³ Tout le monde ôta les anneaux d'or qu'ils avaient aux oreilles, et ils les apportèrent à Aaron. ⁴ Il les reçut de leurs mains façonna l'or au burin, et en fit un veau en fonte. Et ils dirent : "Israël, voici ton Dieu, qui t'a fait monter du pays d'Égypte." ⁵ Ayant vu cela, Aaron construisit un autel devant l'image, et il s'écria : "Demain il y aura fête en l'honneur de Yahweh." ⁶ Le lendemain, s'étant levés de bon matin, ils offrirent des holocaustes et présentèrent des sacrifices pacifiques ; et le peuple s'assit pour manger et pour boire, puis ils se levèrent pour se divertir.

³ And all the people brake off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron. ⁴ And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. ⁵ And when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, To morrow is a feast to the LORD. ⁶ And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play.

   ³ Fecitque populus quæ jusserat, deferens inaures ad Aaron.
   ⁴ Quas cum ille accepisset, formavit opere fusorio, et fecit ex eis vitulum conflatilem : dixeruntque : Hi sunt dii tui Israël, qui te eduxerunt de terra Ægypti.
   ⁵ Quod cum vidisset Aaron, ædificavit altare coram eo, et præconis voce clamavit dicens : Cras solemnitas Domini est.
   ⁶ Surgentesque mane, obtulerunt holocausta, et hostias pacificas, et sedit populus manducare, et bibere, et surrexerunt ludere.
