BAN ¹ Après cela, Moïse et Aaron étant venus vers Pharaon lui dirent : Ainsi a dit l'Eternel, Dieu d'Israël : Laisse aller mon peuple pour qu'il célèbre une fête en mon honneur dans le désert.

KJV ¹ And afterward Moses and Aaron went in, and told Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Let my people go, that they may hold a feast unto me in the wilderness.

BAN ² Et Pharaon dit : Qui est l'Eternel, que j'obéisse à sa voix en laissant aller Israël ? Je ne connais pas l'Eternel, aussi ne laisserai-je pas aller Israël.

KJV ² And Pharaoh said, Who is the LORD, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the LORD, neither will I let Israel go.

VULC ² At ille respondit : Quis est Dominus, ut audiam vocem ejus, et dimittam Israël ? nescio Dominum, et Israël non dimittam.

WLC ² וַיֹּ֣אמֶר פַּרְעֹ֔ה מִ֤י יְהוָה֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר אֶשְׁמַ֣ע בְּקֹל֔וֹ לְשַׁלַּ֖ח אֶת־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל לֹ֤א יָדַ֙עְתִּי֙ אֶת־ יְהוָ֔ה וְגַ֥ם אֶת־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לֹ֥א אֲשַׁלֵּֽחַ׃

BAN ³ Et ils dirent : Le Dieu des Hébreux s'est manifesté à nous. Nous voudrions aller à trois journées de marche dans le désert pour sacrifier à l'Eternel notre Dieu, de peur qu'il ne nous frappe par la peste ou par l'épée.

KJV ³ And they said, The God of the Hebrews hath met with us: let us go, we pray thee, three days' journey into the desert, and sacrifice unto the LORD our God; lest he fall upon us with pestilence, or with the sword.

VULC ³ Dixeruntque : Deus Hebræorum vocavit nos, ut eamus viam trium dierum in solitudinem, et sacrificemus Domino Deo nostro : ne forte accidat nobis pestis aut gladius.

WLC ³ וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ אֱלֹהֵ֥י הָעִבְרִ֖ים נִקְרָ֣א עָלֵ֑ינוּ נֵ֣לֲכָה נָּ֡א דֶּרֶךְ֩ שְׁלֹ֨שֶׁת יָמִ֜ים בַּמִּדְבָּ֗ר וְנִזְבְּחָה֙ לַֽיהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵ֔ינוּ פֶּ֨ן־ יִפְגָּעֵ֔נוּ בַּדֶּ֖בֶר א֥וֹ בֶחָֽרֶב׃

BAN ⁴ Et le roi d'Egypte leur dit : Pourquoi, Moïse et Aaron, faites-vous quitter au peuple son ouvrage ? Allez à vos corvées !

KJV ⁴ And the king of Egypt said unto them, Wherefore do ye, Moses and Aaron, let the people from their works? get you unto your burdens.

VULC ⁴ Ait ad eos rex Ægypti : Quare Moyses et Aaron sollicitatis populum ab operibus suis ? ite ad onera vestra.

WLC ⁴ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֲלֵהֶם֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ מִצְרַ֔יִם לָ֚מָּה מֹשֶׁ֣ה וְאַהֲרֹ֔ן תַּפְרִ֥יעוּ אֶת־ הָעָ֖ם מִמַּֽעֲשָׂ֑יו לְכ֖וּ לְסִבְלֹתֵיכֶֽם׃

BAN ⁵ Et Pharaon dit : Voici le bas peuple est maintenant nombreux et vous lui faites cesser ses corvées !

KJV ⁵ And Pharaoh said, Behold, the people of the land now are many, and ye make them rest from their burdens.

VULC ⁵ Dixitque Pharao : Multus est populus terræ : videtis quod turba succreverit : quanto magis si dederitis eis requiem ab operibus ?

