KJV ¹ And afterward Moses and Aaron went in, and told Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Let my people go, that they may hold a feast unto me in the wilderness.

KJV ⁶ And Pharaoh commanded the same day the taskmasters of the people, and their officers, saying,

KJV ⁷ Ye shall no more give the people straw to make brick, as heretofore: let them go and gather straw for themselves.

VULC ⁷ Nequaquam ultra dabitis paleas populo ad conficiendos lateres, sicut prius : sed ipsi vadant, et colligant stipulas.

KJV ⁸ And the tale of the bricks, which they did make heretofore, ye shall lay upon them; ye shall not diminish ought thereof: for they be idle; therefore they cry, saying, Let us go and sacrifice to our God.

VULC ⁸ Et mensuram laterum, quam prius faciebant, imponetis super eos, nec minuetis quidquam : vacant enim, et idcirco vociferantur, dicentes : Eamus, et sacrificemus Deo nostro.

KJV ⁹ Let there more work be laid upon the men, that they may labour therein; and let them not regard vain words.

KJV ¹⁰ And the taskmasters of the people went out, and their officers, and they spake to the people, saying, Thus saith Pharaoh, I will not give you straw.

KJV ¹¹ Go ye, get you straw where ye can find it: yet not ought of your work shall be diminished.

KJV ¹² So the people were scattered abroad throughout all the land of Egypt to gather stubble instead of straw.

KJV ¹³ And the taskmasters hasted them, saying, Fulfil your works, your daily tasks, as when there was straw.

VULC ¹³ Præfecti quoque operum instabant, dicentes : Complete opus vestrum quotidie, ut prius facere solebatis quando dabantur vobis paleæ.

KJV ¹⁴ And the officers of the children of Israel, which Pharaoh's taskmasters had set over them, were beaten, and demanded, Wherefore have ye not fulfilled your task in making brick both yesterday and to day, as heretofore?

KJV ¹⁵ Then the officers of the children of Israel came and cried unto Pharaoh, saying, Wherefore dealest thou thus with thy servants?

KJV ¹⁶ There is no straw given unto thy servants, and they say to us, Make brick: and, behold, thy servants are beaten; but the fault is in thine own people.

KJV ¹⁹ And the officers of the children of Israel did see that they were in evil case, after it was said, Ye shall not minish ought from your bricks of your daily task.

KJV ²⁰ And they met Moses and Aaron, who stood in the way, as they came forth from Pharaoh:

KJV ²¹ And they said unto them, The LORD look upon you, and judge; because ye have made our savour to be abhorred in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of his servants, to put a sword in their hand to slay us.

KJV ⁹ When Pharaoh shall speak unto you, saying, Shew a miracle for you: then thou shalt say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and cast it before Pharaoh, and it shall become a serpent.

VULC ⁹ Cum dixerit vobis Pharao, Ostendite signa : dices ad Aaron : Tolle virgam tuam, et projice eam coram Pharaone, ac vertetur in colubrum.

KJV ¹⁰ And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as the LORD had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent.

KJV ¹³ And he hardened Pharaoh's heart, that he hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had said.

KJV ¹⁴ And the LORD said unto Moses, Pharaoh's heart is hardened, he refuseth to let the people go.

KJV ¹⁵ Get thee unto Pharaoh in the morning; lo, he goeth out unto the water; and thou shalt stand by the river's brink against he come; and the rod which was turned to a serpent shalt thou take in thine hand.

VULC ¹⁵ Vade ad eum mane, ecce egredietur ad aquas : et stabis in occursum ejus super ripam fluminis : et virgam quæ conversa est in draconem, tolles in manu tua.

KJV ¹⁶ And thou shalt say unto him, The LORD God of the Hebrews hath sent me unto thee, saying, Let my people go, that they may serve me in the wilderness: and, behold, hitherto thou wouldest not hear.

KJV ¹⁸ And the fish that is in the river shall die, and the river shall stink; and the Egyptians shall lothe to drink of the water of the river.

KJV ¹⁹ And the LORD spake unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and stretch out thine hand upon the waters of Egypt, upon their streams, upon their rivers, and upon their ponds, and upon all their pools of water, that they may become blood; and that there may be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood, and in vessels of stone.

VULC ¹⁹ Dixit quoque Dominus ad Moysen : Dic ad Aaron : Tolle virgam tuam, et extende manum tuam super aquas Ægypti, et super fluvios eorum, et rivos ac paludes, et omnes lacus aquarum, ut vertantur in sanguinem : et sit cruor in omni terra Ægypti, tam in ligneis vasis quam in saxeis.

KJV ²⁰ And Moses and Aaron did so, as the LORD commanded; and he lifted up the rod, and smote the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh, and in the sight of his servants; and all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood.

