moïse monta sur la montagne de Dieu ;

WLC ¹³ וַיָּ֣קָם מֹשֶׁ֔ה וִיהוֹשֻׁ֖עַ מְשָׁרְת֑וֹ וַיַּ֥עַל מֹשֶׁ֖ה אֶל־ הַ֥ר הָאֱלֹהִֽים׃

KJV ¹⁴ And he said unto the elders, Tarry ye here for us, until we come again unto you: and, behold, Aaron and Hur are with you: if any man have any matters to do, let him come unto them.

MAR ¹⁴ Et il dit aux Anciens d'Israël : Demeurez ici en nous attendant ; jusqu'à ce que nous retournions vers vous ; et voici, Aaron et Hur seront avec vous ; quiconque aura quelque affaire, qu'il s'adresse à eux.

WLC ¹⁴ וְאֶל־ הַזְּקֵנִ֤ים אָמַר֙ שְׁבוּ־ לָ֣נוּ בָזֶ֔ה עַ֥ד אֲשֶׁר־ נָשׁ֖וּב אֲלֵיכֶ֑ם וְהִנֵּ֨ה אַהֲרֹ֤ן וְחוּר֙ עִמָּכֶ֔ם מִי־ בַ֥עַל דְּבָרִ֖ים יִגַּ֥שׁ אֲלֵהֶֽם׃

KJV ¹⁵ And Moses went up into the mount, and a cloud covered the mount.

MAR ¹⁵ Moïse donc monta sur la montagne, et une nuée couvrit la montagne.

WLC ¹⁵ וַיַּ֥עַל מֹשֶׁ֖ה אֶל־ הָהָ֑ר וַיְכַ֥ס הֶעָנָ֖ן אֶת־ הָהָֽר׃

KJV ¹⁶ And the glory of the LORD abode upon mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days: and the seventh day he called unto Moses out of the midst of the cloud.

MAR ¹⁶ Et la gloire de l'Eternel demeura sur la montagne de Sinaï, et la nuée la couvrit pendant six jours ; et au septième jour il appela Moïse au milieu de la nuée.

WLC ¹⁶ וַיִּשְׁכֹּ֤ן כְּבוֹד־ יְהוָה֙ עַל־ הַ֣ר סִינַ֔י וַיְכַסֵּ֥הוּ הֶעָנָ֖ן שֵׁ֣שֶׁת יָמִ֑ים וַיִּקְרָ֧א אֶל־ מֹשֶׁ֛ה בַּיּ֥וֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִ֖י מִתּ֥וֹךְ הֶעָנָֽן׃

KJV ¹⁷ And the sight of the glory of the LORD was like devouring fire on the top of the mount in the eyes of the children of Israel.

MAR ¹⁷ Et ce qu'on voyait de la gloire de l'Eternel au sommet de la montagne, était comme un feu consumant, les enfants d'Israël le voyant.

WLC ¹⁷ וּמַרְאֵה֙ כְּב֣וֹד יְהוָ֔ה כְּאֵ֥שׁ אֹכֶ֖לֶת בְּרֹ֣אשׁ הָהָ֑ר לְעֵינֵ֖י בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

KJV ¹⁸ And Moses went into the midst of the cloud, and gat him up into the mount: and Moses was in the mount forty days and forty nights.

MAR ¹⁸ Et Moïse entra dans la nuée, et monta sur la montagne ; et Moïse fut sur la montagne quarante jours et quarante nuits.

WLC ¹⁸ וַיָּבֹ֥א מֹשֶׁ֛ה בְּת֥וֹךְ הֶעָנָ֖ן וַיַּ֣עַל אֶל־ הָהָ֑ר וַיְהִ֤י מֹשֶׁה֙ בָּהָ֔ר אַרְבָּעִ֣ים י֔וֹם וְאַרְבָּעִ֖ים לָֽיְלָה׃