WLC ⁵ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר פַּרְעֹ֔ה הֵן־ רַבִּ֥ים עַתָּ֖ה עַ֣ם הָאָ֑רֶץ וְהִשְׁבַּתֶּ֥ם אֹתָ֖ם מִסִּבְלֹתָֽם׃

BAN ⁶ Et en ce jour-là Pharaon donna aux exacteurs du peuple et à ses contremaîtres l'ordre suivant :

KJV ⁶ And Pharaoh commanded the same day the taskmasters of the people, and their officers, saying,

VULC ⁶ Præcepit ergo in die illo præfectis operum et exactoribus populi, dicens :

WLC ⁶ וַיְצַ֥ו פַּרְעֹ֖ה בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֑וּא אֶת־ הַנֹּגְשִׂ֣ים בָּעָ֔ם וְאֶת־ שֹׁטְרָ֖יו לֵאמֹֽר׃

BAN ⁷ Vous ne donnerez plus de paille aux gens pour faire les briques, comme on l'a fait jusqu'ici ; ils iront eux-mêmes ramasser la paille qu'il leur faut.

KJV ⁷ Ye shall no more give the people straw to make brick, as heretofore: let them go and gather straw for themselves.

VULC ⁷ Nequaquam ultra dabitis paleas populo ad conficiendos lateres, sicut prius : sed ipsi vadant, et colligant stipulas.

WLC ⁷ לֹ֣א תֹאסִפ֞וּן לָתֵ֨ת תֶּ֧בֶן לָעָ֛ם לִלְבֹּ֥ן הַלְּבֵנִ֖ים כִּתְמ֣וֹל שִׁלְשֹׁ֑ם הֵ֚ם יֵֽלְכ֔וּ וְקֹשְׁשׁ֥וּ לָהֶ֖ם תֶּֽבֶן׃

BAN ⁸ Mais vous leur imposerez la tâche de briques qu'ils ont toujours faite ; vous n'en retrancherez rien, car ce sont des paresseux ; c'est pourquoi ils crient : Nous voudrions aller faire un sacrifice à notre Dieu.

KJV ⁸ And the tale of the bricks, which they did make heretofore, ye shall lay upon them; ye shall not diminish ought thereof: for they be idle; therefore they cry, saying, Let us go and sacrifice to our God.

VULC ⁸ Et mensuram laterum, quam prius faciebant, imponetis super eos, nec minuetis quidquam : vacant enim, et idcirco vociferantur, dicentes : Eamus, et sacrificemus Deo nostro.

WLC ⁸ וְאֶת־ מַתְכֹּ֨נֶת הַלְּבֵנִ֜ים אֲשֶׁ֣ר הֵם֩ עֹשִׂ֨ים תְּמ֤וֹל שִׁלְשֹׁם֙ תָּשִׂ֣ימוּ עֲלֵיהֶ֔ם לֹ֥א תִגְרְע֖וּ מִמֶּ֑נּוּ כִּֽי־ נִרְפִּ֣ים הֵ֔ם עַל־ כֵּ֗ן הֵ֤ם צֹֽעֲקִים֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר נֵלְכָ֖ה נִזְבְּחָ֥ה לֵאלֹהֵֽינוּ׃

BAN ⁹ Que les gens soient chargés d'ouvrage et s'y occupent, et qu'ils ne fassent plus attention aux mensonges qu'on leur dit.

KJV ⁹ Let there more work be laid upon the men, that they may labour therein; and let them not regard vain words.

VULC ⁹ Opprimantur operibus, et expleant ea : ut non acquiescant verbis mendacibus.

WLC ⁹ תִּכְבַּ֧ד הָעֲבֹדָ֛ה עַל־ הָאֲנָשִׁ֖ים וְיַעֲשׂוּ־ בָ֑הּ וְאַל־ יִשְׁע֖וּ בְּדִבְרֵי־ שָֽׁקֶר׃

BAN ¹⁰ Et les exacteurs du peuple et ses contremaîtres allèrent parler ainsi au peuple : Ainsi a dit Pharaon : Je ne vous donne plus de paille.

KJV ¹⁰ And the taskmasters of the people went out, and their officers, and they spake to the people, saying, Thus saith Pharaoh, I will not give you straw.

