   ¹⁰ And Moses said unto the LORD, O my LORD, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue. ¹¹ And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD? ¹² Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say. ¹³ And he said, O my LORD, send, I pray thee, by the hand of him whom thou wilt send. ¹⁴ And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Moses, and he said, Is not Aaron the Levite thy brother? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee: and when he seeth thee, he will be glad in his heart. ¹⁵ And thou shalt speak unto him, and put words in his mouth: and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do. ¹⁶ And he shall be thy spokesman unto the people: and he shall be, even he shall be to thee instead of a mouth, and thou shalt be to him instead of God. ¹⁷ And thou shalt take this rod in thine hand, wherewith thou shalt do signs.

¹⁰ Moïse dit à l'Eternel: Ah! Seigneur, je ne suis pas un homme qui ait la parole facile, et ce n'est ni d'hier ni d'avant-hier, ni même depuis que tu parles à ton serviteur; car j'ai la bouche et la langue embarrassées. ¹¹ L'Eternel lui dit: Qui a fait la bouche de l'homme? et qui rend muet ou sourd, voyant ou aveugle? N'est-ce pas moi, l'Eternel? ¹² Va donc, je serai avec ta bouche, et je t'enseignerai ce que tu auras à dire. ¹³ Moïse dit: Ah! Seigneur, envoie qui tu voudras envoyer. ¹⁴ Alors la colère de l'Eternel s'enflamma contre Moïse, et il dit: N'y a-t-il pas ton frère Aaron, le Lévite? Je sais qu'il parlera facilement. Le voici lui-même, qui vient au-devant de toi; et, quand il te verra, il se réjouira dans son cœur. ¹⁵ Tu lui parleras, et tu mettras les paroles dans sa bouche; et moi, je serai avec ta bouche et avec sa bouche, et je vous enseignerai ce que vous aurez à faire. ¹⁶ Il parlera pour toi au peuple; il te servira de bouche, et tu tiendras pour lui la place de Dieu. ¹⁷ Prends dans ta main cette verge, avec laquelle tu feras les signes.

¹⁰ Moïse dit à l'Eternel: «Ah, Seigneur, je ne suis pas un homme doué pour parler et cela ne date ni d'hier ni d'avant-hier, ni même du moment où tu as parlé à ton serviteur. En effet, j'ai la bouche et la langue embarrassées.» ¹¹ L'Eternel lui dit: «Qui a donné une bouche à l'homme? Qui rend muet ou sourd, capable de voir ou aveugle? N'est-ce pas moi, l'Eternel? ¹² Maintenant, vas-y! Je serai moi-même avec ta bouche et je t'enseignerai ce que tu devras dire.»
¹³ Moïse dit: «Ah, Seigneur, envoie quelqu'un d'autre que moi!» ¹⁴ Alors la colère de l'Eternel s'enflamma contre Moïse. Il dit: «N'y a-t-il pas ton frère Aaron, le Lévite? Je sais qu'il parlera facilement, lui. Le voici même qui vient à ta rencontre. Quand il te verra, il se réjouira dans son cœur. ¹⁵ Tu lui parleras et tu mettras les paroles dans sa bouche, et moi, je serai avec ta bouche et avec sa bouche et je vous enseignerai ce que vous devrez faire. ¹⁶ C'est lui qui parlera pour toi au peuple: il te servira de bouche et toi, tu tiendras pour lui la place de Dieu. ¹⁷ Prends ce bâton dans ta main. C'est avec lui que tu accompliras les signes.»