VULC ²⁰ Feceruntque Moyses et Aaron sicut præceperat Dominus : et elevans virgam percussit aquam fluminis coram Pharaone et servis ejus : quæ versa est in sanguinem.

KJV ²¹ And the fish that was in the river died; and the river stank, and the Egyptians could not drink of the water of the river; and there was blood throughout all the land of Egypt.

KJV ²² And the magicians of Egypt did so with their enchantments: and Pharaoh's heart was hardened, neither did he hearken unto them; as the LORD had said.

KJV ²³ And Pharaoh turned and went into his house, neither did he set his heart to this also.

KJV ²⁴ And all the Egyptians digged round about the river for water to drink; for they could not drink of the water of the river.

KJV ²⁵ And seven days were fulfilled, after that the LORD had smitten the river.

VULC ²⁵ Impletique sunt septem dies, postquam percussit Dominus fluvium.

KJV ¹ And the LORD spake unto Moses, Go unto Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Let my people go, that they may serve me.

VULC ¹ Dixit quoque Dominus ad Moysen : Ingredere ad Pharaonem, et dices ad eum : Hæc dicit Dominus : Dimitte populum meum, ut sacrificet mihi :

KJV ² And if thou refuse to let them go, behold, I will smite all thy borders with frogs:

VULC ² sin autem nolueris dimittere, ecce ego percutiam omnes terminos tuos ranis,

KJV ³ And the river shall bring forth frogs abundantly, which shall go up and come into thine house, and into thy bedchamber, and upon thy bed, and into the house of thy servants, and upon thy people, and into thine ovens, and into thy kneadingtroughs:

VULC ³ et ebulliet fluvius ranas : quæ ascendent, et ingredientur domum tuam, et cubiculum lectuli tui, et super stratum tuum, et in domos servorum tuorum, et in populum tuum, et in furnos tuos, et in reliquias ciborum tuorum :

KJV ⁴ And the frogs shall come up both on thee, and upon thy people, and upon all thy servants.

KJV ⁵ And the LORD spake unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Stretch forth thine hand with thy rod over the streams, over the rivers, and over the ponds, and cause frogs to come up upon the land of Egypt.

VULC ⁵ Dixitque Dominus ad Moysen : Dic ad Aaron : Extende manum tuam super fluvios ac super rivos et paludes, et educ ranas super terram Ægypti.

KJV ⁶ And Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt; and the frogs came up, and covered the land of Egypt.

KJV ⁷ And the magicians did so with their enchantments, and brought up frogs upon the land of Egypt.

KJV ⁸ Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron, and said, Intreat the LORD, that he may take away the frogs from me, and from my people; and I will let the people go, that they may do sacrifice unto the LORD.

VULC ⁸ Vocavit autem Pharao Moysen et Aaron, et dixit eis : Orate Dominum ut auferat ranas a me et a populo meo, et dimittam populum ut sacrificet Domino.

KJV ⁹ And Moses said unto Pharaoh, Glory over me: when shall I intreat for thee, and for thy servants, and for thy people, to destroy the frogs from thee and thy houses, that they may remain in the river only?

VULC ⁹ Dixitque Moyses ad Pharaonem : Constitue mihi quando deprecer pro te, et pro servis tuis, et pro populo tuo, ut abigantur ranæ a te, et a domo tua, et a servis tuis, et a populo tuo : et tantum in flumine remaneant.

KJV ¹⁰ And he said, To morrow. And he said, Be it according to thy word: that thou mayest know that there is none like unto the LORD our God.

KJV ¹¹ And the frogs shall depart from thee, and from thy houses, and from thy servants, and from thy people; they shall remain in the river only.

VULC ¹¹ Et recedent ranæ a te, et a domo tua, et a servis tuis, et a populo tuo : et tantum in flumine remanebunt.

KJV ¹² And Moses and Aaron went out from Pharaoh: and Moses cried unto the LORD because of the frogs which he had brought against Pharaoh.

VULC ¹² Egressique sunt Moyses et Aaron a Pharaone : et clamavit Moyses ad Dominum pro sponsione ranarum quam condixerat Pharaoni.

KJV ¹³ And the LORD did according to the word of Moses; and the frogs died out of the houses, out of the villages, and out of the fields.

VULC ¹³ Fecitque Dominus juxta verbum Moysi : et mortuæ sunt ranæ de domibus, et de villis, et de agris.

KJV ¹⁴ And they gathered them together upon heaps: and the land stank.

VULC ¹⁴ Congregaveruntque eas in immensos aggeres, et computruit terra.

KJV ¹⁵ But when Pharaoh saw that there was respite, he hardened his heart, and hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had said.