VULC ¹⁰ Igitur egressi præfecti operum et exactores ad populum, dixerunt : Sic dicit Pharao : Non do vobis paleas :

WLC ¹⁰ וַיֵּ֨צְא֜וּ נֹגְשֵׂ֤י הָעָם֙ וְשֹׁ֣טְרָ֔יו וַיֹּאמְר֥וּ אֶל־ הָעָ֖ם לֵאמֹ֑ר כֹּ֚ה אָמַ֣ר פַּרְעֹ֔ה אֵינֶ֛נִּי נֹתֵ֥ן לָכֶ֖ם תֶּֽבֶן׃

BAN ¹¹ Allez donc vous-mêmes prendre de la paille où vous en trouverez, car rien ne sera retranché de votre tâche.

KJV ¹¹ Go ye, get you straw where ye can find it: yet not ought of your work shall be diminished.

VULC ¹¹ ite, et colligite sicubi invenire poteritis, nec minuetur quidquam de opere vestro.

WLC ¹¹ אַתֶּ֗ם לְכ֨וּ קְח֤וּ לָכֶם֙ תֶּ֔בֶן מֵאֲשֶׁ֖ר תִּמְצָ֑אוּ כִּ֣י אֵ֥ין נִגְרָ֛ע מֵעֲבֹדַתְכֶ֖ם דָּבָֽר׃

BAN ¹² Et le peuple se répandit dans tout le pays d'Egypte afin de ramasser du chaume pour en faire de la paille hachée.

KJV ¹² So the people were scattered abroad throughout all the land of Egypt to gather stubble instead of straw.

VULC ¹² Dispersusque est populus per omnem terram Ægypti ad colligendas paleas.

WLC ¹² וַיָּ֥פֶץ הָעָ֖ם בְּכָל־ אֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרָ֑יִם לְקֹשֵׁ֥שׁ קַ֖שׁ לַתֶּֽבֶן׃

BAN ¹³ Et les exacteurs les pressaient disant : Faites tout votre ouvrage, jour par jour, comme quand on avait la paille !

KJV ¹³ And the taskmasters hasted them, saying, Fulfil your works, your daily tasks, as when there was straw.

VULC ¹³ Præfecti quoque operum instabant, dicentes : Complete opus vestrum quotidie, ut prius facere solebatis quando dabantur vobis paleæ.

WLC ¹³ וְהַנֹּגְשִׂ֖ים אָצִ֣ים לֵאמֹ֑ר כַּלּ֤וּ מַעֲשֵׂיכֶם֙ דְּבַר־ י֣וֹם בְּיוֹמ֔וֹ כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר בִּהְי֥וֹת הַתֶּֽבֶן׃

BAN ¹⁴ Et l'on battit les contremaîtres des fils d'Israël, qu'avaient établis sur eux les exacteurs de Pharaon, en leur disant : Pourquoi n'avez-vous pas fait ces jours-ci toute votre tâche de briques comme précédemment ?

KJV ¹⁴ And the officers of the children of Israel, which Pharaoh's taskmasters had set over them, were beaten, and demanded, Wherefore have ye not fulfilled your task in making brick both yesterday and to day, as heretofore?

VULC ¹⁴ Flagellatique sunt qui præerant operibus filiorum Israël, ab exactoribus Pharaonis, dicentibus : Quare non impletis mensuram laterum sicut prius, nec heri, nec hodie ?

WLC ¹⁴ וַיֻּכּ֗וּ שֹֽׁטְרֵי֙ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֲשֶׁר־ שָׂ֣מוּ עֲלֵהֶ֔ם נֹגְשֵׂ֥י פַרְעֹ֖ה לֵאמֹ֑ר מַדּ֡וּעַ לֹא֩ כִלִּיתֶ֨ם חָקְכֶ֤ם לִלְבֹּן֙ כִּתְמ֣וֹל שִׁלְשֹׁ֔ם גַּם־ תְּמ֖וֹל גַּם־ הַיּֽוֹם׃

BAN ¹⁵ Et les contremaîtres des fils d'Israël allèrent réclamer à Pharaon et lui dirent : Pourquoi traiterais-tu ainsi tes serviteurs ?

KJV ¹⁵ Then the officers of the children of Israel came and cried unto Pharaoh, saying, Wherefore dealest thou thus with thy servants?

VULC ¹⁵ Veneruntque præpositi filiorum Israël, et vociferati sunt ad Pharaonem dicentes : Cur ita agis contra servos tuos ?

WLC ¹⁵ וַיָּבֹ֗אוּ שֹֽׁטְרֵי֙ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וַיִּצְעֲק֥וּ אֶל־ פַּרְעֹ֖ה לֵאמֹ֑ר לָ֧מָּה תַעֲשֶׂ֦ה כֹ֖ה לַעֲבָדֶֽיךָ׃

BAN ¹⁶ On ne fournit pas de paille à tes serviteurs et on nous dit : Faites des briques ! Et comme cela tes serviteurs sont battus et ton peuple se trouve en faute !

KJV ¹⁶ There is no straw given unto thy servants, and they say to us, Make brick: and, behold, thy servants are beaten; but the fault is in thine own people.

VULC ¹⁶ paleæ non dantur nobis, et lateres similiter imperantur : en famuli tui flagellis cædimur, et injuste agitur contra populum tuum.

BAN ¹⁷ Et Pharaon dit : Vous êtes des paresseux, des paresseux ! c'est pourquoi vous dites : Nous voudrions aller faire un sacrifice à l'Eternel.

KJV ¹⁷ But he said, Ye are idle, ye are idle: therefore ye say, Let us go and do sacrifice to the LORD.

VULC ¹⁷ Qui ait : Vacatis otio, et idcirco dicitis : Eamus, et sacrificemus Domino.

WLC ¹⁷ וַיֹּ֛אמֶר נִרְפִּ֥ים אַתֶּ֖ם נִרְפִּ֑ים עַל־ כֵּן֙ אַתֶּ֣ם אֹֽמְרִ֔ים נֵלְכָ֖ה נִזְבְּחָ֥ה לַֽיהוָֽה׃

BAN ¹⁸ Et maintenant allez travailler, on ne vous donnera pas de paille et vous ferez votre tâche de briques.

KJV ¹⁸ Go therefore now, and work; for there shall no straw be given you, yet shall ye deliver the tale of bricks.

VULC ¹⁸ Ite ergo, et operamini : paleæ non dabuntur vobis, et reddetis consuetum numerum laterum.

WLC ¹⁸ וְעַתָּה֙ לְכ֣וּ עִבְד֔וּ וְתֶ֖בֶן לֹא־ יִנָּתֵ֣ן לָכֶ֑ם וְתֹ֥כֶן לְבֵנִ֖ים תִּתֵּֽנּוּ׃

BAN ¹⁹ Et les contremaîtres des fils d'Israël se virent dans une position fâcheuse, puisqu'on leur disait : Vous ne retrancherez rien de vos briques ; à chaque jour sa tâche !

KJV ¹⁹ And the officers of the children of Israel did see that they were in evil case, after it was said, Ye shall not minish ought from your bricks of your daily task.

VULC ¹⁹ Videbantque se præpositi filiorum Israël in malo, eo quod diceretur eis : Non minuetur quidquam de lateribus per singulos dies.

WLC ¹⁹ וַיִּרְא֞וּ שֹֽׁטְרֵ֧י בְנֵֽי־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל אֹתָ֖ם בְּרָ֣ע לֵאמֹ֑ר לֹא־ תִגְרְע֥וּ מִלִּבְנֵיכֶ֖ם דְּבַר־ י֥וֹם בְּיוֹמֽוֹ׃

BAN ²⁰ Ils trouvèrent Moïse et Aaron qui se tenaient là pour les attendre quand ils sortiraient de chez Pharaon,

KJV ²⁰ And they met Moses and Aaron, who stood in the way, as they came forth from Pharaoh:

VULC ²⁰ Occurreruntque Moysi et Aaron, qui stabant ex adverso, egredientibus a Pharaone :

WLC ²⁰ וַֽיִּפְגְּעוּ֙ אֶת־ מֹשֶׁ֣ה וְאֶֽת־ אַהֲרֹ֔ן נִצָּבִ֖ים לִקְרָאתָ֑ם בְּצֵאתָ֖ם מֵאֵ֥ת פַּרְעֹֽה׃

BAN ²¹ et ils leur dirent : Que l'Eternel vous voie et qu'il juge, vous qui nous avez mis en mauvaise odeur auprès de Pharaon et auprès de ses serviteurs et qui leur avez mis l'épée à la main pour nous tuer !