VULC ¹⁵ Videns autem Pharao quod data esset requies, ingravavit cor suum, et non audivit eos, sicut præceperat Dominus.

KJV ¹⁶ And the LORD said unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Stretch out thy rod, and smite the dust of the land, that it may become lice throughout all the land of Egypt.

VULC ¹⁶ Dixitque Dominus ad Moysen : Loquere ad Aaron : Extende virgam tuam, et percute pulverem terræ : et sint sciniphes in universa terra Ægypti.

KJV ¹⁷ And they did so; for Aaron stretched out his hand with his rod, and smote the dust of the earth, and it became lice in man, and in beast; all the dust of the land became lice throughout all the land of Egypt.

VULC ¹⁷ Feceruntque ita. Et extendit Aaron manum, virgam tenens : percussitque pulverem terræ, et facti sunt sciniphes in hominibus, et in jumentis : omnis pulvis terræ versus est in sciniphes per totam terram Ægypti.

KJV ¹⁹ Then the magicians said unto Pharaoh, This is the finger of God: and Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had said.

KJV ²⁰ And the LORD said unto Moses, Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh; lo, he cometh forth to the water; and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Let my people go, that they may serve me.

KJV ²¹ Else, if thou wilt not let my people go, behold, I will send swarms of flies upon thee, and upon thy servants, and upon thy people, and into thy houses: and the houses of the Egyptians shall be full of swarms of flies, and also the ground whereon they are.

VULC ²¹ Quod si non dimiseris eum, ecce ego immittam in te, et in servos tuos, et in populum tuum, et in domos tuas, omne genus muscarum : et implebuntur domus Ægyptiorum muscis diversi generis, et universa terra in qua fuerint.

KJV ²² And I will sever in that day the land of Goshen, in which my people dwell, that no swarms of flies shall be there; to the end thou mayest know that I am the LORD in the midst of the earth.

KJV ²³ And I will put a division between my people and thy people: to morrow shall this sign be.

KJV ²⁴ And the LORD did so; and there came a grievous swarm of flies into the house of Pharaoh, and into his servants' houses, and into all the land of Egypt: the land was corrupted by reason of the swarm of flies.

VULC ²⁴ Fecitque Dominus ita. Et venit musca gravissima in domos Pharaonis et servorum ejus, et in omnem terram Ægypti : corruptaque est terra ab hujuscemodi muscis.

KJV ²⁵ And Pharaoh called for Moses and for Aaron, and said, Go ye, sacrifice to your God in the land.

VULC ²⁵ Vocavitque Pharao Moysen et Aaron, et ait eis : Ite et sacrificate Deo vestro in terra hac.

KJV ²⁶ And Moses said, It is not meet so to do; for we shall sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians to the LORD our God: lo, shall we sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians before their eyes, and will they not stone us?

VULC ²⁶ Et ait Moyses : Non potest ita fieri : abominationes enim Ægyptiorum immolabimus Domino Deo nostro : quod si mactaverimus ea quæ colunt Ægyptii coram eis, lapidibus nos obruent.

KJV ²⁷ We will go three days' journey into the wilderness, and sacrifice to the LORD our God, as he shall command us.

VULC ²⁷ Viam trium dierum pergemus in solitudinem : et sacrificabimus Domino Deo nostro, sicut præcepit nobis.

KJV ²⁸ And Pharaoh said, I will let you go, that ye may sacrifice to the LORD your God in the wilderness; only ye shall not go very far away: intreat for me.

VULC ²⁸ Dixitque Pharao : Ego dimittam vos ut sacrificetis Domino Deo vestro in deserto : verumtamen longius ne abeatis, rogate pro me.

KJV ²⁹ And Moses said, Behold, I go out from thee, and I will intreat the LORD that the swarms of flies may depart from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people, to morrow: but let not Pharaoh deal deceitfully any more in not letting the people go to sacrifice to the LORD.

VULC ²⁹ At ait Moyses : Egressus a te, orabo Dominum : et recedet musca a Pharaone, et a servis suis, et a populo ejus cras : verumtamen noli ultra fallere, ut non dimittas populum sacrificare Domino.

KJV ³⁰ And Moses went out from Pharaoh, and intreated the LORD.

VULC ³⁰ Egressusque Moyses a Pharaone, oravit Dominum.

KJV ³¹ And the LORD did according to the word of Moses; and he removed the swarms of flies from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people; there remained not one.

VULC ³¹ Qui fecit juxta verbum illius, et abstulit muscas a Pharaone, et a servis suis, et a populo ejus : non superfuit ne una quidem.

KJV ³² And Pharaoh hardened his heart at this time also, neither would he let the people go.

VULC ³² Et ingravatum est cor Pharaonis, ita ut nec hac quidem vice dimitteret populum.