KJV ²¹ And they said unto them, The LORD look upon you, and judge; because ye have made our savour to be abhorred in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of his servants, to put a sword in their hand to slay us.

VULC ²¹ et dixerunt ad eos : Videat Dominus et judicet, quoniam fœtere fecistis odorem nostrum coram Pharaone et servis ejus, et præbuistis ei gladium, ut occideret nos.

WLC ²¹ וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ אֲלֵהֶ֔ם יֵ֧רֶא יְהוָ֛ה עֲלֵיכֶ֖ם וְיִשְׁפֹּ֑ט אֲשֶׁ֧ר הִבְאַשְׁתֶּ֣ם אֶת־ רֵיחֵ֗נוּ בְּעֵינֵ֤י פַרְעֹה֙ וּבְעֵינֵ֣י עֲבָדָ֔יו לָֽתֶת־ חֶ֥רֶב בְּיָדָ֖ם לְהָרְגֵֽנוּ׃

BAN ²² Alors Moïse retourna vers l'Eternel et dit : Seigneur ! Pourquoi as-tu fait du mal à ce peuple ? Pourquoi donc m'as-tu envoyé ?

KJV ²² And Moses returned unto the LORD, and said, LORD, wherefore hast thou so evil entreated this people? why is it that thou hast sent me?

VULC ²² Reversusque est Moyses ad Dominum, et ait : Domine, cur afflixisti populum istum ? quare misisti me ?

WLC ²² וַיָּ֧שָׁב מֹשֶׁ֛ה אֶל־ יְהוָ֖ה וַיֹּאמַ֑ר אֲדֹנָ֗י לָמָ֤ה הֲרֵעֹ֙תָה֙ לָעָ֣ם הַזֶּ֔ה לָ֥מָּה זֶּ֖ה שְׁלַחְתָּֽנִי׃

BAN ²³ Depuis que je me suis présenté à Pharaon pour lui parler en ton nom, il a fait du mal à ce peuple et tu n'as pas du tout délivré ton peuple !

KJV ²³ For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in thy name, he hath done evil to this people; neither hast thou delivered thy people at all.

VULC ²³ ex eo enim quo ingressus sum ad Pharaonem ut loquerer in nomine tuo, afflixit populum tuum : et non liberasti eos.

WLC ²³ וּמֵאָ֞ז בָּ֤אתִי אֶל־ פַּרְעֹה֙ לְדַבֵּ֣ר בִּשְׁמֶ֔ךָ הֵרַ֖ע לָעָ֣ם הַזֶּ֑ה וְהַצֵּ֥ל לֹא־ הִצַּ֖לְתָּ אֶת־ עַמֶּֽךָ׃

BAN ¹ Et l'Eternel dit à Moïse : Maintenant tu verras ce que je ferai à Pharaon ! Contraint par une main forte il les laissera aller. Contraint par une main forte il les chassera de son pays.

KJV ¹ Then the LORD said unto Moses, Now shalt thou see what I will do to Pharaoh: for with a strong hand shall he let them go, and with a strong hand shall he drive them out of his land.

BAN ² Et Dieu parla à Moïse et lui dit : Je suis l'Eternel.

KJV ² And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the LORD:

VULC ² Locutusque est Dominus ad Moysen dicens : Ego Dominus

WLC ² וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר אֱלֹהִ֖ים אֶל־ מֹשֶׁ֑ה וַיֹּ֥אמֶר אֵלָ֖יו אֲנִ֥י יְהוָֽה׃

BAN ³ Je suis apparu à Abraham, à Isaac et à Jacob comme Dieu puissant, mais sous mon nom d'ETERNEL je ne me suis pas fait connaître à eux.

KJV ³ And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them.

VULC ³ qui apparui Abraham, Isaac et Jacob in Deo omnipotente : et nomen meum Adonai non indicavi eis.

WLC ³ וָאֵרָ֗א אֶל־ אַבְרָהָ֛ם אֶל־ יִצְחָ֥ק וְאֶֽל־ יַעֲקֹ֖ב בְּאֵ֣ל שַׁדָּ֑י וּשְׁמִ֣י יְהוָ֔ה לֹ֥א נוֹדַ֖עְתִּי לָהֶֽם׃

BAN ⁴ Non seulement j'ai établi mon alliance avec eux pour leur donner le pays de Canaan, le pays où ils ont séjourné en étrangers,

KJV ⁴ And I have also established my covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land of their pilgrimage, wherein they were strangers.

VULC ⁴ Pepigique fœdus cum eis, ut darem eis terram Chanaan, terram peregrinationis eorum, in qua fuerunt advenæ.

WLC ⁴ וְגַ֨ם הֲקִמֹ֤תִי אֶת־ בְּרִיתִי֙ אִתָּ֔ם לָתֵ֥ת לָהֶ֖ם אֶת־ אֶ֣רֶץ כְּנָ֑עַן אֵ֛ת אֶ֥רֶץ מְגֻרֵיהֶ֖ם אֲשֶׁר־ גָּ֥רוּ בָֽהּ׃

BAN ⁵ mais encore j'ai entendu le gémissement des fils d'Israël que les Egyptiens asservissent, et je me suis souvenu de mon alliance.

KJV ⁵ And I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel, whom the Egyptians keep in bondage; and I have remembered my covenant.

VULC ⁵ Ego audivi gemitum filiorum Israël, quo Ægyptii oppresserunt eos : et recordatus sum pacti mei.

WLC ⁵ וְגַ֣ם ׀ אֲנִ֣י שָׁמַ֗עְתִּי אֶֽת־ נַאֲקַת֙ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֲשֶׁ֥ר מִצְרַ֖יִם מַעֲבִדִ֣ים אֹתָ֑ם וָאֶזְכֹּ֖ר אֶת־ בְּרִיתִֽי׃

BAN ⁶ C'est pourquoi dis aux fils d'Israël : Je suis l'Eternel, et je vous soustrairai aux corvées des Egyptiens et vous tirerai de leur service, et je vous libérerai à bras étendu et par de grands jugements.

BAN ⁷ Et je vous prendrai pour mon peuple, et je vous serai Dieu et vous saurez que je suis l'Eternel votre Dieu qui vous soustrais aux corvées des Egyptiens ;

KJV ⁷ And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God: and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God, which bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.

BAN ⁸ et je vous ferai entrer dans le pays que j'ai juré de donner à Abraham, à Isaac et à Jacob, et je vous le donnerai en possession. Je suis l'Eternel.

KJV ⁸ And I will bring you in unto the land, concerning the which I did swear to give it to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; and I will give it you for an heritage: I am the LORD.

BAN ⁹ Et Moïse parla ainsi aux fils d'Israël, et ils n'écoutèrent pas Moïse parce qu'ils avaient perdu patience et que leur service était dur.

BAN ¹³ L'Eternel parla à Moïse et à Aaron et les envoya aux fils d'Israël et à Pharaon, roi d'Egypte, avec l'ordre de tirer les fils d'Israël hors du pays d'Egypte.

KJV ¹⁴ These be the heads of their fathers' houses: The sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel; Hanoch, and Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi: these be the families of Reuben.

BAN ²⁶ Ce sont là l'Aaron et le Moïse auxquels l'Eternel dit : Faites sortir du pays d'Egypte les fils d'Israël, selon leurs armées.

KJV ²⁶ These are that Aaron and Moses, to whom the LORD said, Bring out the children of Israel from the land of Egypt according to their armies.

BAN ¹ Et l'Eternel dit à Moïse : Vois, j'ai fait de toi un dieu pour Pharaon, et Aaron ton frère sera ton prophète.

KJV ¹ And the LORD said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet.

BAN ² Toi, tu diras tout ce dont je te chargerai, et Aaron ton frère parlera à Pharaon pour qu'il laisse sortir de son pays les fils d'Israël.

KJV ² Thou shalt speak all that I command thee: and Aaron thy brother shall speak unto Pharaoh, that he send the children of Israel out of his land.

BAN ³ Et moi, j'endurcirai le coeur de Pharaon et je multiplierai mes signes et mes miracles dans le pays d'Egypte.

KJV ³ And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt.

VULC ³ Sed ego indurabo cor ejus, et multiplicabo signa et ostenta mea in terra Ægypti,

WLC ³ וַאֲנִ֥י אַקְשֶׁ֖ה אֶת־ לֵ֣ב פַּרְעֹ֑ה וְהִרְבֵּיתִ֧י אֶת־ אֹתֹתַ֛י וְאֶת־ מוֹפְתַ֖י בְּאֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃

BAN ⁴ Et Pharaon ne vous écoutera pas, et je mettrai ma main sur l'Egypte et je ferai sortir du pays d'Egypte par de grands jugements mes armées, mon peuple, les fils d'Israël.

KJV ⁴ But Pharaoh shall not hearken unto you, that I may lay my hand upon Egypt, and bring forth mine armies, and my people the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments.

WLC ⁴ וְלֹֽא־ יִשְׁמַ֤ע אֲלֵכֶם֙ פַּרְעֹ֔ה וְנָתַתִּ֥י אֶת־ יָדִ֖י בְּמִצְרָ֑יִם וְהוֹצֵאתִ֨י אֶת־ צִבְאֹתַ֜י אֶת־ עַמִּ֤י בְנֵֽי־ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ מֵאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַ֔יִם בִּשְׁפָטִ֖ים גְּדֹלִֽים׃

BAN ⁵ Et les Egyptiens sauront que je suis l'Eternel, quand j'étendrai ma main sur l'Egypte et que je ferai sortir les fils d'Israël du milieu d'eux.

KJV ⁵ And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I stretch forth mine hand upon Egypt, and bring out the children of Israel from among them.

VULC ⁵ Et scient Ægyptii quia ego sum Dominus qui extenderim manum meam super Ægyptum, et eduxerim filios Israël de medio eorum.

WLC ⁵ וְיָדְע֤וּ מִצְרַ֙יִם֙ כִּֽי־ אֲנִ֣י יְהוָ֔ה בִּנְטֹתִ֥י אֶת־ יָדִ֖י עַל־ מִצְרָ֑יִם וְהוֹצֵאתִ֥י אֶת־ בְּנֵֽי־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל מִתּוֹכָֽם׃

BAN ⁶ Ainsi firent Moïse et Aaron. Ils firent tout ce que l'Eternel leur avait commandé.

KJV ⁶ And Moses and Aaron did as the LORD commanded them, so did they.

VULC ⁶ Fecit itaque Moyses et Aaron sicut præceperat Dominus : ita egerunt.

WLC ⁶ וַיַּ֥עַשׂ מֹשֶׁ֖ה וְאַהֲרֹ֑ן כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר צִוָּ֧ה יְהוָ֛ה אֹתָ֖ם כֵּ֥ן עָשֽׂוּ׃

BAN ⁷ Or Moïse avait quatre-vingts ans et Aaron quatre-vingt-trois, lorsqu'ils parlèrent à Pharaon.

KJV ⁷ And Moses was fourscore years old, and Aaron fourscore and three years old, when they spake unto Pharaoh.

VULC ⁷ Erat autem Moyses octoginta annorum, et Aaron octoginta trium, quando locuti sunt ad Pharaonem.

WLC ⁷ וּמֹשֶׁה֙ בֶּן־ שְׁמֹנִ֣ים שָׁנָ֔ה וְאַֽהֲרֹ֔ן בֶּן־ שָׁלֹ֥שׁ וּשְׁמֹנִ֖ים שָׁנָ֑ה בְּדַבְּרָ֖ם אֶל־ פַּרְעֹֽה׃

BAN ⁸ Et l'Eternel dit à Moïse et à Aaron :

KJV ⁸ And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,

VULC ⁸ Dixitque Dominus ad Moysen et Aaron :

WLC ⁸ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר יְהוָ֔ה אֶל־ מֹשֶׁ֥ה וְאֶֽל־ אַהֲרֹ֖ן לֵאמֹֽר׃

BAN ⁹ Quand Pharaon vous dira : Faites un miracle, tu diras à Aaron : Prends ton bâton et jette-le devant Pharaon ; qu'il devienne un serpent !

KJV ⁹ When Pharaoh shall speak unto you, saying, Shew a miracle for you: then thou shalt say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and cast it before Pharaoh, and it shall become a serpent.

VULC ⁹ Cum dixerit vobis Pharao, Ostendite signa : dices ad Aaron : Tolle virgam tuam, et projice eam coram Pharaone, ac vertetur in colubrum.

WLC ⁹ כִּי֩ יְדַבֵּ֨ר אֲלֵכֶ֤ם פַּרְעֹה֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר תְּנ֥וּ לָכֶ֖ם מוֹפֵ֑ת וְאָמַרְתָּ֣ אֶֽל־ אַהֲרֹ֗ן קַ֧ח אֶֽת־ מַטְּךָ֛ וְהַשְׁלֵ֥ךְ לִפְנֵֽי־ פַרְעֹ֖ה יְהִ֥י לְתַנִּֽין׃

BAN ¹⁰ Et Moïse et Aaron se rendirent vers Pharaon et firent selon que l'Eternel l'avait ordonné. Aaron jeta son bâton devant Pharaon et devant ses serviteurs, et il devint un dragon.

KJV ¹⁰ And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as the LORD had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent.

VULC ¹⁰ Ingressi itaque Moyses et Aaron ad Pharaonem, fecerunt sicut præceperat Dominus : tulitque Aaron virgam coram Pharaone et servis ejus, quæ versa est in colubrum.

WLC ¹⁰ וַיָּבֹ֨א מֹשֶׁ֤ה וְאַהֲרֹן֙ אֶל־ פַּרְעֹ֔ה וַיַּ֣עַשׂוּ כֵ֔ן כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר צִוָּ֣ה יְהוָ֑ה וַיַּשְׁלֵ֨ךְ אַהֲרֹ֜ן אֶת־ מַטֵּ֗הוּ לִפְנֵ֥י פַרְעֹ֛ה וְלִפְנֵ֥י עֲבָדָ֖יו וַיְהִ֥י לְתַנִּֽין׃

BAN ¹¹ Et Pharaon aussi appela ses sages et ses magiciens, et eux aussi, les enchanteurs d'Egypte, firent la même chose par leurs arts occultes :

KJV ¹¹ Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers: now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments.

VULC ¹¹ Vocavit autem Pharao sapientes et maleficos : et fecerunt etiam ipsi per incantationes ægyptiacas et arcana quædam similiter.

WLC ¹¹ וַיִּקְרָא֙ גַּם־ פַּרְעֹ֔ה לַֽחֲכָמִ֖ים וְלַֽמְכַשְּׁפִ֑ים וַיַּֽעֲשׂ֨וּ גַם־ הֵ֜ם חַרְטֻמֵּ֥י מִצְרַ֛יִם בְּלַהֲטֵיהֶ֖ם כֵּֽן׃

BAN ¹² ils jetèrent chacun son bâton et ces bâtons devinrent des dragons. Et le bâton d'Aaron engloutit leurs bâtons.

KJV ¹² For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron's rod swallowed up their rods.

VULC ¹² Projeceruntque singuli virgas suas, quæ versæ sunt in dracones : sed devoravit virga Aaron virgas eorum.

WLC ¹² וַיַּשְׁלִ֙יכוּ֙ אִ֣ישׁ מַטֵּ֔הוּ וַיִּהְי֖וּ לְתַנִּינִ֑ם וַיִּבְלַ֥ע מַטֵּֽה־ אַהֲרֹ֖ן אֶת־ מַטֹּתָֽם׃

BAN ¹³ Et le coeur de Pharaon s'endurcit, et il ne les écouta pas, selon que l'Eternel l'avait dit.

KJV ¹³ And he hardened Pharaoh's heart, that he hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had said.

VULC ¹³ Induratumque est cor Pharaonis, et non audivit eos, sicut præceperat Dominus.

WLC ¹³ וַיֶּחֱזַק֙ לֵ֣ב פַּרְעֹ֔ה וְלֹ֥א שָׁמַ֖ע אֲלֵהֶ֑ם כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר דִּבֶּ֥ר יְהוָֽה׃
